I am legit staying away from the scale for a few days. And I’m eating in a *large deficit, but have chosen not to exercise for a few days.
Taking it easy. Maybe I’ll just slide over that line and not even notice ….
*Stats: 5’8” 203.5 lbs, eating just under 1300 calories a day. Most days, occasionally going over by a hundred ish.
Mostly good, nutritious stuff.
Not weighing everything. More likely to be going over by a bit.
TDEE or whatever it’s called is unusually low due to disability. I generally get about 600 non-exercise steps a day. So the 1300 a day isn’t quite as low as it looks. Weight loss is averaging about 1.75 a week.2 -

we have 5 total. the guardians, there. a german shepherd, a jack russell (part demon, ill never have another one), and an english setter puppy. we have HAD up to 7 or maybe 8 (temporarily). 2 cats that i wish we didnt have and im just waiting for their time on earth to be over. *kitten* cat finally died, he was close to 18 probably. satans minion, that one. all the cats were my ex's that i took in when he died. it was that or a kill shelter. sometimes i doubt my decision.... In an IC flare the last couple of days. Hoping it is food based because those are short lived. But the pain today is just horrible. It wears on my mental health.
If you can send healing thoughts, that would be great.
Gotta work this morning though. Mondays are my busy days.8 -
Healing thoughts coming your way @Athijade. Hope the pain lessens quickly.3

Feel better soon!3

Ouch - you have my sympathies! Healing vibes heading your way! Drink plenty of water! And chamomile tea can be helpful...4

Not a whine!
The exact opposite.
But most of the day sure felt like a whine.
See. We have a hundred year old house. Which means problems.
It’s a hundred year old house built by a squatter. 😂😂😂🤪
So. It was built very quickly. And has some serious quirks. To put it mildly.
The kitchen sink has been touchy ever since we’ve owned the place. Which is a few decades. And the iron pipes are old…. And they clog if you look at them funny.
Last night my partner informed me he thought the pipes were permanently clogged. And leaking. At the same time.
He had been trying to unclog the system for days.
Anxious. I thought for sure it was jackhammer time. Take-Out-A-Second-Mortgage time.
But I did the grown up thing and called a plumber this morning. And somehow they were able to come out right away. Even though I said it wasn’t an emergency. (I mean ya, the sink was useless. But…. We were managing fine)
A couple hours work. A few parts. A sawed off old iron pipe, and a new clean out valve.
$500. Which I am fortunately able to afford because I JUST paid off all the credit cards last week (not a huge deal. I don’t generally like to carry a big balance)
My Partner stayed home and supervised. They weren’t done until about six. And I was running errands with my husband and our roommate. So I picked up some lovely restaurant stuff for the menfolk, and had a gluten free egg salad sandwich from the same deli.
ALL DAY I was trepidatious. That sinking feeling. Doom and Gloom. Bad Things Expected.
But instead? It just looked like a better set of pipes under the sink.
And the menfolk ate spinach with strawberries, and a barbecue chicken leg. My husband even got a beer.
And I have been …. On track. Zero emotional face stuffing. All macros accounted for.
And only ONE ice cream cup. Even though I just bought six full bags! (big sale)5 -
well that's a win! Including the fact that you didn't just get "shark grip" clamps and plastic hoses to replace the old metal pipes!4

Been there done that. (OK not exactly that…)
The whole house is …. Well…. Let’s just say “eccentric” and leave it at that.
But we love her. And she is beautiful. Tiny. And beautiful.4 -
What a relief! And no more clogs no matter how you look.1

I'm jealous of you for having a house like that. It may be more work, but I would love to have an "eccentric" house. My undergrad degree is in Interior Design and I just love architecture. I hate cookie cutter homes!
My pain levels seem to be better today. I slept better for sure at least. So fingers crossed that whatever caused this flare is calming the heck down.4 -
I'm working hard and keep having to remember that I have exercise intolerance, and if it starts to get heavy or tingle I have to stop right now. I do not like having exercise intolerance. Stupid fibro.4

The effing coffee machine is spewing more water from underneath the machine than on the coffee grounds!
I mean I could survive the next 3 days if it was at least 50/50, but we're talking 90% out and barely 10% into making 2/3 of a single cup while flooding the whole kitchen to the tune of two beach (not bath) towels.
At least the kitchen counter got it's yearly cleaning whether it needed it or not, and I can see parts of the floor too! 😇
A coffee less PAV is not something you want to encounter 🤯6 -

my goal was to not leave the house today.
the fact we used the last bit of coffee this morning determined that was a lie.2 -
We bought a new coffee maker last week!….3

I am traumatized and this is less than two years old and should be under warranty and/or under credit card warranty and of course there exists no receipt and of course I will just end up buying another
**these coffee and monetary traumatized hamsters are not quite up to the level of hamsters traumatized in actual traumatic experiences. emergency coffee in the form of "OMG" instant does exist in the house and McDonald's (with many free medium coffee coupons) is in the same large city block as my house and according to google a 400m walk away. Starbucks is in the mall across the street past that at 500m according to google. Going there would, of course, involve braving exposure to the big light bulb in the sky which is like: scary!
Furthermore, I've been reliably informed that heading in the direction of these stores while the bulb is shinning is not appreciated by canines that have to be restrained during such hours given that it seriously reduces their snacking opportunities!5 -
i remember some time back we lost power (it actually happens a fair bit where we are) but this one time, in particular it had gone out in the middle of the night. it was before we were married, and before hubby had even moved to the states, so it was on one of his weekends down.
he had gotten up before me, and right as I was starting to wake up, he came in and goes ' dont get up. the powers out. I'm going to go find you coffee'
That was the moment when I knew that his man understood what the priorities were and how things would have to be for the rest of his life.
And that is how we have a happy marriage.
LMAO

Since for some reason I sympathize with your poor fellow Canuck hubby (zing! ), I will save him!
A 1500VA UPS should be able to reliably brew a pot or two during a blackout! I suggest a beafier UPS because of the high initial load the heating of the water will place on it; but you can certainly play the "try before you buy" game and check out some less expensive units on the way up to the final one!2 -

we have a generator now. Just a small one. But it will run a coffee pot, phone chargers, and a fan or space heater (depending on season LOL)

I never drank coffee until I was in my 30s….now I drink one cup in the morning and one after dinner….
a new Mr. Coffee was only $29 at Walmart….no bells or whistles!…..and it’s red!2 -

ive been drinking coffee literally since i was a child. even though back then it was more milk than coffee LOL
i log 4 cups, but its really 2 that fit in my travel mug. just like my creamer is way over logged. but it does cover if i DO have more. its rare I do but sometimes. and i figure helps cover logging errors elsewhere....my creamer is my one absolute non negotiable calorie indulgence. it comes before anything else. always has, always will LOL3 -

That's what I say about my MIL - she did a great job with both her boys. She raised them to be kind, loving, patient and thoughtful men. Both hardworking homebodies, who love their home and family and don't have roving eyes. Both supportive and generous-spirited. They both buy and beautifully wrap lovely, thoughtful gifts for all their loved ones, without prompting or without delegating the task to their spouse. Both will stoically traipse around shopping malls and sit outside changing rooms for hours, saying 'Yes, it looks lovely but I preferred the red one seventeen dresses back....'
When you come across a man like that you have to snap him up quick and hang onto him tight. And thank the woman who raised him to be such a wonderful husband. I've been with mine 32 years now and appreciate him more every day.6
