Our Giant has senior day on Tuesdays. I try to avoid Tuesday both because it's really busy and BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS GIVE ME THE SENIOR DISCOUNT WITHOUT ASKING! LOL!

The cat show is all set up. Whew am I sore! The Mary Jo Putney display looks good if I do say so myself. We'll see how many people enter the giveaway for the autographed book. I'm sure people will realize it's a blatant attempt to give names for our mailing list and I certainly won't try to hide it. After all there are entire 10 x 10 booths at the Pet Expo with zero other purpose.

Mary Jo emailed me last evening that the current book - the one that Pretty Boy is in - Once a Scoundrel - was named one of the 10 best romances this year by Booklist.

I still sort of wish Pretty Boy hadn't been adoptable - I loved that cat - but he certainly fell into a good situation.

Maryanne, Have you ever read Karin Slaughter? I'm reading her newest book. Pieces of Her. I can't put it down. I'll be done today (day 2). I usually don't go through a book that fast but this is a real page turner. It's not part of the earlier series; totally new characters. Good luck with the cat show.

Love Karin Slaughter, especially the Will Trent and Sara Linton books.

Have you read Karen Rose? My friend Bonnie and I have been devouring those.

Bonnie and I are thrilled that we can still find new (to us) authors to enjoy.

No, I haven't read Karen Rose. I'll have to check her out. I love the Sara/Will books. I was disappointed this wasn't one of them until I started it. It's got flashbacks between two time periods. Once I got used to that, I loved it.

I remember having to prove I was eligible for a senior discount. Oh, the good old days.

This is my favorite rendition of our state song but it also sounds good will sung by over 40,000 people at a football game.

Off to work today and tomorrow.

    Boy, that's one industrious cat.

My guys can occasionally get that industrious when it comes to treats. Tuffy recently knocked a (plastic) jar of treats onto the floor and was puzzling over how to get inside it.

I learned my lesson years ago - no treats in bags or containers with easy to snap off plastic lids.

How did the cat show go? Was it one day or two?

It was two days. Definitely slow. They aren't spending much time/effort/money of marketing.

Loving the comments to this article:

    https://theslot.jezebel.com/powerful-men-continue-to-tell-on-themselves-1829266878

“I’m thinking, is there any man in this room that wouldn’t be subjected to such an allegation? A false allegation?” Iowa Rep. Steve King said at an Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition event on Saturday. “How can you disprove something like that? Which means, if that’s the new standard, no man will ever qualify for the Supreme Court again.” King called the allegations “character assassination.”

I'm okay with an all female Supreme Court for the next couple decades.

Pam - I'm not THAT bad when I talk to my cats. LOL!

Jean - someone went to a lot of trouble to photoshop those. Too funny! (At least I assume they are photoshopped).

Can you imagine being a kid going trick or treating and getting "fun sized mini-salads?"

I spent today at an elementary school that has the second grade class from Hades; they haven't changed much since the first grade. It isn't the teachers as they have had great classes in the past. I turned down subbing for this class last year as first graders. I think I'll turn down any second grade classes this year at this school.

It is enough to make me want to eat all the bad stuff but I don't have any in the house right now.

Well, that's smart (or fortuitous LOL!)!

Carrot cake from the Outback or its caramel cheesecake would definitely do it for me! They have the best carrot cake and the serving is big enough for 3.

Another day of rain and another day of flash flood warnings. We had a major highway covered with water last evening but it receded. I heard on the weather this morning that this September has already gone on record in our state for the most rain in September.

I started the day with one of those Special K breakfast sandwiches.
