I failed at getting Tuffy this morning so took Sammy. Most of mine try desperately to get back in their carriers at the vet. Not Sammy. He was cool, calm and collected. Except when they wanted to put their thermometer in his ear.

I'm working on my to do list for our travel. When you're away for several months, there is so much to do and so much stuff to pack. DH still has a dental appointment today to check the gum surgery he had last month. We have the chiropractor Monday and he has a routine echo cardiogram Tuesday. He called FL yesterday to make 2 medical appointments. He was surprised how quickly he got appointments. It was because he called now instead of waiting until we get there. By then, you're competing with all the other snow birds. We start the trip next Wednesday.

I'm really nervous about the midterms. I told DH I'm not likely to have the stomach to watch the news tonight. It's sad that the best we can hope for is probably two years of deadlock. But I think the alternative means cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security to pay for millionaire/billionaire tax cuts and disastrous revisions to health insurance for other folks (amongst a host of other bad things).

It is looking likely that none of the three candidates to whom I contributed will win. Or at most one of them. But I'm still proud I've participated (more than I ever did before) and proud I voted.

Pam - I'm sure a lot of turkeys would love to have that disguise!

I don't envy you all that planning and packing! I've been working on getting caught up on my doctor visits and the cats' vet visits that I missed during the broken wrist episode. SO time consuming.

I wanted something Thanksgiving like on my ticker. Was torn about using pie. Is that just self-defeating?

That's wonderful. I'll be starting anew when we get to FL. In the meantime, I'LL try to watch portions. I'm nervous about the election too.

I broke my wrist in May in the process of sequestering the cats in anticipation of a workman's arrival.

Our washing machine finally died past DH's ability to fix it. We are having a new one delivered tomorrow. Yesterday and today I've captured three of the cats to take to the vet to board overnight to make tomorrow morning easier (there will only be three left here to sequester and they are the three calmest/easiest to collect ones (famous last words)). I feel like the biggest coward/traitor on earth.

Dog on ski lift made me smile. :) I turned my laptop on last night to play Solitaire. I was prompted to update Java. I thought what the heck and did it. I was prompted to uninstall older versions. I did that and then thought let me click on Chrome. And surprisingly I have Internet access. Who knows how long that will last but I guess the laptop still has a little life less in it. I still plan to replace it but for no it works.

Computers do such strange things sometimes. I always imagine a little man inside (gotta me a little man).

This was a stressful week. I've been consciously working on controlling the food urges. How successful have I been? I'm thinking 80%.

Today I get my hair done. Hopefully that will be care free!

I hope your stress level is more manageable this week than last. Under the circumstances, 80% isn't too bad. Are you back to working in your packet days? You seem to do well when you work some of those in.

So this is what I’ve been busy making for the past 2 days for a friend’s birthday party tonight. Black Forest Cake, totally from scratch.

That is gorgeous. Your friend should feel really special to get such a gift. And I'll bet it's delicious.
