I came close to quitting my job last week. In fact, I ended up taking last Friday off just so I didn't rage quit. Only thing keeping me here right now is the fact I need money to live.

So needless to say, my stress and anxiety were way up and that led to a lot of bad decisions this past week. I think I have eaten out at least once a day about 80% of the days. I feel like crud because I am eating like crud. I have zero energy.

I really need to get back on track. I was doing well yesterday, but then ordered McDonald's again.

so sorry about the work situation Athijade! Unfortunately finances dont give us much freedom. Perhaps 🤔 seriously looking for another job before another rage quitting threatens?

    Ahh Jade.

The finances do count. so for every quit upside there's lots of downsides! If you can't take it anymore I'm sure you will start a "find new work" project. But, in today's climate? Not sure if I would go about officially quitting first.

Then again there's freedom to be found after you decide to quit—even if you don't tell anyone that that you did :-) (don't you young puppies call that quiet quitting or something?)

All of a sudden your responses to people acquire much sharper boundaries and they can either deal with the unexpected new boundaries… or go pound sand — assuming you've already moved on even if you haven't announced it!

@Athijade , so sorry. (Somehow did not see your post when I was here earlier.)

No words of advice, just deep empathy and hope you find a way through soon. ♡

So that job I wanted but didn't take due to money... The office manager (person doing the hiring) contacted me late Tuesday, asking me to reach out to her. I did early yesterday. Turns out, candidates they actually want, like me apparently, aren't willing to give up the money, so I could do a lateral transfer (not take a 5% base pay cut) and they have been approved on a special case to allow the RNPlus that gives me the 20% bump to base pay with declined benefits like health insurance. I am meeting with her Monday morning and if the vibe is right, I'm taking the job.

Wish me luck, because my night owl self would potentially be going from night shift to that 7:30-3:30 5 day/week life.

Hmmmm -the health insurance thing? Hopefully you have other coverage options. Unlike the rest of the civilized world, the US ties health insurance to jobs. Lose the job, lose the insurance. And often you lose your own coverage along with optional but paid coverage for eligible family members.

Starting today pretty well - weigh in day, was 219.7! (I know, very close to 220, but I'll take the extra 0.3. Nice to see a 1 in the second spot - can't wait until it's in the first spot!)

Went to the gym - 2.5miles on the treadmill, 5 miles on the bike, leg and ab workout. Now, just starting work. Unfortunately, I have to work the weekend as well, so it will be 12 days of work in a row before I get a day off!

Oh well, I have vacation starting on 8/25 to look forward to.

Vacations- twin edged sword there. Great for the rest and relaxation. Not so great with the going out to eat. I leave for a ten day cruise on the 27th. I’m going to avoid the buffet and stick with sit down meals in the dining rooms because at least the chef exercises some portion control.

    Awesome news @rms62003 !

    The ones are fun 😊

Yooly!😎 That's definitely a smart setup. Is this your east coast to Halifax or where are we heading young lady!

I admit to being surprised hearing Nic turn down health insurance from a hospital plan where my dumb assumption is that it would be better than average! Must mean that hubby has awesome sauce insurance I bet!

I've always had health insurance through my husband, which allows me to take the position that pays more

Super you have coverage through hubby Nic! I fortunately am old enough for Medicare, have supplemental retirement coverage and coverage as a retired military spouse.

So three insurances - which was wonderful considering my current annual medical expenses are already topping $300,000! Four months yet to go this year. But I have had no out of pocket payments for treatment or meds.

I don’t know how the uninsured or underinsured manage. Like in Nic’s case. She can work in the hospital but they won’t provide coverage to their own employees. You can work there but heaven forbid you might get sick and need to use their hospital services! Craziness!

The hospital will provide coverage. I work as RNPlus for a 20% bump to my base pay and decline coverage. It's a conscious choice, since I didn't need their insurance.

Nic - glad to hear you’re at least eligible for coverage and can voluntarily decline! So many places - including medical facilities here- don’t offer insurance as an employee benefit. It just shouldn’t be that way….

I agree. Health insurance should be universal anyway. The United State is the only so called first world country that ties Healthcare funding to employment.

So, after meeting with the office manager of the Neurospine practice today, I have accepted the new position. They made some things happen and I will earn the same hourly pay I do now, minus the night shift differential, which I understood when I applied. It will be 40hrs per week, M-F 0730-1530. Big change from my current schedule. Once some formalities are attended to, I will put in my 30 day notice for my current position, so I would anticipate starting my new gig around September 22nd.

Woohoo Nic! It will be an adjustment getting used to the daytime/no weekends schedule. Might be easier regulating menus? I used to do batch cooking on weekends to cut down on the inevitable “too tired” to cook during the week.

An adjustment it will be. Longer term? Maybe good for you to regulate sleep better once you succeed in doing so! Ask me why I bring this up! Nope, it doesn't help to not sleep enough 😔

It also makes me feel very good about myself. They wanted me for the position enough to keep working even after I declined and get some exceptions approved to make it work

They’re lucky to get you Nic! And obviously they know a good thing when they see it. Congratulations 🎈

Hey all. I disappeared again. Got super sick this weekend. Think my body just gave out from all the stress that it has been under. Almost went to the ER Saturday night, but ended up falling asleep instead lol. Maybe not the BEST way to handle things, but it is what it is. Took yesterday off from work, but was also finally able to eat something and keep it down. So progress.

The job thing… I had been job hunting and thought I had a good chance at a position but they ended up ghosting me after 3 interviews and sending in my references. Kinda peeved off about that. I need to start doing applications again though. Right now I want to stay where I am though through like October due to PTO needs.

Oh, and I am already "quiet quitting" or dealing with burnout at this job. I work my 40 hours and that is it. I do what I have to do, keep up as best I can, but I don't push myself too hard because it is going to kill me if I do.

    Ah 'Jade! Keep at it!

I'll tell ya one thing…. if falling asleep fixed it even partially… that's MUCH MUCH MUCH better than spending the evening or night waiting to be seen in a weekend lineup at the ER!
