Saw this post and thought maybe someone may need this reminder after the weekend!
It’s okay to progress slowly and enjoy life as well

It's Monday! Lots of people hate Mondays, but I consider them a fresh start to the week.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx The Kit Kats alone on your cake are tempting enough, but holy pigs in mud that looks delicious! I'm glad you let yourself enjoy a little bit of your own handiwork.
@Mrsbell8well All your food pics look amazing, and your dishes are adorable - like an English tea party every day! I'll have to dig out my china, too!
@KristieJC When I first saw your post I thought you had lost a pound and was really confused on why you said you had a bad week. Then I realized nope, that's not how numbers work. Lol. There's pre-coffee brain for ya. You have an awesome time camping and being active and don't worry about it!
@CassieGetsFit2013 I really liked the way you were able to re-frame your thinking around your small gain. You're totally right that TOM has a big effect on our weight and that you should consider only a half pound fluctuation a big win!

So for most of July I've been struggling with my own motivation and just feeling really sluggish. I'm re-starting my 8 week Fitness Blender program today, and I'm going to ease into it by doing the lower impact work in the first weeks. Part of that is because I'm also doing IF and don't want to kill it with high impact exercise only to have to wait another 3 hours before I can eat.
Maybe once school starts I'll shift the workouts to the afternoon and be able to go full throttle.
My July goals were to:
Cut down my 3 mile run time
do 15 regular push ups
do 25 hours of exercise this month
So far:
3 mile run time: recording on Sunday
regular push ups 10 (started with 6)
exercise: 15 hours (not counting today)
So I'm progressing. I'm not blowing things out of the water, but I'm getting there.6 -

Yikes!! Terrible week, gotta get focused again. My daughter and son in law came to visit and we grilled a lot and had a bunch of snacks. Out of control for too long. Tomorrow is my 36th wedding anniversary and hubby and I are going out for a nice lunch. Back to it on Wednesday.5 -
Sunday check in
Food - on target
Water - 2l
Exercise - rest day
Yesterday was ok, but I felt tired and really needed a rest day from exercise. I have the kids back in Toronto, and it is really good to have them back. I feel so bad that their activities are so limited, but we will figure it out for the remainder of the summer.
I need to run as my younger son has a minor toe nail infection and I need to pick up a prescription for him. Because of COVID, I used a new online app where you can have a virtual visit with a family doctor or paediatrician. It was such a great experience, and save us so much time and fuss about having to go to a medical office right now. It is our 18th wedding anniversary today, and we are all going out for a patio meal tonight~
@jedaschulz - I know that this is discouraging, but dont’ give up, just refocus! Happy Annversary!
@GingerPwr - I love your plan, especially the gradual way you are doing things! You can do it!
@lenka1 - Thanks for posting that quote, it is so true!
@tryingagain5 - I know that you are working hard and you are doing great!
@cassiegetsfit2013 - Great attitude and that is a win! You are doing great!
@1theresamcvean - I am so sorry that Elisabeth did not have a good experience with the clinic, but at least the surgery went well and I hope that she has a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself too!

Happy Anniversary!2 -
I saw a picture on FB that really inspired me of a Waldorf doll. It reminded me of all the dolls and fun projects I did for Skylynn when she was little. It got my crafting fever stirred up. While I was laying in the pool I had an idea of crocheting seasonal fairy dolls. I went out today to by wing material for my summer girl. I wish so much I could go home and play. I will post photos shortly.
We did fairly good for our eating plan this weekend. I did make a vegan custard pie for dessert yesterday and I am watching the clock till break time when I can eat it. I am having watermelon for dinner and going really light tomorrow to prepare for Wednesday weigh in. My goal is a 1 pound loss that will put me at 153.3 -

@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Oh My Gosh!!! That piggy cake is just too delightful!
@gingerpwr what do you mean you didn't gain weight on your vacation!!! Wow! So impressive. I am so inspired with how well your doing. And I love your July game plan. We're always looking for progress vs perfection right?
@Cafelelia Happy anniversary! I am glad you are able to get a little rest and to celebrate!
@sleepymom5 sounds like you are finally getting a chance to be back to your old self. And look how skinny you are getting!
@lenka1 your weight loss is so steady just like before! great quote and great job! So glad you are back on our team.
@melaniedscott I have had these tea cups for awhile and never used them. Since I decided to start drinking 1 cup of coffee a week I thought they would be the perfect size for a small portion. They all have meaning to me. My mom gave me her wedding china, I had a best friend that was 85 when I was 50 and she gave me 3 of them (including the gold cup), 2 are from molly's mom and 1 from my aunt. Molly just brought be a pretty little yellow one today from storage that was her grandmas.
I am just craving a simpler time with lots of surrounding beauty. And a delicious cup of coffee!2 -
About a year ago I confessed to the team that I am not one for friends. I just don't really have any. Well that was then and this is now. Every day I jump on to this site to see what you all are doing. I am in awe of the wealth of friendships I now have. I feel very fortunate. You all have been there for me every day through every single occurrence in my life. When something comes up, I can't wait to share it with all of you. So this is what it feels like to have friends! XOXOXO8

@GingerPwr
Glad you're looking at what you're doing and seeing the progress, no matter how small you might think it is. I sometimes still have trouble with that too. Something for me to keep working on. Others always see my progress even when I don't.
As my trainer always tells me "progress not perfection" and "baby steps". I've worked with him 2 years and he still has to remind me of these things.2 -
Monday 7/20
Food: good
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minutes
Today my exercise was 20 minutes of resistance bands and 10 minutes of bodyweight exercises. It wasn't as much fun watching my heart rate monitor today since it didn't go up as much with the resistance band part of my workout but that's ok, it's still nice to be able to see it.
My book club is meeting in 2 weeks and I'm only on page 65 of a 400 page book. Guess I better get reading. It's called "Summer of 69" by Elin Hilderbrand.1 -
@tryingagain5
I have that book in my to-read stack. How do you like it so far?0 -
Some photos from our anniversary meal. Toronto is famous for carving out summer “patios” on whatever concrete is available. Our favourite bistro is on Dundas West and they don’t have a patio. So for the lockdown, they created a patio in the parking lane in front of their restaurant. Dundas is a fairly busy street, although less so right now. We had a wonderful time, eating French food right on the street, and waving to the street car passengers as they passed by. My younger boy had the time of his life. Our older boy was at distanced football practice, so we brought a steak home fo him. It was nice to find some fun in the midst of this terrible pandemic. Stayed within my target too!

@Cafelelia Happy Anniversary! Great pic. You have the best smile, your husband is a hipster, and your son is a love. I think there may be a Toronto news update today. I'm actually hoping we don't open up to soon. There's no room.
@jedaschultz Happy Anniversary! It's going around Enjoy life and family and good luck getting back into it on Wednesday!
@KristieJC Happy Camping! After that workweek, you deserve it. Enjoy hiking, biking, and chilling with the family.
@tryingagain5 Whoa! You're an inspiration. I agree with baby steps but when you do the stairs those are big steps!
@melaniedscott Hahaha. I'm glad your hubby liked the Pooh Bear meme. You remind me of my daughter. She has a lot of ailments and we were told they were the result of a genetic mutation, but there is no stopping her. She's strong, like you.
@minstrelofsarcasm Just one word. (ahem).
@Mrsbell8well Great china! Umm...may I suggest trigger warnings on the glorious food. I'm so hungry lately and am bound to end up turning my kitchen upside down at any hour of the day to replicate this gloriousness. But I'm serious too. I l.o.v.e. your kitchen conquests and am a little triggered by them too.
@ljdanny I feel you. I think I'm plateauing again. You know, there is a lot to be said about not going in the wrong direction. There is so much to do in life with children, grandchildren, jobs, and houses to maintain. We are doing great. Don't forget that. We're going forwards and not back, and we will hit our stride from time to time and then we will plateau. We have each other. I'm so happy to hear you're going back to Zumba.
@pacsnc6 I hope this week is going well for you. Your weigh is great and I see that you have some small side effects now. It's amazing how strong you've been and how your body has been so resilient up to now. Hang in there. You've got your family and community, including us. Big hugs.
@hope002 Way to go! You're so close to losing 50lb and are so sleek and toned. Awesome!
@KUMEcyclingteam Great loss and keep the humour coming. You crack me up (in the best possible way)! Are you sure you're not Canadian?
@lenka1 Wow! Welcome back to the 150s. Thank you for your post about pizza and balance. I really needed that.
@bburrer30 I hear you about plateauing. I'm entering into that phase again and it's normal. Maybe mix it up a bit. There's a counterintuitive school of thought about having a day a week where you eat up to maintenance level to trick your metabolism into thinking you're not starving. When I do it, I carve off some calories from the other days to eat up to that level. I'm not sure that's even necessary. No matter what you do, forgive yourself, it's not willpower. Then shake it off and shake it up.
@kirsten11872 You're rockin' it! Love your enthusiasm as you hit your stride.
@Zumba_Luvah Yay! Great loss and even more awesome pic. You look fit and happy.
@timibotkin I love how you said, "I don't think it's as bad as it looks." And you are so right. What a healthy relationship with the scale. Thanks for that. You're doing great!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Loved your Pigs in Mud cake. It would have had little effect on me. When I was little, I used to say, "Chocolate makes me gag." Hahaha. I've come to like it more but it's not a trigger for me.
@CassieGetsFit2013 Great attitude on the maintain. Do you feel better after feeling so unwell the other day? Were you able to see the doctor? Stay well.
@annliz23 I just picked up some lemon curd yesterday. We're in a heatwave and lemons are not seasonal at all here in Canada. I hear you about the belly fat. I think I need to switch it up and add some cardio into my workouts.
@twyla77 I feel like my weigh-day quote might have been meant for you. You're doing so well and going in the right direction. Progress is victory!
@brown6267 I'm inspired by your step totals! Now if I could only get moving.
Congrats to @kirsten11872 @tryingagain5 and @Mrsbell8well on your leaderboard success this week! Inspirational!5 -
@1theresamcvean I understand about the triggers. I can easily get carried away. I think there is a way to post optional viewing for those that would prefer not to peek. I will play with it. Or if anyone knows the answer?1

@mrsbell8well - I realized this too with posting photos of my baking. I am proud of my creations but realized I may be tempting people when they are hungry. Last time I posted my son’s birthday cake, I used the spoiler function so that the photo is hidden and you have to press on the spoiler to see it. That way, if people are feeling hungry and don’t want to view, they don’t press. The spoiler function is above the post box in the “backwards P” drop down. You simply post your photo in between the two spoiler words in square brackets. Hope that this helps. Love your food and photos, but I understand if some folks are tempted.0

Stress eating hit me hard yesterday, so I'm curious just how my weight will be affected in my weigh-day tomorrow... I'm tempted to log everything I ate, but sometimes peanut butter shouldn't be measured by the tablespoon, but by the heart.5
-
Monday check in
Food - on target, also on target for alcohol limit for night out
Water - 2l
Exercise - 30 min walk
Thanks for the anniversary wishes everyone. We had a really nice day and evening. Back to reality to today and I am doing some IF today. I just received my first “back to school” marketing email from a clothing company. Omg, this is surreal on a number of levels. It feels like summer just started, but I guess we are in the later part of July. Plus, we won’t know what “back to school” looks like until a about a week before back to school. Everything is just wonky this year.
@minstrelofsarcasm - I am so with you on the peanut butter. Don’t worry too much about one day of stress eating. Today is a new day and you can leave that behind you. Maybe hide the peanut butter today too!
@mrsbell8well - I love your new craft supplies!
@twyla77 - Nice maintain and hope that you are doing well now that you are back at work. I read in the news about some COVID spikes in Alberta and hope that you are staying safe. It happens here in Ontario too, and I guess it is our new reality.
@annliz23 - Outstanding day! I am so impressed by your steps!
@tryingagain5 - Good day again! Resistance training is and weight/body weight exercises are so important. I am trying to incorporate more in my own routine. Good luck with the book!
@1theresamcvean - I am with you on Phase 3. I feel no rush to get there. Phase 2 feels like a nice balance of things opening, but still having safe limits, particularly with our mask by-law (which is not in place in a lot of the province). The owners of the restaurant that we went to last night are from France, which is ahead of us in reopening. They said that in France, many owners are finding it hard to maintain safety standards inside bars and restaurants, so even though Phase 3 would be theoretically good for their business, even they don’t really want to see it happen just yet.3 -
@1theresamcvean
Yes, the stairs are definitely big steps. It's hard for me, which is why I'm doing it. Same as the running/jogging on the treadmill at the gym but since they're still closed where I am stairs are what it has to be for now.1 -
@pacsnc6
It's ok so far but if I don't finish it I won't feel bad about it since it's not holding my interest yet. The books I like the best are the ones that hold my interest from the first page and I don't want to put it down. I'm not finding that with this book.
Some of the others in my club that have finished it said it started off kind of slow but got better as they continued to read so I'll keep going. I now also have another week to finish since the lady who hosts it had a conflict with the date we had scheduled so it's been changed to the following week.1 -
@jedaschultz
Happy Anniversary!1 -
@lenka1
That's a great screen shot. There's definitely a part of weight loss that involves the mental aspect. Everyone is at a different place in their progress, either on the scale or in the mental aspect of it. Some of us (me) forget that any progress, scale or mental is progress. I tend to look at how far I still have to go instead of looking back and seeing the progress I have already made. Others always point out to me what I have done and tell me not to forget that because what you have done is just as important (or possibly more important since it shows that you are able to do it. That's not to say it won't be hard because it will be but as the saying goes "anything hard is worth it")
I guess that's why my trainer has to remind of the "progress not perfection" and " baby steps" all the time.2
