Looking forward to Survivor. The concept sounds interesting.

Survivor is one of the few shows I watch "live". I just hope the "Davids" aren't totally outgunned/out-manned/outmaneuvered/whatever you want to call it.

Loved the "can opener" post. Gave me a needed laugh.

I forgot to see what was on TV tonight. I'm watching a "Criminal Minds" show via Netflix.

Canceled a job for today. It is raining again as usual, but I didn't want to "herd" kids on a field trip in rain.

    I love this:

Maryanne---I feel so domesticated and well-trained!

Instead of working, I am home because many of the roads are covered with water. The one positive is that there is sunshine today for the first time in days and no rain. It has overdone itself with rain this week and yesterday.

Water is now backed up into my street. I think it will be down by tomorrow, however. Had the rains continued, it would still be around.

Jean - Happy October to you, too! I can't believe all your flooding (but no, there's no climate change <sarcasm mode off>)

Normally I would be putting away decorations and getting out Halloween but because I'm still weight restricted I decided at the beginning of September I'd just put out a few "fall" decorations and call it good for this year. Most years we have no real fall.

I have p/t this morning and get "evaluated" on Wednesday. I think last month if she'd told me I was done I'd have been super upset - I wasn't ready. But now I really sort of am. I think progress is now at a snail's pace and I'm SO behind in everything.

Maryanne, I did watch the reboot of Murphy Brown. It was one of my favorite shows the first time around and I really liked the premiere episode. I’m a sucker for shows that have clever writing. Hillary’s segment was great!

I had my sister visiting for the weekend, so it was busy. She has her 50 year high school reunion coming up later this month and needed to shop for clothes to wear to some of the events. She’s been dieting for several months and has lost around 15 pounds which puts her near where I was when I started my diet. I had cleaned out my closet so we started with the things that are too big for me now and she found several things that will work for her or will soon fit if she continues to lose weight, then we went shopping to find a few other things she needed. It was fun helping her shop and just spending time with her. Despite living only 2 hours away, we don’t get to see each other as often as we’d like.

DH was camping this weekend, so after my sister left I had a couple of day on my own which I enjoyed. I’ve always enjoyed having some alone time now and then.

Pam - your sister must be my age. My 50th reunion was this summer (I didn't attend, of course, since I couldn't drive).

I'm sad my sister and her husband felt the need to move to Arizona. I miss her. They seem happy - they moved into one of those neighborhoods that's apparently all friends.

I watched Murphy Brown. It was pretty good for a reboot. It still had the flavor of the original show.

I got my new license yesterday. MA has new requirement for documentation needed. They haven't publicized it so I originally showed up without any of the documents. I had to order my birth certificate and marriage license and it took 2 weeks to get them. I needed my SS card and my license and something with y address to prove MA residence. I had a utility bill but that was rejected because it was in DH's name, not mine. My name and address was on my checks but that wasn't an accepted form of proof. The clerk suggested I go to the local branch of my bank and have them print a statement. I did that so after 4 trips, I have a new license. A passport is acceptable truth but I don't have one. My current license expires Thursday so I was sweating pulling all of this together in time. Whew!

Helene - whew! I don't have an original birth certificate so I've been worrying about all these requirements. I did order one but it's obvious it was printed/sent in 2018. I don't know if we have our marriage license anywhere. I have a fairly new social security card and do have my license. I think our utility bills are all in DH's name. Maybe I can never prove I'm me!

How did the bank printed statement differ from a statement you print off your account online or receive in the mail from the bank?

Our absentee ballots came already. Pretty early I'd think. I don't know why everyone in MD doesn't do absentee ballots. No reason in this state to wait in line at a polling place. Unless maybe you just moved here or just became old enough to vote or something. But certainly those groups only wouldn't make the lines very long.

It was the same statement the bank sends me but I didn't think to bring it. If I'd thought to bring it the firt time, I could have saved myself a trip. I thought the utility statement with the same address as my license and the same last name as my husband would work. Everything has to match exactly. I had to re-do my signature because I took DH's name when we married and I started using my maiden name as my middle initial. I had to re-sign using the middle initial I was born with even though I haven't used that initial in 46 years. I had them take off the visual restriction (glasses) because I don't need glasses since cataract surgery.

I ordered my birth certificate and marriage license from a company called Vital Check. Many of the states use them as one of their recommended vendor. You could see if he utility companies would add your name to the account. That way, your name will appear on the bills. We use a PO Box as a mailing address so I don't have many things that show the street address. The bank statement shows both addresses so I could use that.

If you have sufficient time, you can plan and get the documents you need. My problem was I had less than 3 weeks to pull all together before my license would expire.

MA just started early voting in the last election. It's so much easier than waiting til election day and standing in line. With all that's happening in our country today, I'm hoping people show up and vote this fall.

I think all of those new requirements are due to TSA requirements since most people use a drivers license for ID when they fly. Individual states may have different rules, but I don’t think an original birth certificate is required as long as the one you present is certified by the state or county that issued it. I did mine a couple of years ago. I actually do have my original birth certificate that was hand printed on a papyrus scroll, lol! It’s getting rather faint and fragile now but I do have it. They also take electronic fingerprints here in Texas, which I found interesting.
