Mindful eating results:
Dinner was amazing. when we started to prepare i was at a -3 on the hunger scale. by time the food was ready i was really hungry at least a -4. i forgot to notice my feelings when i first started. i just dug right in. the food was delicious. my first tostada was half gone before i remembered i was suppose to be paying attention to how i was eating. i have one and a half beautiful tostadas on my plate. the food was fresh and home made. the smell of the cilantro and chives filled the air. the shell was cruncy and all the flavors went together perfectly. i was half way thru my second and i thought i was still hungry. but was i really? i decided to give it a minute and take a drink and ask jim about his day. he couldn't talk his mouth was full! lol. he is such a cutie. i put my fist up to my tummy and held it there tight. i really was not hungry any longer. i ate one more bit and savored every last flavor and then gave the rest to jim. so proud i pushed my plate away when i was satisfied at a +2.
what this experience has shown me is that food is meant for nourishment but also enjoyment. i thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and it was in calorie goal. if i feel restricted, i am more likely to eat compulsively.
Instead of saying to yourself, I will believe it when i see it say.....
I will see it when i believe it.4 -

Have a great Friday!3 -

Ok, I am back in the zone! Mindful eating went well yesterday. It made me slow down. Now that I am back to running, I have reintroduced having an afternoon protein drink. I lost muscle mass with the long injury, so I am trying to rebuild. It is a long weekend here in Canada & we are travelling to see my in-laws. I have access to a kitchen, so I have a plan and am bringing some if my own food.
@eyesopennow - agree with you & everyone that you should visit your doctor. Sounds like you are doing all of the right things so it is best to take action and not get discouraged.
@carlsoda - I did not realize you are a Canuck! It is Victoria Day weekend but it has been such a cold & wet spring, a lot of folks are delaying opening their cottages (my family included). Fingers crossed that the lakeshore does not flood here in Toronto as well. My favorite running trail is the Martin Goodman along the lake.
@sleepymom5 - A sports massage targets certain tight or problem areas. So it can be painful & not as nice as a relaxation massage. The target yesterday was the left side of my back, which has been compensating for my injured right leg. It was painful to get done, but it feels great today.
@Moarrein - Welcome!!5 -

I have my little routine on MFP, I look at my newsfeed first, then come on here and make comments on everyone's posts, then I write this above the comments I make. I forgot this was weigh in day when I started the comments so I am going to post about my weight before I actually post my weight Lol! I am up about a pound and a half. I actually never got back to last weeks low and have been way higher too. This was a weird week with the bar opening. I didn't have a plan for dinners at all, I didn't cook once, I didn't log, I over indulged one day and I have been way less active due to my hip. So there are a lot of things I can work on for next week. I also have so much going on, spring cleaning both houses, I will be finished next week in PA, Memorial day we will have a full house at the shore, I am going to Ga to see my friend and Fl to see my Mom the Wed after Memorial day, I am trying to set up a plan for MK so she can manage her anxiety, plus a bunch of doctor's visits and appointments. Once again, I am trying not to get overwhelmed. I am making a plan and sticking to it. I will get it done, I always do. Today, I am finishing my bedroom and bathroom and then the entire second floor will be spring cleaned. Shannon promised to do the 3rd floor and I am going to hold her to it. So next week I have the first floor to do. After I am done today, I am heading for the shore. I will be good down there, I am just going to take the weekend off and enjoy the beautiful weather. I am not going to start cleaning unless I feel like it. I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
@Moarrein Welcome Lilly! Try to come on daily and check in. Even though you aren't in the challenge until June. You are more than welcome to jump right in with us now. Looking forward to getting to know you!
@cyndiesstuff You are amazing! What an awesome day! You can do this weekend. You have a few good days under your belt. You are always super busy on the weekends between the farm, your parents, prepping for the week and all the other things you do. I know it is more difficult being home but just make a plan. You got this!!
@Mrsbell8well You are always researching and tweeking your plan. I love it! I am sure that life/work balance will come. You really haven't been in the new position very long AND already gotten promoted. I am sure you will hit your stride with all of it. Hugs to you!
@lennoncpa With all the traveling you have done, I don't think this is a bad weigh in at all. I also remember you saying you were down a pound so this actually may just be water retention or one of the many other factors that effect your weight. Just think back on your week, if there is anything you can change, do it, if not, don't let it derail you!
@pacsnc6 Maintaining isn't bad, better than gaining. Sounds like you are doing well so don't let it worry you. Just keep doing what you are doing and the scale will eventually catch up.
@lenka1 Nice loss! I was just thinking how nice it is to have you back on the team! Hugs!
@Shirin_K It is not easy! I think it takes a while to get the hang of it. I am working on that myself. I am glad that you are checking in daily, I think that makes a difference. You have really been doing fantastic!
@Cafelelia Nice loss! Looks like you are back on track! I love your plan for the weekend. It makes things easier. I had a feeling a sports massage wouldn't be the same Lol! I am glad you feel good today.4 -

I almost forgot to post my intuitive eating for dinner! We ate super late, I was at -4 which is trouble. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that I love. I also had baked lays. The baked lays are also trouble. I actually can eat the entire chicken sandwich and feel satisfied. However, throw in the lays and I really should probably stop at half (I have this meal a lot, can you tell Lol!) . More trouble, end of bag, lots of broken pieces so hard to count out how many chips. So I ate the entire sandwich and chips and thought I was satisfied and not full. However, later I was STUFFED so I guess I ate over satisfied. Then I don't remember if I finished the chips off after....So, I have to get into the habit of stopping at 75%. I have to start leaving food on my plate. Obviously I still have a lot of work to do in this area.3

@eyesopennow I am glad you got an appointment with the doctor. You have always been accountable for gains if it is something on your end. I know it is frustrating to be doing everything right and have the scale not cooperate. Please keep doing what you are doing. Don't give up. Come on here and rant whenever you want. We are here for you Mike .
@carlsoda . Nice loss!!

My tostadas that I had for dinner, some wild strawberries that I found, and my chives and oregano. I cut fresh chives and put them on my tostadas.6 -

Howdy everyone! Been a crazy few weeks around here - looks like lots of great things happening for everyone. I suspect I inadvertently dropped a lot of water weight this week, I ate less for a few days owing to being on the road and other factors. I've been hitting the weights hard and making progress there, which is really my focus. Onward and upward!3

Thursday check in
Great day!!!
14,000+ steps
Food perfect!!
Water a'plenty!!
Today's plan:
Another day of great food choices
10,000 steps
20 minutes yoga
pay bills tonight (my financial health!)
We have a wedding shower on Saturday, so I'll need to pre-plan for that. It starts at 11:00 am so I think I will eat a late breakfast and make it huge and fulfilling so I won't be tempted to eat crap food. I'll bring snacks and water. Other than that it will be a very raining weekend here, so no outdoor work. Maybe hit some consignments shops on Sunday and finish up my grocery shopping. Oh and preplan my food for next week....what can I prepare ahead of time to make my life easier?
@Moarrein - welcome Lily! We're a fun little group here within a HUGE group. I look forward to getting to know you!
@sleepymom5 - I have a window that needs cleaning if you feel like coming to Minnesota. Somehow our front window has Lucy sized nose prints on it. Good job getting everything done and just keep plugging away at it and keep the stress down. Stress doesn't help get everything accomplished!
@Cafelelia - gosh I so miss living by the great lakes. Yeah yeah yeah, we have Lake Superior 3 hours away and "10,000" lakes in our state but it's not the same thing as living by Lake Ontario or Georgian Bay - my gosh I so love Grey and Bruce counties. That's where my family is now and could easily move back there in a heart beat!
@cyndiesstuff - well I failed on your challenge yesterday. I did pretty good with breakfast and lunch but failed with supper. Totally forgot - ate supper while watching BBC Antiques Roadshow while eating!
Hope everyone has a great day!!3 -

@Mrsbell8well yes!! yesterday was self love at its finest. you have been so busy. good job with your self care in this stressful time. how is molly feeling? it has been crazy here too. as you know. last nite was wonderful. I picked the first oregano that we will have with dinner tonite and the chives were soooo good last nite on my dinner. grab your scissors and come and get some girl. wish we were closer!!
@lennoncpa that's not bad for the vacation and such. don't let it go to much on this next trip. make a plan lady!! it will be a valuable tool.
@pacsnc6 maintains are good. you keep working on it.
@lenka1 ohhh yeah lady!! another pound down. the word only implies it is not much. but in reality it is huge for you at this point in the game. be careful of the words you say to yourself. and smile! you are a success!!
@Shirin_K sounds like you are going to be busy planning for success. don't give up on the mindful eating. it is a practice. the more you do it the better you become at it.
@Cafelelia I hope your holiday is filled with joy! watch the extra food but it sounds like you have a plan going in. you are down this week! and that is fantastic. lets keep the momentum going!!
@sleepymom5 you know there are so many things that play into the small gain. you sodium was probably up too and not to mention the stress! you know what you need to do. did you listen to that podcast? are you making your 24 hour plan? it is easy to slip back to old behaviors. nip it in the bud!! ohhh and your relaxing trip this weekend. what beautiful self care. you deserve it!!
@eyesopennow glad you have a doctors appt. but in the meantime that does NOT mean you quit what you are doing. you made me a promise. you need to keep working at it.
@carlsoda woooo whoooo another loss. good job. casseroles are always good. soup. I make soup once a week so if I don't have time to cook, there is healthy food to eat. I like stir frys reheated as well. ohh I love that show. but just because yesterday didn't go as planned doesn't mean your done. you should eat mindfully every meal. practice practice practice.
@hkfleming woooo whoo you made it to the 170's! that is fantastic!! you keep working your plan girl!

Mindful eating Thursday:
I posted about breakfast yesterday.
Lunch was a Smart Ones pasta - was a little spicy for me and good for something different. I had to eat it quickly because my husband called for me to bring his lunch to where he's working this week just as I took the first bite. He is building a new shed for our church and because of my volunteer activities every day I drop him off there in the morning. Anyway, I decided to cool my mouth with a Klondike bar after that spicy - for me - lunch. Mmmm.
Supper was homemade meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli. This was the third day in a row that I felt totally bloated after supper. I've been eating bigger portions of vegetables and I think that is causing the bloat. I am sure that I am not eating too much at the meal but the vegetables do cause extra gassy bloat. The meatloaf - about the size of a meatball - was yummy.1 -
@cyndiesstuff The tostitas look amazing!
@hkfleming Nice loss! Sounds like you have been working hard!
@carlsoda I will be right over! I want Lucy to have a good view! Lol! Sounds like you have a good plan for the weekend. Have fun at the wedding!
@hope002 How are things going?
@pacsnc6 Maybe you can experiment with the types or portion of veggies and see if that is what it is. I makes sense if it is the veggies since they can do that and you are increasing your portions. Hmmm.....0 -
@sleepymom5 love the pic of Daisy!
@cyndiesstuff love the pics especially the tostados. And I wish I could help myself to ur garden1 -

i did amazing yesterday on many things. i drank my water, got lots of steps, took care of my folks, ran my office. i was so tired at work. the boss was a no show. my mom must have called 10 times. she wasn't feeling well. in fact, she was sounding terrible. she didn't know what to do. she felt real dizzy again and her chest felt heavy. i told her to take one of her nitro tabs and then wait 15 minutes and if she still didn't feel better take another on. i called the doctor and he said he could not help her in his office, that she could take up to 3 nitros, a tramadol, and a zanex and if it was still getting worse to go to the hospital. i called her back and told her what the doctor had said. but i also told her this. mom, isn't this the same way you felt 4 days ago and we went to the hospital, she said yes. what did the hospital do mom? they didn't do anything (and then she complained for 5 minutes about that). mom... mommm... so than here is you choices, you know this is your heart and they can't fix your heart, yes she says. now we can go to the hospital, you will still not feel well, they won't give you anything becasue this can't be fixed, you can be totally uncomfortable, have terrible food and what you consider poor attention.... or .... you can stay at home in the comfort of your home, with your cat, dad and me. in you chair, with your tv and your ipad.. and not feel well. but first do what the doctor said, and then take a nap and then make a decision. then a young man came in my office selling candy for a trip they were going on. i bought the gummie worms and ate the whole box. went to the folks house after work and she was still sleeping. she woke up when i started getting her medicine out. she was feeling much better but still not right. i told her she was going to feel right. she has been thru a lot in the last month. and thats when jim came in with the fresh hunter's sausage from Illiowski's. i ate 2 while i did her pills. then went home and ate 3 pieces of cheese and big bowl of chili mac.
this time in my life is hard. but i am tougher. i can do this without eating myself into a coma. i know i will be ok. i am ok. today is the day. it is just one day. for one day, i can make my plan and stick to it. my health is soooo important to me. i can't go out like my mom. i won't. i will be strong enough today to stick to my plan. and i will smile. because after all, this is a part of life as well. we all learn every day. today, i will learn that loving compasion also needs to be shared with myself.
Things I will do today:
60 oz of water
journal
10 k steps
plank challenge
30 minute walk
eat when hungry and stop when satisfied
Dog bath and nails
pick up josh
maybe mom bath
order pills and new coffee pot
Laundry
Clean house
Food:
apple
cheerios
Spanish rice
deli roll
protein bar
spaghetti
Popsicle5 -
@pacsnc6 great job with your mindful eating. many times you get that gassy feeling because of the way the veggies are cooked. try experiment with different forms of cooking. you can boil, steam, fry, and roast. i personally love roasted veggies. they seem easier on my tummy!!
@sleepymom5 and @Mrsbell8well the tostadas were amazing! so fresh and good for you too. delish!! lol diet food.
@Julie8468 ohhh yea girl. look at that 2 pound loss. good job. i started my day saturday with a happy dance for you. keep that up.
@lenka1 ohh i so agree with that meme. and ... you can't out exercise a bad diet!!
@GingerPwr ohhh girl sounds like you had some serious self love. i hope you had a great time!!

What is your plan today?
It is the weekend and many of us have a hard time staying on track on the weekend. Pick one thing that gets you off track, that is really difficult for you to resist on the weekends, and spend some time on a making an escape plan.
Mine is:
Free access to the frig.
Escape plan:
put a big pretty note on my frig, that i will see when i go to open it. it will say, The way to a strong healthy body is inside this box, choose wisely my friend!!5 -
Daily check in for Friday May 17
Logged: yes, wayyyyyy+yyy over (Friday’s are my cheat night, had chips for the first time in forever)
Water: not great about 42oz
Exercise: no
Steps: 6,823 (was planning on playing golf with 11 year old, but too cold and windy)
Plan for today: gym, laundry, dishes (dishwasher broke during the week, I tried to fix it but failed, almost everything is dirty and now feeding kids off paper napkins, I need a repairman..)
Weekend weakness: is loss of control due to wine with dinner, plus all the liquid calories. We have a dinner out planned with another couple tonight, I think I can go without. Need focus, come to think about it, I may write it on my hand like Cyndie did! That was a great idea!
@cyndiesstuff I love your attitude! Daily logging in detail, posting while helping everyone, and staying positive.5
