Interesting now my tracker includes REM. I am learning so much and my mood improves tremendously the more I sleep.

I love this, @prgirl39mfp! I am so thrilled to hear that you are seeing big benefits in sleeping more! I’m glad we are making this a summer long effort. Sleep deserves the extra attention!

8 hours 9 minutes. :) I actually remember a dream which is rare for me. Sometimes I wonder if not dreaming means I'm not sleeping deeply enough to dream or if I'm just seriously repressed. Lol!

8 hours must seem like 10,000 steps. Quite the accomplishment once you reach it!

Despite being somewhat parked at 6 hours 30 minutes, 2 things are obvious to me:

    1. Waking up without an alarm and feeling pretty good

    2. I’m waking up at the same time every morning. So, to get more sleep, I need to go to bed earlier.

7 hours 22 minutes. Guess who went to bed earlier?

    REM: 19%
    Light Sleep: 59%
    Deep: 13%
    Awake: 9%

It’s really interesting to me that the sleep cycles vary so much day to day, though I realize they are all approximated.

8 hours exactly. I'm jealous of those of you with the trackers that measure REM, light and deep sleep - it would be cool to track that.

@77tes, I think it's a fairly new feature. My old Charge HR would track sleep, but when it finally died I replaced it with the Alta HR that tracks the sleep stages. It's interesting, but having spent much of my life in the world of models and algorithms, I don't put too much stock in the actual numbers (ie, 1 hour and 31 minutes of REM last night). Fitbit notes that they are approximations. But the cycling is interesting and I can definitely tell when I've had more deep sleep than usual.

I've been thinking that when my Flex dies, I'll get an Alta. I don't see how a tracker on my wrist could accurately record REM sleep, but it would still be fun to see the numbers. I feel the same about heart rate readings..

Interesting indeed. How and what makes it vary? I am curious. Lol.

Last night I could not sleep. Was not calmed and I ate too much processed foods. Will see how much sleep I got.

Here’s a couple of Fitbit blog posts on sleep stages. Apparently, it’s the heart rate variability that is the key to tracking sleep stages.

6 hours and 24 minutes. :( I went to sleep about 15 minutes late, and since I wasn't sleeping, I got up half an hour early. It was cool last night, so I'm annoyed that I slept so badly. But my daughter is applying for an important job opportunity today, so I was thinking a lot about that.

I figured out a sleep app for my Apple Watch & suddenly this morning it had enough data to give me more results!!!

    Date...............June 15...June 16...June 17
    Bedtime.........2:00 AM...1:13 AM...12:55 AM
    In bed.............6hr59.......7hr 0.........7hr18.
    Asleep.............................6hr20........6hr20
    Time 2 sleep...................,..9m...........10m
    Awake/restless............,,.....9%...........14%
    Light Sleep.........................24%.........34%
    REM....................................12%.........27%
    Deep Sleep.........................55%.........25%
    Wake..............8:59AM........8:13..........8:13

    Avg Fitbit User
    Bedtime 11:35 PM
    In bed 7hr42
    Asleep 6hr 38
    Awake/restless 55mins (12%)
    Light 3hr55 (52%)
    REM 1hr37 (21%)
    Deep 1hr7 (15%)
    Wake. 7:17AM

    This is all very comforting.
I’m focusing this week on *gradually* moving my bedtime earlier.

Sadly, I might need to move my cat out, but I’m going to try everything else first!!

Thank you to @themedalist & all of you for this important journey. I learned recently that lack of sleep impedes our body’s ability to do the RNA duplication as well, resulting in less new cell regeneration and repair. This is truly important.

I’m glad you found an app for your Apple Watch, @MadisonMolly2017. This is great information! I hope you don’t have to move your cat out, though. But time will tell. Your sleep needs to be the priority. I am thrilled that this challenge is helping you. I think getting regular sleep helps us in every other aspect of our lives. How a lack of sleep might impact RNA duplication is fascinating. We need to continue to make sleep a priority

6 hours 27 minutes for me last night. I’m going to be going into work about 30 minutes earlier for the summer so I need to work on adjusting my sleep schedule.
