Thanks for getting things started for April, Magic! No mowing today it's still cold and rained some more. Hopefully tomorrow.

I had a tough day. I got really down last night and it continued into today. I think the uncertainty of all this is getting to me, not to mention worrying about my family, friends, coworkers, and everyone in the world basically. Anyway I took it kind of easy today and will make it up in the coming days. Not like there's a lot to do other than work right now.

I am eating too much bread. I'll just not buy any more when the remaining half loaf of ezekiel is gone.

Awww @Mihani I’m so sorry. Sometimes when I am sleeping I wake up with an anxiety attack...just because of so much uncertainty!

Lots of vegan you tubes that might help you...I will post when I go into the living room.

For now just know we are here for you!

Well, I'm back. I haven't gone back into any previous months, so I don't really know what any of you are up to. Except, I hope that @Mihani, you start to feel better about things.

I'm not sure when I posted last, or where I left off. I think it was before I was diagnosed, and it turned out to be Kidney Cancer. I had my right kidney removed, and after a rather long time to mostly recover... I was off work for 16 weeks... I am feeling much better. I just had my 6 month blood work done, and it's all good. I just had a chest X-ray, and will find out if it's clear in a week or so. I pretty much reverted back to my old, more or less SAD diet after surgery, it's how I felt like eating. I am now back to vegetarian... although I don't actually eat enough veggies... I don't eat meat. And I don't eat sweets, so far, either. My love for sweets I think is very detrimental to my weight. I am trying to lean towards vegan... but not really vegan, because I still eat cheese... and I also had sour cream on my burrito bowl tonight. But, I'm finding a few fake meat products that taste OK. I am a huge fan of Beyond Meat... a few fast food places use it for fake meat burgers. I'm OK with the way I'm eating for now, and I'm losing weight, VERY slowly, but I am going down, not up, currently, so I'm good with that, too.

Hopefully, I'll check back in a little more frequently, and find out what some of you are doing.

    B)

Awww... Magic you are such a sweetie. Thanks for the encouraging words and I'll try to check out some of the youtubers this weekend.

Sloth, glad to hear things are going so well for you!!! Hoping for more good news when your x-ray results are back.

I feel like I've snapped out of my funk a bit. I'm working from home again today because my boss wanted to get into the office. Hoping it will dry out enough that I can play with the new lawnmower today. Plan to be hard at work by 9:00. I did sleep in a bit this morning. I miss routine honestly.

Enjoying the quiet of the morning with Lulu snuggled up on the sofa next to me and me enjoying my morning lovecoffee.gif.

Not venturing out at all today, except for Lulu walks. Today will be just chill and get ready for the work week. I feel fine, once again...and once again, thank you God. I work alone at my desk and the only time someone comes somewhat near me, is when the receptionist on Monday checks in. But I will do what I did last week...I will tell her to stay away til her shift starts and then at two, clock her in and me out.

And if anyone has anything to show me on their phone...I will say, save it ... I'll look at in in six months. LOL

Everyone be safe and keep washing those hands and keep your hands away from your face. Period!

@sloth3toes , so very sorry about the kidney cancer dx...wow. But sounds like you are doing pretty good now. Keep improving on your diet and do whatever wonderful things our kidneys love...you have one very precious one that needs you to shower it with loads of care.

Stay safe and healthy...and welcome back.

I ventured out...do not have a thermometer ...looked on line and it said my walmart had three. They lied. So I picked up a few things...in line...some dork head does not stand six feet back (he was maybe two feet back), I did not know he was there (if you're a Seinfeld fan, he was a SIDLER :D )...and told me there was an open register...(I was in the self checkout line).

HOLY CRAP...he scared me to death. >:) I told him he needed to be back 6 feet and he told me I got up on the wrong side of the bed.

I have tried finding thermometer online...nowhere, can't find one. So took a chance. Will just wait til they are online again. What a moron. :s

Anyway, home now...having green tea with pomegranate and strawberry...pretty good.

    Today's Menu:

    oatmeal
    cuties
Dr. Mc Ds soup fixed the same as yesterday, added broccoli, spinach and more ramen
veggies...cukes and celery and carrots and hummus
bean tostada ...have the tortilla...have the beans and cabbage...salsa...no tomatoes...have the onions...no cilantro...but it will be just fine.
    popcorn and pineapple for dessert

We are still open...I don't see us closing...for sure, not service...maybe there is a chance that sales will close in the future...not sure. I'm fine with it if we do close.

Be safe out there dear friends. Later. <3

Sounds like a great day Magic! I don't have a thermometer either. The one I have is broken, stuck on 100 degrees.

I was MUCH better at getting work done at home today. I think I'm finally getting into a groove with all this. I will be in the office tomorrow and then probably Sunday. My boss and I are continuing to alternate days. Considering the order is now extended through all of April, not much choice but to get into a routine with all this and get the work done.

And I got the lawn mowed. Love the new mower!

Love hearing you are doing better @Mihani !

For dinner, I am going to make a sushi bowl...rice, cucumber, carrot, pickled ginger and nori. I don't have any avocado. Better get in there and make my rice.

Also, I need to make a new batch of almond milk. I am on a roll with the oatmeal breakfast...oatmeal and blueberries and flax meal...good for something right?

I am taking a PBand J tomorrow. I measured out the PB so I did not go overboard...ezekiel sesame...and the jam is made with xylitol. I am going to eat out of my house for awhile. May go to sprouts for more spinach and broccoli, cucumber and avocado on Sunday...and fruit. But that's it. I throw out too much food.

I think I just need to keep things simple.

    Have a safe night.

    Hello, peeps!

Sorry to have been quiet! I had a post in this thread on the 1st, but it seems not to have "stuck."

@magic71755 -keeping things simple sounds great, and very smart. PB&J sounds delicious and comforting!

I know my menus are pretty low key right now. My local grocer has streamlined their produce offerings for right now, so there are a few things I love that I can't get (parsnips, turnips, acorn squash; butternut squash is hot or miss). That's life as a produce eater, though! I know the produce manager by name (he has worked at the store for 22 years, and I have been shopping their for over 10), and these days, when he sees me, he gives me the parsnip update. So sweet! Anyway, for now I'm eating more cabbage and carrots -- things that more peopel around here eat as well.

I am so sorry about the goofball at the store. I had an encounter recently where a woman ignored the directions and the bright red rectangle on the floor where she was supposed to stand. She came around to the front of the cart which put her all of 2 feet away. I hopped back and said something a bit sharp, and she continued as if I had said nothing (deaf? ignoring me?). A staff member at the store saw, and assisted.

Hmm, if you have a mask, or if you have a bandanna you can wear as one, maybe try that? It's a strong visual signal that you are being extra careful. I wore a bandanna as a face mask on my last trip and people seemed to give me a wider berth!

@Mihani - Congratulations on the new lawn mower, and on getting the lawn mowed!
I have been out in the yard, too, and am super excited about it! My yard has been neglected sadly for the last year or two, and I am working my way through it bit by bit (Tiny Steps!). I have filled 4 big paper bags for the composting pickup so far this week. It's supposed to rain some tomorrow, but I am thinking it won't rain ALL day, so I'll get to do a little more! I spent about an hour on it today.

@sloth3toes , I am so sorry to hear about your cancer battle, and glad to hear you are doing so well.

Okay, off to bed. First, I'll make sure "Post Reply" seems to have worked, and then off for meditation and sleep!

I'm glad you guys are enjoying your lawn mowers. B) I reluctantly mow the lawn. :'(

I'm OK with the whole cancer thing... as long as it doesn't come back. If any of you have had cancer, you'll be able to relate with the fear of recurrence. As long as my chest X-ray comes back clear, it'll be another 6 months for more scans.

But what it's done for me is pushed me into another gear. I feel like now, finally, I have to start doing stuff for ME, and taking care of ME, for real.

    Hey peeps!
    A quick morning hello!
Also, I thought you might appreciate my excitement. My husband stopped at the grocery store on the way home from work (being careful, but essential job) and found an ACORN SQUASH! I was sosoSO excited! I love them, and haven't had one in a while. I promise, I'll savor each bite!

Austin, thanks for corgi cuteness <3 . Funny now that you mention... I realized that the people who work in the produce section of stores I frequent know me because I'm there so often. Used to be bartenders who knew me in my younger and wilder days. Thank goodness I've matured! LOL

Magic, you probably know this but xylitol is toxic to dogs. I just mentioned since you said your jam has xylitol in it and I've seen it in a lot of products lately like PB and bread so I have to be careful since I hide my dog's pills in PB. A brand I had bought for a long time that only contained peanuts suddenly they started adding xylitol so I switched brands and always check ingredients to make sure they didn't change. He doesn't get other table scraps other than he shares some of my fresh veggies when I'm cooking. He especially likes carrots and zucchini. Hope you are having a good work week and everyone is staying away from you!

Sloth, be sure to let us know what you hear on your x-ray. Glad you're making progress on transitioning to a more healthful diet.

I am going to make a pot of soup today, make salad dressing and set up my salads, saute a couple bunches of kale with onions and mushrooms. Will be all set for most of the week.

OH yes, indeed...absolutely know about Xylitol...Lulu's only treats are fruits and veggies from me (and of course nothing from the banned list that are poisonous to dogs)...nothing else.

Lulu has her own doggie treats...Nubz and Instinct Raw Boosters...they have a variety of kinds...and Lulu gets the entire assortment, along with her dog food by Wellness...thanks to Chewy.com.

But, maybe someone else reading this read did not know it...so good info. Thanks.

    coffee
    oatmeal

In this videoI have a lively conversation with Dr. Will B., The Gut MD. He talks about the COVID-19 virus, how it relates to our digestion, how it can present and ways to protect yourself. We also discuss immunity, the microbiome, keto diets, and what the perfect stool looks like.
Dr. Will also talks about whether or not to have a colonoscopy (especially if you are already plant based) and if the Cologuard is an effective test for colon cancer.

Dr. Will's new book, FIBER FUELED, will be released on May 12th.

Taking a break from work. Got up nice and early and was at my desk before 8 a.m. Just had a bowl of leftover soup and will head back up to do some more work. Breakfast was a vegan protein shake and a slice of ezekiel toast. Dinner will be a big ol' salad and some fruit.

    Have a great day!

My soup will be Dr. Mc D's with extra spinach, broccoli and tofu and ramen. It is an easy way to get lots of greens in … the soup flavors it all...making a huge bowl each night from now on. I watched that video and now totally happy I went plant based a year ago. Actually did it to see if I could reduce the inflammation in my knees...so I guess I have to thank my sad little anthric knees for putting the right food into my belly.

    Have a great day everyone.

Well, I have plowed through my coffee, oatmeal, celery and hummus and my lasagna...and it's only 12:53PM.

I may have to order a Jimmy Johns...veggie...their bread is vegan...but not GF.

I might be able to hold out until 6...but who knows.

Hope y'all are having a great day.

    Today's Menu:
    coffee
oatmeal with the all important add ins
Amy's frozen breakfast burrito (for lunch)

    then home:

    celery and hummus
    pineapple
    potatoes and spinach and cauliflower
dessert: I think I have one of those orange vegan 50/50 bars

I really would like to go to Sprouts...but afternoon shopping not the best idea. Better to go first thing in the morning, before everyone has touched everything.

6 hours to go before my weekend. Yahooo!

    Later, mates.

Well, they are telling us not to go out for the next two weeks...so I put an order in at Sprouts for delivery ...it will arrive NEXT Tuesday ...that was first available.

For now, I have plenty of food...just not a ton of produce. Oh well.

As you can see, I enjoy talking to myself. LOL

Hi Magic... I sure hope all this starts to let up come May 1st. I'm very much a stay at home not terribly social person and even I am tired of this. Yeah the delivery places are crazy busy. Even Amazon Prime isn't delivering all the time.

I too have plenty of food, but it's funny how you can open a full freezer or pantry and think oh there's nothing to eat. Like a teenager. I did say to someone the other day I think my inner child is having a tantrum.

I'm still alternating days in the office with my boss and working from home is getting easier. I may just start liking this whole working from home thing, but once things get back to "normal" I'm sure I'll be in the office all the time again.

Super stressful day at the office so I'm looking forward to being home tomorrow.

Food today was a breakfast of vegan protein shake and ezekiel toast, totally skipped lunch because I was crazed at work and ate a handful of pretzels, dinner will be leftover soup and a salad.

Sorry u had a stressful day at work...enjoy your day WFH tomorrow.

I am making potatoes in the air fryer...baked...then will add some shredded cabbage and spinach to it...I don't have any cauliflower. Now sure what I will add to make it taste good...like sauce ... or dressing.

I bought a tortillas press last year... never used it. Have the masa harina so will make corn tortillas tomorrow and have tostadas. I am NOT going to the store for a week (this is going to be hard...I need my fresh broccoli...even writing this I am thinking of going to the store early tomorrow and breaking my rule...ALREADY!)

I have plenty of frozen fruit, including bananas so I can make nice cream.

I have ZERO avocados and now I am so wanting an avocado sammy...mainly cuz I HAVE NONE.

You're right...there is so much food in this house and nothing to eat.

    EGGGGGGGGGGGADS!

Have a safe night...I finally got a thermometer...it was just delivered...will wait til tomorrow to open the box.

I do have some vegan kimchi...will have some tonight...the healthy gut microbiome is what I am going for.

    Alrighty then. TC...back later.
