WTG SLIMSONS!!!! Lots of hard work this week from everyone---it's so motivating~!!

    Daily Post (Sunday)

    Track: Yes
    Calories: Yes/Under/IF
    Exercise: Yes, walk, 7 miles

Comments/Goals: This week my goal is to work around my back pain and keep calories low...hopeful that my bad back and Saturday's menu won't completely kill this week for me.

@SLIMn2016 I'm no stranger to back pain. Stretching and heat, those are what keep it at bay for me. i do several stretches and then put (moist) heat on it for about 20 mins, up to 3 times a day if it's really bad. Doing Olympic lifting, I'm a bit more proned to back pain than probably the average person, one false move and I can tweak it (and I'm still in the beginning stages so I have more false moves than more seasoned lifters) so I get it.
And the key is getting back up when you fall, because we WILL fall...

Thanks Ashley! I'll try the hot compresses/stretching. Back on the wagon today---onward and upward (hopefully downward on the scale :D ).

    Hey Slimsons!

Last week I slacked a bit and didn't put up a Question of the Week...sorry about that!

So with that said, I have a good one this week.

Name one weight loss or health/fitness myth you have heard.

Let's see how many we can come up with...I'll start, this one is probably my favorite.
"You need 5 servings of carbs a day." I'm living proof this isn't true, I haven't had 5 servings of carbs in well...14 months at this point and I'm thriving, so much more energy...my moods are better..and I've lost 60 lbs...so yep, don't need them.

Great Job Slimsons! Let's keep the winning streak alive in Week 2.

    Daily Report Sun 9 Sep

    Tracking: Yes
    Calories: Under
Exercise: Yes. Walked the dog 35 mins, Circuit training 30 mins

Walking has to be the most boring exercise. But, it's the only exercise my Lab gets. Only Lab I have ever owned that hates the water and refuses to get in the pool. Or play in the yard. It's finally gotten cooler in the morning for her, so I guess we will be walking daily.

As expected, Hurricane Flo has gained strength and intensified. Will turn into a major hurricane by tomorrow. Experts are saying it will hit the east coast as early as Thurs, predicting it will hit landfall in the Carolinas.

Hurricanes are scary--lived in Florida for a bit when I was young and have been through a couple. My prayers o:) go out to you, your family and all the East Coasters buckling down tomorrow. Hope it goes out to sea so you all are spared the damage. Stay Safe! <3

    Track: Yes
    Calories: Yes
Exercise:30 mins weight training, 90 mins walking

Comments: So I cheated today, did legs, since I was itching to use my new squat rack...and while doing that I used and put away all my weights (on my new weight tree). My next project will be restoring all the old weights my father in law gave me, but i can't really do that right now. Anyways, tried to make up for yesterday, went for 3-30 min walks....and ate well below my normal amount...feeling good about today

    Weekly weigh in
    SW: 244.4
    CW: 245.4

I’m traveling this week with my kids so posing my weight before I left. I have indulged when the opportunities presented themselves but also passed on ice cream and milkshakes that others were having. I could have done better but I also could have done much worse.

    Tracked: Yes
    Calories: Yes, Under/IF 5/2 day
Exercise: Yes, 75 min. HIIT lateral climber (squeezed it in on my lunch hour)

Comment: I was happier to step on the doctor's scale this morning... I was 11lbs down from the last visit...and that was after drinking 64oz. of fluids--- :D Did my 5/2 IF fasting day today...it was a good day for it...I had literally no time to eat from 5am-5pm. So it worked... I think Thursday will be harder.

    HAPPY MONDAY! <3:)<3

    Question of the Week
Name one weight loss or health/fitness myth you have heard.

"If you intermittent fast, you are starving yourself!"

---Fasting is not starvation... it's abstaining from certain foods and/or eating within a set period of time (maybe with a set calorie goal). Many religions and cultures have practiced fasting for various reasons throughout history. ;)

FYI: I don’t know if you all are aware but there’s a small little hurricane making it’s way to NC (where I live). Should you not hear from me.....I’ve prob lost power. Looks like that may happen Thurs. prayers please and thank you! It’s just me and my 23-month-old. My husband (who is Air Force) leaves tomorrow for a work trip. He won’t be back until 9/25. Thank you!

    Daily Report Mon 10 Sep

    Tracking: Yes
    Calories: Under
    Exercise: Yes. See below

Like Krissy stated, we have a little hurricane situation here in the Carolinas. The Gov of South Carolina declared a state of emergency a couple of days ago, today he called for mandatory evacuation for the coastal areas of SC. The hurricane is projected to hit the east coast early Thursday morning. As of right now, the experts are projecting the eye to hit North Carolina Outer Banks. But with the high pressure above the hurricane, and its unpredictability, it could break landfall anywhere from Florida to Virginia. As a Category 4, this will be one powerful hurricane with 140 mph winds and possible flooding.

As for exercise, I got plenty today. Hired a couple of guys and we cut enough plywood to board up 5 houses and filled over 500 sandbags. My youngest son and his wife are in Seattle this week, so we boarded his house and sandbagged the doors and garage, then my in laws house. Tomorrow we will get my parent's condo, my oldest son's house, then mine. Will most likely evacuate Wed morning. Even if the hurricane doesn't strike Charleston, I am sure will have flooding and heavy rains.

    Daily Post for Monday
    Track: yes
    Calories: no.....
Exercise: stairs. I did go up and down 3 stories of stairs a few times.

I am in a state of exhaustion. So eating and drinking was my fuel for staying awake. Also, with the hour drive at the end of the day, I needed a decent snack..... Cheetos ftw. If it weren't for the Cheetos, I would have been under. However, it it weren't for the Cheetos, I might have seriously struggled to stay awake on that long drive home.
Planning to do better today though.

@SLIMn2016 That's a good one! The thing I find funny about this myth is historically speaking, humans used to feast and then fast for days as there was a time when food wasn't prevalent like it is now so you'd eat when you could find food and then fast until you could find food again, and still many religions practice fasting...so those people who think keto and intermittent fasting are bad for you are misinformed...because when you fast you naturally enter ketosis after a period of time which just means you're using stored fat for fuel at that point.

    @mexiconona That's a good one too!!
Foods with fat are an essential part of the diet! Your body cannot produce essential fatty acids called linoleic and linolenic acid and those are used for brain development, controlling inflammation and blood clotting!
Also, many "low fat" foods have added sugar to make them taste better and those are just empty calories that you don't need and can actually lead to weight gain!

    Weight loss myth:
You need to exercise to lose weight. (not sure if it's already been said...)

Nope. I lost 50 lbs taking elevators at work, and barely doing any exercise at all. Mostly due to lots of back pain.... but I did very little movement in day to day life.
