Our first two cats ever where a black girl Beethoven and a white girl Linus. The vet made fun of me but it wasn't a plan to be super cute. Just happened. They hated each other's guts for 12 years - unlike this pair:

Our late Angel used to sit like this. It's sort of disconcerting how human it looks:

Maryanne--Love the memes, especially the cat in chair one; it reminds me so much of Midnight when he spies me getting up to go in another area of the house. He can make a rapid move to it and then looks so disgusted when I return.

I've been using the down time to sort through things and see what can find a new home. I'm not good at this as I keep telling myself that I can always use it. Despite that, I have a car load ready to go to the city tomorrow. I'll be meeting my niece for a late Thanksgiving dinner as she worked in the hospital on Turkey Day.

Jean, that’s so nice you get to have a turkey dinner with your niece. We’re having dinner again tomorrow at my sister’s house. We try to work in several opportunities to spend time together since I usually only see her twice a year. It’s the same thing with my brother except we stay at his house so I see more of him during visits. We’re heading for Jacksonville Wednesday and then to my older sister’s house for a couple of days. We plan to arrive at our house next Saturday.

    Jean - good one!

This house is desperately in need of decluttering. Because of only having one hand all summer, it's gotten worse. I shouldn't even let it enter my head this time of year as there is so much to be done in other areas (my Christmas list for CROM boggles the mind). And now that we're not doing flea markets I need to change my whole mind set. Trashing everything seems too wasteful - of everything but my time. I used to throw everything in boxes and take to Bonnie for the flea markets. Have to have a new plan now.

This week will be busy. I'm taking Jack to the internist in Fairfax VA tomorrow. Tuesday I load Bonnie for the cat show. Wednesday I'm taking Tuffy to the cardiologist in Annapolis (I called and tried to move to December but they're booked). Thursday is grocery store and then loading me. Friday is cat show set up. Saturday at the cat show is covered by others but then I'm there Sunday. Work? What's work? LOL!

It is a wonder how you fit in a “real” job. The running around you do is amazing. Have you discontinued the flea markets? They’re a lot of work for not much money.

The flea markets were pretty profitable as long as you don't have to rent a storage unit. With Bonnie moving south, and our best flea market location closed, we decided to stop.

I've been working on getting turkey stock made so I can make turkey corn soup later this week. I don't know where I got the idea I could make soup (I am SO not a cook) but I do it every year. We just finished off the last container from last year.

Maryanne--I'm exhausted just reading about your week's activities. The older I get the less I do but the more it seems I have to do.

Right now, it is coffee infusion time. Trying to get back into the mindset of preparing for work. I'm booked for two definite days this week. Four more weeks until the semester ends and Christmas break begins.

I actually worked very hard the last 4 days while the rest of the world was having a holiday to get ahead for the week.

I don’t doubt you work hard at your paying job. I’m just amazed at how many things you get done in a day. I didn’t know Bonnie was moving. Where to..? Is she involved in feeding the feral cats? I’m sure you’re going to miss her.

Pam--Love the "What you want for supper?" gem.

I worked today but the temperature dropped major degrees and now the radar is showing snow is on its way. I'm never ready for snow; it is a four-letter word for me.

I guess I'd better go find something to eat; I just know it will be nuked as I'm tired.

Holiday spending is expected to top $717 billion this year, according to the National Retail Federation. That's a lot of gifting!!

We're paid based on production so it helps keep your nose to the grindstone.

She's moving to South Carolina (has already bought a house). She was never involved with feeding cats. She ran our flea market operation. And yes, we'll miss her dreadfully. She was also always the person who could talk me off a ledge when I got wound up.

People around here seem to move to Florida or the Carolinas. All three on a list of the worst 10 states for healthcare I saw recently.

Pam - I'm copying and pasting that one to hang in my kitchen. I've been fretting all morning about being a day short this week. I need one more day this week. Just one!

The freezer now has many containers of turkey corn soup and there's still a large pan full in the frig. Someone remind me next year I don't really need an 18 pound turkey!

We leave SC for FL tomorrow. Overnight temperatures here are supposed to drop below freezing. That’s another reason for leaving now although we planned this date before it got cold. We’ll spend a couple of days with my FL sister and head for our home next Saturday.

Pam--that is so great! Making a place on the schedule to attack the tree is important to cats.

Helene--Safe travels. It is 22 here so I envy you.

Maryann--I think I read that you estimate one pound of turkey for one serving; that is 18 servings of turkey. Enjoy the soup!!
