    Saturday check in

Food - Logged & on target
    Water 1.3 l
    Exercise - physio & 8069 steps

My husband and I had a great date night last night. We went to a French bistro which has a lot of healthy food and a focus on vegetables and vegetarian dishes. It was delicious and I was able to stay on track without any fuss. The only glitch was having some extra wine, but I had accounted for that in my calorie budget and also worked in extra steps walking to and from the restaurant from our house (about 35 minutes each way). Btw, no sciatica pain at all when walking!!

@sleepymom5 - Hope that your mom is ok & sending you a hug.

@Mrsbell8well - Lovely strawberries! You are so right about diet, eating whole foods and the quality of food that we take in.

@eyesopennow - Love how you included an instruction manual on your reading list! I have given up on them & just tell my 12 year old to set up any electronics.

@cyndiesstuff - You are persevering & today is a new day! Great idea for the team challenge!!

Will post my reading list shortly!

My reading list - I also have a few books going

    1f8hthoowiqv.jpeg

I listen to audiobooks when exercising or doing boring tasks like ironing & laundry. The title for this book is harsh but the book itself contains a lot of common sense. The gist of the book is to be comfortable with who you are & where you are at in life.

I love reading about running but stopped during my injury because I was so bummed out about it. Now that I am on the mend, I am back at it with this enjoyable book about women runners.

I have read this one a few times & am reading it again as my running has resumed. I know a lot of runners who gain weight when training for a race because your calorie needs to go up with the intense exercise. It can be tricky when you are trying to lose & train. I love this book & it has helped me in training in the past.

I really love this book for training. I have run all kinds of races & distances over the years including some half marathons, with my most recent one being last year. After that, I set the goal for a full marathon this year, but then I became injured (it’s not even a running injury!). I want to set that goal again but need to give myself some time with this gradual return to running. Maybe 2020, if I can swing it. If not, I will do another half.

Best of luck with the 10 k race!! I love that distance for a great race. 5 k is kind of short & over too quickly. Half & full marathons are huge training & time commitments. 10 k is just right!

We live too remotely to get a newspaper delivered so getting the chance to relax with the Sunday paper & a cup of coffee at my dad’s was nice. I often read 2 books at a time. Evening is something light designed to ease me to sleep (currently The Litigators) and daytime something more thought provoking.

Daily check in for Saturday-Sunday May 25/26:
Logged: yes, a over yesterday, about even today
Water: good about 2L (counting sparkling lemon flavoured water)
Exercise: made it to the gym Saturday and Sunday.

I apologize for not posting, our house has been invaded by my in-laws since Friday afternoon. Very overwhelming, so tired, been anxious all weekend so far. Everyone should be gone by Tuesday husband leaves to go out of town Thursday until Sunday. Meanwhile back at school and work for our family tomorrow.

I think I’m caught up now, and I am so sorry to hear about friends and family, I hope everyone is doing better.

As for reading, in print it’s only a technical book for work. I read all of your posts, read articles on the internet, and listen to podcasts. Haven’t actually read a book for fun since maybe early 2018. Wow, I really need to change that..

@sleepymom5 I’m so proud of you for all your planning. You are really doing a great job. This is what our life is about and adapting to changes. Good luck with your mom.
@nstephenson01 I am a fan of Dr McGregors. Have you checked out his app daily dozen?
@twyla77 I am so impressed with all your steps. And your mom doing a 1/2 marathon wow and a 10K for your sister. Those are huge time commitments. What a lovely celebration.
@Cafelelia your running is impressive. Good luck with your healing. I have flirted w 1/2 marathon but it is such a big time commitment. And I trained 3 times for a marathon and never made it to a race. Injuries each time but it’s always hidden in the back of my mind. That and hiking the Appalachian trail.

I checked in yesterday so heading off to the gym. Have a great day everyone!

@MrsBell8well My brother hiked almost half of the Appalachian trail. I dropped him in Maryland (or was it Va?) and he just crossed into Maine when he had to stop. He had intestinal problems that they couldn't find the cause for months after he stopped. He also had bad plantar fasciitis . Apparently at one point in PA it is very rocky and he thinks that started it. Good experience for him otherwise. He was so bummed he had to stop. Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday! Love the stuff you bought! So pretty!
@cyndiesstuff I am sorry to hear that you are struggling. It sounds like you still pushed through and prepped for success! The future Cyndie thanks you!
@Lenka1 Wow! What a beautiful cake! You need to open a shop! Your daughter is so beautiful! Just like her Mama!

    Check in for Sunday

    Food - Logged & under
    Water 1 l
    Exercise - Physio & 2k steps :(

I am under pressure to meet some work deadlines this week so had to work late last night & probably for the next few days. Could not get running in last night but will try later today. I have been so focused on my deadline that I have not bought anything yesterday & today! Will post later in that.

@Mrsbell8well - you should continue to flirt with the half marathon idea! It is a big time commitment but only closer to race day when the long runs become pretty long. If you are running 10 k, you are almost halfway! Given your weight loss & exercise, you may have a different experience with training this time. Like anything, you find a plan that works for you and follow it. Also you can go to a running clinic or get a coach (they are online too) to help you to avoid injury, discuss nutrition & stay in track. Just a thought!

@sleepymom5 - hope that you mom is ok. It is not easy having aging parents. And omg, I love that Jen Sincero book. Have the audiobook & she got me through the last part of my half marathon training last year.

@Lenka1 - your daughter is adorable & you have quite the baking talent!! That cake is lovely!

@cyndiesstuff - your flowers are lovely!!

Recent purchases. The first is my answer to the question "what else can I do besides throw a shoe through the television at 2 AM when Wyfe has insomnia?"

    tssm6wcbf4c3.jpg

And this one is an ingredient I ordered a few weeks back. I am going to make Bermuda Fish Chowder in the next week or two, and this is a wonderful garnish for it. I just have to get to the market and pick up what I need, not the least of which is several fish heads. And some dark rum. (Here's the recipe if you are curious. It is amazing.)
