    20th: 3.5 miles - MTD 119.83
    21st: 6 miles - MTD 125.83
    22nd: 7.25 miles, 3.29 m running, 3.96 m purposeful walking - MTD 133.08
    23rd: 5.5 miles, 0.87 m TM, 4.63 m purposeful walking .... AND Pilates ( grandson back to preschool after Chicken Pox) - MTD 138.58

@tax_mom - I wasn’t greatly involved with the preparations when either of my sons married .... I felt sad, but thought it was just because they were boys. If I’m honest though, I recall shutting my mum out 40 years ago. Her bipolar disorder had made her a cruel parent and one who would have dictated and demanded her will quite forcefully, whilst not having the financial means to contribute. I’d have been expected to invite her 8 siblings and their spouses, half of whom I had no relationship with (we could only afford a wedding breakfast for 50). I suppose it did come back round and bite me on the *kitten*
@Clepant- it’s sad that your step-daughter didn’t have the conversation with her father sooner.
    ETA:
My running miles are picking up again and my poor Hamstrings and Glutes are objecting. I have been motivated to plan my run diary for the next eight months though .... YaY

Thanks everyone for the support. I'm not really angry, they don't mean to shut us out, they are just trying to keep things as low key as possible. We weren't entirely sure they would ever get married in the first place, they both hate being the center of attention. (Both extreme introverts who enjoy people watching, not being watched. They really are made for each other.) The only people invited to the ceremony Friday are the grandmothers, both sets of parents and both sisters. Not even any of their friends, it's too much for them.

I bet too if you asked them, they feel they are making it easier for us not to plan and pay for anything. These two are practical almost to a fault and they are not expecting any help for this, it was in their budget and they are happy with that. They have also been very clear with everyone that they do not want presents. Did I ever mention my mother-in-law knew about the wedding before we did? The party on Saturday is at her house and they wanted to be sure she was OK with that before they announced their plans to either set of parents. I guess there will be no more than 40 friends and family at the party Saturday and they are hoping to keep the focus off themselves as much as possible. I do know there is no wedding cake, just caramel corn, smiley face cookies and mini crème puffs, all family favorites. :):)

@clepant I'm having to console my husband too, he was hoping to walk her down the aisle and she is not having any of that. I think he handled it well when she told him (gently, not cruelly) she is not property to be given away. He wasn't looking at it that way but he doesn't want her to feel uncomfortable that day.

@k80flec That is one thing I am very happy not to deal with, which relatives "must" be invited. I remember my guest list growing with aunts and uncles I don't even remember and a room full of faces I barely recognized. Plus the whole trying not to have more guests for the bride than the groom thing. UGH

3 mile run this morning. I'm at 65/75.

I wasn't going to have my dad walk me down the aisle until my MIL explained how much it would mean to him. In the end I'm glad I made him happy. But our wedding went from city hall and a cocktail party in the backyard to a long white dress in the church and 120 people for dinner. It all worked out. I'm still married LOL. @taxmom9093 - the main thing is that they have found a wonderful match and they have a good life together. The rest falls into "don't sweat the small stuff."

@taxmom: I am sure the two of them meant well. It is a different time. I got married for the first time and my last time at age 48.I figured marriage was not in God’s plan but I realize that with God all things are possible. At this age, my husband and I paid for our wedding, although my dad insisted on paying for a very small rehearsal dinner. We kept our expenses down because we would rather put all of that money toward buying a house.
My father walked me down the aisle and I certainly did not need given away. But, I lovingly wanted my dad to be a part of a very special day. My pastor did not say, who gives this woman....but, this was just a sweet way of telling my husband that my father has loved and protected me all of my life and I am entrusting my husband to do the same.
What matters most is that they love each other and strive to be together for their remaining years.

My husband did not get upset about his daughter’s request but it would have been nice had she shared her wishes to him ahead of time and not at the last minute. I think more and more brides are forgoing their father walking down the aisle with them. We just saw this at the royal wedding. I like that she did part of it and walked by herself for the rest of the way.
