Jan. 14: Adding 13 miles today of 2 dog walk miles and 11 cycling miles
    TTD: 120 miles

    exercise.png

@k80flec : It takes about 6 weeks to start seeing results. I did get 11 on the bike today. I found if I ice everyday, that seems to minimize things. I wanted to join a rowing club since I can’t run, but if the meniscus is catching, that won’t work. We shall see what 4 to 6 weeks bring. I am staying positive.

That was cold biking in to work tonight. It was supposed to be a low of 25 degrees but it was already down to 14 degrees! Had to balance between biking fast enough to stay warm but not so fast I was sweating. :frowning:

Dang it! Just lost a puppy. He got pneumonia and we couldn't get ahead of it. Not my favorite part of the job.

That's too bad, Dean. I don't know how you do what you do. And I say that as a people nurse.

@Dean: That is down right heart breaking for sure. I could not do what you do. It is just so hard to lose them.
@Kar: I admire both of you for what you do.
I had to decompress this week. The rescue that I work with brought in a dog shot in the head and neck. He lost his eye and the one in the neck will remain for his safety. We did not know if he would have brain damage but he is eating and going outside. So far so good. The other guy is so sad too. A beautiful 7 yr old golden retriever tied to a tree, standing in a creek with water up to his knees ( in this frigid weater). He weighs 45 pounds and has Lymes and Ehrlichiosis. He is as sweet as can be and has tons of people who want him.

Okay...Dean...that is just a bit too cold for me to be riding in. We will have 14 here on Monday from the storms that are crossing the country.
@Dave: Hope you are continuing to heal.

Jan. 16: Adding 14.75 miles of which I indoor cycled 12.25 at 13 mph without my meniscus tear catching....yippee. This coming from cycling at a crawl for weeks. And I only had one catch while walking today. It was another good day. I did not lose any weight....just holding....bummer!

That would be so hard to see. We work with animal control a lot and it never gets easier to see animals that are abused or neglected. I applaud you for helping them with your time and energy.

@Kar - I couldn't do your job. I would hit somebody! Humans do the stupidest things for the dumbest reasons and then expect you to fix them with a magic pill that can't be difficult to swallow. You have my thanks. When my son was in the hospital, you really came to appreciate a good nurse. The children's center had a lot and I hope they knew how grateful I was.

The hamstring has improved immensely. I had enough pain-free time yesterday that I went to the gym this morning. I did some light stretching and then got on the stationary bike for 5 miles at 50% of normal level to start and gradually bumped it to 80% as it felt okay and then back down to 50% to cool down. Followed up with the hot tub. Felt great before, during and after the workout. I'm hopeful. :)
