Gym this morning. Physical therapy this afternoon- frozen rotator cuff. Hopefully it’s only for a month or so. Not much happening so far……

yeah well - aging is a long series of patching things up. Ignore it and it never improves. So I’m trying to stay on top of the nuisances. Otherwise I’m doing well!

I had a job interview. Which means I had to scramble yesterday after work for interview clothes, lol. Old Navy ftw. I got offered the job, but won't be taking it. Two more interviews last week of similar ilk (office nursing jobs vs hospital).

Sorry the job didn’t work out. Not a good fit? Keep trying - even if the whole interview process sucks.

I can remember grams crawling the wall with her hand after a shoulder injury, her PT seemed to help - hope yours helps quickly!

”I can remember grams crawling the wall with her hand after a shoulder injury, her PT seemed to help - hope yours helps quickly!”

My rotator cuff trouble isn’t from an injury and not horribly painful. I have lost mobility in that arm over time. Left one works fine - right side not so much. Just a slow freezing up that is getting worse so I’m giving therapy a try. The massage part is really nice! The strength training 😤

    You will do it! 👍🏼

🤷🏼‍♀️ Soon shrugging and moving even more than that!

Not so sure about recovery of shoulder mobility. Lots of crunching, popping and grinding noises in there. Loud enough for the therapist to hear 👂 . I fear this may be more orthopedic than simple muscle atrophy. And OWWWW!

Had my first visit with the NP who will be helping with my weight loss goals on the more physical side of things. I already see someone in the same practice for the mental health portion. So this will be more like the diet and exercise, metabolic issues, and the like. We did talk about GLP-1 medications. She has seen a lot of success with clients on them, but is very open about side effects and the fact we don't know what the long term looks like. Which I appreciate. I told her I would like to do more research on them before we meet again and she supported that 100%.

She gave me a couple things she wants me to focus on (drink more water, watch portions, and log my food in general (not calories if I don't want to yet)) and gave me some general dietary information about portions, healthier options, and how to drink more water.

More water is the idea to help you feel more full? Or to occupy you or distract you when you want something (i.e. drink a glass of water instead of chomping on the choco bar)? Or is it literally to keep you sufficiently hydrated?

To stay hydrated. I don't drink nearly enough water. Right now I am at like 24 oz on the day which is not great. So that reminds me once I post this that I need to fill up the water cup again!

I had another job interview today, one more aligned with my knowledge base and what I like. It went great, very professional, met with the office manager and the head nurse. I am going to go shadow one of their nurses for a couple hours Thursday morning after work. I am thinking that if the money works out, I am going to give this one a shot.

Sounds exciting!!! Is this all a super duper upgrade because of your coursework or you just figured it was time for a change since you didn't have enough on your plate! Or did you just decide you want to sleep at night? :)

Pav it's actually because I was pissed at my charge nurse and rage applied to like 8 jobs. I was offered my first interview within 10hrs of applying, the second within 16hrs and the third Monday morning (applied 11pmish Wednesday night). If the shadowing goes well Thursday, I'm going to cancel my Friday interview. Then comes HR talks about pay/benefits, etc

This sounds promising… and I'm assuming that if they will invest so much time to interview etc that they won't be planning to play too many salary games!?

🤞sometimes it’s the medical benefits over salary here!

That is awesome Nic! Fingers crossed it works out and will be a good option.

So I did a lot of research on GLP1s and diet yesterday. Like, I am hyper focused lol. It's bad because I can't switch that focus to work when I have so much to do. Anyway, it looks like Protein, hydration, and Fiber are the biggest things for diet. Common side effects include nausea, fatigue, and digestive issues. So I have been looking into things to help with the protein intake especially. A lot of protein supplement type things I can't have due to them having artificial sweeteners or Stevia.

It's technically a transfer within the hospital system, so no salary games. If switch some stuff, pay is about the same, minus the night shift differential, but I'd go to 120hrs of vacation vs 72 and paid holidays

So any offers Nic? Paid time off is major. Hope there are paid sick days too!

Night shift pays better but it's harder on the body soooooooo..... sounds like it could be a good move for you!

And if you really hate the charge nurse we can always give you a colder home with more hockey and less money! Actually I suspect you can get more major hockey within driving distance where you are!😎

Sounds like a healthy pursuit Nic. Glad you have some options to switch out.

Athi - thx for the info, appreciated.

No official offer yet but they were clear it's mine if I want it after shadowing tomorrow. The plan is to shadow, then talk with HR.

One minor problem is with school, I have to shadow someone in a leadership position for 40hrs to graduate, which may be tricky if I am working 5 days a week instead of 3 nights.
