@clepant That's heartbreaking. I'm always sad with stories like that, but it's gotten harder for me since I adopted my rescue kitten. I don't know details of her story other than she was in the shelter at about a month of age.
@Kar - I couldn't do your job. I would hit somebody! Humans do the stupidest things for the dumbest reasons and then expect you to fix them with a magic pill that can't be difficult to swallow. You have my thanks. When my son was in the hospital, you really came to appreciate a good nurse. The children's center had a lot and I hope they knew how grateful I was.

I think that's why I find it easier than sick/hurt animals. People are dumb. I was a people person until I became a nurse  And I'm sure they knew you were grateful. Just being polite and a "thank you" here and there means the world to a nurse.

I may regret this, but I am going to be positive and ask that either you Dave, or you Janet, up my miles to 200 for this month. I am biking indoors and it has been going well, so I think I will easily reach that.

Jan. 17: Adding 16 miles of which 2 were walking and 14 were cycling. I made it to the 14 and 15 mph range today and no catching in my meniscus. I did, however, read my MRI report today, and it was not very encouraging. I do have a major lateral tear and the start of a medial tear and some issues with the anterior ligaments and two cysts to boot. And that does not mention the arthritis grades from 2 to 4. But, I am not giving up!

@Dave - Glad you're feeling better. Don't too anxious to push to fast.

@Clepant - OUCH! There is a lot going on in that knee. Glad I protected my knees when I was younger. Wish I had protected my back as well. Are they talking surgery for the cysts? I know they are talking surgery for the meniscus but I suspect you're not going to get it unless you have to.

@clepant, your MRI did not show anything nice did it? That really stinks but if you have surgery you should get some pain relief! You are impressive at going more miles! WTG

I hate to say it but it's winter again in NE Montana! It was 17*, windy & snowing when I got home from class tonight! That makes for BELOW zero wind chill factor! Have I ever told you people how bad I dislike winter?? LOL

Got in 3 moving my feet today!

It's finally winter again here in NW Montana!! It's snowing and the temp is finally cold enough to keep it from just turning to ice. Did I ever tell you guys how much I love winter.

@darkrider42 - glad the hamstring is better. Here's hoping it stays that way. While I was in here reporting I figured I'd do the update.

@sufferlandrian - highway budget cuts - hilarious! We all want to know is that your bike?

@clepant - congrats on making goal and then raising it! That MRI sounds scary - take care of yourself.

Hate winter or love winter? Whichever you prefer I hope you get the winter of your dreams.

Very nice weather here in Florida. Went for a 3 mile run this morning. I'm at 104/75. Hooray - it's been a while since I had a 100 mile month.

@Dean: I guess taking up running at 58 was not a good idea. They are not talking any surgery and I had a cyst on my left knee and when I had surgery, they would not remove it. They said it would go away once the swelling went away and it did. I insisted I had a Baker’s cyst on this knee and he said I did not. My MRI shows the Baker Cyst and aGanglion Cyst. They aren’t doing any surgery until they give the viscous injections a chance to work. I have been researching stem cell plasma injections and reading the research studies on them. I am not convinced there is enough evidence on them yet. I had a friend that had the hernia mesh put in and it adhered to everything inside her. I wished she and her husband did the law suit but they did not. She ended up with lung cancer,( never smoked) and they struggled with her medical bills. I am afraid that they don’t know where there is migration of these cells and some of the cases show neoplasms. I will juice, take holistic treatments, ice and strengthen for now. On the bike and did 15 mile at 15 mph tonight...another good workout and my speed is increasing.

I know you’re not a dog, but we’ve been using platelet rich plasma on a lot of dogs with bad knees and it’s been working really well. Do they do that in humans?

@Janet - nope. Not my bike. Which I had that plow for mine. 😊. The city isn’t clearing sidewalks this year and not enforcing the clear sidewalk rules.

Managed to run 2.7 miles on the treadmill without my earbuds. Didn't think I could stay on it that long without music. I guess that's an NSV

@Dean: They are doing plasma infused stem cells in humans. The results are good but not enough long term evidence for me.
Ha ha, the snow fall panic they predicted for us drastically changed to rain. Snow coming tomorrow. People were preparing for 10 to 12 inches. There was a big bubble around Pittsburgh with snow to the north and rain to the south for the longest while, and us in the clear.
Jan. 19: Adding 18.5 miles today of 2.5 walking and 16 miles cycling. Did a 16mph cycle today. Another good workout.

@sufferlandrian - the lake looks so amazing - photo conditions perfect. I laughed at your cycle pic - that takes budget cuts to a whole new level. :D
@JTH11706 - a bit warmer than last year for the Dopey? I seemto remember our club runners sayingit was cold last year ... but that is a relative term. Here in the uk we had been in the grip of ‘the beast from the east’, so they’d experienced cold before they went to Florida. They’re doing Tokyo :):)
    @anaconda - what a glorious sunset
@clepant - the time will pass soon enough, though I know you will be sorely tempted to push the boundaries - be patient, so you won’t be a patient in the longer term. Also, belated birthday greetings, your flowers were beautiful.
@vhuber + @sufferlandrian - uk news has mentioned that you’ve had a bit of snow in the USA
@darkrider42 - I’m so glad the hamstring has improved.

Can I add 30 miles to my target .... this RED Challenge seems to be working ..
