Wow congrats Kat! I never realized what I would be getting into with this thread. It has been very uplifting hearing about your lives- and now two (Kat and Chloe) of the group are expecting!

Thirtytwo years ago my wife and I had much the same feelings regarding becoming parents. It can be so overwhelming! It's not like parenting comes with an instruction booklet. Each kid is an individual. But, they are so precious and adorable. First time seeing them, first smile, first words, first every things! You both will be great!

Going for zero number four. But with two babies on the way- I will honor you both tomorrow and buy a nice bottle of scotch!

I won't be able to have Sam Adams Octoberfest :grumble: :frown:

That is my very favorite Fall beer...although most do talk of this pumpkin beer that I might try this year...just doesn't seem right to put pumpkin in beer!!

I love pumplin beer. Especially with a pumpkin Pie spice and sugar rimmed glass and a splash of vanilla vodka.

Back to my lushy ways. vodka and rum along with wine. last night. Oh well.

First things first Kim, some pumpkin beers are awesome and some suck...got to try them all to find your fav

Kat, I never had those grand dreams of my wedding day either, which actually made the planning really nice and easy and we were able to do it together because I had no clue!!! When Len and I first starting dating, almost 13yrs ago, we talked about having 3-4 kids, he is one of 5 and I loved how close they all were!! Today, we couldn't be further from that idea! We are not planning on children but get the benefit of of his large family with lots of nieces, nephews and 2nd cousins

I'm sure you guys will be great. A strong relationship is the flagship of being good parents!! Good luck! xo

    Monday-0
    Tuesday-8oz of wine
Wednesday-4 strawberry kiwi vodkas with sprite zero
    Thursday-^^^^same^^^^
    Friday-wine/vodka whatever!

Tomorrow we have two happenings....in the afternoon we are going to a service/get together for my brother in laws father, that passed away monday night. Then we have to go to my sister in law's 30th bday party (she is taking turning 30 very hard...I keep telling her 30's are better than 20's, for sure). I am planning on coming home tomorrow night I just need to keep the drinking in check and drink lots of water. I wanna wake up in my bed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to try and tone down the drinking next week.....not saying I won't be drinking but less...4 cocktails a night, is that really necessary??!!!!

Unfortunately for lushes like us, it's a way of life...:drinker: :drinker:

Day 1 wasn't too bad - although at lunch time I thought a beer would be nice. It's day 3 that I will start to feel the effects. I'm back at work tomorrow and need to get ready for the **** they throw at me.

I've got word that my Dad is having surgery for a lesion on his pancreas. They will also take out his spleen if the lesion is adhered. He's already had one kidney removed; so, I am like "WTF?" It almost sounds like a procedure called a "whipple" which is a long, hard recovery. It's hard to believe because they just took a trip to Cedar Point amusement park last week and he was riding all the rollercoasters - even one's that I cringe at. I am glad that he's having it done at the hospital where my sister works at. She'll make sure he gets the best care.

Kim- thinking of you and your Dad!

OMG PUMPKIN BEER!!!! I cannot wait until this kid is here!!! I am craving beer like nobody's business! 11 more weeks!

Oh and I am craving vodka too....kinda strange I am not craving wine really at all. Since that was typically my drink of choice. Maybe because I have allowed myself a couple small glasses over the past few months, so it doesn't seem as forbidden

I love the pumpkin beers as well and like Kate said you just have to find one you like.

Thoughts and prayers are with and your dad nisi

Hang in there Mama Lush, if 0's Monday through Thursday is what you want then you will get back there  You've done it before, just take baby steps :flowerforyou:

I'm glad to hear you allowed yourself some wine Chloe. I have been debating if I would do that or not. Guess 2 small glasses a week is alright but we shall see. Husband didn't seem to think that was a bad idea and he's pretty strict when it comes to the bad things haha so when he was telling me to have a glass at his dads work party I almost did. Instead I had my gallon of water haha.

My friend came over for Shark Week and I told her about the pregnancy so she had some wine for me while I had not cider

It is a very dreary day here today and I would rather sleep but I'm going to get my butt in gear and work out before my Gram gets me. Then it's dentist time followed by telling mom and gram the news.

    Happy Friday lushes!

Sending positive thought to you and your Dad, Kim.

I had a couple of small glasse of wine when I was carrying my kids. Especially in the last trimester. My doctor told me to have a small glass now and then, so that I would quit stressing, he thought the stress was bad for the baby and the wine wouldn't hurt, I have two beautiful, brilliant daughters so I guess it didn't hurt.

Happy Friday!!! Doug is supposed to get Lasik today but he woke up with a swollen eye. Not sure if it is a bug bite or what. Not sure if he is having the surgery today or not. :ohwell:

Thanks for all the good vibes for Dad. I am 95% sure everything will be fine. It just kind of sucks for him because he is so vivacious.

I'm thinking of the lasix after the new year....nervous about the procedure but to not wear glasses & contacts after 40 years would be awesome...I'll be taking a xanax before tho.

I had lasik 2yrs ago and its fabulous...they gave me a xanax  oh and then they gave me a glass of champagne afterwards...I was out for several hours after the procedure but it was perfect because I woke and could see....it really is worth it!!!!!!!!!

WOW oh WOW...I go out of town for a couple days and don't check in and all sorts of things are happening!

Kat - Congrats to you! I am thinking there may be a correlation with not planning kids and big weddings and lushiness? I too never concerned myself with getting married and having kids and lo and behold I did both and did it on the young side. My excuse was my frontal lobe wasn't fully developed. You are going to be an awesome, cool mom!

Kim - More good vibes for your dad, and a :flowerforyou: for you!

Pumpkin beer never really tempted me but ^THIS^ sounds awesome, although I am betting it is about the equivalent in calories to one meal!

As far as lasik goes I think I would prefer the xanax and the champagne. The thought of them cutting my eye (even with a laser) freaks me out.

Last two nights, no drinking. I was visiting my folks and they are uber religious. So instead of wine they fed me macaroni both nights which in my opinion is worse as far as health goes. No antioxidants, turns straight to glucose. Mind you, I  pasta but my stomach looks like I swallowed a small watermelon now

    Cheers!

My husband would like it but they won't do it until you're 30 or until your eyes stop changing and his just keep getting worse so they won't do it yet :ohwell: They also told him sometimes depending on different situations it isn't worth getting because at some point you'll need glasses or contacts again. I hope our little one gets my eyes, never had issues and I don't have to wear glasses or contacts. I also hope our little one gets my titanium immune system and not husbands stomach issues or somewhat weak immune system.

Mama Lush that makes sense to me, stress bad for baby, red wine has antioxidants and stress relieving powers so that can't be so bad haha. I'm guessing I'll have a small glass here and there of red wine, but probably only at home with husband. When I think about those people who somehow didn't know they were pregnant and smoked and drank heavily but had fine babies then a small glass of vino here and there to keep mommy calm doesn't seem so bad. Luckily none of our friends really smoke so I won't even have to worry about second hand smoke. I'm sort of hoping having a grand baby on the way may sway my mom to really try quitting those gross cigs. One can hope!

Thanks wolf  I sure hope I can be the strict but cool mom. I cannot wait for mattress forts haha. I'm excited for my announcement although husband doesn't like the idea but it's so me! I'm sitting here with my Gram like nothing has changed.... Little does she know in a few short hours she will have the news that she has a great grand baby on the way

On the subject of Lasik. I had it done 13 1/2 years ago. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. I slept for a few hours afterwards and woke up with no pain at all and the ability to see. I am still thrilled with it and I still have 20/15 vision. I don't even need cheater readers unless it is really really early in the morning or very very low light (some restaurants) or really teeny tiny print.

See I'm the guy in that scenario.

And speaking of pain in the head..I'm fighting some sort of virus and my right lymph nodes behind my ear and jaw are all swollen so I'm taking it easy. I wish I could just take the nail out and it would be better.

So no drinking for me..2 0's in a row so far.

Oh no Mama Lush! That sucks, hope the rum is helping  Both mom and gram teared up and almost smothered me with hugs. Gram said it was the best thing that's happened to her since my wedding haha. She's excited because she'll actually get to see my baby. My cousins don't visit her and she only sees their kids at Christmas :ohwell:

Hope you feel better soon SoCal :flowerforyou: stinks you don't feel we'll but a 0 is a 0 in my book

Hey lushes. I have been away and very lushy. Between my sister, husband, myself with a little help from my bro in law, we drank a case of wine in 3 nights. And some beers. And some tequilla shots. I finished off with 2 beers and a cocktail yesterday. Now it's time to give my liver a rest! I'm on the weekend only drinking train.

I quickly skimmed and caught a few things....

Kim, hope your Dad's surgery went/goes okay.

I love pumpkin beer. I saw Schlafley pumpkin at the store the other day and it made me excited for fall. Of course I prefer it out of the tap....

Kate, strawberry kiwi vodka?! I always love to read about your flavored vodkas.

Kat! Congrats! I will tell you there was a time in my life I never thought I'd remarry or have kids. I have never been an overly emotional person or girly girl really, but I have to say having a child is so much better than I ever imagined. I didn't think I'd like being a Mom so much. It's probably the funnest thing I've ever done, and I've done a lot of fun *kitten*! As for the drinking....I would have a glass every now and agian. Sometimes 2, after my 2nd trimester. I'm with Chloe, it got easier the longer I went. I also nursed my daughter for 10 months exclusively. If I got drunk, I'd just pump and dump and give her milk I'd stocked. With my next one, I reckon I'll be a little more open to giving formula earlier in place of breast milk. I am a big proponent of BFing. Not only is is so great for the baby, it's free, and you will drop weight like nobody's business. Seriously...I was eating 1800-2000 daily calories and losing weight. I've not been skinnier since. Good luck and I hope you have a great pregnancy!

Everyone else, hope you've been doign well.

Hope you are feeling better Syd!
Robin-That SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How's that cherry rum? And who makes it?

Friday-1beer, 2 shots and 2 glasses of wine
Saturday-margaritas and red bull and vodkas
Sunday-3beers and 2 glasses of wine.

I'm having lunch with my mom today, so I'll probably have a glass or two of wine, then tonight, who knows.. I'm gonna try moderating this week, so instead of 4 cocktails...maybe just a glass or two of wine.

Great weekend, lots of drinks- had a blast.

Going for the Mon-Thurs abstinence. Makes for a guilt free weekend.

Also hope to get the scale moving south again. A few more pounds off the gut and I will feel good about wearing my firefighter helmet outside- and nothing else- to annoy our busy-body neighbor lady.

    Have a great week all!

Right?! That was my thinking when I started. I definitely plan on sticking with that plan after baby.

A friend had a Sam Octoberfest last night, it made me very sad. Everyone who likes that better have plenty for me this Fall! I'm feeling tired today so just laundry is on the housework list for today. I'll do the floors tomorrow, I will be getting a work out in though.

I was just thinking, what happened to Dot?
