Saturday check in
This is going to be a quick one as I still have things to do today! Yesterday was good. On plan for food, water and I also did a 5 k walk. I did a bunch of food prep and some healthy baking too. Today has been a busy one. We cleaned the house, I dealt with tax return stuff for my business with our accountant and now I am helping my older boy finish his assignments. Online schooling is not easy for a grade 8 when you have 6 classes, all with different teachers and deadlines. We are going to sit down tonight and I am going to show him some planning tricks and ways to keep his inbox clear. I have been reading everyone's posts and sorry for not responding. Hope that you are all having a great weekend!5 -
Hi team happy Sunday. I have been doing a free Zumba class through Facebook if any of you want to check it out it’s “Zumba with Kristy” and she does 30 minute Zumba classes that you can connect through Facebook to a Zoom meeting. Just thought I’d share that with you.5

Week 3
Weigh In Day: Sunday May 17
Previous Weight: 137.4
Today’s Weight: 140.1
I am having a really hard time getting motivated these days. I need to get back on track this week!6 -
Sunday 5/17
Food: started out pretty good, then ended up going way over
Water: 80 oz
Exercise: 20 minutes low intensity
It rained here all day and is still raining. Very dreary day. No walk because of the rain. How to get in one tomorrow.
Church was supposed to have a drive in service but since there was so much rain forecasted for today they only did the livestream.
After I had lunch I slept a while to stay awake for work, although I'm not sure if we'll even get to work 8 hours. Hopefully we will.3 -

It has been a long week, but I am truly excited we are so close to finishing the homeschool!!!! Saturday was the first day that I was not too exhausted from the long days that I actually got to go out on a run in the morning. I really had not been running since pre-pandemic, so I started small with a small loop around our city, and it felt truly amazing to be outside and running again! I am so ready to run more. Thank you for letting me share my excitement. If I start sharing the steps, maybe that will hold me to another level of accountability to make sure I get out to run?5 -
What's that eerie silence? Oh, my kids have all gone to school for the first time in 2 months...
But wait, I live behind the intermediate (middle) school... morning tea and lunchtime "school kid" noise is back with a vengeance!
On the plus side, nobody has told me to turn the music down, or growled at me for grinding coffee while they're "in a meeting" for school. And I can walk through the house without tripping over one of my kids! The cats are wondering what the heck happened and why nobody loves them anymore... no more humans on tap!
With the house quite empty I'm still working from home, the kitchen seems tempting, but I am sticking to set mealtimes. Looking forward to getting into the gym after work too. I'm wearing one of my new pairs of leggings today and they're so comfy I want to go buy them in a size smaller as well so I'll still have them when I lose more weight! I do have a habit of doing everything in my activewear since we've been in lockdown... including work! Heaven help if I have to go back to the office! 🤣

Check in: Sun 16th
Food: logged and under (using less than 1/2 exercise cals - 200)
Water: ok
Exercise: 90min cycle ride
Rest day ended up being gardening for 6hrs then a 1 1/2 1hr cycle ride! Some of my plants that are waiting to go to the allotment (that are hanging out on my decking in pots) got trashed by a hedgehog overnight - upsetting but I can't really be mad at a cute hedgehog. He visit us often (staying under our decking), but has never destroyed ants before:-(
We cycled to snelsmore common and Donnington Castle again, but taking a slightly different route. When we got to snelsmore common, there was a large fire in the scrubs. A few fire engines and lots of firemen dealing with it. Hopefully it didn't burn too big an area. Our cycle ended up being a little longer than anticipated as we cycled a wife birth round it.
In the evening we had Indian Takeaway. Tried to make a better choice than normal - had chicken and prawn shashlick, salad (no dressing) with 1/4 naan. So no sauces/cream etc. I still counted it as about 1,200 calories, and awaiting the water weight gain (which hopefully will be lost by Wednesday......)

*sic wide berth, not wife birth 🤣😂🤣😂1

I have another photo to share - I just found this on my profile from a few years back. This is me at 330 ish lbs, and at 167 ish lbs. I am obese in one photo and overweight in the other, if you believe BMI. I needed to lose around another 10 lbs to be considered at the top end of a healthy weight range for my height (5' 7") One of the reasons why I won't set myself a goal weight - this was where my doctor stepped in and forbid me from losing any more weight, and very forcibly told me that the scales do not trump common sense!
Unfortunately I let myself get so obsessed over the scales that it turned into a full-blown ED, and common sense went right out the window. (I sure don't look happy in that "thin" photo!) It's taken a lot of recovery to get to where I am today, but I am glad to have photographic reminders - I do miss being the size that I was when I was that thin, but I don't miss the insanity of my thinking during that time, or how unwell I made myself. Particularly because I had no idea I had anorexia at the time.
Weight loss can be slow, weight loss can be frustrating. The scales won't always play nice. It is far too easy to get wrapped up in it and it can consume you. Remember to be kind to yourself. Life happens, weight loss will accumulate over time, and all you need to do is just keep more or less on track, and keep living.

@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx it is scary to think that you were not even in the healthy BMI range in your "thin" photo. In my head I have top end healthy BMI as being my goal, but may rethink this! Thank you for sharing. Glad your recovery has gone well, and you most definitely have a great attitude to weight loss now.2

Sunday 5/17
Food: On plan!
Water: 80 oz
Exercise: 45 minute walk, PT and stretching
I had a good day yesterday. I planned my meals and stuck to my plans. I even planned in some snacks but didn't have them. I am set for today too with a plan. I am feeling good about things. I am bummed that I put on so much weight during the quarantine but I was thinking about it. I gained, nothing that I can do about it. I still can turn things around for the end of this AND I also have 2 full weeks left of May. I can still be successful. I am going to work on getting back into my healthy habits. I was struggling with being consistent with water and exercise and now I am back on track with that. I just need to build from there. This week, PLANNING and following the plan. I am actually feeling very positive about things. Hope everyone has an awesome week! We can do it!!
@GingerPwr I don't know how I missed your post yesterday! I refreshed before I posted too. Those are awesome NSVs!! Now I actually want a salad with a cheeseburger! It is only 9 am here too Lol! You really are inspiring with your workouts too.
@JillyBT Awesome steps!
@tryingagain5 I am in the same boat so let's keep moving forward (not up! Lol!) I also have those days that start off good and then go off. Just keep going, you can do this.
@hope002 Fantastic steps!!
@CassieGetsFit2013 Awesome Cassie! You will be under 200 before you know it! Keep it going!
@Cafelelia It is nice that you can take the time with your son and teach him some skills that he actually will be able to use throughout his life. Hope you had a nice weekend!
@lennoncpa Thanks for sharing about the zoom zumba. I know we have a few members who like to do zumba
@Zumba_Luvah Sorry about that, that was probably me. Thanks for pointing that out!
@twyla77 You and me both! We have 2 full weeks left in May. We have time to turn this around.
@kenzierenzieroo Nice loss this week. I am sure everyone with little ones and even not so little ones are looking forward to school wrapping up. I am glad that finally getting out to run reminded you how much you enjoy it. Hope you take that motivation and keep it going!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx How was it getting them all out Monday morning? Glad things are getting back to normal there! You will have to keep us posted how things are going. I think you are one of the firsts (at least from what I hear) Thank you for posting about your experience with weight loss before. It is a very important lesson about scales and weight. You have come a long way! Thank you for sharing.
@Freeglerock I just can't get over how you can just bike to a castle. How awesome. I was looking at a map and see you aren't that far from Portsmouth. That is where I am told my family is from. My grandfather's family owned something by the beach. I don't know if it was a small resort or a bathing houses. My maiden name is Price which I hear is a common name in England. Sorry about the hedgehog. Hopefully you can replace the plants without too much trouble.

Sunday check in
Food - on plan
Water - 2l
Exercise - rest day (did not feel so restful!)
Yesterday was a catch up day and it did feel good to get things done. My favorite restaurant just reopened for take out, so we ordered from there. They have a number of healthy options, so it was easy to plan and stick to it. It was delicious and felt like such a treat. My son asked for some baking, so I made a healthy coffee cake that is a Weight Watchers recipe. It turned out great (photo below).
@sleepymom5 - I know that it is disappointing to gain, but you have been through such a tough time and you need to consider that. Now that Jim is getting better, you have some time to focus and plan again. You are completely right that you have 2 weeks left in May to focus on your goals. You can do it!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - Thanks for your awesome post! I would have guessed that you were underweight in the photo on the left. You are so right about the numbers and the journey. I am so envious that your kids are back to school!
@freeglerock - Great day, especially that bike ride! The hedgehog story made me laugh. I would have a hard time being mad at the hedgehog too! I gave up having a little vegetable patch here because the local raccoons would feast nightly and there was barely anything left for us humans.
@kenzierenzieroo - Great loss! That is so great that you have started running again! If you want to take part in the weekly step challenge, just post your steps daily or at the end of the week. It is a great way to stay motivated and accountable. You are so lucky that your kids are going back to school soon!
@tryingagain5 - Sounds like you made the best son a rainy day. I really hope that work increases for you and you get to keep your job.
@twyla77 - It’s ok, a lot of us are having issues with motivation. Maybe you can take some small steps this week to get thing going. You can do it!
@Zumba_Luvah - Thanks for catching that and I corrected the entry!
@lennoncpa - Thanks for the Zumba tip. It is great that you are finding a way to keep dancing!

@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx That is crazy to think that you would be considered "overweight" in your thin picture.
The number on the scale doesn't equate to our value OR our health. Thank you for that reminder!
Okay, my plans are posted for the day, and I just had a delicious breakfast of poached eggs and toast. Now to exercise, clean the house, and go grocery shopping.4 -
Today restaurants opened for outdoor seating. We went and had chinese, not my favorite because sometimes it gives me a belly ache sometimes it doesn't. But it was great to have a seat outside. It wasn't busy I was surprised, my husband thought because we went in the afternoon and people were probably working. I didn't workout today, I should have but I couldn't get motivated this morning. I was looking for a new workout to do. The one I was looking at looked a little intense even for beginners.3

Daily Check In: Monday May 18
Logged food: no
Water: yes, quite a bit!

@sleepymom5 - you’re right - we DO have 2 weeks left in May, so let’s make them an awesome 2 weeks! We can do this!
@Cafelelia - small steps sounds good to me! Thanks for the suggestion! Small steps are still steps, and better than just giving up!

I woke at 3:30 am. Decided to catch up with everyone’s posts. So inspiring. Even those that have gained weight and posted. It takes courage to be open and honest.
I pretty much overate on vacation and hoping to get started back on track tomorrow. Molly’s birthday is today chocolate birthday cake with vanilla buttercream frosting on the menu.
We had such a lovely romantic getaway. We both took naps during the day and got a nice walk in on Saturday. We loved Winston-Salem. Looked at about 15 homes. We have a really good real estate agent. We enddd up looking at more homes Sunday before coming home. The last house we looked at was the most expensive but we were smitten. It’s very quirky. Has a claw foot tub standing in the master bedroom.
I sent out a feeler yesterday for a job transfer. Need to make another effort today and see what happens.
We bought delicious fresh peaches, watermelon, green beans, sweet onions and potatoes from a farm stand in NC. Made buttermilk pancakes topped with fresh peaches yesterday. Also went strawberry picking.
I’m overall finding myself too easily slipping into old eating habits. Sigh. I wish I was “normal” but I’m not. I have eating issues.
After birthday cake today I asked Molly if she would recommit with me to lose weight. Tomorrow is our goal.
Molly has very thick wavy red hair. She was looking pretty top heavy and miserable. I finally agreed to cut her hair. It came out great. We were both so impressed! I kept going and cut my granddaughters hair 4 inches. I may be cutting my own too.
I did a tad bit of running while we were away. Ready to start back.
Today is last day of vacation.
I’m afraid tomorrow’s weigh in will be frightening but it is what it is. I know I’m not alone figuring all this out.

Wednesday weigh in
Week 1: 145
Week 2: 142
Week 3: 142.2
Week 4: 141
I was actually down to 140 yesterday but on my way to pick up my sons new bike and to lowes to get some more materials for our new fence I failed to pack a snack so we had to stop at a drive thru and I chose poorly.
Theresa I would have to look for that post on being a runner as it’s prob buried by now . I want to post more in this forum but I’m finding it hard to balance social media with work and family. In fact I’m going to make a better effort at managing my business social media account and there is only so
Much time I can be behind a screen. I think this summer I’ll have some more free time perhaps.
Basically the running post was about how I coached a friend to start running . She recently lost her dad. I got her to do couch 2 5k and convinced her to get a treadmill. She went from doing 15 minute miles to completing her first virtual 5k (that I convinced her to do) and getting 26 minutes. I was a bit jealous as my first 5k was a whole 10
Minutes slower. but I felt a bit guilty for even feeling jealous and it brought up all these old feelings of being an unathletic scrawny kid picked last in gym who failed all her phys ed tests. I was never athletic and I just don’t possess a natural ability so as an adult I struggle with imposter syndrome. I want to call myself an athlete but I second guess myself I suppose because of the image of an athlete was something I never really attained. Anyway, I mostly run for pleasure and personal fulfillment and for health so I’m trying to focus on that. I’ve started incorporating some speedwork because I do want to get faster especially since my time is so limited and the faster I can get the more miles o can get in a given time period.
All right enough talking for me. Gotta get out there and get in this run before it gets too hot.
Have a great day!

Monday check in
Food - on plan
Water - 2l
Exercise - 5 km walk
I had a great day and continued with food cooking and prep. It was so cold and rainy. I think it is one of the coldest long weekends we ever had. The sun is out now though and we should be returning to more seasonal temperatures over the next few days. We are in phase 1 of reopening here, which means street level shops can open with appropriate distancing, and some summer activities are open like golf and sailing. Restaurants are still take out only, and we are supposed to hear about schools tomorrow. Canada & the US extended our mutual travel ban, so personal, non-essential travel is still not allowed up to June 21st. I completely understand, but am still sad that I missed my trips to the US this year.
@profdawnlee - Nice losses! It is natural with running to sometimes look at others, but the best thing to do is focus on you and your personal best. Speedwork is a great way to improve your time. Some strength cross training helps too. My brother was not athletic growing up, and he has run 11 marathons as an adult (more to come too)! I was an ok athlete but not brilliant, and I have done so many races as an adult, including a few half marathons. We are always evolving!
@mrsbell8well - You did a great job with Molly’s hair! Keep posting progress pics on your starter. The quarantine has been so good for renewing my bread baking interests.
@twyla77 - Great job with the water & steps. What is your small step today?
@ljdanny - It must have been so good going to a restaurant, even if it was not your favorite.
@Gingerpwr - Hope that you got everything done yesterday, most of all the exercise!
@jedaschultz - That is just a little gain, which is ok. Hope that you are doing well.4 -
Hi all,
Late with weigh in - so oops!

I suppose at least it's still going in the right direction but know I have been getting lazier with food choices and having too many 'treats' so am going to try and be a bit stricter this week. Finally getting an online shop delivered tomorrow (only had to book it 3 weeks ago lol!) so that should help a bit. Nice to be able to stock up a little as I don't drive and going to the local stores I've been rather limited to what I can carry back. So plenty of 'store cupboard' essentials/tins etc that I'm running low on.
Will try and catch up with everyone's posts later - work has been a little all over the place this week so haven't been on as much. Take care x5 -
Monday check in
Food - on plan
Water - 64 oz
Exercise - 45 min walk, 30 min walk, PT and stretching.
Just a quick check in. I had to go to grocery shopping this morning. It is so much better going earlier. I have to check for the hours for the senior citizens. I have been waiting until 9 but I think I may be able to go earlier. I had a good day yesterday and so far today no reason not to keep this going! I am waiting for Shannon to go for a walk. It is sunny but chilly and windy today. Have a great day everyone!
Congratulations @JillyBT, @timibotkin and @hope002 -impressive steps last week!!
@Cafelelia That coffee cake looks delicious! Yum! I love when you can still feel like you are having a treat and it is on plan. Much like the cake and the dinner.
@jedaschultz That's not too bad of a gain. Hope all is going well.
@GingerPwr I am a day behind. I am not sure what sounds more delicious, your egg breakfast or the breakfast you posted on the new feed earlier today. I need to up my breakfast game!
@ljdanny It must have been nice to go out for dinner. I am glad you were able to sit outside and enjoy.
@twyla77 Sounds like a good start to the week! Awesome water and steps!
@Mrsbell8well Sounds like you had a nice vacation. I know you will get back on track right away. Happy Birthday to Molly
@brown6267 Nice steps! Hope all is well!
@ProfDawnLee You are doing awesome! What a great May you are having. Thank you for sharing about your start to running. I assumed you were always fit. I think you can absolutely call yourself an athlete. Look how far you have come
@podperson1 Nice loss! Having the house stocked with healthier food does help stay on track! I can't even jump onto my store's delivery service. I don't know how people are doing it around here.2
