@AustinRuadhain I continue to have multiple issues with Fitrockr. Perhaps the same thing is happening with @leonadixon??? I disappeared from the Slimpossibles league tonight. Finally after logging in and out several times it came back. 🤷🏼♀️0

Checking in.....here it is...an official check in!!!!
WW points good (tracked everything)
Water 80 oz
Exercise 12,000+ steps today
Goals for the next few days...
1. Make a workout plan
2. Preplan and pre-track some meals
@TeresaW1020 you have inspired me. Thank you for the push that I needed. I got back on my WW app!! Looking forward to spending my wellness wins in a few days. I had been saving for the wireless speaker and was so close before I stopped using the app.3 -

@sunshineplace
Hurray for your great day today, and your planning goals for the next few days sound fabulous!
Glad the WW app is helping, too!
FitRockr: 😕 🤔Your issue might have been a momentary glitch? I had seen ten listed but no Leona when I checked in a couple of times today, so pretty sure you were there. (We had 11 last week, including you and Leona. I can see you both in last week's listing.) Let's keep an eye out, but currently you seem fine. 🧩 👀 FitRockr (amazingly enough for a free app) had responsive assistance on the one issue I have reported to them.
@gwamajtw91 - Hurray for that great weigh-in! 👍🏽
@Jactop - I love your strategy with unwanted food gifts! I am stealing that.
"Oh, that looks delicious! Thank you so much! Maybe I'll have one a little later!" (Tucking away nicely for now.) (Does anyone else practice in advance what to say in these situations?)
0 -
@Jactop my parents just got back from Hawaii and gifted me with chocolate covered macadamia candy. My dad's already asking how I like them! I'm scared to open them so I've been leaving them alone. Aside of him no one seems to pay attention to my plate, I agree!
@gwamajtw91 nice loss!
@sunshineplace glad you're feeling inspired, nothing like having some motivation behind everything!
@AustinRuadhain how small of habit changes are we talking? I find it so interesting! My BA is in psychology, I haven't actually studied anything psychological in ages but it's always been an area I'm interested in.0 -

Well, that isn't really surprising considering that I traveled last weekend, had a birthday celebration, and a church potluck. The rest of this month is going to be focusing 100% on my eating right, exercising, and getting the scale to go down!!

I set a goal for the month to get below 180. I'm going in the wrong direction! @AustinRuadhain I'm reading Atomic habits and it's really interesting. I think the next step is to analyze my habits and see what I can do about them.

Feeling a little discouraged. Yesterday was rough. I got super stressed and let it get the best of me and binged. I ended up going over my calories before 1pm. My husband did a great job on helping me after I told him. We went on a 1mile walk with the kids and then he took them home for bed so I could get another mile in. Then when I got home he brought out our workout dice and we did 3 rounds of that. I ended up still being over by about 300 but it was around 500 over before so I guess that's better then nothing. I did hop on the scale this morning to check and I wasn't happy with what I seen. Hopefully I can at least break even when Monday (weigh in day) comes around.4
-
Hey there @TeraBbreakingFree -
So, breakdowns happen, and we all SO sympathize! I hope that whatever the source of the stress is, that today is going better! 👐
Whatever number you saw on the scale this morning -- eating an extra 500 calories is unlikely to cause you lasting weight gain of even 1 pound. The Mayo Clinic states that "3,500 calories equals about 1 pound of fat." For my body, I see very different reactions based on what calories I eat, and you may see variation, too. But still. More likely, you ate something that caused a water retention change.
It looks from here like you did a stack of things right!
1. Stress eating happened. 😥
2. You communicated the breakdown with your husband and partner. 👍🏽
3. You went for a walk with your husband and kids. Calorie burning value aside, this sounds like a stress-relieving activity, and also sounds like you getting back on track for yourself. 👍🏽
4. You checked in here, too! More communication! More accountability! 👍🏽
5. If you went over by 500 calories for the day (before doing extra exercise), then I can only guess that you went back to more normal eating. It certainly sounds like you are likely back on your eating plan today. 👍🏽
Breakdowns happen to everyone, but having it be that you got back on track ASAP after this breakdown means that whatever the number is on Monday, that long-term this is all going to average out, with you reaching your goal. 😊😊😊
TL;DR
Bottom line: With you back on plan and back in action, that stress eating episode yesterday will just be a tiny speed bump in your journey. Be kind to yourself! Learn as much as you can from this, and keep up the great work!4 -
Wow, great job everyone, lots of pounds down here!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Wonderful walking! I know what an achievement it is when the body is finally moving as it should and not giving out.
@nbbaby Definitely sounds like you're struggling with pain, can you get in earlier for the MRI? Bathroom problems with back pain are usually treated as serious, I've had a few friends need surgery right away with similar issues. Not to scare you, just concerned for you. Take good care of yourself!
Thank you.
I'll look in to it. I just hate hospitals and now with that virus the last thing I want to do is go to a hospital with a bunch of sick people. I have really bad lungs and immune system if I get it, I'm dead. But if the bathroom problem gets any worse, I'll do something.
Sharon1 -
@TeraBbreakingFree I'm sorry to hear you had such a tough day. Your husband sounds like a gem! Seems to me you came out well for a rough one, scale could be up from extra food, sodium, or just fluctations so hang in there!
@nbbaby Understandable, sounds like you have a lot going on health-wise and I know for me sometimes I'll put off a health issue because I'm so sick of doctors and new diagnoses. I'm trying to change that! Definitely do something about it if it doesn't improve or get worse, I'd hate for you to be suffering needlessly.

Friday check-in
Calories- under, currently debating on eating more but I'm going out to eat tomorrow and plan to get my usual which is higher calorie than I would've thought so I'm banking calories a bit this week.
Exercise- stair treadmill, weights, body strength, yoga, walking
Water- over. I've mentioned before my dentist told me to lay off all the lemon water I was drinking so I switched to making a ginger "tea" and diluting it in my water bottle. Basically I put a chunk of ginger in my 4 cup Pyrex and microwave it for 11 minutes then put it in the fridge to cool and fill my water bottle up about 1/3 then add water with old ginger chunks in it. It tastes really good! I added a cinnamon stick last night and it's even better. It tastes like weak tea, I refill whenever the bottle's halfway so it keeps the flavor, just an idea for those of you who also don't drink much plain water.

@Katmary71 - Tiny Habits is written by a Stanford behavioral scientist, BJ Fogg. Much of his work has focused on and been used by businesses interested in customer behaviors. Someone came out of one of his Stanford classes and used what they had learned to design Instagram!
The focus is truly tiny things -- tiny baby steps.
One habit I have taken on is that each morning after I press the Start button on our electric kettle to heat up water for coffee, I turn around and do one left and one right inside crescent kick (it's a martial arts move I want to improve), and then I celebrate (for me, V for victory arms in the air; nobody is around to see and it makes me feel happy and shiny inside!).
So I am having a lot of fun playing with designing and creating new habits.
@Cornanda - I also loved Atomic Habits, but am finding the Tiny Habits approach more accessible and more fun. So if you don't get much traction and want to do more with habits, you might give Fogg's book a try. (FYI -- James Clear drew on BJ Fogg's older work, as well as that of some others like Duhigg. So Tiny Habits is the latest, straight from a researcher in the field, and made super accessible.)1 -

Thursday weigh in week 1 (02Mar2020) Saturday catch up
Previous weight: 184.5

Wow - I didn't expect to lose weight on vacation. Maria-centric revelation to follow.
I took the opportunity of the past week's vacation time to not log food on MFP but follow hunger scale and focus on making good choices that align with my goals. I was more than a little surprised and very pleased and encouraged to continue this path. I think that it will be a bit of a back and forth and some mental adjustments to do this thing but the pay off will be the ability to live a sustainable food life with a life/weight balance. That's what I think for me, right now.3 -
@AustinRuadhain I love that you're celebrating your moves! I do that at the gym but usually just when I beat my stairs climbed or previous weight, I need to give myself credit for just doing it! I've been making other small changes but haven't actually celebrated those either, like actually making my bed the last couple months and marching in place when my tea's heating up. I'll have to check him out too!
@digger61 Nice loss! Sounds like a stressful week, I'll be praying for you. Keep us updated, we care about what's going on with you.
@raleighgirl09 You're freaking awesome, how did you manage to lose weight on vacation! It's great you were able to focus on when you were truly hungry and stick with it. I admire the heck out of you for being able to do that.

10,000 steps- ended up doubling it, was close to 20,000 and my brother's goal is to get 10,000 each day for a month so we went for a long walk after dinner
Went out for my Mom's birthday and I ordered off the light menu but then they had split pea and barley soup so I had a cup not that it was high calorie (don't know why I got it, I'm making a similar recipe tomorrow!) then said yes to half a piece of pizza and ate a piece of bread. I AM proud of myself for just having 1 piece! Had ice cream and a cookie for dessert, I really wanted more but stayed strong, I was barely under calories but had banked some for tonight as well so even if I'd been in the red I wouldn't have "truly" been in the red.1 -
Weigh in

Week 2 - Mar 2020
Sunday
PW 160 (72.6kg)
CW 158.9 (72.1kg)
Little reduction but when i weighed my myself before bed weighed a lot more. So I only weigh myself first thing in the morning.
Ate dessert pancakes for 2 nights in a row as they were reduced from pancake day. That adds to my carb intake.
Achieved my goal of drinking tea before eating so to fill belly before breakfast. Also did eat smaller portions but then ate sweet things to fill the gap. So not sure if that technique worked.
GOALS next week
1. Not to eat any cookies/biscuits
2. Eat more fruit like kiwi when wanting a snack

Sunday check in
Hey gang! Getting back into the swing of things here at home after being away - it's always so nice to return home! This week I have to check in for jury duty - hoping I won't need to because I have plans to be at a friend's house to help her prep for her daughter's wedding. But also was not smart enough to see that I did have a small window for mailing in a request to not be called in; I just didn't know about it until too late. I don't mind being a juror, it's just seriously bad timing. Anyway, whether it's jury duty or going to my friend's house, I'll need a good, clear plan for eating and some ideas of how to avoid eating things sane Maria doesn't want. Because insane Maria can be quite compelling. => I am totally planning to have wedding cake and looking forward to it as my pal is a master baker and makes amazing cakes and cupcakes. And macaroons, wowie.
Great NSV day yesterday, shopping for the dress I'll wear at the wedding. It felt amazing to try on dresses in much smaller sizes than the last time I shopped for a dress and see them look really good - it felt so much better than any foods I could think of to eat would taste. True story.
@Mlhopp93 the wonderful thing about that is - the next meal and next day are always a clean slate and fresh start... => You can get back to the green!
@sunshineplace wow, awesome stepping!! I found pre-planning and pre-logging to be the best things that helped me - no surprises and it made it pretty easy to follow my plan.
@TeresaW1020 and @Cornanda we've all been here, scale creep is no fun at all! The best thing I ever heard in my fave podcast was the thought that "Who better to lose this 1.5 pounds (or whatever it is) than the person who has already lost X amount?" You can do this!
@TeraBbreakingFree hey, we have all been there in the space of feeling crappy about food choices... =< What I see in that is you recognizing it right away and taking action; assessing, sharing, getting in movement and learning some things about yourself and your journey. You didn't hide from the experience, you embraced it and that can be very difficult - but you did it. I say congratulations are in order!
@davors19 awesome holding steady on the weigh in! =>
@AustinRuadhain this made **me** shiny and happy inside!! I immediately pictured the whole thing including a great big smile on your face! And you are really kicking some Tiny Habit booty!
@Digger61 congrats on a really nice loss and please keep us updated, we're praying for you and thinking of you
@Katmary71 I think there were two things going on. 1- I decided to just go for letting go of calorie counting and be ok with what happened and work through it. Also, 2- I kind of felt like I'd be in a fishbowl if I overate because everyone was amazed and complimentary of the weight loss. So I was kinda motivated by some feelings that are not really healthy. I'll take that for now but it's something I'll need to work on because I need to do the right things - for the right reasons. I love that you are finding the ways to keep a nice balance of enjoying the events and meals while still having limits, very nicely done and your steps are just amazing!
@Apple852hk I really like your straight forward analysis of what you're doing and the results you net from that - and a very nice payoff with a great weigh in!!4 -
Hey - thought you all would enjoy this as much as I did. All I can say is....SHAZAM. I am envious of this lady's butt and I know she worked super hard to get it!! I want to be her when I grow up!

Hey all. Sorry I've been MIA just a busy time at work. I expect next week will also be busy and then hopefully it will ease up.
I've done well on calories this week and exercise. I was really pleased with my weigh in today. I haven't weighed under 155 for years and years. I can't even remember the last time.
I've been thinking about running a 5 km race this spring. I've very very slow bc I can only run/walk so it would take me maybe 40 or 45 mins? I'm not sure. But I would really like to try. I have wanted to do it for a long time so it would be a nice accomplishment to just participate.
I'm also thinking about joining a kickball league for 10 weeks in spring. I've never played kickball before and I am not very athletic but I'd like to try. Mainly it would get me out to meet some new people. Kickball is like baseball but with a soccer ball....? I'm hoping it is more for fun than competitive.
Both of those things would be hard for me to do bc I get so anxious, but I really need to do something to not be so isolated.
It feels like spring is coming, and I'm really enjoying the slightly improved weather2 -

Hello, all!
Step Challengers, there's still time to get in some more steps today, if you are itching to change your final number for this week. After the week closes at the end of today, FitRockr will allow another day for people to sync up if needed,* and then we will post weekly winners on Tuesday.
The most cool thing, though? As of this afternoon, the Slimpossibles Step Challengers have logged more than 500,000 steps this week! I have such a big smile on my face, thinking about everyone getting in those walks this week. Whatever the healthy number of steps is for each of us, it is just so cool that we are all in motion, all taking steps toward our health and fitness goals!
@leonadixon -FitRockr support resolved the issue with your not showing up on the weekly rankings. So all now seems to be well there.
@sunshineplace - I know you had a problem a couple of times early on, but that seems to have settled out as well. You are definitely on the list now, and have been consistently there when I have checked in over the rest of the week.
Check in on current status here: https://www.fitrockr.com/#!/challenge/5e5e38b1c5f4ba00016a1849
*FYI - everyone shows as having synced up today. So whatever you are doing as regards syncing up with your fitness tracker platform, it appears to be working just fine.2 -

PW: 194.6

I had a good week up until yesterday when my bipolar daughter had an episode and I had to sit at the ER with her while she got stitches. The pent up stress released itself today in the form of binging on peanut butter. Over calories by almost 700. Tomorrow is a new day.4
