The centers are probably less expensive than having treatment at the hospital. Just like we are told to use urgent care before the ER unless the situation is life threatening because of cost.0

Trying to stick to the diet this week: M/W/F - NS shelf stable, T - JC shelf stable, Th - packet day! I didn't gain over the holiday. YEAH!
Last night I tried JC "fiesta chicken with brown rice". Didn't sound like me but I'm impressed they use brown rice so thought I should try it. But no, not me! Figure a lot of people don't like it because it's in everyone's excess stash they sell on ebay.
NS shelf stable menu continues to shrink. But they are planning some new food (my guess would be frozen).
"So, we're introducing 50 new items as we head into 2019 -- close to 50. And a lot of our items today are in alignment with this ban ingredients list. And what we really want to do is -- the consumers are demanding that everybody is moving more to clean labels and things like that and we feel that it's part of our mission to do so. So, what we did is, we really kind of benchmarked ourselves against whole foods and what they were doing, we looked at their clean labels food list.
We were actually aligned on all that several items and we're working towards this better alignment as we head into 2019 and 2020, again, to fulfill our goal becoming a clean labels company."

Whoever wrote that news release must have gone to Trump University. Sounds like the gibberish he spews every day.
Maryanne, Congrats on not gaining over the holiday!
I am almost back down to my lowest weight in a long time. I had gained about 4 pounds before Thanksgiving, although I can’t remember what caused it. I’ve been working on getting rid of it again but it comes off a lot slower than it piles on. I think maybe my many birthday celebrations may be why I gained, now that I’m thinking about it. Note to self — don’t celebrate quite so much next year.
We are still trying to figure out what we will do for Christmas. We usually spend it with my SIL, MIL, nephew and his family, but it is complicated by the fact that the nephew and family will be in El Paso to spend time with her family. My SIL wants everyone to go to El Paso as well, but DH and I, along with MIL don’t want to go there. It’s a 600 mile drive for us, 800 mile drive for the rest of them, plus a hotel stay and eating out the whole time. The alternatives are to celebrate Christmas as a family either before or after the holiday (my vote), or SIL goes to El Paso and leaves MIL in Houston and DH and I go down and stay at her place or nephew’s home so MIL isn’t alone on Christmas Day. SIL isn’t on board with my choice because she says she would feel too guilty if her mother is alone on the holiday, but I honestly don’t think MIL cares about that. I’d rather not go and stay in one of their homes while they are in El Paso because I’d like to visit with them, too. Plus SIL’s geriatric dogs have accidents all over the house and I’d rather not have to deal with that. It’s a real pain trying to figure this out because SIL is very manipulative and trying to make everyone do what she wants regardless of anyone else’s wishes.0 -
Pam,what a sticky situation to be in.I think you let SIL make her plans and you do what makes you happy. Expecting you to drive 600 miles on a holiday is a lot to ask. Celebrating before or after the holiday seems like a good plan to me. That way you get to see the whole family. If MIL wants to stay home, maybe you could go up to be with her at her home and stay a couple of extra days to see the family when they return from El Paso.
I could follow that press release at all. I have no idea what they took out and what they’re leaving in.0 -
600 mile drive? WOW! My baby brother wants to go to a restaurant Christmas morning and DH is already "no way" and that's only maybe a 2-hr drive.

Couple comments on NS yesterday:
Nutriflakes - I love
Mac n cheese - strangest prep EVER but fit to eat once you do it
Chicken pot pie - awful
Honey mustard pretzels - never tried this before from NS - I don't eat mustard but JC had these pretzels and they often were included in assortments I bought on ebay so I tried them and they were FANTASTIC!!! Discontinued now of course (drat). I tried some store versions and didn't like any of them. So I tried the NS version and they aren't bad at all.
Walnut chocolate chip cookies - one of my favorite NS items.0 -
Just to give you an idea of how entitled/delusional my SIL is, at one point she suggested that all of us go to El Paso for Christmas, but she wanted to stay longer than we or her mother would want to stay. So her idea was that DH and I could drive MIL back to Houston which is 800 miles from El Paso, then DH and I would drive another 250 miles to get back to our home. And she was shocked that we didn’t immediately jump onboard with that idea! As of last night she has decided to stay home for Christmas and we will celebrate after the holiday when son and family are back from their trip to El Paso, which is what I had hoped for.
Maryanne, I always liked the NS honey mustard pretzel bites and the walnut chocolate chip cookies, too. I wasn’t fond of any of the others you named. I used to like the Mac n cheese, but there was something different about the flavor this time around and I didn’t like it.
I watched both of the funeral services for President Bush. I was very impressed by all of the speakers who were chosen and the stories they told about him. And the music was glorious!0 -
Glad to hear that the family didn’t jump onto SIL’s plans. 2019 would be a good year to help her be a bit less entitled. When she makes outrageous/selfish demands, politely decline. Perhaps suggest a fairer alternative plan. If she declines, express regret about not seeing her this time and do what you want to do. Entitled people have been indulged in life. It’s never to late to find out the world doesn’t revolve around her. I’m lucky not to have any relatives like her.0

We watched both funerals as well. Imagine the planning that went into both funerals? So impressive. What a life he led I couldn’t help but think of the contrast to Trump when speakers mentioned his humility, kindness and decency. I had a greater appreciation for him and his whole family. Today’s service seemed less sad than the state funeral. It was more a celebration of his life than a sad event.0

My heroes are the ordinary people who quietly, behind the scenes, make an extraordinary difference in the world. One reason I love the CNN Heroes every year. Here's another story that just warms the heart. What these women did blows my mind! And of course the charity that facilitated the transaction deserves kudos as well!

One of our cats loved whipped cream. She’d lick it off DH’s finger. He never thought of squirting it right into her mouths or he would have done it.0

Did you see on TV the other day that a serving of fries is 6. At that rate, a small Mickey D fries would probably feed a family.0

SIX fries? Wow!

Congratulations on your loss. You must have put together a lot of packet days. Interesting news about NS. January is always a big marketing time for NS. I wonder if we’ll see a chance in direction with the 2019 ads.0
