Wow first month of the year nearly over! It is summer time here and my days have been very busy - working. On holiday for a couple of weeks. Yay
I have still been moving
MTD 141.3 miles. I have been aiming for 150 but I will go 160 this month. I love running in different places.
Thank you to those that keep this going!1 -

@kar328 - thank you for a further glimpse into you and your life, it was a great article and you’ve every right to blow your own trumpet - what you’ve achieved took dedication and hard work - be proud.
@Dave - so pleased you’re on the mend.
@Janet - I’ll keep you updated on how Japan goes. They are hoping to complete the majors before the number is increased to 7 - they inform me that this is a possibility (not that it will ever effect me )
It is very icy here (not as cold as parts of the US, but cold for here. The pathways in my town barely cleared of ice yesterday. Those in the shade didn’t ... so my planned run evolved into 6.2 m on the exercise bike.
Edited for typo0 -

@Dave or Janet’s: Thank you for raising my goal.
We will be in single digits and below zero next week her in Pittsburgh, so I guess we will be getting Vhuber, Dan and Dave’s weather.
Last night I received a Distinquished Award from my school district as a recipient of theAmerican Heart Association 2018 Heart Award. My school district has raised over one million dollars for AHA. My school has raised $303,000.00 of that total and my school was #1 in our county and state last year. And we were the fifth highest fund raiser in our seven state region. We were also the highest fund raiser online. I am so proud of my students and parents for their dedication to this event for the 26 years that I taught there. Another former team mate was named PA Health and Physical Education Teacher of the Year as well and was recognized as well as many of my elementary PE colleagues.

@CLEPANT - Wow, what an honor!! And what a wonderful achievement!!
As I sit here writing this, the temp is -6*F with a windchill of -26*F!! We're supposed to be stuck in this cold pattern for at least another week. Just when I wanted to start my work lunch walks outside again. Figures.
PS - I also just wanted to post a disclaimer about the memes that I have been posting with my posts lately. I don't know for sure if everything in the past (or in the future) was or is 100% accurate or verifiable, but I fell like I have a pretty refined BS meter and can tell when something isn't *right*. But that said, I apologize if anything I post isn't completely true. I post it with good intention though. :flowerforyou:
Stay warm, friends!
Dave
A bonus funny for the day.

Take good care to all of those who are getting arctic weather and other nasty weather. We here in Oregon are getting weird non arthritis friendly type of weather. Been plenty painful and stiff. I just wish it was dry cold.

@SUFFERLANDRIAN - You’re right about that, Dean! As cold as it is here, I sure wouldn’t want to live any further north of here!
Managed 2.0 full miles on the elliptical today! Getting stronger, but boy is it still an effort! Leg still feels great though! Movement without exerting too intensely (specifically leg curls with heavy weights) helps it stay loose and flexible and pain-free. I’m very happy about that.

The nice thing about retiring is that I can burrow in when this cold spell hits. We are bracing for the arctic blast. I will head out tomorrow and stock up for somethings and stay in. Sadly, I have to take my dad out for his pacemaker check and bloodwork on Tuesday....burrr, for him.
@anaconda469: That cold wet damp. Weather always kicks up my arthritis. Now the cold can just freeze it out.
