I just remembered that I bought a carton of ice cream last week, but it has gone untouched. How is that for restraint? How is that for being forgetful?

Whichever tactic works for the ice cream. I actually like cauliflower. I've been buying Cauliflower crust pizza. It doesn't taste a bit like cauliflower and it's very low carb. And tasty as well.

That is SUPER restraint. I'm impressed.

I have a pint in the freezer. The fact that it's untouched is amazing.

As part of trying to ease myself into better eating, I stocked up on ice cream minis. When the minis have 160-270 calories, that really highlights what's in a pint!

I was worried yesterday because Safeway had NO weight control oatmeal and no empty shelf space where it would go. They had the high protein but it has more calories. I was relieved at the Giant today to find the full line of oatmeal including weight control!

That's interesting! Do you find that at the regular grocery store?

Redbook is joining McCall's and Ladies Home Journal in the magazine graveyard. Of the original "Seven Sisters" of magazines, that leaves Better Homes and Gardens, Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, and Woman's Day.

I originally got 6 of the 7 (not BH&G). They've disappeared out of my mailbox one by one. And I have to admit Good Housekeeping doesn't have much to actually read in it any more.

Yes, I've found it in 2 of our chain markets with the frozen pizza. They sell a plain cauliflower crust that you can sauce and top yourself. They also have cheese, Margarita and veggie varieties. I like it better than the Fit and Free pizzas I'd been buying. It's about a 10 inch pizza and a serving is half the pizza. I cut a half into 3 slices and it feels like I'm getting a huge serving. Here's a link about them http://eatcaulipower.com/our-story .

I subscribed to Good housekeeping for about 40 years. The content ha gotten less and less the last couple of years. And we only get one or two months of magazines forwarded when we do a temporary change of address for the winter. I wrote on my last invoice that I would not be renewing again. So I probably have received my last issue.

Helene - neat! I shall go on the hunt! I'm not much for those Fit and Free pizzas.

I took Good Housekeeping for years, along with Ladies Home Journal. I quit taking LHJ a long time ago, but only discontinued GH about 2 years ago. It seemed as if it was really skewing toward a younger demographic and there just wasn’t much in each issue that appealed to me. Currently the only magazine I take is Southern Living, and it may be on borrowed time at this point.

I bought a carton of Halo Top ice cream a couple of months ago in my favorite flavor, mint chocolate chip. It tasted like mint toothpaste and most of it is still in the freezer. I’m having no problem at all ignoring it, lol!

I've never tried Halo Top brand. Your comment doesn't make me want to run out and buy some. I'm not a big ice cream eater. We have some quarts from a local ice cream hop that closes for the season in September. I've had a bit here and there but we still have more than half of it left.

Ice cream is a big downfall for me. LOVE it!! I've tried Halo Top and Enlightened and have to say yuk!

As soon as I can lift again, I have to dig out/organize my food. Right after I broke my wrist we got water in the basement. The usual division of labor is DH moves everything around and I clean up later. I haven't been able to clean up so much of my food stash is buried under boxes and "stuff".

I'm still working my way through DWTS from Monday night. I didn't know - Camryn Manheim has a son. He's doing pretty well.

The entire last night episode of Survivor leaked in advance. Not sure but that may be a first. I didn't watch it but did take note of who was eliminated. In the seasons without returning players, spoilers tend to be sparse and vague. I like spoilers for some reason. I'd be happy having the complete elimination list and winner in advance. Yeah, I'm weird!

You've mentioned that you read the end of the mysteries first. I'm guessing you don't like surprises. So it would make sense you wouldn't mind knowing who goes home in advance. I'm just the opposite. I never try to figure out a mystery in advance. I just let it unfold. I rarely watch the previews they show talking about next week's show. I want to be surprised and find those previews spoil the show for me.

Melania thinks she's the most bullied person in the world? Seriously? Oh, poor little rich wife #3.

Huh. Learned a new term today for why the Donald holds the weird campaign rallies. (Beyond that he's just nuts.) It's called "narcissistic supply". The term made immediate sense so I googled to see if it's a real thing and it appears to be.

I've never heard of narcissistic supply by Trump sure fits the description. I've read that he doesn't drink but comparing adulation to an alcoholic high fits what I see in his behavior. What I find amazing is that seemingly intelligent people approve of his behavior and cheer him on.

At the start of Survivor I never would have expected Jeremy to go but his sneakiness and bullying did it for me. What was surprising was that everyone was on board. BTW, I saw Mike on an episode of The Dog Whisperer a while back. Caesar eliminated the chaos Mike's dogs were creating in his home. he seemed like a nice guy.

    From Stephen Fishbach:

    https://people.com/tv/survivor-recap-jeremy-natalie-blow-up-game/

Angelina convinces the tribe to vote out Jeremy...Angelina gets the Fishy for whipping the votes behind the scenes. But I worry for Angelina’s long-term health. She gets her way, but she also outs herself as a big player. On day 9, at the tribe’s first tribal council, it may be too much too soon.

Sometimes it's the little things. Like picking up a container of diced onions and a container of diced peppers every week.

Used to get from Super Fresh every week. They went out of business.

Then I got from Giant every week. They installed misters in the produce section so now their diced onions and peppers are soaking wet and as far as I'm concerned unusable.

Then I got from Weis every week. And they got erratic. Sometimes they'd have, sometimes not.

Yesterday at Weis the shelf labels still said diced onions and diced peppers. The containers still said diced onions and diced peppers. But INSIDE the containers were sliced onions and peppers. Better than nothing but still... I guess some employee decided to take the easy route???

And after all this, one might ask why I don't do it myself. And the honest answer is I do when I have to but I'd rather not!

I love the convenience of pre-sliced veggies. Like you, I could do it myself and also save money. But I feel pampered in a way when I buy ready to use veggies. That's an interesting point about the misters. I sometimes buy the sliced veggies at Stop and Stop. They have the same parent company as Giant. They even have the same purple and mustard colored logo. I've noticed the wetness of the veggies but didn't connect it to the misters. They do seem to spoil too quickly. I suppose I could dump them into a paper towel lined strainer to dry them off when I get them. Then putting them in a clean, dry container probably would extend the life. The veggies I buy at Trader Joes seem to last better but I have to travel farther to go there. I don't make a special trip so I'm only there once in a while. I also buy the bagged salads for the same reason.

So many things disappearing. There used to be numerous varieties of steam in bag fresh veggies and they're slowly disappearing.

I went to "Sprouts" today because I felt like finally checking it out. I miss the Mars that used to be there SO much I avoided it before. It's like the little "organic" section of the grocery store blown up into a whole store. I was hoping for whole grain pancakes. No frozen breakfast items at all unless you count bagels. Weird. Whole grain pancake mix but you have to add all kinds of stuff to it. (There's a theme here - I like convenience foods.).

I DID find the cauliflower pizza crusts. AND pizzas with cauliflower crusts. I got a margherita pizza. 330 calories for 1/2 a pizza. DH panicked until I explained he doesn't have to eat it.

They also have my beloved Beecher's Worlds Best Mac n Cheese that I usually have to order online. Now we're not talking a diet item there. Other end of the spectrum actually. But it's SO good. Even better than my late mother's homemade.

They were stocking so it was hard to get around the store. (What ever happened to stocking overnight). I might go back some day and hope to see a little more of it.

I actually don’t mind chopping my own onions and peppers. I’ve worked on mastering good knife skills, so it’s pretty easy and quick when I do it. Plus, it guarantees they are fresher and diced to the size I want. It really helps to have a good knife and cutting board. I used to buy frozen chopped onions and bell peppers and they weren’t bad. You might check to see if you can find those.

I live in t-shirts and Lands End sport knit pants. Turned out to be super helpful when I only had one arm.

I have whole collections of cat, eagle and Hamilton t-shirts.

But also a collection of protest t-shirts.

I just went to ebay at lunch today to see if anyone was selling "impolite, arrogant woman" t-shirts yet. Sort of surprised me that no one is. Wouldn't take long to mock up a photo and get it listed. They sure got up the "I DO care do U?" shirts quickly enough after Melania was photographed in her jacket. And it didn't take long to get up the RBG t-shirts (I have the one that says "The patriarchy isn't going to smash itself").

P.S. I gave up too soon. There ARE shirts. E.g. https://www.dailydot.com/irl/impolite-arrogant-woman-shirt/
