@Shirin_K i love your attitude! sometimes when family and friends get together is is difficult to not do what we have always done. keep practicing you new skills. you are doing great. just look at that new lady you are creating!!
@sleepymom5 ohhh i am so glad your nephew is a better house guest. and having fun and sticking to your plan is exactly the goal. take a mental picture of how that felt. you can use it later when things get tough. and no the reason i didn't journal is because when i did have time, jim was there. and i feel i need to be alone to journal. so thats why. i journaled yesterday. i won't share it, it was heavy! if you know what i mean.
@carlsoda i think you are doing amazing for being an introvert! you are learning so many new skills by reading. you are doing all the hard work to create the new you. i am impressed!!
i have to go exercise, i will catch up with the rest a little later.
Today is the day Team. Lets make a plan and stick to it!!5 -
Check in for: Monday
Logged food: Yes, over but close
Water: 68 oz
Steps and Exercise: 14,196 steps, 20-minute walk, and 16 minutes yoga
So close to making all my goals yesterday! Today I WILL make every goal.
Yesterday my husband finished his last class for his MBA. We are a happy family! No more evening classes or late-night studying and more time for family activities (and house projects?)
It looks like today will be beautiful! Definitely getting outside for a walk or two and going to watch my son play baseball this evening. I have lots of things to get done around the house as well.
Today’s goals: Drink 64 ounces of water, 12,000 steps, 30 minutes of exercise/walking, log food and stay within calories. Yes, today is the day!

Good morning everyone! Yesterday I met with the nutritionist and we went over some of my problem areas which remains the same, consistency and worrying too much about the number on the scale. I do understand that with consistency comes change which would mean movement on the scale. I get so caught up in the number that I get frustrated somedays and motivated others, this emotional rollercoaster is no good. She told me to stick to getting on the scale on Mondays and only on Mondays, focus on my consistency and see what changes happen. Now to only stick to getting on the scale just once a week, I got on the scale this morning , I'm so hard headed. She also gave me a meal plan to look over and make some decisions on. I have not given it a good look through as of yet. I informed her that most days I feel like my calorie intake is too low so in the meal plans she gave me it contains calorie boosters that will help me get to my calorie goals.
She also told me about dessert hummus, I went out and purchased some brownie batter and vanilla bean hummus yesterday. I tried the brownie batter with an apple and I enjoyed it, plus it added 50 calories to my day.
Monday's Numbers
Water: 96 oz
Exercise: 55 min TurboFire and walking, 20,767 steps
Food: About 1,200 calories
I found this on pinterst yesterday, I think it's good advice.

Monday Check in:
Food - almost on track (will explain more below)
Water - great
Exercise - 10,000+ steps and yoga!
Yesterday overall was a good day. I'm back to getting myself off sugar again (yes again!!) so I allowed myself to eat when hungry but no processed foods. I'm trying to keep carbs around 50 grams or less and I finished the day at 72 which included 1/2 cup of white rice with my supper. My healthy fat and protein grams were pretty much on track! Today I'm mixing it up, had eggs and sausage with fruit for breakfast and I have a salad with some tuna and avocado mayo for lunch. Nuts and a grain free paleo granola bar for snacks. In a couple of days, things will settle down and sugar cravings will start to go away.
Today's plan:
Food - try to keep carbs at 50 or under
Exercise - today I'll try to get in extra steps - maybe I can hit 14,000?
Sleep - lights off and reading done by 9:30!
@nstephen01 – Amazing!! Great job!!!
@lenka1 – such cute cupcakes and great job just having one!!
@hope002 – good job yesterday! I love seeing your daily plan!
@Mrsbell8well – I started logging again and boy it really is educational! Good job on the 15 minutes of cleaning!
@amsandos – sorry you don’t feel well, hope you feel better soon! I know all too well about the sugary incidents – happens to me all the time 😊
@cyndiesstuff – you did pretty darn good yesterday! It’s good to have a plan to help keep you on track. Even as we deviate off the plan, it’s more a minimal than a whole day of gluttonous eating! AND…it’s great to look back and see what happened.
@shirin_k – good job yesterday and so glad hubs is done with his MBA? Is he finished/finished or finished for the summer? Have a great day and enjoy the lovely weather!
Have a good day everyone!!3 -
@gottagetthisdown - good meeting with the nutritionist. How about hiding your scale during the week. After your WI on Monday just put it away in a closet?
@cyniesstuff - sorry you're back at the hospital. Sending you hugs.1 -
Happy Tuesday everyone. You probably won't believe it, but I'm getting ready to go on another trip this Thursday to Memphis! It's kind of crazy how all these trips came up after tax season! I have managed to go to work in between the trips, but not too much! So right after tax season I went to LA to spend the holiday with my brother and sister in law and my sister flew in also (actually my sister used her Delta points to fly me to LA) (that is the first time since the 1980's that I have spent the Passover/Easter holiday with my brother and sister so it was awesome), then a friend and I found a great Groupon for a hotel on Mackinaw Island for a weekend. Then 8 girlfriends arranged a Las Vegas trip for part of a week and they are some of my favorite people to be with. Then this next trip is me taking a great friend to Memphis for his 60th birthday.
I noticed that since I had only gained one pound through all that - yesterday I was mentally in a bad frame of mind and ate the worst I have eaten in a long time. Basically just careless and almost trying to be bad. It's hard to describe, but I would have been perfectly fine having a healthy dinner - but chose some crap instead!! I need to get my head back into the game here. It is possible to go on vacation, live day to day normal life, and not gain weight. BUT, it takes me paying attention to what I'm doing and how I'm feeling, and what is going on in my head. I don't know if that makes sense to any of you, or if you have experienced that weird mental frame of mind - but it's really messed up!
Anyways, I'm trying to lift my spirits here and be excited for my trip to Memphis on Thursday - without being obsessive about food! It should not be all about food! I'm trying to give myself a pep talk and hope that maybe sharing my weirdness might trigger some suggestions from you guys. Take care and have a great Tuesday.8 -

I was off to an early appointment with MK so I am just getting caught up. We have a plan sort of for MK. I have a counseling center to contact and unfortunately more medication. I need to research both so she can get started as soon as possible. As for me- Not a bad day yesterday but not great either. I need to get my steps up but have not been planning it out well. If it wasn't for my hip, I would have just walked in place until I hit my 10K but I am not supposed to do so many steps at one time. I will do better today. I am going to try to do 30 min of the tape so that should help a little. Just organizing my clothes and bedroom so it doesn't require very many steps. Today I have the family night of the bar openings but I actually think this wont be too bad. We are doing little shifts so we won't be there all night like last time. I am planning on 2 drinks, still deciding on what to eat and then I am going to eat till satisfied. I think this is my last obligation for the bar. Then I just need to finish this spring cleaning done and get myself to the shore....
@lenka1 Isn't it a great feeling to know that you can have a treat or two and still stay on plan! Great job! Those cupcakes are beautiful! Did you ever bake professionally?
@hope002 You did well for the most part yesterday and sounds like you have a great plan for today! Keep it going!!
@Mrsbell8well 1600 for the day and all healthy is not bad at all! Once again, you are doing great!
@amsandos I am like you with the sweets! Lol! The important thing is it doesn't sound like it was a total meltdown and you took ownership of it. Try to learn from it too. What can you do differently when you are in the situation. For now, I am chewing sugarless gum when I want something sweet. It does help most times, not all.
@cyndiesstuff Each day seems to get a little better for you. I wish you could focus on yourself but unfortunately life goes on and you have all these other things to deal with too. I also wish you could see someone, even if it is just for what you are going through with your Mom. You do have a good plan heading forward, hang in there! Sounds like this is going to be a hard day. Love the reminder too! I am glad you got to journal yesterday, I understand why you would want to be alone. I do mine early so usually people are asleep, running out the door or already gone.
@Shirin_K Congrats to your husband! That is awesome! Love your plan for the day!
@phoebe112476 Nice loss!
@gottagetthisdown I think that those are all great tips from your nutritionist. I don't have a problem getting calories in but would like to know more about that hummus dessert! Lol! You had an awesome day yesterday! Great start to the week!
@carlsoda I know the getting off sugar thing really works for you so I know you will do great! I am sure it would work for me too but I am not ready for that yet lol! Great plan for the day!
@lennoncpa You have had a fun time since tax season ended Lol! Why don't you focus on the positive things. You not only maintained your weight during tax season and all those trips but you even lost a pound. You have kept up your exercise routine (I see your posts ) You had kept up on your monthly goals throughout most of tax season, not sure where you are on those now. Maybe make a plan to get through each day and don't get ahead of yourself. It is amazing how much of this is mental. Hugs.
@Cafelelia Nice day!!

@lenka those cupcakes look delicious - what a good Mom you are
@lennoncpa enjoy those trips while you can - vacations are about fun - not eating everything but it's good to try new foods in new places.
@gottagetthisdown that's a great picture you found on pintrest - right on point

I didn't get my workout in yesterday, when I got home I had such a migraine. Those take a lot out of me. Not sure if I will make it to my Zumba class today. I had to leave work to take my son to the er. They sent him home from work he was have sharp pains in his stomach and vomiting. He called the surgeon who operated on his stomach and they told him to get here asap. They are doing tests and the Dr is in surgery so it's a waiting game. This kid can't catch a break. He should just rent a room at the hospital. I'll check in later.5

@cyndiesstuff love the hand!
@lenka1 love the beautiful cupcakes!
@ljdanny oh no! Sorry to hear about your son.
@gottagetthisdown love the pic!!! Agreed!
@carlsoda I’ve been off sugar since October. My headaches gone my life has changed!
@lennoncpa love your musings. Makes sense to me. We are always juggling trying to find the answers to a moving target.
@phoene112476 you just get better and better at this w each passing week!
@Shirin_K what an accomplishment for your whole family! It will be a big lifestyle change for the good!
@amsandos I used to be a sugar fiend. It’s hard to break but the benefits are many. Great job getting back on track!
2 -
@carlsoda I always appreciate your supportive comments! Thank you
@sleepymom5 I love your life balance. Take care of your hip. Don’t push it. We tend to want to do the all or nothing mind set. Be gentle.0 -
Today was employee appreciation day at the office. They sprung for a buffet this year -- baked chicken wings, meatballs marinara, pasta salad, fried chicken sliders, veggie egg rolls, crab dip, cold cuts, veggie sandwiches, breads for sandwiches, mega-brownies. A dieter's nightmare. I got through it at an estimated 466 calories -- coldcuts on lettuce (skipped the bread), 1/4 cup pasta, two wings, two mini egg rolls, a third of a brownie, diet soda. A great plate!7

Haven't checked in for a bit... lots going on. Mother's day went well. I was blessed to have a wonderful mother and scored in the mother-in-law department as well but we lost both too early to cancer in recent years. Being motherless and childless has really done a number on my mental health the last few years but I felt good this time. Had a productive day, ate well and took time to be kind to myself. Coincidentally I reached my 50 pounds lost milestone on mother's day... I think my mom would be proud of my perseverance. I kinda, sorta don't believe it but its stuck since Sunday. Funny how we believe the scale when its nice LOL
Clearly I don't understand the last challenge because I thought others did better than I but thanks for all the congrats!
I found out a dear friend of mine has been in the hospital for 2 weeks. They've been keeping it quiet but her daughter posted something on Instagram that gave me pause so I called. She's in really, really bad shape. Ya know... one of these who takes care of everyone but herself, sadly. I fly out Friday to PA to see hubby and when I return I'm going to drive to California to see my friend. For some reason I'm feeling really overwhelmed today. I think if I can get this trip east out of the way I can focus on getting to California. Somehow I'm managing to stay on track with my eating, exercise and water. I pretty much have to write everything down as I'm afraid I'll miss something. Feeling like if my head wasn't attached I'd misplace it!!
@ljdanny So sorry your son is back in the hospital!
@lenka1 beautiful cupcakes. You are so talented!
Awesome restraint @eyesopennow
Hugs @sleepymom5. You amaze me at how much you have going on and manage to stay on track. I agree... planning is key!
Oh no @cyndiesstuff not again. Prayers.
That is good advice @gottagetthisdown
Sounds like a good plan @carlsoda!
Congrats to your husband... that's a major accomplishment @Shirin_K and to you for holding everything together throughout.
And to everyone else I haven't mentioned, I've enjoyed reading your posts and send best wishes for a great week! I've got to run... I know there's something I need to be doing that I'm forgetting...

@hope002 the best way to save yourself from those kinda days is to make a plan in the morning before you get started. and i love the plan for your day, but you need to also plan your food. you can do this girl. it only takes a few minutes and it will keep you new way of eating right in front of you. and good job getting your steps in anyway. that is awesome. keep working on that new you, she is coming out amazing.
@ljdanny sounds like you have a good day planned. keep that up!! omgosh i am praying there is nothing wrong. you and him do need a break. wow. i am so sorry. thats tough..
@kirsten11872 you are doing great. sometimes we have to try and find 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there to get our exercise in. thats ok too. it all counts!! just keep moving.
@Cafelelia how old is your mom? is she enjoying her ipad? and ugghhh root canal. those are tough. take it easy lady.
@jedaschultz we will take that as a maintain. good job not gaining over mothers day.
congrat @nstephenson01 for placing first and @Shirin_K for a close second. you all did great!!
@GingerPwr have you ever wrote out positive affirmations? so much can be conquered in you life if you change what you say to yourself. spend some time writing 3 or 4 out and then say them over and over out loud to yourself. look up how to write positive affirmations on line if you need some help.
@Julie8468 well... grocery shopping was not a bad use of your time. you got some steps and got some good food. we will take that as a win!!
@lenka1 those spring cupcakes are just wonderful. you are so talented. and good job just eating one and staying on track the whole day. look at the new you go! what an amazing NSV!!
@Mrsbell8well ohhh yea, cleanin house and taking names. angelina and family are making it tidy! proud of you girl
@amsandos sometimes i say my mind has a mind of its own. but we know this really isn't true. maybe you schedule 3 treats a week, your joy food, put it on the calendar, look forward to it. i think the less we deprive ourselves the more successful we will be! good job analyzing it!! now what will you do to change the behavior?
@Shirin_K omgosh, hubby has an MBA! whats he want to be when he grows up? lol. no really tho, that is an amazing achievement.
@phoebe112476 nice loss again this week. your doing great. how is everything going?
@gottagetthisdown ohhh we all know how that scale can mess with our heads. good job sticking with it tho. this is a hard undertaking and you are doing it. hmmm brownie hummus???? im curious now!!
@carlsoda i have thought about giving up sugar. it sounds tough. not sure if i could make the adjustment. but i do think it would be helpful because sugar is a trigger for me. you will get there. keep workin it!! and i whole heartedly agree. a good plan is a huge key to success.
@lennoncpa hey tax time is over, vacation away girl!! and i think mentally we have all been there. it is difficult always being vigilant. and sometimes we just get to a point we say to hell with it. you will spring back from this tho, don't let it go on to long. it is a slippery slop. and maybe you spend some time and write out how you will behave on this trip, what is acceptable and what is not. only put things on the list that you are at least 80 percent sure you will do. then read it every day before you go. prove to yourself that you are worth it.
@sleepymom5 maybe instead of steps right now you focus more on upper body and stretching. you are going to be so busy tonite. enjoy the people. this is all part of the new you. you got this. i have not given up on the search. i just can't believe it is this hard.
@eyesopennow omgosh. you did it. i am soooo proud of you. building the new mike is working out great. what does he look like when you are done? i think i have asked you that before!! just saying.
@nstephenson01 yayayayay 50 pounds!!
5 -
@nstephen01 congrats on 50!!! That is such an accomplishment!!!
@cyndiesstuff you always have such great advice for everyone! Thank you.
I’m actually enjoying the logging. Tonight when I hit the end button it said I would weigh 140 in 5 weeks lol!!! Yahoo that’s 2 pounds under my goal. So remarkable. Curious what tomorrow’s weigh in will show. I usually skip dinner on Tuesday. But not this week. It’s been a relief to be off the scale.
@gottagetthisdown trust me I’m going through the same thing with the scale. It’s a terrible game. Trust in your behaviors and your program. The scale will reflect it at some point. It’s really nice taking a break from daily weigh ins. They really do alter our moods.0 -
Offer on a house was accepted by the seller a few days ago. Inspection went really well today. Loved spending some more time getting to know the house. We move in 3 weeks. Exciting and overwhelming!! Graduation and party for my oldest in less then two weeks. My new little foster daughter was placed almost two months ago to stay in my house for two nights so her paternal grandmother could get ready to take her as pre-adoptive placement. Things have not been moving in that direction and caseworker confirmed yesterday that grandmother is not going to be able to adopt. Trying to find a school to enroll her in for the fall in our the new neighborhood before school is out in 2 weeks. Spring allergies are terrible right now and feel like crap. Not much time to think about my weight loss plan, but staying on track with my prior plan (mostly). Yoga class 2-3 times each week. Still losing a bit faster than I wish, but no time to be super concerned right now.7
-
Realized this morning I ha d less than 20 pounds to lose to get to a normal BMI. Almost 60 gone. Wow. Such a good feeling.6
-
Daily check in for Tuesday May 14
Logged: yes, a little over
Water: awful, maybe 40oz, but had lots of coffee to keep me going today.
Steps: 11,945
Exercise: did a one hour class at the gym, plus 1/2 hour on elliptical.
It’s so hard to get everything done at work from 9-5, I just can’t work overtime right now with trying to make it to the gym, and take care of the house and kids. I know I’m not doing a great job at everything, but doing ok. Also, my gym buddy is my 13 year old son. He joined with me in March, and isn’t afraid to take a class with his mom, as long as we stay away from Zumba and yoga. I still think yoga will happen, he just needs to be in the right frame of mind. He really needs help with his flexibility.
I can tell you that tonight, I’m a very happy girl. Background: My husband who has been “suffering” through the last few months of having to fend for himself at dinner time (since I am gone to the gym normally between 6:30-8 pm depending on the class). Has been coming home to the kids fed (but not what he likes to eat) and no supper made for him. He’s eaten popcorn, crackers, take out on way home, and the kids Easter goodies, but never made a meal for himself. Well tonight, he cooked! We have a meal service called “good food” just like I think you have “hello fresh” in the USA. My husband picked up the recipe card, pulled out the stuff and cooked. When I got home with my 13 year old, he served US dinner. The 11 year old had subway.

@ljdanny Oh no! I hope it is nothing serious! Keep us posted
@eyesopennow Great job! I am sure that is not easy to do! Those were all my favorite things to eat at that type of event! You should be proud of yourself!
@nstephenson01 Congrats on 50lb loss! How exciting! Sorry to hear about your friend. I am going the end of the month to see a friend who is also not doing well (remember my friend who had a stroke?) . It is a little strange to think that we are at an age that these things hppen.
@phoebe112476 Congrats on the new house! So many things going on right now! How sad that the little girls grandmother can't adopt her. She is lucky that she was placed with you! xoxo . Wow! 60 lbs is amazing!!
@Mrsbell8well Thanks for posting that. I think some of my problem is that I feel like I am slacking off
@julia8468 I am so excited about the hubs helping out. I am pretty sure my husband wouldnt . Great job!2 -
Sorry everyone-I will post the weights tomorrow morning. I am so beat. TTyL! Wednesday's Weigh Ins
@Mrsbell8well
@GingerPwr2 -
TEAM WEIGHT NO MORE... I SAW A POST EARLIER IN THE MONTH ABOUT NOT GETTING NEW MEMBERS.... WE ARE IN FACT TRYING EVEN OUT THE TEAMS SO WE ALL HAVE ABOUT THE SAME NUMBER OF MEMBERS... THAT BEING SAID AS SOON AS THE OTHER TEAMS CATCH TO YOUR # OF 25 MEMBERS THEN I WILL BE ADDING TO YOUR TEAM AS WELL.

@phoebe112476 so happy to hear about your new home! How wonderful that you are a foster mom, so many kids need help. I hope all goes well with your little one over the summer and her new school. And way to go on 60 pounds gone!!!!! That is definitely worth feeling good about! So awesome!1
-
@nstephenson01 congrats to you for the 50lbs milestone! Woohoo! Doing great. The baby goat picture was so cute! I would be sneaking one of those out to play with at home. Hope they come visit again soon. Sorry to hear about your friend in California, but do hope you take time to enjoy reconnecting with your husband!2
