I'm Linda, will be 51 on May 11 and live in Michigan. I don't have kids but have 3 grown nephews who are married.
I've been on this team since October 2019. Thank you to all who have encouraged me! It has been helpful.
I have two great nieces, one who is about 15 months old and one who just turned 6 months old.
I have had a weight issue most of my life and have lost and gained many pounds over the years. I have lost about 46 pounds since January of 2018 and probably have around 50 or so more to lose. I work with a trainer at my gym three times a week, he works me really hard, which is what I want. I'm much stronger now than when I started. He has given me workouts to do on my own when I'm not working with him. I usually give myself one rest day per week and weekends usually do some low intensity exercise at home.
I have support and accountability from my trainer and other people in my life but can always use more.
My goals for are basically continuing from October.
Get in fruits and veggies and water. Would like to do the following everyday but know that's not realistic so I'm going for 4 days per week.
Fruit goal: 4
Veggie goals: 4
Water: 64 oz
Obviously right now I haven't been going to the gym and most of my workouts have been low intensity or just walking. I also think I'm probably going to have to work my way back up to the weights I was able to lift once the gym opens again. Also, my fruits and veggies goal hasn't been going well for a while. I do need to get back to doing better with this.5 -
Hi all,
Am super behind on your posts. Shall try and catch up later but hope you're all doing well and staying safe x
I'm having a bit of a bad week weight-wise. Had a total binge on Monday, which haven't done in a while and was over 3lbs up the next day. Have been average to good since then but still isn't going back down much. I just find it really disheartening that it can go up so quickly but is so hard to get down. It feels like one bad day can ruin weeks of work4 -

I talked with my neighbor who fixed my plumbing issues. I told them when the restaurants can open again I would like to take them out for dinner. They both told me I didn't have to do that. Last time he helped me fix something he wouldn't accept payment either and told me to give extra to church. I'm either going to do that or as you said to find someone to pay it forward to. They really are great neighbors. They told me I remind them of a neighbor they had when they lived elsewhere. They would help her with things too. I'm grateful that he's a pretty good handyman. My dad is too but is 85 and I didn't want him to be crawling around under the bathroom sink.4 -
I know I haven't posted for a few days.
Food: too much
Water: not enough
Exercise: walking
The last few days I haven't been counting. Also eating too much and not getting enough exercise. Most of the exercise lately has just been walking. I need to get back into the more intense workouts but haven't had the motivation to do it.
Michigan's stay at home order was extended again, until May 28 now. Some manufacturing plants can open starting Monday so hopefully that will help with my job also. They haven't been as busy with everything going on and have already laid off a lit of people and may lay off more. I'm going to be grateful for every day that I still have my job.6 -

Hello & happy Saturday! 😊
I think my lack of exercise caused my gain. I weighed myself Monday morning, I’ve been the same weight all week. I ate really well, I think it was my lack of workouts. Work was so busy, I was just too tired after work to workout & my allergies have been bad, just have not been feeling great! Really going to try to get back to my workouts this week!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you amazing moms! Enjoy your day!🥰❤️🌺🌸🤗4 -

Happy Mother's Day, Kirsten. This is a very hard time to keep a balance and lose weight right now. You are one of the best at this and don't forget that.3 -

To all the beautiful mothers in this group, happy Mother's Day!! (I know I'm early, I like being first, it's my competitive nature). And thank you all that have asked and have been concerned about my own Queen! She continues to recover from the broken arm at light speed! God bless!
You really are competitive! In a good way. I love seeing your mom here with her flowers. Coincidentally, all the way around the world (really far no matter whichever way the crow flies) in Toronto, Canada, my son just drove over an hour to drop off the most beautiful bouquet and couldn't come in. Plus it was snowing and blowing like a blizzard so we couldn't stay out on the front porch too long. It was a complete surprise and I was so happy to see him in person. BTW, you do have a bit of an unfair advantage timewise. 😉 p.s. Congrats on needing that new belt. Also, my poor Spin bike not only is nameless, but I had to dust her (him?) off the other day. That's just neglect.5 -
Each year at this time, I post a picture of my cherry tree in blossom. Today, on May 9th no less, here is what that looked like by video. It's been snowing and blowing for a good while now and it feels like -2 Celcius. This is record-setting. Will 2020 ever let up? Listen with your sound on: https://youtu.be/pgA3Tk8tOnM2

Friday Check in
Food - off plan (surrendered to potato chips last night)
Water - 2 l
Exercise - rest day, but managed 7000 steps
It was another busy day yesteday. I did well all day but had a bowl of chips off plan last night. It was stress eating really because I am still have some issues with my older son. I have not done that in a while and remember why because that salt really does not make a person feel good. After a busy week, I am resting this weekend and plan take a walk soon, so will not post much today. As Theresa said, the weather here is insane today. We had snow flurries and hail, which is so bizarre for this time of year. It is sunny now, which is another weird turn. I see that yummy food just above from @mrsbell8well, and thanks for the Mother’s Day wishes from @KUMEcyclingteam. Your mom looks lovely and I hope that she continues to feel better.3 -
Just a few reminders for our optional week 1 step challenge. If you are participating and have not been posting daily, please post all of your daily steps tomorrow (Sunday, May 3rd to Saturday, May 9th). Given that we have a new month and some new people, I may have to message or post for some clarifications. I hope to post winners tomorrow evening or Monday morning (Toronto time). The boys have some things planned for me for Mother’s Day, so it is hard to plan the day tomorrow. Thanks!4 -
@Mrsbell8well Your meals always look soooooo delicious! I need to research healthier dessert options.
@nstephenson01 - That avocado toast looks awesome. I've been enjoying multigrain toast with hummus myself.
@podperson1 - Hugs to you! I've usually found that sodium is the main culprit with big overnight gains. Maybe drink lots of water with lemon over the next couple of days.
So I did an experiment yesterday where I tried to eat the whole day without logging, but still make smart decisions and keep meals balanced and controlled. It worked UNTIL the evening. Hubs brought home rum and I had one while cooking dinner. Then had wine. Blew my calories right out the window. Then the kids got out chips and I was not strong enough to resist.
So, my experiment has taught me that I still need the accountability factor of logging my meals. I'm not 100% ready to fly solo. That's okay, though, because I still saw improvement in my food choices throughout the day. I am choosing to have fruits and vegetables more, and my tastes are even changing to prefer fresher foods over processed.
Today is a new day, and I've logged breakfast and dinner (planning ahead). Keep going forward, everyone! Your next opportunity to improve is just a moment away!6 -
Hello team. Since my son and Sunny left I’ve been taking turns cleaning, going through old photos and being a couch potato! I’m trying not to do emotional eating. Watching this much tv I’m seeing like an outrageous number of food commercials. Did anyone else notice that?? Free delivery or curbside. They make it so easy to eat!!!! And it all looks a lot tastier than the boring food I’m eating. I do wish I was a good cook so I could make great meals like @Mrsbell8well and some of you others do.
@sleepymom5 I am very short at less than five feet tall so according to the charts I am way overweight! In high school I was about 100 pounds but I would not look healthy at that weight, not saying I could even lose that much weight!! That would be like 30 more pounds! Not happening!?!? If I could get into the 120’s I’d be so happy and probably that would be a healthy weight for me. At this point I’m so amazed that I could even get where I’m at! It’s a day at a time thing for sure!!!1 -
Greetings Team WeightNoMore!
Your gorgeous captain @cafelelia asked me to post about maintenance, since several of you have just arrived at or are close to your goal weight. I’m thrilled to do so!
I reached my first goal almost 8 years ago. I lost 34 pounds after years of trying and failing. Finally I found the combination of eating and exercise, commitment and grit, and the thrill of feeling fit. All was well for a while. Quite a long while – the habits were sticking pretty well. Then it started creeping back up again. I got sick of logging and thought I could wing it just fine. I retired and no longer was going to the gym at work. So I re-committed to MFP, logging, and started looking for a community. Eventually I found F2F and have been here around two years now. I got back to my initial goal, hit my newer goal, and have stayed there pretty well. 40 pounds gone from my highest weight.
So I am not losing, AND (not but!) I am staying with F2F in order to maintain. Why do I stick around if I’m not losing and helping the team stats? It is because the only thing that helps keep me at goal are the people in F2F. The voices of my teammates are in my head only while I am still interacting with them. In return, I can offer what i have learned about maintaining for all these years only if I stay here too. Commitment wanes without community.
Maintaining is almost exactly the same as losing. Logging helps. Knowing if the calories in and calories out balance helps (but you get to eat your exercise calories!). Accountability for exercise and healthy lifestyle helps. There are still crappy days when I just want to eat all the cookies or sit around all day – but they don’t last. I have a good rant over the resulting belly ache, gasp in shock at the scale that week, and move on. Maintaining still takes some work, but it is a great place to be. Laurels make a really terrible couch, so don’t rest on yours! Keep doing what you know works.
So to those of you who have made it - Welcome to your maintenance zone!
Another question – I’d like to create another category in the spreadsheet. There is Support Team for those taking a break, having health problems, or going on vacation – temporary time off. I would like to make a Maintenance Team with only those who are staying within their “zone”. You go back to regular team if the gain goes beyond what you set as a limit, and come back to maintenance when you return to your goal zone. Would this be of interest? It could make tracking # of weeks in the zone easy.7 -
I really like the idea of having a maintenance thread. I been visiting MFP maintaining weight for inspiration too.
Many thanks for thinking of this idea.2
