@brittdee88 I need a 4ish hour eating window on workout days, can absolutely relate. Sounds like you have a fun cardio option - which is essential, in my opinion.

    6/1
    Days until maintenance: 92
    Weight: 141
    Rest day = OMAD

I ate an early OMAD like the olden days because I went to brunch with friends. I forgot to take a pic, but I had Cuban coffee and gluten-free blueberry granola pancakes. SOOOO good!
I am looking forward to some stretching today because I am super sore, but I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening resting and recovering from the hard work from the project before the next one begins!

Explain this Cuban coffee... (Yes, I could Google, but that is no fun!)

@EstrangedTiger it is sooooo good, and you MUST have some when you visit Havana and are not LC because it is made with a lot of sugar. I always get a "cortadito," which is an espresso and milk shot. They actually put sugar into the coffee grounds while brewing! After it's brewed, they add the milk and more sugar. I usually get mine without sugar added at the end. But it is amazing. I usually just get a plain black Cuban espresso shot with no sugar of any kind added, but since it was my rest/OMAD day, I figured I would get in some extra calories and fat with my meal since it needs to last me through the rest of the day and tomorrow morning's workout!

@brittdee88 Sounds great! I’m a sucker for drinks with strong coffee and milk. If you are ever in New Orleans, visit Cafe Du Monde.

That chicken soup looks amazing. I'm a big fan of homemade soup, too.

@EstrangedTiger I have heard of that place! I will definitely check it out -- I think I will be in NOLA this fall.
@Eddy_65 It was really yummy! Homemade soup really is the best :)

I ate and drank half of everything in this meal minus the Snickers -- I ate all of that! I am going to have the same thing today plus a mango since I am trying to get back into fruits for dessert!

I would devour that meal in a heartbeat. No halfsies for this girl. I would have had to sub the breast and wing for a thigh and leg as I am a huge dark meat fan.

@tlblanks1 it was really good, and I think that picture makes it look smaller than it is. It was A LOT of food! It was just as yummy today, too :p I am the same way -- I prefer dark, but I would've had to wait 20 minutes for it, and I arrived at the store already ravenous!

@EstrangedTiger they really do! The chicken meal is less than $6, so it's a go-to for times like these when it doesn't make sense for me to do a lot of cooking since I will be leaving town in a couple of weeks for LA and am going out with friends a lot before I leave. The fact that I can get 2 meals from them really makes it affordable.

    6/4
    Days until maintenance: 89
Weight: Unknown (I have decided to wait until after TOM to weigh)
Rest day = OMAD (today was an unintentional rest day -- I woke up with a pretty bad headache and didn't think I could make it through my workout)

Today's meal was super random, and I forgot to take a pic! :s I had the other half of yesterday's meal (minus the lemonade because I left it at my friend's house) plus a mango and 1/2 of a leftover gluten-free pancake that I needed to get rid of from brunch this past weekend. A friend is making me jambalaya and delivering it tonight, so I will likely have that and the other pancake half tomorrow.

It has been said before, but these types of meals and healthy buffets/salad bars are great for OMAD. When doing the math, sometimes it is cheaper to eat out!

    Jamabalaya sounds awesome!

You're 100% right, @EstrangedTiger! Especially on salad bars -- I used to buy salad but the lettuce plus all of the trimmings I like really adds up and then it goes bad too quickly! A salad sounds yummy right about now...

@dkayingram I am REALLY excited about the jambalaya. And she made it with cauliflower rice for me :) And she brought over some bbq chicken legs and quinoa, so I am pretty much set for the rest of the week.

Cauliflower rice is my new true love. I haven't tried to make it, but the bird's eye version in the frozen section is delicious and you certainly can't tell the difference. Enjoy!

@dkayingram I don't like it plain, but I DO really like it when it's topped with something saucy like jambalaya or a stew of some sort. I definitely can't tell the difference then. And I remember @tlblanks1 made a fried rice with it a while back, and that looked good, too.

I have decided to go back to fruit-based desserts from now on. I've been finding myself fighting lots of cravings lately, and the only thing I've really reintroduced is sugar. I think I just need to drop it once and for all. I did perfectly well eating plain fruit or even fruit dipped in chocolate, so I am going back to that. I think my desserts just need to have a lot of fiber from now on. They (obviously - duh!) do a better job of filling me up and keeping cravings away.

Need to try cauliflower rice. Do mash it up for faux potatoes.

My name is Robert and I'm a sugar addict.

Low carb berries have to be my dessert, with some stevia sweetened cream. Makes for one heck of a chocolate mousse, as well.

@EstrangedTiger I am right there with you!
On a related note: I spent all day yesterday looking for ways to get back to LC/keto because I really do think it's one of the best WOE for me personally, but I don't want my performance/activity to suffer. I found a really cool article about the targeted keto diet, where you eat 25-50g high glycemic carbs before your workout in addition to the other meals you eat that day (ideally, just one other meal in my case). Rest days are regular keto days. Have you ever heard of it? Apparently you only need it until you're keto-adapted. I think I am going to try it once I run out of my more carby food.

Posted in another thread that I wanted to post here as well for my record:

Definitely about the inches! I pulled out those too-small pants from storage and they actually fit now! I have a bunch of clothes packed up that I thought were too small because I weigh more than I did when I bought them. I have missed out on so many of them, so I will happily wear them this summer. I did find 5 dresses and skirts that don't fit, ranging from "I can close it but wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it" to "I can't get the zipper up," so I am going to use those to measure progress this summer. If I can get into the latter and feel comfortable in them, I will know I have both made great progress and can officially say I can wear EVERYTHING in my closet!!! That's my ultimate goal - weight be damned.

Just caught up with this - you're doing AMAZING and your food looks awesome...so jealous of the greens. No one in my household will do greens except Ced, and we're still living apart for another month or two, so no point in making them if I'm the only one that will eat them :(:(:(

    Send me someeeeeeee!!! LOL

No, but it makes sense to me, biochemically (if concerned about performance and not fully tapping into fat reserves). You have the performance boost, but burn up the sugars (so no storage). Also, due to personal experience, my higher carb days coincide with lifting weights. The muscles are more receptive in a trained state to carbs.

@mistymeadows2005 Thanks, Steph! Make a big ol' pot and send it down to me! I will eat them :D

@EstrangedTiger that's exactly what I was thinking! I figured it would be best to have the carbs on my lifting days, which are 2-3x a week. After thinking, though, I don't know that my performance really suffered because of a loss in strength or if it was just my energy being really low because I wasn't eating enough. I am wondering if it had more to do with trying to follow OMAD while working out since I just can't seem to shovel in enough calories to fuel my workouts in just one meal. I am thinking of just jumping back into keto tomorrow and seeing how my natural hunger fares on workout days for the next couple of weeks to determine my potential plan moving forward. I know OMAD will work for rest days, so I will definitely stick to that.

@brittdee88 Yeah, I have issues eating too little on workout days. Think I will push through my workout fasted and have a proper meal afterwards. Will receive the optimal growth hormone benefit from fasting in that fashion. Just keep plugging away?

    Thanks, @Brendalea69!

@EstrangedTiger I ended up needing 2MAD yesterday, but I know it's too early to tell since it was my first day back on keto. I just finished working out this morning after having a bulletproof coffee, so I will see if that eliminates the need for an additional meal, but I doubt it. I have always worked out fasted in the past, but it doesn't seem to be working this time around since my workouts have been more intense, and I need some sort of energy boost prior to doing so.
