I hope your stress level is more manageable this week than last. Under the circumstances, 80% isn't too bad. Are you back to working in your packet days? You seem to do well when you work some of those in.
Great minds think alike. I stopped the world today and went down and organized my Diet Direct stash - aka my packets. I suddenly realized I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow and can easily do a packet day!!!
Hopefully I'm closing in on getting all the doctor and vet visits done.
This week Lola gets a dental and then hopefully she's done for awhile. I have to get Tuffy to the cardiologist and Jack to the internist.
For me - this week I need to get followup lab work done (cardiologist wanted labs before and after starting the blood pressure meds). The following week I have a followup with the cardiologist. Then hopefully a break for 3-6 months until a recheck echo.

Amazon has a new kindle. Supposedly holds a charge for days instead of hours. And can handle "audible". Also more storage (although I admit I've never run out of space). Also newly waterproof although I don't care much about that. Have to think about whether this should be on my Christmas list.
I find myself trying to remember to charge before I go to a doctor appointment, e.g. It really does seem to lose a charge fast.
The kindle fire is worse. It uses up power even when not in use.0 -
I use a Nook by Barnes and Noble and have the same issues with battery life. I have learned to leave my WiFi turned off unless I’m downloading new material and that has helped a lot with extending time between charges, but it still isn’t what I’d like.
The cake was a hit. It tasted great, IMO, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The birthday girl took a big piece of it home with her and gave each of us a big slice to take home as well. Our group was a bit smaller than usual last night as 3 of the couples were out of town.
I’ve got to get back on the diet wagon again. I’ve gained back at least 3 pounds, probably more, so it’s time to get back into a more rigid routine for awhile. DH bought me candy for my birthday in early October, and then we had a lot of Halloween candy left over, so that started me on a bad path. All of the candy is gone now and I need to get serious again about what I’m eating. I do not want to regain all the weight I worked so hard to get rid of. With the holidays approaching, I know I’ve got to be more careful about what I’m eating leading up to all the festivities.0 -

Interesting that the 2 guys walking down the street don't even give the rat a second glance. Maybe it's a common occurrence in their neighborhood. You have to admire the rat's persistence in defending his territory. After all, the cat started it!
We have 2 days to finish packing and loading. I'm hoping to have most things in the truck today since we're getting rain overnight. I have laundry to finish up, bills to mail and a visit to the chiropractor this morning. We leaving on Wednesday morning.0 -
Helene - good luck getting everything ready to go!0

Packet day (all of these are high protein and all from Diet Direct unless o/w noted):
Apple cinnamon oatmeal with splash of skim milk and tiny box of raisins
Hot chocolate with splash of skim milk
Chicken soup with noodles and 4 saltines
JC any time bar (taste better and less calories than Diet Direct bars)
Spicy cheese and pasta with side of broccoli
Raw veggies as needed
High protein pretzels
Chocolate cake with squirt of FF redi whip
To me this is a day I feel like I'm always eating and never full. But I almost have to be home all day to really make it work.

Interesting menu for the day. It looks pretty easy to follow. How many days of packets do you do in a row?
The visit to the chiropractor was helpful. Both my shoulders were out of whack. The right shoulder has been giving me problems for 6 or 8 weeks. The adjustments help but about a week and a half in, the pain returns. The only position I can sleep in that isn't painful is lying on my back. The problem there is I hate lying on my back. I've been trying to sleep on my left side and the pressure probably put that shoulder a bit out of place. The doctor did a stim treatment on the right shoulder and set it pretty high. I was uncomfortable getting the treatment but for now, the pain level is negligible.
We have a lot of stuff packed and hope to load some of it tonight. Heavy rains are arriving tonight in the wee hours and will last into the afternoon. Anything we don't get loaded tonight will have to wait until the rain departs.0 -
Helene - I hope they can figure out how to get you some relief! That must be awful not being able to sleep in your "normal" position.
I usually only do one packet day at a time. I so seldom have two days in a row when I'm home all day, sad as that is to say.0 -
I also have a chiropractor in FL. I'll give him a call when we arrive and get an appointment. I'm sure after a 1500 mile trip, I'll need his help. My local doctor suggested I might need some PT so I'll look into that when I get to FL. He thought those upper arm muscles might need strengthening. Couldn't hurt.

I'm watching one of the 600-lb life "where are they now" episodes while I'm on the treadmill.
Dottie and Sean.
Dottie is "working SO hard". At a restaurant she orders a caesar salad and macaroni and cheese. Dr. Now must just want to bang his head against a wall.
Sean is hard to watch. And I can't believe someone could be filming his struggles and not want to call adult social services.0 -
I lost 2 pounds last week!

I didn't know our late Missy when she was this tiny but I bet she looked like this because she was scared for weeks after we rescued her:

I'm doing pretty well today so far:
Breakfast: frozen diet version of egg mcmuffin (I have to go out of my way to get these but I do because I like them and they are fast)
Lunch: my "big salad"
Dinner: broccoli and Lean Cuisine mac n cheese
This evening I'll have a salty snack and a sweet snack.

You're doing really well. Congratulations. Almost 18 pounds is nothing to sneeze at. we had a disappointing day. we drove 20 miles for DH's echo cardiogram. It's in the same place where he did 12 weeks of cardio rehab a year ago. It was raining like crazy and when we get there, DH is not on the schedule. They had him down for next May. The hospital schedules the test and somewhere there screwed up. A woman in the waiting room said the same thing happened to her. We weren't upset with the guy who log you in. we know him from the hours we spent in that office. It wasn't his mistake and he was very apologetic. It is what it is. But those 2 hours of travel and waiting in line could have been better spent packing. We leave in the morning.0

We're finishing up the last of our packing. Certain things we need the last morning, like meds and stuff. So that's the last to go. I usually make sandwiches since DH has to have gluten free bread. It's easier to find then it was 15 years ago but I prefer knowing I have something for him rather than having to hunt. We're leaving jut in time. A Nor'easter arrive here Thursday night and it has a chance of a bit of snow. By then, we'll be in southern NJ. We go as far as VA on Friday. We spend 2 days with the NJ family before they head off to CA this weekend.
Maryanne, what are you expecting for weather in MD Friday? We'll be driving down I 95 during the day.0 -

We have a chance of snow on Friday, according to DH. I'm not seeing it on the weather reports yet but he did so I'm not sure. He cancelled his car appointment (but then he's gotten really bad about even rain).

What a pain!
P.S. the weight ticker starts at my highest ever weight. I just decided somewhere along the line that that end of the ticker was fixed. I think it was originally to make sure I never went over that and as time went on it just somehow seemed like the think to do in my (strange) mind. Since October 1 when I got serious I've lost 8 pounds.0 -

I think I have everything now for Thanksgiving including an 18-lb turkey. Smaller would have been fine but I HAVE TO HAVE one with a pop-up timer and they were all 18-20 pounds. On sale for 89 cents a pound. And I have my boxes of stuffing, jars of gravy, refrigerated mashed potatoes, etc. I am such a cook. NOT! Oh, and a pumpkin pie in the freezer for DH. My own plan is small portions and lots of vegetables.
Haven't heard a peep from any siblings so no idea if anyone is doing anything for Thanksgiving. I know I could have initiated it and I guess I still could. It's been almost two years since I last saw my sister.0 -
I'm having mostly NS shelf stable foods today.
Breakfast: nutriflakes with banana
Lunch: big salad with FF cheddar and turkey
Dinner: Health Wise pot roast
Snacks: raw veggies, NS popcorn and chocolate walnut cookies
I'm using the foods to control calories but as you can see not really following the NS (or any other plan)

Maryanne, your plan is working for you! I’m mostly following a low calorie plan and I’m losing again, so that’s good. I think now I’m up about 2 pounds from my lowest point. Hopefully I can keep the trend going.
We are going to my sister's house for Thanksgiving. She is buying a precooked Cajun turkey breast, so that will only need to be reheated. I will make a sweet potato casserole and a pecan pie and she will make the rest of the sides and a pumpkin pie. Since her oldest daughter and two grandkids now live with them, there is no room at the inn for us, so we will stay in a nearby Hampton Inn Wednesday night and drive home Thursday night if we are out of our post-turkey coma, lol! It’s only a 2 hour drive and the weather looks like it will be ok, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
It’s been really cold here for the past couple of days. I’m already missing summer!
Helene, I hope you and DH have a safe and uneventful drive to Florida!0 -
Helene - our forecast for Friday is looking much better.
Pam - I thought about buying a pre-cooked turkey but figured cooking the turkey isn't really a biggie, once I get it thawed. And since this year's is labelled "fresh" that shouldn't be an issue (hopefully). I put it in a foil roasting pan, pop it in the oven and wait for the pop-up timer to - well - pop up! LOL! I usually cook awhile after that but it gives me a good feel.0 -
For us, it’s more about oven space. The precooked turkey breast will free up room in the oven for all the sides. Everyone has a different favorite, and so we usually end up with at least 4-5 dishes that need to go in the oven in addition to the bird. It’s way too much food, but at least no one is disappointed that their favorite dish isn’t on the table. And we all enjoy the leftovers, so it works out.0
-
Pam - that makes sense! Everything else we have is on the stove top.
