Tuesday check in
I'm ready to pretend July didn't happen so I'm moving right into Pre-August and planning to make August my best month yet.
I've been hovering at the same weight for almost 3 months, not because I hit a plateau but because I haven't put in the effort so it's time to get moving again.
Welcome to all the newbies. Looking forward to getting to know all of you.
@Katmary71 I wear my Fitbit on my ankle and don't consider it cheating as I have to physically take a step to make it count. And on a bike it only counts every other step so you're actually working twice as hard.
In our grocery stores the nutritional yeast is with the quinoa and unusual grains.4 -
@GretchenReine -- it happened. It's over. You took responsibility. Move on. That's one things I've been learning, although I still have a lot to learn- if you beat yourself up too much you won't keep going. Mistakes happen. Forgive yourself. Learn from them and get going again. You got this! And whatever happens with the scale tomorrow, you did a LOT of good things for yourself this month- don't forget that. Treat yourself with the kindness you share with others.
@trooworld- thanks for the Hugs- right back at you- here's some for you for your sleep {{HUGS}}
Welcome new members- you're gonna love it here!
A check in for today.... I did yesterday's exercise that was skipped today, plus today's exercise. I was not happy while doing it, but I feel great now! Eating is going better and I was reminded that exercising helps me feel less hungry- today that is certainly true.

Hi everyone! I was a wayward bunni, but now I'm back! When quarantine started, I had fallen so far off the wagon that I couldn't even see it anymore...lol! But now I'm working on re-instituting the good habits that helped me lose before.7 -
@anido1 Welcome to the group! Although we find that there are reasons that we "should" want to be healthy...sometimes our old habits outweigh those. I hope you find this group as welcoming as I have.
@MommaGemz How do I not beat myself up when I'm so used to doing it??? So far yesterday and today have been back on track. I'm hoping to keep things moving ahead.
@Cornanda It is definitely over! You are so right. I don't plan on making that mistake again! YUCK! How does exercising make you less hungry? Once I get my metabolism going by working out...I definitely feel more hungry! If I'm not active...I could probably go all day without eating. Great job getting your workouts in!3 -

I know, that's the key question, right? It can be so difficult to be kind to ourselves, and I can't say that I don't get down on myself as well. You had two great days back on track so that's something to celebrate - Yay!!

Welcome to all the new members!! We are so glad you are here and look forward to getting to know you. Please jump in and make yourself at home.
I wrote a long post to many of you yesterday and I think I forgot to hit post reply. Ugghhhh!! Anyway, I see that you have been helping each other and that is the beauty of this group. My day consisted of grocery shopping and cleaning my floors and doing laundry. I fasted 20 hours and will try to stretch it longer tomorrow. I really want a loss this week. As I know we all do!

Hey gang! Did a little reading this evening, also did some job hunting and applying....balance, balance... => Food is going well - not fabulous, but well enough to feel good about it. Trying to not eat into the deficit calories but I think I am on many days by about 50-150. I'm righting myself from a wicked week or some more so I am counting this as a win. Exercise is holding steady, over 10,000 steps the majority of days. Water and sleep - down! I'm not really gaining any ground here from mediocre effort.
So glad to see new members coming in! And @buniphuphu so awesome to see old friends! @Cornanda @GretchenReine and @MommaGemz you guys are leading the most important conversation there is for the journey, IMO - how do I talk to myself? How do I do that in a more productive way so that I can not get in my own way? How do I interrupt the negative chatter? I applaud you all - first step is asking the questions and keep asking, and Slims helping each other talk it out. Great job!! =>
Not exactly caught up but happy to drop in before going to bed....early(ier)!!!!!!

Did someone say something about tracking steps through rockfit or something link? I can’t find that thread. I’m all about steps. I have spent one week gearing up for this. Started last week at 200.3 lbs. I’m at 195.1 today. Hoping to get to 185 lbs by Halloween. I plateau easily. And what does eating into your deficit calories mean? Trying to walk in the fat burning heart rate target. My fitness pal isn’t converting my macronutrients 50-20-30 for carbs-fats-protein. It has the 20-30 backwards in my food diary. Anyone else had this issue? Also need to figure out if I am calculating my calories needed from Food correctly. I welcome a moderator or long time member phone call to walk me through. Don’t know how to get my number to you without making it public which I don’t want to do. Tha k you for an ear.2

I’m so ready to start with this group in August!! I just started yesterday to try and eat good and journal and already fell off the wagon today😭. I didn’t exercise as much as I planned to and ate more than I should have...grrrrrr!!!!! I need the motivation and accountability!3

@anido1 Welcome to the group! I'm also in CA, Sacramento area. Happy birthday! Tomorrow is a new day, you got this!
@Jactop by the quinoa is the one place I never would've thought of, thanks! It does make sense to use the Fitbit on the ankle, it drove me nuts at first because I love seeing my heart rate but it's usually wonky anyway so I'd rather have the steps.
@Tracey0088 Shoot, I don't have the link but look at the beginning of the month, @AustinRuadhain always does a post with the link in it in this thread, it'll be on the first or second page. Congratulations on the great weight loss! I think you mean as far as a deficit you stay under your calories as far as eating. For example on the webpage of MFP you go into the red when you go over the calories. That red bugs me even if it's wrong! With your Fitbit do you have it linked to MFP? If so, you'll get a calorie adjustment and get more calories for your steps. It's up to you if you want to eat them back or not. Just a head's up, I was given 1200 calories which is low and was biking 2 hours a day and not eating them back, after 5 months I was an exhausted mess until I started eating half of the calories back which made a huge difference in energy and workouts. That was pre-Fitbit too and MFP overestimates for biking, Fitbit is a better guide to go by at least in my experience. I've never adjusted my macros on here but on the webpage I know you can change the inputs I think under settings or goals, not sure off-hand how. I'm willing to talk to you but I'm not very technical, I kind of bumble along and get lucky or else my technology breaks, embarrassing being the daughter of a computer engineer but comes in handy since my dad can fix anything! If you'd like to talk I think you need to send me a friend request to message one another, that's the best way to send a phone number.3 -
Tuesday check-in
Calories- under
Exercise- arm cardio, belly dancing, hip hop, Fitness Marshall, Kundalini yoga, heart chakra meditation, earth energy healing, foam rolling, stretching/yoga/splits
Water- awesome!
Cardio 30 minutes- done
Abs/arms- didn't feel like doing, I'm not feeling arm weightlifting lately which is dumb since weight-lifting is the most visible difference in my body. I miss my leg muscles!
Yoga- done
Steps- 14,000
Not much new. I'm doing good with the new diet but almost panicked when I didn't know what I'd dip my artichokes in without mayo! Turns out (my new fav condiment) Trader Joe's pepita salsa is awesome on anything. I'd probably even like raw celery dipped in it and I hate raw celery! I'm struggling with the decision to take the next step and axe coffee, nightshades, onions, garlic, eggs. I don't want to since I don't have a ton of things to eat and love those, I'll see how my body responds this next week. I REALLY like doing earth energy meditation under the oak tree in the sun on the lawn with bare feet then picking and eating sun-ripened tomatoes. It would stink not to be able to eat my harvest!2 -

I paid for the weekend...but I knew I would. It's ok. I got back on the "no sweets" horse on Monday and haven't had them. I still haven't had sodas all month...which has been hard some days. Just a few more days of the month to see what my final number for July is. Overall...I'm still proud of myself for what I've done this month...and I'm not normally one to be proud of myself...ever!4 -
This is a very motivating read for me! 1455 calories is my BMR yet 2135 calories is my calorie need based on walking 4x week. I set my calorie goal at 1600 cal per day. Does this mean a net calorie loss of 535 a day? Am I eating enough at 1600 cal a day? Does the macronutrients of 50% carb, 20% Fat, 30% Protein sound ok? I am over on my fats most days but not terribly....like by 5-10%. I want to get this part of my self care right. I’ve never put this much effort into losing meaning macros. Thank you in advanced to all who help me square this up in my head.2
-
@anido1 @buniphuphu Welcome!
@Cornanda Thank you! I could use them!
@Katmary71 The earth energy meditations under the oak tree in the sun followed by picking/eating ripe tomatoes sounds so lovely.
@GretchenReine You should be proud of your efforts. You've put up a good fight and keep fighting for it.
@Tracey0088 I'm afraid I have no advice for you on your macros but I wanted to say WELCOME!
Hello everyone. Yesterday was pretty good, my WW points were over but I'm still within my points for the week so it's all good. I went for my daily walk in the morning, I finished my audiobook I was listening to. I started a new one from the library. I also drank enough liquids.
Monday
Calories: over/under: over
Water: over/under: over
Exercise: walk
Goals or Improvements for tomorrow: eat what is on the menu for dinner, 2 bottles (26 oz) of water2 -
Welcome @Tracey0088 @anido1 @LynnJ9 and @GabiV125 - And welcome back @buniphuphu
@anido1 - Don't stress yourself. Every day is a brand new day to stay on plan. 👍2 -
Another new Slimpossible! There is going to be a lot of "let's get this going" energy in here this coming month, I can tell! @harrismary225 is ready to roll and will be along shortly!2
-
FYI - still issues with the Fitrockr not updating steps. I just went in on my desktop and 11 out of 15 people (including me) had 0 steps.
I did hit Fetch Data and it updated my steps so far this week, so just remember to check in by the end of the weekend if you want them to count!!2 -
Hello! My name is Mary. I live in Alabama. I’m 25 and I’ve struggled with weight all my life. My current weight is 274.6 and my goal weight is 150. I am happily married. We don’t have any kids. We lost our beautiful daughter when I was 30 weeks due to a cord accident in April. I have dedicated myself to loosing weight obviously to be more healthy and to focus on something while my heart heals. Plus when we get pregnant again, I would like to be in the best shape possible.9

Weigh-In Day: Friday
Current Weight: 274.6
Previous Weight: 278
I’ve lost 3.4lbs since I’ve started MyFitnessPal on 7/24/20.6 -
Welcome to the Team @harrismary225 ! I can't imagine the pain you've been going through. This team is very supportive and caring, so if you're having a rough day - we're here for you!3
-
@GretchenReine -- I think 7.4 pounds down is a nice reward for all the hard work you did this month. And you're not even finished yet! Congrats!
@harrismary225 - ditto what MommaGemz said. I was struggling to figure out what to say to you.... my heart goes out to you.
Wed is going OK. Got a long walk in. Staying on track with food. Scale still looking bad. We'll see how it looks Friday and go from there.4 -
Hello, my name is Janine. I am 58 and a high school math teacher, wife and mother of 3 grown children.
3 years ago I started losing weight for what I planned was the FINAL time. I lost 47 pounds, and though I fluctuated up and back down by about 10 pounds I stayed within that range for 2 years. Then the stay-at-home isolation started and I began teaching online. By not walking around my classroom and campus, being alone all day with the pantry and refrigerator, I gained the COVID-19 pounds. I am now 150.5 pounds and I want to lose 22 pounds. I am still teaching online until after Labor day, though it will probably go into October.
I am so excited for the motivation and accountability of this group.

@LynnJ9 Welcome to the group, Janine. I am so happy to have you here! It has been very hard for us who have been staying home since the virus, so we understand. You will find lots of great motivation and support here.
@Cornanda You just keep up with your food and exercise and that weight will have no choice but to move on down.
@harrismary225 I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter. I lost my daughter a couple of years ago, so I know the ache that is in your heart. But you are taking great steps towards getting healthy and taking care of yourself. I so look forward to getting to know you.
@gwamajtw91 I say that Fitrockr isn’t working…again! I sent @AustinRuadhain a note to see what we should do.
@trooworld Look at you having a great day! I bet the scale will be smiling at you this week.
@GretchenReine You have done so awesome this month and we are VERY proud of you and I am happy to see that you are as well. You have been making such big changes by giving up soda and sweets. Giving up soda was very hard for me but now I’m rarely tempted, and I watch my mom drink a diet Coke almost every night with her dinner. I sure wish she would give them up.
@Tracey0088 Welcome! I am so glad you are here on our team! You are off to a great start and have a great goal for Halloween. Congrats on making it to Onderland! I am getting closer every day and can’t wait to join you.
@Katmary71 You are doing great giving up so much and changing your diet. Glad you found a yummy dip for your artichokes. I might need to go on over to Trader Joe’s and try that salsa.
@anido1 Welcome to the group! You will find great support and accountability here. I find motivation to be tricky for most of us because it comes and goes. Think (and maybe write down) why you want to lose weight and then make a commitment to yourself. One day at a time is my motto.
Hi Team! Can you believe that this month is almost over? I’ve been thinking about my August goals and I hope all are as well. I have three more weeks left for the workout program I am doing and it’s only going to get more intense, so I plan to continue giving it my all and finishing strong. I also plan to increase my fasting time more often. Next week I plan to do a 4:3 fasting schedule. Three days I will either fast the whole day or eat a 500 calorie or less meal. The other four days I will eat two meals. People have been having really good results and this girl is getting into Onderland by the end of August!!
I saw this on Facebook and thought it was perfect for us!
