We've never had a dog but maybe that should be our next pet. I miss having cats but they aren't practical given that we're away all winter. Cats don't travel well and a 1500 mile car ride would be hell for them and for us as well. We had lunch today with my friend who took care of the girls every winter. She has a pet siting service although she' scaling it back as she gets older (turned 65). She doesn't take any new clients anymore. She does a house watch and plant watering now that we don't have cats. We're giving her our cat tree for her girls. I'm going through all the cat items and giving to friends or finding a place to donate them. Our girls didn't want for much in the way of equipment.

Or maybe the bucket is a diet control device to keep you from eating. LOL

    Pam - too funny!!

I had an appointment with the surgeon today. I'm discharged! He agrees with stopping p/t at the end of the month. I can lift anything. Keep doing my at home exercises. Next May (which will be a year) go back and see him if I don't think I've regained "enough" function. OR if I want to consider having the plate taken out. Never asked me how it feels. Quickie maybe 5 minute appointment. He ended with a literal sales pitch. Never heard anything like it from a doctor. "Keep my card" (which he never gave me) and let me know if you or your family or friends needs anything with their hands, or wrists or shoulders..."

Wow, a sales pitch from the surgeon? Next he'll be doing TV commercials. Ridiculous. It's wonderful that you made so much progress. I'm sure you'll be glad to be doing your own PT at home.

What struck me was it was done in a very TV pitch man voice. Super bizarre!

I am embarrassed to say our governor made this list (but proud to say I didn't vote for him last time or this time and this time I contributed to his opponent's campaign):

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/racist-attacks-candidates-of-color-midterm-elections_us_5bc0e7b5e4b0bd9ed559f1d7

I knew there was tons of rascism still around. I'm not a fool and I live south of the Mason Dixon line in a state that had slaves. But I'm still absolutely stunned at how free they all feel to unleash.

I grew up in an all white town but somehow was lucky enough to be born to intelligent parents who brought us up to be color blind. This makes me sick!

A Catholic priest will hold mass for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to protect him from a crew of Brooklyn witches who are planning an event dedicated to publicly hexing Kavanaugh and “all rapists.”

I could not make this up.

I despise all of the political ads running on constant rotation on every channel right now. I’ve seen the ones Pete Sessions is running against Colin Allred and they are bad. They really distort Allred’s positions on every subject. I don’t live in that district so I can’t vote in that race, but I would vote for Allred if I could. I can’t wait for this election cycle to be over.

Pam - if I still drank, be right there with you! LOL!

I actually contributed to three campaigns this fall (small dollars). I just feel like I need to look for things I can do.

Now that I can drive, I'm trying to get caught up on doctor appointments, vet appointments and anything DH needs me to drive him to (like colonoscopy). I took Lola and Smokie to the vet today. Smokie doesn't need to go back for a dental. Lola does Of course. Because the other way around would be easy. . LOL!

My state is heavily Democratic and Liberal so the ads haven't been too bad this cycle. I gue the Republicans figure they don't have much of a chance so I haven't seen a lot of attack ads. We have a Republican Governor, Charlie Baker. He's the most popular governor in the nation and he's opposed many of Trump;s action. I like the job he's done so I'll be supporting him. Being elected in a Democratic state isn't easy o that will tell you how impressed the voters are by Baker. He's a man of real integrity.

We have had record setting rains this month, with more on the way and if you’ve ever visited Texas, you might know that we love our Whataburger franchises, so this picture made me LOL!

Watching the news tonight they reported that our rainfall total for this past week was over 9 inches at an official site about 5 miles from our house. I knew it was a lot, but didn’t know it was that much. We’ve had a couple of dry sunny days now so are starting to dry out a little. I think we may have more rain midweek, so I plan to try to get my errands done tomorrow and Tuesday while it’s sunny and warmer.

I saw the new version of A Star Is Born today. It was really well done. I’ve never been a big Lady Gaga fan, but she did a great job in this movie. I do really like Bradley Cooper, and he did a fantastic job directing this movie as well as starring in it. And he can sing pretty well, too. I’d recommend it if you were thinking about seeing this movie.

I've been missing in action. I've been working every day and am off to work this morning. I had to change my password as I couldn't get into the site with the password I always used.

Midnight doesn't bother the toilet paper nor does he have a thing about boxes.

Pam - wow, 9 inches of rain? Our basement would be swimming!

Jean - our black cat Smokey LOVES boxes. She fits the stereotype purrfectly.

Maryanne, fortunately basements are a rarity around here but some areas did experience flooding. Our house is on a hill so we never have to worry about flooding. When we first moved into our house 24 years ago there were some drainage problems for the homes behind us as they were the ones that got all the runoff when it rained. The developers of the subdivision and the city did a poor job of planning the drainage. So a committee was formed with reps from the city, the homeowners, developers, and some of the builders to address the issues. Eventually, solutions were found with all of the parties contributing financially and peace was restored in the neighborhood, lol! It used to get pretty tense with a couple of the homeowners whose properties received the brunt of the runoff when it rained.

Smokie says tell Mr. Midnight that he doesn't know what he's missing with the boxes!

I'm sure you're glad for the work but I bet you'r tired!

The streets here go downhill from us so I can just imagine what some of the basements look like!
