I’m out of commission for a few days at least...hamstring pull. Nothing specifically “happened”...at least there was no actual moment where I felt injured. Just over the last 2-3 days it has tightened up while I sat for a while and then when I tried to stand up, I couldn’t put my weight on my right leg. It was really severe today, it hurt no matter what I did or how I moved it, so I went to the Ortho. Got a cortisone injection in my knee and crutches. I have a couple-three odd things show on the x-ray, hence an MRI being scheduled. It feels a little* better tonight after icing and elevating. Put an ace bandage on semi-loosely while I sleep tonight for some compression, but not too much. GF is trying to be a good nurse for me, but she’s dealing with a bad kidney infection and is currently in the bathroom vomiting. I’m hoping to be enough better tomorrow to be less of a burden on her and to be able to help her. :-/

@Dave - Wow! Were your electrolytes off? Don't rush this or you will tear it. Speaking from experience. Kind of debilitating isn't it. I feel bad for your GF. Those are nasty! They say drink lots of fluids but it makes you sick and it hurts to do so. Give my sympathy. Sympathy goes out to you as well. If you can massage it, it helps. FYI. I switched from doctor recommended ice to heat and the muscle finally relaxed so I could walk like a homosapien again.

Half marathon not as fun but just as done. Couldn't find my groove today. Oh well. 64/75

@darkrider42 - ouch! I say follow Dean's advice. Hope you and the GF are both better soon.

Thanks all for the advice and well-wishes. :) I'm doing better today, but still using one crutch about 50% of the time. GF is still pretty rough, but hanging in there.

@Janet - Yeah! Half is done. You still have a full to go correct? You are a running animal.

@Janet: Congrats on the 10k and half. You still rock in my world girl no matter how it went.I think you are amazing.
@vhuber: So glad you are back!
@Dave:Ditto on everyone else’s advice. I found the heat helped rather than the ice when my knee did crazy stuff. It still is. Yesterday I had my third viscous injection and one of my former students did it.
Jan. 11 -12: Adding 24 miles. I got some bike miles in yesterday before my injection put me out of commission for the rest of the day. Back in the saddle today for total of 20 peddle miles and 4 walk miles. I am looking at joining the Row House Gym and take up rowing for running. It might be my new cardio. Need to keep working on my cardio improvement on my bike first.

Dave - I hope your hamstring is better, and I hope your GF is getting better, too. UGH! that's so awful!
