Good morning everyone,
I posted these 2 links on our team thread yesterday and please feel free to do the same. Hope that everybody is taking care and doing ok during this difficult time!
This link is for free homeschooling (all levels of school age) with Khan Academy. They have sample schedules at the link, with modules your child can complete for various subjects.

Hi @jugar - @rundgrenrocks would like to be moved to cheer squad this week. There may be one other and just sent a message now. Will let you know. Thanks!Hi again @jugar - nstephenson01 is coming back for April, so would appreciate you adding her back to team WNM’s April spreadsheets when created. Have asked her for a starting weight and will provide. Thanks!
Done and done. I'll have the new spreadsheets ready in a few days, but it is noted in the NOTES that nstephenson01 is back for April. Have you checked with starcrystal3? It says she is taking a break for March.
Thanks!0 -
@jugar gharvey2753 signed up for the challenge on the registration page. They are on the Downsizers team already. I told them they didn’t need to sign up month to month in the future.1

Caught it - no worries! Someone always does this...0 -
As you can see, the little snowflakes are arriving in the MOD column after week 4. This is just so I know I have transferred the week 4 weights into the April spreadsheet - which will be coming your way soon. Next month is a 5 week challenge, so we have some extra time.
IDEAS for challenges please???? We will need some!0 -
Hi @jugar - For April, nstephson01 has a starting weight of 170 and she will weigh in on Thursdays. We are very sad to share that our team member pacsnc6 has been diagnosed with cancer. She will weigh in this week and move to cheer squad in April. Thanks
Oh dear - that is a tough one. What a time to get a diagnosis like that0 -
She has the most positive attitude and is an inspiration for the rest of us. Timibotkin is also in cancer treatment. She continues to work and regularly wins our weekly step challenge. I cannot recall her ever even complaining. We have some special folks in our F2F family!2

@jugar mellane30 was supposed to weigh in Monday but she weighed in today. Thanks!1

I just posted this in the MOTIVATION category -- if you have a moment, make a quick comment so it will stay on top

Friday already!
All of the April threads will be opened today for introductions, etc. And I'll be sharing the April spreadsheets today as well. Sorry to be slow but there is a new section that I want to get as up to date as possible so that you won't have to worry about it.
Anyone on cheer squad moving back up to regular for April?
Let's get things going for April! We need more members, so post on the thread above, add any more messages on boards giving this link that you can, and give a last minute boost to enrollment!0 -
April Captains Lounge is open, start using on Sunday - thanks!

Howdy, and happy Saturday!
Slimpossibles has been experimenting this month with FitRockr, a tool that allows you to create "social fitness leagues." What we have used it for this month is a Step Challenge. It has been pretty fabulously low maintenance, for sure!
To use it, the person (A) needs to have a fitness tracker (many different options) OR (B) they need to download the Misfit, Fitbit or Google Fit app and set that up with their phone as their tracker. After that, when they sync up with their platform/app, FitRockr automatically gets that data.
For our Slimpossibles Step Challenge, once people were set up, this was not at all hard to manage. One person changed their name and then disappeared from the list, but FitRockr support fixed that within a day or so (shockingly excellent support for a free app!). @TeresaW1020 and I did put a little effort into putting together a list that matched MFP names and FitRockr names, so that we could acknowledge people in our regular thread each week.
Something we have not tried yet -- I just threw out the idea to the group to see if people bite -- is using another kind of challenge that FitRockr supports -- a challenge based on what they call Activity Points. If you tell FitRockr your age, height and weight, it then calculates your resting calorie burn and gives you Activity Points based on your doing exercise that burns more calories than that. (Note: Only FitRockr sees the height, weight and age data. That's not visible to other users.)
FitRockr Activity Points - Detailed Description:Points express your activity level independent of steps or distance! FitRockr will automatically calculate Activity Points based on your activity level and personal attributes such as gender, age, height and weight.
Points are calculated by setting your active calorie burn in relation to your resting calorie burn (xxx number; mine is about 1200) as follows:
Active Calories / Resting Calories * 100 = Activity Points
To not wait until your resting calories are reached before getting any points, FitRockr makes a continuous forecast. At the end of the day your points will be finalized. It may happen that the end result deviates from the forecast and you see a little less or a little more points at the end.
So, how could FitRockr be used by other teams or for a Fat2Fit-wide challenge?- Another Fat2Fit team could have their own Step Challenge. Shockingly easy to manage. No more scouring the discussion thread to capture and record step counts.
- Another Fat2Fit team could have their own Activity Point challenge.
- We could create a Team Challenge for all of Fat2Fit. People on each Fat2Fit team (Slimpossibles, Waistaways etc) would get set up on their team, and then the challenge would be to see which team did the best. Maybe try this out by asking for 5-10 volunteers from each team, to keep the number of people even?
- A Fat2Fit-wide challenge could be based on Steps or Activity Points.
- FitRockr also supports "race to a target" challenges. Those can be based on number of Steps, Distance or Activity Points. So a team (or all of Fat2Fit, or everyone Fat2Fit-wide that wants to play) could work to complete enough steps to cover some geographic distance -- coast to coast in Canada would be about 8 million steps, for example. Since FitRockr would manage the tracking, the work to manage the challenge would be maybe posting pictures and updates (look, we reached this place; here's a photo) and perhaps updates about how the team are doing each week.
I am happy to answer questions about our experience with FitRockr, and think @TeresaW1020 would be happy to as well!
If you want to see posts about how this went, you can check out the Slimpossibles March thread and search on the term FitRockr.0 -
@AustinRuadhain as you know, I think this is a fabulous initiative. I'm glad to hear that it has gone well for the Slimpossibles, and I like the idea of gathering up a few volunteers from each team. Personally, I greatly prefer the Activity Points over steps, since everyone can be on the same team even if steps are not their "thing".
I have been reading the messages on the Slimpossibles chat thread, and it looks like it is running well. If you could help craft a message to put on all of the other team threads calling for those 5-10 volunteers so that we can have a few teams up and running fairly soon, that would be a huge help. Not all the teams will want to do this, so the optional nature of it should be made clear. A shorter version of your message above would do the trick I'm sure. Send it to me by email - easier to read than MFP messages - liselyn@gmail.com or start it as a Google Doc that you can share and we can edit together. thanks!
Other Captains? Any reactions to this? I could see it running well, but also still having monthly or weekly other challenges that are more diet, motivation, etc. oriented.0 -
@jugar I think it's a great idea, I just don't have any extra time. Yes, I'm stuck at home like everyone else, but I'm working from home, teaching virtual piano lessons, taking care of my foster and getting my steps in for TrimStones Step Team...I know others need some variety so I'm sure they'd enjoy it. I just can't take on anything else right now. Sorry...but great idea!1

Hey Captains! I just posted the below post to your teams. Let's help our members remember to use the habit tracker this month. It might be a good way to help us all stay more focused on our goals.
HABIT TRACKER! Did you know that we have our own habit tracker that is here for you to use? It’s on the main group page, under the announcements called the F2F Habit Tracker-April 2020. Habit tracking works because it gives you a visual representation of your progress. You get to see all the times you’ve done the habit lined up as an unbroken chain. Once you can see your progress, you’re much less likely to skip the habit.
Just click the link and follow the easy instructions and start tracking your habits today! Habit Tracker
TIP: I like to bookmark my team's page at the beginning of every month for easier access. Happy Tracking!!0 -
Please head over to the April lounge.
