If your ideal loss is set at 1.5 lbs / week, and the past couple of weeks it has been around 1 lb per week (with no major changes in eating or activity routines, like either not doing as much / as intense exercise, or you are now eating back more of your exercise calories) .... it means that your BMR requirements (calories needed to maintain your current body mass) are now measurably lower than when you started .... not surprising as there is now 16 pounds "less of you" to maintain.

    CONGRATULATIONS!!

For starters, I would suggest going back to your "guided set-up", put in your now-current weight. and bring your "want to lose X" rate to 1 lb per week. That will both take away AND add in calories to your recommended daily limits at the same time (less of you to support, yet smaller deficit ambition). See what numbers that gives you.

You are already shedding ~ 1 lb per week by eating 1520 calories ... see if you can end up still eating ~ the same. Eat back more of your exercise calories if necessary.

So long as your rate of loss is ~ what you have asked MPF for, you are in balance for your current situation.

Every ten pounds or so, do a guided re-set (that way the available calories only shrink a little bit each time) and no need to re-set to losing less than 1 lb per week until you have only ~20-25 pounds left to lose.

If you feel you want or need to eat more than allotted, that's what eating back the exercise calories are for. You should be eating back at least half of them anyway. Do more / log more = earn more = more available to eat while still staying in slight deficit.

The ultimate sustainable-lifestyle mindset will be when you reach the tipping point where you "eat more so that you can support the calories burned by activities you love" rather than "exercise more just so that you can eat more"

Hope this helps - makes sense!

    I like this @BMcC9
Who will you exercise with? My grandson and granddaughter because walking to bus stop for one and the school for the other one. This will be over an hour walk all together (I track by taking screen shots of my start at stop/waiting time so I can add my actual walking time).
How many reps / how much more weight lifted will give you a “Personal Best?” For me at the moment it would be fitting more steps in or longer route.
What will you be doing instead of late-night snacking? Actually sleeping, I lead a very boring life and sometimes am asleep after 8pm (est) if stay awake go to bed between 9-9:30pm.
When do you pack your lunch / do your logging? I work on my days meals in the morning when I get up, although breakfast get filled in earlier in the week because eat the same thing most days. It helps me to be accountable
Where - walking will be done in my neighborhood, it doesn’t cost anything and I don’t have to wait for someone else.
why – to get healthy, in shape and lose weight! These are my goals, plus some set up for specific amounts of weight to lose by a certain day etc.

NSV – clothes fitting much loser, no double chin and looks thinner in pics, much more active now.

    I hope I did the W's right!

No wrong way to do them!

One more question- if I do reset my starting weight on MFP, will it reset everything as if I start again? I don't want to lose my weigh-ins, progress graph etc.
Sorry, I like to see my progress for motivation.

short term goal (for the week, or the month) and WHAT ACTIVE STEPS you will use to achieve it.

I’d like to end the week with at least a pound loss. It seems I’ve stalled. I would like to lose 5 pounds this month. I will do the reset that Barb suggested. @BMcC9

I will do the moderators challenge. I have some catching up.

I will go to the gym, walk, tennis or garden 3x or more a week.

Who will you exercise with? I exercise by myself or walk with my husband. My niece is my exercise accountability buddy. @AmyRobF

How many reps / how much more weight lifted will give you a new Personal Best"

I am doing a plank a day and trying to increase a little each day. I am at :50 but then back to :46. Hoping for a minute by end of week. I’d like to start using the weight machines at the gym, but don’t know what to do with them

What will you be doing instead of late-night snacking? If it is after 10pm or I have no calories - no snacks. Sometimes I walk my house to get to the next 1,000 for steps.

When do you pack your lunch / do your logging? I usually log as I go.

Wednesdays are also our weekly Non-Scale Victory Celebration Days. What measurable accomplishment can we happy-dance for you about?

I put on some crop pants today the were extremely tight and uncomfortable when I put them away last summer.

Sorry, I like to see my progress for motivation.

Leave your starting weight on [Whatever Date] as is! This is the top line.

Only change your CURRENT WEIGHT (next line down).

No need to worry about your check-in reports, progress graph etc! ALL entered data remains.

But from that point forward (once you hit accept) the target numbers across the bottom of your daily food diary reset. So nothing else needs to be done by you.

Assuming (for example) that you will now have a 1510 food calorie allotment per day, both the over-all target calorie total AND the other individual macro targets will self-adjust to the proper percentages. Just keep "going for the green" with whatever the target numbers are.

    My 5.5 "W's"

Who will you exercise with? My pup! She loves to walk

What will you be doing instead of late-night snacking? The evening is truly my trouble time zone. Hubs watches TV and snacks, has no intention of changing his ice cream and baked good habit and kick the diabetes and high blood pressure pills. Sooooo hard to not give in to my “I’ve been good all day, I deserve something yummy” thought pattern. But I must. So… the second I feel my willpower is gone I must go to bed! I love to sleep about as much as I love to eat! I have lots of reading I can catch up on if it’s too early. And if it’s really, really early, working on my art work or catching up on phone calls will keep my hands busy and me distracted from food.

When do you pack your lunch / do your logging? I usually make my lunch after dinner the night before. And do my breakfast and lunch logging the morning of. It works out well. BUT…. I tend to not plan my dinner because Hubs cooks. Not an issue except for the fact that I do not weigh and measure my dinner. What’s up with that?! I must make the commitment to start. That will help me to finish my entry and close out my diary. Giving me incentive (If every day is like today, you’ll weight ### in five weeks)

Where? I’ll be taking my walks in the neighborhood. Sure, it’s cold but I have all the outerwear I need. And a walking partner (my pup) that’s always ready.

Why am I doing this? To stay active, healthy and feeling good.

How am I going to stay focused and reminded of my goals? I’ve slacked lately with communicating with my F2F teammates and MFP friends. They’ve been a source of great support and encouragement and I know they’re there for me. I plan to check in daily and hope they’ll check in with me if I don’t. I definitely need accountability.

Please do! I find that the more people who check in, give each other support, and get some in return, the better it all goes. Now we know about some of your enjoyments and challenges - we'll be there! It is hard sometimes, though, to check in with someone if they do not post on the team for a bit. I am never sure when it is invasive, or if the person has found a different team or group they like better. Sharing your diary with your friends can be great - have at least one buddy and check each other every day. That can work well, and is independent of specific teams.

On that subject, though - @steplaj (moderator and one of the big cheeses  ) asked if we would want the "old" buddy system to be set up again? I was not on F2F when this was part of it, but it sounds great to me. I would really like it, and it sounds like some others would too. What do people think?

Welcome to April - and our first weigh-in is posted! Thanks, Andrea @Andreabroadley ! I'm coming to know that there are a lot of Canadians on this team. We are from Québec and Ontario, as far as I recall - anyone from other provinces?

We also have two more new members to welcome:

@karenesg returning after a break - welcome back!
@martarena jump in and have a good time on the team

Results from last month should be posted soon - those moderators are on the ball. They get it done EARLY - so remember as the weeks go on, please post your weights on the morning they are due so that no one gets missed, especially the Saturday people. Our weeks always begin on Sunday.

Have a great day and let us know your plans, goals, dreams for the month. Tally ho!

Hello I am from Canada BC 🇨🇦. I was hoping to find a few people closer to home. I hope this is my group. 😊

I highly endorse it! If I hadn't just set up a buddy-system side-challenge with someone from my other accountability challenge, I'd be in it for sure.

Thrifty Thursday - tips to save a few $$

By bringing my morning coffee (and dusting off my "makes one mug at a time" doo-dad for the a.m. break coffee) I save $2 per serving from the price in the caff. So $4/day x 5 days a week ($20) x 4 weeks a month ....... saves me $100 !! o:)

Thrilling Thursday - what thrills you? what has been really exciting this week, no matter how small?

So I bought myself an ice-cream and sherbet maker ( on sale, for LESS than that) with last month's savings .... and now that I am on Maintenance, I will have to get new spring clothes ....and now that I AM on Maintenance, they can be BRAND NEW clothes .... best make sure I keep saving the coffee money all summer .... I doubt there will be much of a net profit .... >:)

My daughter just moved to Wainwright - I drove out there with her (from Québec) and stayed for a couple of weeks. It was freeeeezing, but wonderful. We went up to Edmonton a couple of times, but I wasn't able to spend much time in the city. I will be back!

I'm going for the heartthrob Thursday today. But with comments on @BMcC9 's thrift. And sorbet. mmmmmm

I am not very good at expressions of heartthrob. But today I feel especially heart-ful towards my taller half. He drives me crazy, but then he does things like watch a squall through an open window, describing the way he sees the wild air currents, the snow blasting around, the dancing trees, and how he understands how drifts happen (yesterday!). Or the red squirrel society - he can tell them apart, and knows who is getting picked on and who is the boldest. He tries to overprotect our 22 year-old son and I have to pull him up short, and sometimes he listens... We complain together about how hard it is taking care of his 95 year-old mother sometimes. We have trouble understanding each other and we both make stupid assumptions about what the other one thinks or believes (I was going to say he does those things, but I'm sure we both do!). He is starting to feel his age (he's turning 72 on Saturday) and it is frustrating that he cannot do all the huge amounts of outside, hard physical tasks he has always done. He worries but it shows up as anger or silence, and then I get worried. It shows up as silence a lot of the time too. But somewhere under all the surface, neither of us would ever turn our back on the other. We have a deep current of connection that is completely mystifying. And of course our two kids have our hearts and backs always.

OK - back to safer territory.
The best thing I bought was an ice cream maker. I have never made ice cream in it - only sorbet. Fruits of all kinds make the most amazing non-fat sweet enough fabulous dessert. Serving size is way bigger than ice cream, and it satisfies those cravings! Ice cream is the one sweet thing I cannot NOT eat if it is in the house, so this solves the problem all summer long. They are not expensive to buy, and the results are spectacular.

Threat Thursday- not actually a threat but definitely a happy challenge. My son and his girlfriend will be visiting this weekend so that means all my family will be together for meals and snacks. We all love a good cheeseboard. It’s a happy time because in my family food is love. There will also be drinks.

How will I handle this? I’m going to enjoy myself but portion out a small amount that I can have. I will account for a glass of wine or a cosmo by walking or maybe getting everyone to head over to the tennis courts. Of course, the baby can’t play, but we can take turns with her. There is also an Earth Day event at the library where we attend story time, so I’m hoping we can do that and take a hike around the property.

So I’m going to do the best I can. Get some exercise with them. And forgive myself if I’m not perfect. I don’t get to have all my fam together every week.
