  • My first wedding, when I was 23, I had the big white dress.

Even this is to make our parents happy, but it's much simpler as befits two people who are each on their second marriage and are introverts from a family of introverts and people with disabilities, who don't want to mess around. So we can all come together, be witnesses, and then eat together and get home at a decent hour.
  • And just in case you think I have it all together, I'm sitting here unable to do much because it seemed a good idea to take my muscle relaxant in the middle of the night and now at quarter to nine in the morning it has not worn off. So I am very....relaxed. Which isn't helpful for getting on with the laundry, you know!

Fell off the wagon and got trampled by the horses last night. BUT I think I know what happened. I am doing some deep cleaning around the apartment and yesterday was a lot of work. Plus I ran (well walked lol) errands. So a lot of activity... and I did not spread out my food well. By the time dinner came around I was famished and I ate all the food after that. Nearly a whole frozen pizza... a bowl of cereal... chocolate... ugh.

Trying to do better today cause I am still cleaning like crazy. Right now all I have on my list left are to do the floors in the living room. I also have the sheets and blankets from the daybed (which I use as a couch) in the laundry downstairs. So will need to remake the daybed when they are finished. Almost done!

Tomorrow is the bedroom including more laundry for the bedsheets. Then Monday is my normal laundry day but that is it.

What is it about housecleaning that makes me crazy hungry? It’s boring, repetitive work that needs to be done - so I comfort myself with a good meal (or two!) as a reward. The fatigue makes me lose all control.

I halfway experienced this with my sons. When they were young I was probably too much of a healthy food fanatic. Younger son took it upon himself at a very young age to find his foods of choice out in the world. Chips. Turned out his milk/juice money went to chips. Lots of chips.
His dad and I were going through a divorce - not a nasty one but still not easy on kids - and his "drug of choice" was food. Once he was in school I lost control of what he ate.
Older one has never had any issues with food or weight - except losing too much with his terrible job where he was frequently overheated and dehydrated. But not disordered eating patterns.
Who really knows why/how it all goes wrong on the eating front.

Congrats on your good cardiologist report, Yooly! (lost that in this flurry of posts) If you chill right out you might be able to make those 50,000 more miles last 50 years!!!

So excited to hear from you, Alexandra. Really looking forward to seeing your dress(es).

Everyone's house sounds so clean! I've given myself a pass card on floors until the knee is feeling better. It is starting to - but I'm not going to blow that on vacuuming and mopping.

I've taken to throwing sheets down on my floor... Two dogs and disgusting raw bones everyday as a bribe to keep them happy when I'm not walking them (other than getting them all psyched up letting them out one door to the backyard and calling them in through another.)

Finished all the cleaning that is gonna get done this weekend. Ended up doing the bedroom today instead of Sunday. I woke up Sunday in pain and with so much fatigue. So it became a very lazy day where I watched a bunch of YouTubes and slept on and off. Got it all done though so that is what matters.

The weekend was also really rough food wise, but I am working to get back to doing better.

I had a doctors appointment this morning ….it was ok….of course I had gained a ton of weight back but he did give me hope….also started me on a new med to take with the antidepressant I already take….this new one is supposed to help curb addictions to various substances; hopefully food lol…it is also a mood enhancer!

I guess we all have various reasons why our moods change…post partum depression, changing seasons, addictions, financial problems, family problems, arguments, the list goes on and on….it is hard to pinpoint exactly why we are sad, depressed, anxious, lose motivation or have no energy…right now I have little time for myself and I feel completely overwhelmed by everything….I have no energy and no motivation to do anything…some days I feel used up….hopefully this will pass because right now I feel like he$$…

Connie you have a lot of things going on your house all the time. I get tired just thinking about your list! Connie personal time suffers as a result! 🤯

Good going Athijade! Nothing like relaxing in a clean house hopefully with less pain. A clean house makes me feel like a clean start.

Hope the meds work Connie. You’d think by the time you get to this point in life you could just have time to enjoy some worry free days. Unfortunately that isn’t a true picture of the fabled golden years. The tribulations of life go on.......

  • I spent too long in a hoarded up house to feel good when things get cluttered and dusty.

Put a chair together today to replace Fiance's desk chair, which broke. And I'm working on the waistband of a pair of underwear, having figured out how I want to fasten them, which affects how I make them.

Sounds like an adventure this weekend too! I hope you son is not too engaged in the idea of "dieting" - I honestly think that is where things start to go seriously wrong on the disordered eating front. I started dieting when I was 8 or 9 ... I have never in my life just been able to "eat" when I'm hungry - not eat when I'm satisfied. I didn't realize until relatively recently that it isn't normal to be know the calorie counts of most foods. I figured everyone did...lol...but that isn't the case. Some people can eat relatively intuitively. Imagine that!

Nope he isn't dieting at all. He is training for his Philmont. We are not counting his calories he is just not eating as much. We are not exercising to loose weight we are exercising to prepare his body for a 12 day backpacking adventure. He knows he needs to shed some pounds ("mom all the fun activities I have to be under 200lbs. I need to loose a few pounds to get there") I am trying to teach him healthy portions and healthier ways to look at food so that when he gets older he has a good foundation

This weekend was a whirl of activities. Food choices suffered a bit but I was moving a lot more. I was also very conscious of the amount of food I was eating. Scale didn't move so I was happier. I am starting my Hogwarts Challenge this week and so I hope with the daily accountability to earn points and stuff it will help to keep me in check.

I am finding that unstructured time is hard for me this time. I do great all week and then the weekend comes and I want to snack and eat all the peanut butter cups! It doesn't help that my stick thin husband has to have all the sugary snacks and such in order to survive. We are all working to move one day at a time. I am going to rock it this week and see some downward movement on the scale!

Scoutmom, our son weighed 10.9 lbs at birth and at six weeks a whopping 16 lbs!….he continued growing and chubbing up until he was a sophomore in h.s….he grew 5 inches taller in one year!…he is now 49 and he is 6’8” and weighs about 250 to 260!….he is on a police hockey team and twice a year he does 20 to 25 miles on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia and N. Carolina…he was a BoyScout and loved it….he was one rank away from Eagle when he lost interest in scouting and became interested in girls lol…he still has to watch what he eats and can’t go overboard or he gains…he missed out on a lot of activities in middle school by being too heavy or being uncomfortable in clothes made for sports…I dont think you are ever too young to learn about eating healthy and realizing how good exercise is for you…I think it is wonderful you are helping him and joining in with him…

Philmont is this super intensive high adventure scouting trip. Essentially 12 days backpacking through the mountains and living off the land. Everything you have is strapped to your back. He’s technically not old enough but he skipped a grade so he got in on a loop hole. It sounds terrible to me but it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. He is so excited to go!

Gym day which generally leaves me hungry all day. I need the exercise but not the hungries!
I haven’t been counting exercise calories because it’s usually only around 300. But maybe adding a couple hundred back into the food allowance would make me less prone to crazy snacking all day. Giving that a try today.

Yoolypr I usually eat back 25% to 50% of my exercise calories….if I don’t, I am starving later….it’s amazing how a swim break to eat some yogurt or a banana or a protein bar and some water helps you power through!

So far today has been pretty good….coffee for breakfast, roast beef sandwich and tomato soup for lunch…I took grandaughter to school, ran a few errands and picked her up after school…nothing exciting!

Can I just say I am so proud of everyone here. Even when we have bad days, we support each other and look at what we can do better. We really are trying to figure out WHY we do what we do.

As for me, I messed up royally last night. The cats had their first vet appointment at 5pm. Which was stupid of me because it was dinner time and I was already hungry. By the time I got home, I just did not care and I ordered in fast food. And WAY overate on top of that. Today I feel so bloated and my digestive track hates me. Ugh.

    So why did it happen?
    (1) I let myself get too hungry
    (2) I messed up my meal plan this week and didn't have leftovers like originally planned

So I learned something about making sure my planning is better for those sorts of night.

@Athijade You messed one day up. Not that big a deal in the long run. More importantly you learned from it so that it won't happen again. It's rough when life gets in the way of schedule.

maybe you can find a few fast food places that have less calorie dense choices. My not be as awesome as a quarter pounder or a Mexican pizza but it is quick and won't throw you completely off. I also focus more on my weekly totals. It all comes out in the wash!

Hey the not let yourself get too hungry is a good idea.

I used to have some "go-to", stupid pet tricks... maybe I should think of re-implementing them myself!

Too hungry to think and not willing to drive home and cook before eating....

mc'd's vanilla cone... sold as about 240 Cal in Canada. They are approximately 170 to 190 Cal per 100g when you look at Dairy Queen and McD's as an average. I haven't weighed one recently but they used to be around 150g sometimes more... so closer to 280 Cal on average. However, the quick sugar hit is usually enough to perk me up and if I give it a few minutes to settle before continuing on I am no longer immediately hungry... which gives me time to get back home and cook instead of eating EVERYTHING  And in actual fact tends to keep me going for a good 2 to 3 hours. Which in my case is not a bad result for the calories! However a Magnum on a stick doesn't serve the same purpose as a second or third one will usually insist on following!

while at home the equivalent for me would be apples! I like Ambrosias as they are less acidic, or at least they feel that way to me. at 52 Cal per 100g a lb of apples comes in below the McD's vanilla cone... and I have some questions as to whether I would be immediately willing to eat something else after downing a lb of apples while cooking or contemplating what to order... it might even make me unwilling to order since I would no longer be hungry! It doesn't pay to shop or order while hungry  A more "normal" person might just limit themselves to a large apple or a couple of smaller ones instead of aiming for a lb... but hey... a lb is just like a small chocolate bar... only takes more room!

And there is always the option of pre-cutting them and coating them in lemon juice and adding cinnamon... I digress.... I think I'm going to go cut me some apples!

PS other "favorites" for fast food include chili (wendy's or tim's) or soups (tim's, watch for the bun), or, let's be honest... the "single sandwich to keep me going" idea at McD's, which for me is usually some combination of 3 to 400 Cal. Egg mcMuffin, no butter, extra egg sometimes, definitely max onions. Or egg mcMuffin plus a meat patty ordered separately and put together. Or hamburger single or double or mcdouble with or without a side egg depending on time, calories, and hunger level!

Athijade I agree with you!…our small but mighty group is always so supportive!…

I also know how it is to be so perfect a few days, you start feeling like you have a handle on it and then out of the blue a switch goes off in your brain and WAM you start eating paint chips off of the walls!…sometimes you silently cry while you are eating!…or you beat yourself up mentally and other times you get so angry with yourself for eating that you spit the food out and throw the rest in garbage…I have been there so many times…I have hidden food and made secret stops to eat food in the car….and once I blow it, the race is on to eat as much as I can because tomorrow I will start over…why do I do it?….

I hope my new meds help me overcome some of these habits!…binge eating, OCD, and ADHD and impulsiveness are all symptoms of an underlying problem…I think I am finally heading in the right direction addressing my issues…throw it all together with the chaos in my life right now and it’s no surprise I am overwhelmed and depressed….

I hope you can find some answers like I am…the WHY is as important as the solution!

    Happy Friday!

Been a back and forth week. My weight is down. Woo hoo. My TOM showed up after 15 years. WTH!! My body doesn't know what is going on.

Yesterday was an interesting experiment. I was hungry in the early afternoon but I made it under my calories without too much fuss. I am going to try again today and see how it goes.

I'm worried about this weekend. Weekends are when I struggle. All that free time leads to lots of boredom snacking. We have a lot of stuff planned so hopefully I won't be too bored.

My son's weight is coming down too. He's super excited that he is down below 200 and it wasn't hard. He only weighs once a week.
