@prgirl39mfp You are doing so well! It takes a lot of moving to reach 10,000 steps and to do it consistently is remarkable.2

@nebslp thanks a lot for your support.2

Monday I hit my step goal but didn't take my daily walk, due to some unpleasant news earlier in the day. Yesterday I was still having a pity party, so again didn't take my walk. TODAY will be my Monday. Today I will pick myself back up, brush myself off and take a purposeful walk.
Have a great day everyone!3 -

I hope you’re feeling better about things today. Enjoy your walk!3 -

Things have hopefully settled down in my neck of the woods, and I'm happy to be back to posting again.
I looked back to find out when was the last time I posted here, and then to look in my exercise calendar to see how many Mondays I actually did exercise during that time, and at the same time was able to clearly see, again, my pattern of neglecting what is most needful for me to do for myself when life gets more difficult .
From May through October I logged exercise on 19 Mondays . I did not log any exercise, or any activity, on 7 Mondays .
November 5: 5 LS's Mix & Match Walk Blasters, gazelle & rebounder, more autumn cleanup in the garden.
Yay for the Move It Monday Weekly Challenge!

I moved this Monday! I met my sister at Curves.5

Well done @texasgardnr and @77tes! And I agree, @prgirl39mfp, yard work IS exercise!
20 minute treadmill walk for me yesterday.2 -
Welcome back @texasgardnr!
I went for a 30 minute walk last evening with my dog, and it was so refreshing! I even heard owls hooting...was pretty cool! Happy I finally moved on a Monday, and I was going all day on less than 5 hours of sleep! (Can you tell I'm proud of myself for making myself go? LOL!)

Thank you @PackerFanInGB and @themedalist! It is good to be back. It's always way more fun moving on Monday with y'all .
@PackerFanInGB, Yay for an awesome and fun walk yesterday! Owls are pretty cool to hear! Several months ago we actually had one in our neighborhood for a short while. I enjoyed listening to its hooting also!
@themedalist, excellent walking on the treadmill yesterday! I looked up on Amazon your book recommendation of The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown from another post and found it at my library. I downloaded the e-book version on my husband's kindle and the audio version on my iPod. I'm planning to ask him to "read" it together. We are doing that with the classic Middlemarsh (1870s). We recently finished Silas Marner (1861) this way. A mini book club lol. We usually don't read the same books, so this is has been a treat. Thanks for the recommendation .
@prgirl39mfp, yard and garden work/cleanup is definitely good exercise, yay for you! I ended up with 1 1/2 hours yesterday when was doing the same.
@77tes, it is awesome that you continue to meet up with your sister at Curves!
The two Curves in my area eventually both closed several years ago. But the good thing about that happening for me was that if they hadn't closed I would not have had a reason to search for alternative exercise, and as a result also find MFP during my searching .

@texasgardnr , I love Middlemarch And [Silas Marner. That sounds like fun reading together with your husband. I really enjoy reading with my daughters.2

DVD: Debbie Rocker, A.M. Walking. A shorter but more intense workout (at least for me ).
Another rainy day Monday.

Since I didn't get my Move It Monday done, tonight will be Turn It Up Tuesday... If it's still single digits outside, I will be hitting the treadmill in the basement! Gettin' it done tonight!3

Love the idea of “Turn It Up Tuesday”. It is never too late to start the week with exercise!1 -
I have some super exciting news to share with you about our Move it Monday challenge. Several months ago, I reached out to the Move It Monday organization and told them about our weekly Monday challenge. I’ve had several phone conversations since then with the Move it Monday program director. She has seen our challenge thread and is very impressed with the dedication of our group!
We’ve been seeking a way to collaborate and now have a terrific plan that’s in motion. Starting Monday, January 21, each of our weekly Move it Monday challenges through March will have a specific theme. Something that I’ve selected in advance in partnership with the MIM organization. My hope is that these challenges appeal to you and also to the greater MFP community. As we know, MFP has a lot of new folks joining in January. I’m hoping that our Monday challenges can inspire many of these folks to make exercise a regular habit. I will be reaching out to you for a quick assist in publishing this challenge to MFP in early January. We’ve seen how regular exercise improves our health and our lives. Let’s give a loving nudge to others and help them experience that same magical power of exercise and sitting less by starting the week with movement!
It all starts Jan 21st!
And a special shoutout to @texasgardnr, who first planted the seed of making Move it Monday regular weekly challenge! Thank you Mary!

WOW, @themedalist, that sounds fantastic! Taking advantage of the New Year's resolutions is a great idea.2

@themedalist How exciting!!! I didn’t know there was a Move it Monday organization! I’m definitely in, and I will help spread the word! Yea!!! 😊1

I met up with my sister at Curves for our usual Monday morning workout. It sounds kind of boring that I always say this, but hey old self, look at me having a routine exercise regimen! I also took a couple walks around the neighborhood - one while waiting for my sister to arrive, and one after to the bank and back. Then I locked my keys in my car - not a profitable exercise, but my dear sister drove me home.

77tes you are inspiring me to want to be a person who exercises routinely, not sporadically when the right mood hits me. I would like to make that part of my identity. I’ll start today🙂. Thank you!3
-
I completely agree with you both, @77tes and @nebslp! Becoming a person who exercises regularly isn’t boring at all. It’s one of the best habits we can have. James Clear’s advice to decide on the person you want to be and then become that person by taking small steps (“prove it to yourself through small wins”) has always stayed with me.
When I started walking every day, I became a walker. That’s part of how I see myself now.
When I picked up the guitar everyday for 15 minutes and practiced chords, I became a guitarist.
We become what we repeatedly do.
I think I need to become a cook. I need to contemplate how to turn this into a do-able monthly challenge.

As I mentioned earlier, we’re going to have a special 9 week Move it Monday challenge starting January 21st. I’m writing a blog post promoting the challenge that I’ll post on MFP in mid January. I’m hoping to get it trend and seen by as many people as possible. I’m convinced starting the week with exercise is one of the best habits we can have.
If you’ve been a regular participant in our Move it Monday challenge, has it helped you and if so, how has it helped you? I would really appreciate your input. I know that I tend to exercise more often the rest of the week when I start Monday with exercise. And regular exercise helps me make better food choices, sleep better, and deal with stress more effectively. What about you?
I want to promote the benefits of participating in Move it Monday, but I need it to reflect more than just my observations! If you’d like to comment here, great! And if you’d like to comment privately, just send me a message through MFP. Anonymous emails can be sent through my website’s comment form:

I really appreciate your help and input on this! I’m getting excited about this challenge and the Move It Monday organization is fantastic to work with.

I did my Monday workout at Curves, but then got a bad headache later in the day, so I missed my yoga for the first time since Sept 2nd.
I'll write up how great I feel Moving it on Mondays in a few days.2
