Adding 7 miles for 264 out of 300. Tires fixed. Guess I better get replacement before the next flat.

sufferlandrian wrote: »@clepant - Funny thing is, I switched my commuter bike from Gatorskins to Schwalbe tires on the recommendation of the bike shop. I just switched tubes though to a larger size so we'll see if that makes a difference.
So did the Schwalbe get the flat or the Gatorskins?
The Schwalbe got the flat. My Gatorskins are still running strong on my road bike. Haven't had a flat on the road bike in two years. I changed the size of the inner tube on the Schwalbe. I'll see if that helps. The larger tube is a bit thicker and gives some room for flex if something penetrates the tire. So far it's done well. The tire is a 700x28 and the tube was a 700x23-28 so it was at the top of its range. The new tube is a 700x28-32. So far it's done its job well.1 -

That's really admirable of you. Even if it's just a few miles, you should try to get out. Put yourself on the challenge for 20 miles. It will give you a goal to get out of the house on occasion.0 -

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. The wedding was perfect for the two of them. No music, no walk down the aisle, just the vows and the ring exchange. The poor officiant was surprised how short it was but he also said, "I know this is what you wanted, just you and your family and the vows". We stayed to take a few pictures and then went out to a local Italian restaurant for dinner. That was funny, my husband and the father of the groom both tried to pick up the check and they finally agreed to split the bill between them.
Saturday we had a picnic for extended family and the menu was chosen by what they would like as left overs. Which was a good thing, it was so hot that people ate less than expected. The other part that worked out well was the weather. It was hot but the expected thunderstorms didn't start until after everyone left and we had time to clean up and put away the tables, chairs and tent. All in all a successful two days for the bride and groom. For me, I guess I can officially call him my son-in-law although I've really considered him that for about the last 6 years anyway.2 -
Yes, I did have time to keep moving around everything else. I've added another 12 miles for a May total of 101 miles. GOAL!!!! And I'm not increasing it again this month, we'll see how I feel about June when we get there.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.0 -
@taxmom: So glad all worked out for the wedding and everyone was happy in the end.
@Dean: Thanks forthe info on the tires. Let me know how these newer ones work out. Honestly, my gatorskins have been great thanks to your advice. I am not racing so I am happy just getting some training miles on them out on the road.
May 28: Spent another day with hubby working on his garage. Went to clean out the left side and I still can smell the cat urine from a feral cat living in there. Only 7.5 miles of moving because I was using my muscle strength all day. Back to work for my final 12 teaching days.

@Just_Ceci:She says”Rode up a mountain today” like you just ate an elephant. You are awesome girl. May I ask how long it took you? Come be my ride partner. This is on my bucket list and they got rid of the lottery. My friends say I am crazy. https://www.denverpost.com/2018/02/03/2018-ride-the-rockies/
We ride over this mountain a couple of times a year. Our usual route is 42 miles with 3,000 feet of climbing.
That Ride the Rockies is some serious climbing!
ETA: I'm pretty slow. My friend did 72 miles including the same course as me on Sunday in just over 5 hours.
I would love to ride with you sometime!1 -

I have my two older grandsons (since last Fri). Been busy with garden, flower beds & mowing (that means we have had RAIN), ALSO I have been going through every closet/drawer getting ready for a 3 day rummage sale. I have an enclosed trailer full of beds, dressers, tables, chairs, etc etc loaded and priced low so I don't have to haul them back!! My nighty fitness classes end tomorrow night. I will lead weightlifting two mornings a week starting next week at 6 am. Right now I'm running on EMPTY for energy. Lab results weren't good so I may need an iron infusion plus thyroid adjustment along with some hormone tweaking! Getting OLD sucks!!
Yesterday I did 7 miles on bike & today I walked 2 & rode 7 on ex bike.

And that's goal for me. Wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go to the gym tomorrow so I doubled my normal cycling distance to 12.0 miles. My butt was a little numb, but I handled it better than I expected.
