eeeeeeeeeeeeeek! Baaaaaaaaaaaarffffffffffffffffffffffff!0 -
Now, now Folgers isn’t that bad. Let’s not be coffee snobs. I drink my coffee black so like to experiment with different blends. Gives us old retired people breakfast entertainment. And it has no calories! ☕️👍2

I have a new friend who has lured me back to the world of coffee (been ??? 25 years or so with no coffee)...he is really tickled with having discovered Lavazza - and one sale - and now has ??? 20? 30? pounds in his freezer - the only thing in his freezer...lol
I get a perfect machiatto (? sp) made with oat milk a couple times a week and the girl gets liver treats when we stop by to visit during our eastward walks. Nice meeting people on your walking route who are good people who make you special drinks!3 -
Black since half way through first year on MFP.
Starting point was three cream three sugar!!!
Now? I literally (true story!) inadvertently spat out in the restaurant to my very great embarrassment my first sip of a "regular" Tim coffee I was given by mistake.
"Regular" is ONE cream and ONE sugar, not a double double!
Folgers qualifies, almost, as a regular 🙀😹😘
Yes, I make my 60g of grounds pot of coffee every day (unless overridden by circumstances) and I want it good! 😘
And I have a 24oz Yeti for when I have to go out before my pot is done ❣️😹3 -
Black coffee since I was 18. Of course back then it was enjoyed with several cigarettes. It was the 60s so that was pretty tame for the time. Gave up the smokes long ago but stayed with the coffee.1

I have...challenges...with coffee. I'm a bit of a snob, but not in the sense of brand loyalty or expense. It's really...whatever doesn't taste like an ashtray to me on any given day. Unfortunately, Folgers ALWAYS tastes that way to me. Tim's home-brew coffee sometimes does (yes, we have them in parts of NY!) - but if they make it, it's more the inconsistency of their preparation that causes me issues.
Certain roasts and bean types have a higher chance of hitting the trash before I finish a package (or being rotated out for a few weeks to let my taste buds change their fickle minds...). That said, I've only ever been able to drink a couple of brands without at least creamer, if not also Splenda or skinny mixes syrups. It's worth the calories to me to have ONE awesome big cup of coffee. 🤣
**The weird android app issues continue... Aside from my hearts changing color upon posting, it wouldn't let me type anymore here, had to force-close the whole app....**3 -
and they keep insisting I upgrade the android app! forced me to do it after I had checked out of the bug race for 2 years and now we're back at it!3

I saw the endocrinologist today, gave up five tubes of blood, and am cleared to start diet and exercise again.
So I've reset the calories to a pound and a half a week, and we'll see how I do in the slightly-over-a-month till I see the plastic surgery people for the initial consultation.7 -
Happy that you’re doing so well Alexandra. Hope the restart of diet and exercise goes smoothly too!2
-
I like the flavored sugar free creamers and on packet of sweet n low….I never drank coffee until my early 40s and then only one cup each morning….now I drink one in the morning and one after dinner…..I like Diet Pepsi more!2
-
Congratulations, Alexandra!!!!!2

Good going there Alexandra. What's a vial or two between friends!1

So far today is good on the eating front, though I am having a lot of deep soreness where they took the goiter out. I'd planned to do prep work tonight but apart from starting the crockpot with a pork shoulder in it for pulled pork, it's not going to happen. I am tired and sore. Lots of tea and books tonight, I think.7

Today is one of those days I wish I could drink the coffee you all talk about.
Rough night. Woke up at like 4am and could NOT go back to sleep.
Also found out yesterday that my car will NOT be ready on the 15th like I was told. They are still waiting on a couple of parts which should hopefully be there today. But then they have to get it up on the rack (and they only have one of the kind they need) to do the fix. My rental is over on the 18th. So I am going to have to pay out of pocket for the difference. Luckily they will give me the Geico rate so that should save me quite a bit of money. I can afford it. It's just my budget is about to get a lot tighter due to my rent going up and I am going to not be able to put as much into savings each month.
It just feels like one thing after another.
Sorry to be a downer... just not in a great place mentally.7 -
Feeling better today, which is good as I have a lot of prep work to do.4

I have never had a cup of coffee in my life. But I will admit I start my day with a can of Diet Dr. Pepper!3
-
So strange. My experience is exactly the opposite. No cola or soda drinks ever before noon. Just couldn’t start the day with cold sodas. Never was a big soda drinker anyway and haven’t had one in many, many years. The artificial sweeteners just began causing gut issues. So it’s pretty much black coffee, teas, or water for me.3
-
I love to read about our differences.
I rarely drink pop (soda) - maybe a can of Diet Pepsi on a really hot summer afternoon, but even then I'd be more likely to just drink cold water. It would never enter my head to drink pop at any other time of the day/season/year. On a daily basis I drink 5 or 6 glasses of water, three or four mugs of strong tea with a dash of milk, one or two very strong double espressos with half a teaspoon of sugar, and one or two horrid mugs of weak instant coffee with a dash of milk (purely for convenience).
I've noticed that hot drink avoidance seems to be an under-40 phenomenon in England....I don't know anyone over 40 who drinks purely cold drinks. I don't know anyone over 60 who drinks pop regularly.4 -
After a rough day yesterday I ended up ordering food in. Positive is I ordered pretty much exactly what I was going to make (yellow thai curry with chicken). Negative I also ordered crab rangoon... and ate all 5.
Yet somehow I am down another pound as of this morning.
Went to the flower and patio show this morning with my aunt. Had a lot of fun, got some ideas if I ever get to buy a house, and am now home again. It's cold so I plan on curling up on the couch with the cats and all the blankets.5 -
Nice to have a relaxing day. Beware of the purring cats who claw❣️😹
When you consider how long it takes for everything to be processed in the human factory, it is sometimes difficult to isolate individual events and their final effects on weight. There's also sometimes a day or two delay both going up AND going down.
You know I'm going to mention weight trend.... you just know it!😉5 -
I have not made great choices food-wise today, but am feeling relaxed and happy, so there's that! And I got my hair cut, and my stylist hadn't seen me in a few months and was very complimentary (and I actually liked how I looked in the mirror!) so that kinda feeds me--I will get back on track! Gotta dump off the husband at the airport for a trip to visit his mother, and then a few days to myself. He has been in such a mood today. Proud of myself for being able to keep the perspective that his mood is not my problem!6

Sorry husband has been a crankypants. Mine gets that way when he’s stressed. Certainly airline travel and visiting with elderly parent could be stressful! Enjoy your alone time Jennifer.3
-
I was crankypants today and I'm no-one's husband, so there you go! But I went for a nice (8.5mi/13.6+km) walk and I'm now happier!6

Well it’s good that you can self-identify as a crankypantser. TRUE crankypantsers do not see that they are cranky. Rather they tend to blame everyone around them for “making” them craba$$es.
Good to know that you were able to remedy the problem.6 -
The taramosalata that was mentioned in the other thread sparked a memory from my past, from my first year at university.
I vowed to go home at the end of my first year slim and fit (thus proving that my mom was the one really to blame for my obesity because of her sub-optimal catering!)
Inspired by Susie Orbach's Fat Is A Feminist Issue, I determined to eat intuitively, with an emphasis on unprocessed, vegetarian, natural foods. I became obsessive about making food from scratch, so every morning before class I got up at the crack of dawn to make a granary loaf and a batch of fresh pasta. Every sunday I made a kilo of houmous and a big pan of pesto.
My house-share was the other side of the city from the University, in an area with a large Turkish and Greek community. Literally next door there was an amazing (and dirt cheap) delicatessen, which sold freshly made taramosalata, tahini and the most amazing green, peppery olive oil. I bought a kilo of taramosalata every week, and took my 500ml olive oil bottle and my tahini jar to be refilled about once a fortnight.
Oh, and to be extra-healthy, I drank a two litre carton of orange juice every day. No water/tea/coffee etc....just orange juice.
Breakfast was bread and organic peanut butter. Lunch was bread and either taramosalata or houmous. Dinner was invariably pasta with pesto. All washed down with OJ.
At the end of the first year, I'd gained 30kg (66lbs), despite cycling over 4000kms between home and campus.
Mom wasn't impressed.3 -
Maybe heavier - but so well nourished!2
-
Oh the days Garfield!
And it's not as if I didn't know WHAT a calorie was, I had even found mom's little calorie count booklet format tables back in high school.
But healthy, right?
So for years I drank regular not diet Coke to avoid aspartame! And to counterbalance the bad saturated fats I liberally added olive oil to salad and veggies and anywhere else! And, of course, I said no to crappy white bread (which I like but not so much that I would eat a whole loaf) and chose healthy rye loafs from Costco (or baguettes). Take a guess as to whether even the rye would make it to the second day! (Baguettes are obviously single serve--that's well known😉)
Yup. Dog walks did not help me control my weight! 😹😹😹2 -
Today I caught up on rice, so I now have 9 2 ounce packages of rice pilaf and 8 2 ounce packages and 4 4 ounce packages of white rice in the freezer. I am not tempted to put too much rice in my bowl if it's premeasured, and more would mean getting out another packet. I noticed that it worked for me on chips, and it works on the rice.4

B-b-b-but they said the Mediterranean diet was healthy! 😆😆😆
I learned that year that you definitely can’t outrun (or out-cycle) your fork! 🚴🐷🚴🐷3
