Did you know that the World Health Organization has issued a revision of the BMI range chart that now takes age into account as well as height / weight?
This is a great one. Makes much more sense to me.

Happy Farhers Day!

Weigh in day Sunday
Previous weight: 162.4
Current weight: 161.45 -
Saturday weigh in, week two.
PW: 244.6
CW: 245.2
Sigh.
All that stress and bad eating, and I basically lost a week of progress. Feels like I'll never drop all this weight.
@Terytha Keep going, it is very hard but just refocus and keep going. The worst is when you stop and then put the weight back on that you worked so hard to take off. You go this2 -

I found this in Success stories and it’s a very inspiring read!
@Connie7355 thanks for sharing this was great1 -
HATS OFF to our top LOSERS for this past week ----
1st @evangsimmons170
2nd @zlauerMom
3rd @Andreabroadley
We managed to come in 3rd this week, but it was not a fabulous week for anyone but the winning team, Mission Slimpossibles. We did OK, though - and I feel certain that this coming week we will be climbing back up the mountain.
It is good seeing these recent discussions of numbers. And fear. @mari_moulin - you are feeling a lot of fear about the end of the losing process. And I am sure that all of us know that fear of the beginning the process. It is so strange how frightening it can be to change the patterns. Stopping what we are used to is really scary. @mari_moulin you must remember that from when you decided to seriously lose weight. I sure do. And even now, if I slip a bit (I have been more-or-less at maintenance for over 5 years), starting the losing process again is always somehow frightening. It is much easier to fall into lax habits (you are right to be scared of that!), but staying too strict or even becoming kind of obsessive is also driven by fear, as you said. I had to come back to this kind of team to keep the quiet reminder and camaraderie in order not to un-do all the hard work of losing. I hope you will find the style of maintenance that really works for you (with all the help you need!) and that the maintenance tribe is a great place for you. You will ALWAYS be a hero to those with a lot to lose - what you have accomplished is fabulous, and your energy and encouragement is irreplaceable.
@evangsimmons170 - well done this week! And the challenge against the Workout Warriors (Game ON) will continue for another week for sure. The "beat your best" challenge, though, will only continue as long as people keep posting there. So be sure to keep doing that! (on https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10748643/week-2-group-challenge-beat-your-best#latest )
It was a "week 2" challenge, and there will be a new one for week 3 as well. In the meantime, keep on posting scores over on the Game ON challenge. We could use more points!!!!2 -
So @Connie7355 -- you're back? Thanks for the great link.1

@jugar Yes I am back!! I gained 1.6lbs which I didn’t think was too bad for being gone 6 days and eating every meal out. I will admit to having frozen custard twice. Love that stuff!! Sooo now I’m back on the wagon and ready to go!! The best thing is that now that I’m retired I don’t have to go back to work tomorrow!! YAY!!!3

Retirement has its wonderful sides - and not caring what day it is (or even knowing half the time) is the best! And wow - "frozen custard" is a blast from the far distant past. For you, is it an ice cream with raisins and rum flavor? That's what I remember from my childhood before leaving New England and finding that no one had any idea what the stuff is. But I'll stop talking about that stuff. It is not on the wagon with us, right?0 -

It is ice cream with added chopped up candy such as my favorite, toffee (Heath candy bars) or just about anything you like. It is sooo good!!
Sadly you are so right!! It’s definitely not on the wagon with us!!0 -

Can you send me the link to the spreadsheet, so that I can remind myself what-all is involved? A great sense of pressure has just LEFT my life earlier this week so I am in a better place to look at this kind of thing (which I usually do find motivating)
Step update will follow this evening.0 -
What would people find motivating to discuss or trade ideas on? I can throw out discussion-starters or repost tips/tools from the past that newbee F2Fers haven't seen yet .... what topics and/or tone would help / support / encourage / (provide squib-under-the-butt as needed .... )
NB: a squib is one of those small noise-making firecrackers like the ones you see in movies that include scenes in a Chinatown setting - not the big rockets that launch aerial "two colour bangs"0 -

see! I was right, you ARE much closer to a "green range" than you thought! maybe 5 pounds - and depending on your muscle-mass ratio ... maybe even less.
Any change is stressful, even "happy events". So if you are finding even the idea of PREPARING to transition to maintenance so hyper-stressful, then I would fully encourage you to get support and guidance from someone who specializes in physiological support related to eating issues, (or a related support group). Your doctor or nutritionist should be able to provide referrals. There has been much progress in the field of connotative behavior approach to first identifying and then managing stressors, and learning strategies for self-redirecting away from trigger-attitudes.1 -

Someone posted this on my MFP feed, and I'd like to talk about finding our WHY.
For me, I think finding my WHY...the real WHY...for getting healthy, exercising, and losing weight...is at the root of my journey. Why am I doing this? I think of this question a lot as it pertains to various aspects of my life. What I struggle with the most is coming up with MY REAL answer, not the one I think others think I should have. BIG DIFFERENCE. For example, I have no kids and no siblings, and my parents and grandparents on both sides are deceased. Plus I'm divorced. Before you say my life sucks, I firmly believe life is what you make it, no matter where you are or what state you're in. So doing this for my "family" is a misnomer.
The answer I think others might think I should give is that I'm doing it for ministry's sake. (I'm an associate pastor.) After all, I agree that it is not a good testimony to preach self-control and not practice what I preach, even when it comes to diet and exercise. I get that. To be honest, I am embarrassed and almost ashamed that this valid reason why is not at the top of my list.
But my REAL WHY goes much deeper. I moved from the northeast US to the southwest US 16 years ago. EVERYTHING about my life has changed...for the better, I might add. For example, I had no college degree when I moved here at the age of 34. Now at 50, I have a masters degree and working on a doctorate. My whole outlook on life has completely changed, as well as how I view myself. The one thing -- the ONLY thing -- that remains from the person I was 16 years ago before I moved is my obesity. There. I said it. Carrying this excess weight around is the one constant reminder of who I used to be. It was a different time and a different place. I am not who I used to be. I wholeheartedly believe losing this weight is the final step in my complete metamorphosis. Why I'm still struggling with my weight or what has taken me so long (16 years) to conquer this will take too long for an MFP post.
All I know is that my WHY...the real one...is to bring closure on the old me and a beginning of a new chapter for the new me. That's my WHY and I'm sticking to it!9 -
Hi all!
Weigh in day: Monday
SW: 134.2
PW: 134.4 (last Tuesday 6/11 -- I was traveling on Monday)
CW: 133.0
It helped me that I was weighing in today -- I wanted to make sure I had a loss this week! Trying to get back to the 120's by the end of this month...even 129 will make me happy -- so that's my short term goal.

Had a little run-in with some cake on Father's Day. Mainly in response to getting my ultrasound test result back onlline, which was negative. Interesting that one can get good news, and still be emotionally eating!
Back on it today. Sorry to my co-challengers, I blew some points!5 -

WHY is such a great question. Thanks, @evangsimmons170 for starting that ball rolling! Your exploration is interesting and well explained. Changing a great deal as a person can make it hard to let go of all of the old person, though. Making the change all the way is a good why, but be sure to know what you are keeping of that wonderful former person (even if you don't thinks she was so wonderful!).
So let's look at some whys. For me, I'm not doing this for anyone but myself - not for family or friends, or to be a good example - just for me. I needed to earn some self-respect, and remember that I am the only one in control of what I eat, drink, and do. I do this to be strong. What are your whys? Does knowing them give you what you need to go for those goals? To stick to it?2 -

Yeah - was it? Sounds like you had some stuff to celebrate, and you'll be racking up points tomorrow, right?1 -

@jugar What's interesting is that I don't think I was a bad person before. I generally love myself. It's just that my life is SO different now in ways that I doubt it would be had I not moved 2,000 miles from home. How I think about myself and the world around me is different; so are my goals and aspirations. Add to that that I'm 50, and midlife brings with it its own changes. LOL So I love the new me just because she's different and has so much more to offer.2 -
I am working on the steps report to show you how far things have gone, but there are a lot of numbers missing from week 2! Week 1 report, however tardy, is just about ready to roll, but I want to do them together. So, please get those numbers in for June 9-15 - thanks!

My WHY is my high blood pressure. My doctor was ready to put me on a third BP med because it was so high and I convinced her to wait and see if I could lose some weight and hopefully that would help. Since then I’ve lost around 30 lbs (actually since last year at this time) and my BP has come down to acceptable levels. I’ve still got another 20 lbs to go to get to where the doctor wants me to be but I’m getting there. All together I’ve lost 45lbs since I started losing several years ago. I’ve gained and lost several times. It’s a journey that I hope to be taking for the last time!!3
