New Month! New Thread!

Summer is winding down with lots of BBQs and last summer flings. As lushes we eagerly await the new flavors of fall and the way the will affect us but for now we will enjoy the last of the summer's Ice Cold Beverages.

Yay August!! Can you believe it??

I'm actually really looking forward to summer being over. It's been so busy with 3 weddings...complete with multiple bridal showers & bachelorette parties....trips to KC (for the weddings)...hotel bills. LOL. Man oh man, ready for a break!!

However...with the beautiful weather of fall also comes football & fall beers! YAY! :)

I do love summer because I love the heat but Autumn is my favorite season. Comfy oversized sweaters, fires in the fireplace, bright leaves, falling leaves, the smell of Autumn, hot apple cider, brisk air that's not yet too cold, pie and of course Halloween which is my all time favorite holiday and football! Oh and of course it's the start of the holidays and family get togethers

    Ahhhh, hot August nights.

    Robin said to me

"Gary, I think we can do this if we put our minds to it if we want to. I just remind myself that I don't have to not drink if I don't want to not drink but I love have the calories gone and the energy back. "

Good outlook! Accept ourselves as we are, try to be better but realize we are human! Sorta takes the pressure off and the guilt- which can be self destructive on its own.

So when I chose not to drink, I plan on a special snack! Win win!

Glad to see you still love us ChLoE and keep up with the thread!

Syd, it has been a great summer so far hasn't it. We will all stick together through the fall and winter too. Good company on this thread.

Everyone else seems to have had a busy summer as well and is looking forward to Autumn, football and all the fun stuff around that. What a bunch of positive thinkers!

    smiley-scared002.gif Agh...where did July go???
Actually I am glad it is gone and so ready for Fall. This summer has been rainy and humid and just plain gross down here.
Went tubing down the Hooch today just like in my ticker photo. Although with all this rain the tubing was great. Not a smidge of alcohol yet, but I did make a pitcher of margarita the other night and there is still some in the fridge calling my name. It's either that or real food...tough decision.

not a zero last night but incredible moderation. One and only one skinny long island ice tea at Red Lobster. I may have to turn in my lush card if I keep this up.

    A recap:

    Monday - 0
    Tuesday - 0
    Wednesday - 0
    Thursday - 0
    Friday - 0
    Saturday - 0

The scary part is it was surprisingly easy. First weekend since before I started drinking that I had 0's. husband and I were in bed ready for sleep at 10:25 last night, kind of missed that. Also nice not have a hangover yesterday or today and I'm up early to enjoy this beautiful weather  My lush card may have to be detained but it's worth it since I am feeling nice and slim this morning.

What was not easy was waiting for Shark Week which starts tonight!!!!!!!

    way to Kat!

I gave in to the vodka monster last night but I will do Mon-Thursday zeros again for sure this coming week. I am leaving my options open for tonight. Yesterday we had someone clear out our back yard. Now I kind of have a clean slate to start with. we are puting in fake grass in a little spot. I have a really tiny yard and most of it is a paved patio with beds around it. We are going to build up the beds to raised ones and gravel around the sides of the house. my side yards are only about 4 feet on each side. I hate that my neighbors each have about 10 feet on each side and we got totally gyped.

Wow Kat! I agree, the longer you go without drinking, the easier it gets.

Friday I had about 6 glasses of wine on no dinner so was pretty drunk. My two girlfriends and I drank 3 bottles of wine at our painting class (over 3 hours). I lost count Saturday. Had my first drink around 2pm, went to a festival and had 3 drinks, and then went to a party where the wine was flowing. Then drank another bottle at home with husband. Had a couple glasses of wine at my father in law's birthday party last night. Plan is 0 today and tomorrow and then I'm off work Thursday and Friday to hang with my sister and her family. Which means lots of wine. The remaining 3 weeks in August I'm going to limit my drinking to Fridays and Saturdays. Maybe a couple free passes. Need to bring it back in again......

I decided to make shredded beef enchiladas for dinner so of course that meant tequila shots while cooking and eating. I did a good job on the Cabo Wabo Anejo. Yum!

So back on track today. zeros for Monday thru Thursday at a minimum.

Friday-we played some pool and had about 4 cocktails, 2 beers and 1 shot.
Saturday-LOTS of medioce beer at retirement party.
Sunday-LOTS of amazing beers at home!!!! I honestly didn't even keep track yesterday, but if I had to guess 4 1/2-5.
Sleepy today but what else is new...that's my deal on Mondays
    I probably won't drink tonight.

0 Friday and 0 last night.
    Several cocktails on Saturday.

I need to work out. I'm in a pissy mood and that always makes me feel better. :grumble:

Sky box at the the Cubs game was AWESOME...stocked with beers, snacks and hot dogs. Hubs got the tickets thru work and my sports-a-holic son was in heaven. What more could a girl and a boy ask for? Of course, Cubs lost. What's another 100 years?

One more lushy day for me and I will have to ABSTAIN.

Mood can often determine whether a drink is had....good mood=drinks....bad mood=lots of drinks!!!

    Monday-0
Tuesday-I'm not sure. I am going to try and refrain. lenny is working overtime tonight and that usually leads to a few drinks, but we'll see!
