Non Scale Victories

Here's a thread for those little (or big) moments that don't include the number on the scale. I'm sure there are times when you think nothing is happening, or it seems soooo slow but then you have a moment when you realise something has changed.
Mine yesterday was not giving in to a stressful day by over eating or drinking. The other day I realised my favourite cardigans were 3 sizes too big.

Yesterday I was able to wear some jeans that haven't fit for about ten years. I was at this size for several years back then, so I suddenly have 5 pairs of pants that fit great now.10

This thread made me think to try on my shirts again. I now fit the rest of my 3xl shirts (the ones that ran smaller) as well as a few of my larger running 2x ones. In total I just gained 8-9 "new" shirts to wear10

Brilliant! I love it when tight clothes suddenly fit, I have a wardrobe in waiting.

same! I have clothes to bring me all the way down to M shirts and size 36 pants. I'll get there someday.3

My wife and I scheduled a relaxing day of playing game and just taking it easy. It seemed extremely unnatural to me. I wanted to be up doing things and moving. My efforts to shed the habits of a weight gainer and adopt the habits of a weight loser/maintainer seem to be working. We still took it easy but I am glad I wasn't totally comfortable with it.5

I bought some new clothes for the upcoming school year (teacher) and fit into 2x dresses and jackets. At that store, I’m used to being a 3x top and a 4x jacket.11

Fantastic results everyone, loving hearing about them.1

@quemalosuerte that's awesome! and if gets cold where you live, the larger items can be used as layers

I might be crazy but I swear my head is getting smaller. My fitted hats are looser.2

I thought your head was getting bigger from all the step goals you were hitting.
But seriously your hat size can decrease with weight loss. Mine hasn't yet to any appreciable degree and maybe it won't but other people have reported this to happen. My fat was, and is, so poorly distributed it is unreal. The benefit of that may be that most of my loose skin will tighten on its own everywhere but my abdomen.0 -
As of today I'm considering myself officially down to a 2xl shirt size... now that I have 5-6 shirts in that size that fit.
When I first started losing weight, I had some 4xl shirts that fit and some that were tight around the stomach, so that puts me right at -2 sizes, since I'm in the same spot with 2xl right now.
I've been losing some inches around my waist the last few weeks8 -

Very early 90's.
Congrats @merph518. That is quite an achievement. Your shopping options have increased dramatically.

Thanks guys!
Yeah, to be able to buy shirts in normal stores is pretty foreign to me. It's been about 10 years for me. Still have a ways to go before I'm free of the big and tall section for pants though... I don't care for wearing my pants below my stomach.2 -

I am down to a 2xl pants but still stuck in a 4xlt shirt. I could probably wear a 3xl shirt now but I can't find them long enough to cover my belly so I am running pretty baggy.0 -
I realised today that I now fit into my office chair without my fat thighs overhanging the edge of the seat.
Next target is cinema seating!7 -

A big one for me was booths at restaurants, I havent been to the theater since losing some weight though. I am curious now.1 -
I haven't been in a theater yet either. I don't think I have seen a movie like that in 5 years. There is a place I would go that was further away but it had arm rests that would come up so I could see movies there. I wanted to go see Shazam but I got busy and before I knew it my window of opportunity passed.0

One thing I'm looking forward to particularly is fitting better on rides at amusement parks.2
-
Disney last year (first time there) was part of the motivation that got me started losing weight. I was absolutely miserable there due to the heat and all the walking around, being right around my January start weight I'm sure.
I remember the Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs minecart ride being particularly painful when I was jammed in there.0 -
I believe I was at around 400 when I was borderline at Disney. I was able to fit uncomfortably in most things I tried to ride.
@jjlewey you could try Dollywood when you come through.
Ya we wont be in Pigeon Forge area long enough for Dollywood. We will probably hit up downtown Gatlinburg and maybe the Island. I am thinking the skybridge looks fun.
The last time I was at Cedar Point, circa Y2K, I was probably somewhere between 275 and 300 pounds and fit on everything fine. That is still a long way down the road.0 -
I can't do theme parks, I'm a coward lol
Restaurant booths I'm just about OK with now though.1 -
BOOTS! Last year, my knee-high boots fit but were tight. Fall isn't *quite* here, but I thought I'd do a spot check. Boy, do them babies fit so much better now! So I'm super excited to wear my boots this fall! Also, turns out, one pair was *over* the knee boots and I just never knew it cause I couldn't squeeze them that far up my leg. I was pretty evenly plump all over, and the one place I wanted to lose weight is the one place where it's the last to go: my legs. I hope when I reach my goal that I will be happy with my overall shape, but for now. Being able to wear my boots comfortably is amaaaahhhhhzinnngggg.5

Much like @dhiammarath (and others on LL) I like data.
So my NSV is data related.
In Jan2019 my A1C was 6.3 and in Aug2019 it is 5.8! For reference, 5.7 is the high end of "normal" so I am stoked that it returning to a more normal range.7 -
@hansep0012 That's awesome! Congrats!0
-
@dhiammarath thank you!
NSVs really help me remember that being healthy has many components.
It was also interesting to me to summon up a conversation with my doctor about having the blood work done and explaining my data needs, lol. She grinned at me and said it was an excellent idea. And here I was dreading having to convince and plead to get it done.3 -

lol. I might have to plead not be tested but never to be tested. If I were to see my doctor at a restaurant he would probably ask for a blood sample to test how my fish course impacted my omega-3 levels.1
