I have callouses on my palms (just below my fingers) from lifting weights and have to wear a silicone ring when I do upper body because my wedding/engagement rings pinch the heck out of me.

I used to have pretty calloused hands from landscaping....been living the soft life lately - just checked and there are NO callouses :)

I tried on size XL shorts at the store today, not shorts from the plus size section, and they fit. I didn't buy them because I need to reconcile myself to the fact that the regular shorts are shorter than the plus size shorts. But they did fit. I did go ahead and buy two size 1X tank tops to replace my 3x short sleeve workout tops. By the time it cools down here in Alabama, so about november, I should also be able to buy my tops in the regular and not plus size section. My tops are almost always a size up from my bottoms.

My tops also need to be a size larger than the bottoms. So usually no dresses for me. I found Goodwill to be a great resource for cheap interim clothes. Lots of gym wear that’s not been used much!

So I know I mentioned I could just fit into XL in athletic shorts.

Well I bought some non-athletic shorts today. Size 0x which is a 14W. Not quite there for a regular 14, in part because I hate tight clothing. I need some shorts for our family trip to Edmonton in just under 5 weeks.

The difference between OX and regular 14 is not all that big depending on the style. Try to concentrate on the fit rather than numbers. I have clothes now that range from medium, large and extra large.

Some things still fit better in plus - like jackets that need room for heavier sweaters or sweats. It’s the curse of excess boobage. I hate tight clothes too.

Tight clothes always make me feel SOOO FAT! Take off tight pants, put on loose pants and suddenly I feel thin :)

Oh not even pretending to be thin! Trying to look semi presentable and able to breathe comfortably in my clothes. Fashion be damned….

I think those things are aligned with "feeling thin" in my mind, Yooly.

It was Bermuda shorts and pull on linen blend shorts. I feel like I definitely could have gone regular 14 the pull ons, however, another reason to stick with the 14w vs 14 for now is length. I like longer shorts, at a bare minimum past mid thigh and even to top of knee is okay. Plus sized clothing fits longer.

My 18yo daughter has the same brand and style of athletic shorts that I wear, but hers are either a small or a medium. They are much shorter on her than my 2x were on me when I first got them and they fit right. Heck, even the XL I tried on we're longer than those, but definitely shorter than the plus sized.

So tonight we're going for dinner and it turns out to be slightly fancier than I planned for, so I borrowed an XL neck tshirt from my sister and it fits with room to spare without being too big. It's perfect. She's so excited for me.

Oh I so understand this! Almost my entire life I couldn’t hope to borrow a sweater or shirt from anyone. I dreaded losing luggage on vacation because replacements were not easy to find. Specialty stores aren’t handy especially in foreign countries. Not even Walmart is everywhere.

Now I can go to any store. My sister lent me a sweatshirt when I got cold while visiting Ohio. I can offer a sweater to a friend without embarrassment that it would be ridiculously enormous on her.

So today while in the airport, returning from my trip, I attempted to switch my rolling carryon suitcase (with my heavy backpack attached on top, to the handle) from my right side to my left, while going up a ramp. This was foolish and I tripped myself up. Instead of eating it completely, I caught myself on one hand and never fell all the way down. Pushed myself up and embarrassedly kept walking, lol.

This was made possible by much lower bodyweight and better athleticism/strength at my current weight.

Glad you’re okay Nic! There is some truth in the old saying “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.” Less weight, stronger body = less damage. Well except for the mild embarrassment…..

Wow your vacation seems to have gone by in a flash. Hope you had a wonderful time even with the awful fires in Jasper.

Anyone wanna guess what size scrubs I bought today? (well, ordered, they didn't have the color I needed)?

    Large!!!

Tops and bottoms. And I must have tried on a dozen different kinds and they all fit in a large. Now I did have to reject most of them just because apparently I'm carrying more of my weight from my knees to about 2/3 of the way down my calves so those pants were all tight there but they all fit in the waist and hips and butt.

And then I went to kohls and bought medium shorts and large or xl tshirts depending on style and fit. I am about to eliminate "plus" sized clothing entirely from my wardrobe.

Careful girl! There’s so much more selection in misses sizes. Have you looked in junior sizes or the boys department? Surprisingly L and XL women can fit into boys wear too. The whole store can be your wonderland!

Well that's awesome new Nic! And wow on the new options!

The only down side I have for you, at least based on my n=1, is that (I guess the exception would be if you're a competitive cyclist or something), regardless of how awesome your hamstrings are (and at a higher weight we develop some pretty awesome hamstrings), regardless of how awesome they are at a lower weight they will eventually come down in size without the constant weight pounding on them.

On the positive side I've caught myself BEFORE falling sooooooo many times these past few years and because of my lighter weight my much smaller hamstrings were still able to keep me from stumbling even though half my foot was not fully on the stair. And they did so way way better and easier than my much bigger hamstrings could handle my former weight.

    So there's that.

Fat distribution (and skin) changes will continue for a good one to two years post major weight loss based on collected anecdotal evidence :).

I bought cutoffs yesterday, or as the kids are calling them, jorts, lol. Size 12. Also a men's medium flannel shirt and a men's medium Metallica t-shirt.

Look at you !!!! Just an amazing transformation. How are you adjusting?

I still have some body dysmorphia after several years.

I feel like I'm doing pretty good. Clothing choices are a little overwhelming. I actually had to go buy pants tonight because it's gonna be 68, drizzly and windy tomorrow and I legit had 12 pairs to try on, all of which fit, so I had to pick. And I didn't even grab any slim/skinny jeans, just straight/loose/wide leg, etc.

I am definitely going to need skin removal surgery. Lower abdomen, my arms and it's looking like my thighs too. I plan to give it 12 months after I stop the weight loss portion to see what is what, then do it.

Another NSV, you can see the muscle in my shoulder/bicep area, but boy is there a ton of extra skin. It actually sags down over my elbows when my arms hang loose at my side.

Nice muscle! Got the saggy skin thing going on too. But mine is a combo of aging and weight loss. I’m way too old to consider surgery so I do creative wardrobe cover. Usually pretty successful. Or I just let it all hang out when it’s miserably hot.

Do give the saggy skin plenty of time Nic. You’ve lost weight fairly fast but you’re young still. Maybe after a good stretch of holding maintenance weight. After five years even I’m seeing some sag disappear.

I don't think I have the patience for 5 years. I already feel like I'm wearing a skin suit, though my belly is better than my arms.

I bought Levi's yesterday. 31 waist, which I tried on in store, and grabbed the 30 waist as well. Tried them on at home today. The 31s are going back. The 30s fit snugly and honestly, I'm a month out from having to wear jeans much. But they were $14.99! Clearance rack at discount retailer, lol.

Oh Nic! You’re now in the average sizes where bargains abound. The hard part was not to overinvest in clothes I would shrink out of soon. Stuff you may only use once or twice but bought because it was such a deal.
