@bethanie0825 - What a great weigh-in this week! You are kicking booty!
@DesertColibri - The martial arts school I study at is unusual. Our curriculum includes training in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Hapkido, Kung Fu, and Jiu Jitsu.
Your running sounds like such fun! I love running and do it almost not at all because of knee issues.
Oh, and by the way, I am a Garmin user, too. If you like having connections there, we can connect! I am Austin Ruadhain there, too.
@2020shih - Big hurray for those kitchen scales! I SO love your July plan!
@davors19 -- Good job holding steady!

@GretchenReine I hope July is better for you. No sweet and sodas are a good addition to your list. Do you have any rewards set up should you achieve your July goals?
@Katmary71 Going off all of those medications must have felt like a tremendous step forward, so I can see why it would feel like a step back now. Hopefully, it helps you and that will make up for it. Your nephew must have enjoyed making the pesto with his auntie. That's a good way to bond with him. I just bought a Thug Kitchen cookbook but haven't made anything out of it yet.
@MommaGemz Yes, exactly how I feel! Thank you I appreciate it. Sorry about the stress on your end, too. It's good you thought to pre-track everything out. You are doing great!!! Hang in there. Great loss!!!
@TeresaW1020 I know, right? Yes, the hotel is dog friendly but the problem is that my dog is not dog friendly lol. So, that will be tricky. Luckily, my dog is snack-sized so I can pick him up and carry him around so he can't attack other dogs. The hotel has a kitchenette with a dishwasher and a full-sized fridge. It's actually going to be pretty nice! Your Flatout pizza sounds like a perfect way to break a fast. Congrats on finishing the puzzle.
@cherrymajoni Congrats on reaching your personal best! Woo hoo!
@AustinRuadhain lol well I'm glad I have an audience in you at least lol!!!
@2020shih Great goals!
Hello everyone. Not much going on here. I made a salmon dish last night with a sweet chili sauce and pineapples. It was pretty good but as usual, I overcooked the salmon (we like it medium-rare). My husband does a much better job with salmon. I served it with some steamed broccoli. I slept pretty well, I actually got 8 hours of sleep for once. My goal is to get at least 7 1/2 hours a night. I have a free 90-day trial of FitBit Premium and am using a sleep program to better my sleep through that. It's helping me focus on better sleep.

@2020shih well done on keeping up with your targets, I too did no alcohol until I met my first target weight which I did a couple weeks back then celebrated with a bottle of Bailey's 🙈😂 but now am back on the no alcohol
@Austinruadhain thanks I'll check Jenny ford next time am low on steps
Thursday check in
Today lovely 5k morning walk at 7am then at 10am I joined Instagram 1hr live workout session it's with a PT £15 month subscription I joined yesterday.
Then general life up and down managed to meet my steps goal 13,000
Total calories burnt today 1188 🔥💥💥🔥
Unfortunately am still struggling with the sleep I managed to get 5hrs 24mins last night am hoping next week when my son is back at nursery my sleeping will be better as he'll get into a better sleep routine1 -
Hi everyone! I'm just going to do a quick check-in. I read all your post but I am honestly too tired to reply, so please forgive me. Hubby and I switched sides of the bed to see if that will help solve my shoulder that has been hurting for months. Well, my shoulder does feel better but I've had two nights of not sleeping well at all. It's like being in a hotel, so I should sleep fine tonight now that I'm getting used to a whole new side of the bed. I went to work today and the staff wanted to go to lunch so I broke my fast with Mexican and had wayyyy too many chips. Then my mom wanted Subway for dinner tonight and offered to pay. So, needless to say I will be fasting most of the day tomorrow.3

Week 1 weigh in Thursday (02Jul2020)
Previous weight:175.3
Current weight: 174.1
LTD MFP #2 60.9 lbs
LTD overall 125.9 lbs
Hi all, good weigh in, happy about it. Had a good day by some measures but not all. Water under, cals under the total but a little over the baseline of 1220 for a 1 pound a week loss. Sleep good - exercise....can we talk? I had a bad back episode last night where it was hard to stand/walk/sit. After a 9 mile bike ride before dinner, we came home and as I was just walking around with a hurty back and hip, something went *pop* in my lower back and SHAZAM was it painful the rest of the night. So hubby demanded that I take it easy for a week with less strenuous walks and bike rides. Uh. Yeah, sounds good. Butbut BUT - I don't want to take it easy!! Wow, I get it. @katmary71 this is just a taste of what you have been doing and, well, it makes me very unhappy to think of it! I know I need to, no point in going overboard and causing more delaying issues but I'm just. OVER IT is the best I have to say here and my attitude, despite being very real and sincere in feelings, is pointless. Just gotta get on board or keep suffering. Moment of solidarity for all of my team who are or may be facing the issue of having to back off from exercise for various reasons, thinking also of @vegan4lyfe2012
@TeresaW1020 the chips always get me at a Mexican meal! Throw in some guac and you had me at Olé!!
@cherrymajoni getting the sleep is so key - and then you feel so much better doing all of that training and running! Here's hoping you get several nights in a row as the holiday weekend approaches!
@trooworld we also like the medium rare salmon! When I am thinking ahead, I cook extra and then the next night I have 'adult salmon patties' and do them in the spirit of really good crab cakes. And for a binder, I use a little baked potato chunks! It's a trick I learned from a recipe I have long since lost but remember the best part of - does the binding without adding crackers or other bread and while it adds only a very mild falvor, it's really good and complimentary to the finished salmon cakes! You're always sharing great tips so I hope this is intriguing!
@AustinRuadhain hey - I don't know if you know this but your scary project dots just gained ground on you - they have multiplied!! Shazam, that is scary! Ahhhh, I sure do hope they are getting at least some lighter!! I al also one who really REALLY loves to make the goal/badge/bar - whatever silly thing is out there for motivation. Funny thing is.... IT WORKS!!
@MommaGemz whoohoo is right!! GREAT weigh in!! => I love your 2019 stats calendar, those are really amazing to look back on - and over 6 pounds for June is amazing, way to go!!
@davors19 hey, way to go, keepin' it green and STEADY!
@2020shih pretty awesome that the kitchen scales have become so routine for you, way to go!!
@vegan4lyfe2012 I also really love the new color cast....so sad for you that it is there at all!!!
@Katmary71 can't tell you how many times I have lost a long post, it is quite the dang mood killer. QUITE.

What a disgusting jumping off point. I guess I have to start somewhere.
Today is my day 1 of my July goals! I'm all set and ready to go. I think. I'm a bit scared as I have had a really hard time sticking with goals lately. Life has just bitten me in the *kitten* so bad for the past year or so...and I've slipped into a funk that I just can't get out of. I added 2 more goals to my July goals. I took my time contemplating them before adding them because I wasn't sure if I could/would commit to them. However, after much thought I added no sweets and no sodas.
I'm excited and scared for July. This year has not been as good as I was hoping 2020 would be. Honestly, 2019 was a *kitten* and I went into 2020 thinking that it couldn't be as bad as 2019...boy did it prove me wrong. So...here's hoping the 2nd half shows some improvement.
My son works at at gym, (fitness club is what he calls it) and he wants me to join it. I have a fitness center at work and it's not a bad little place but I do find that when I have the convenience...I don't utilize it as much as I probably should. So, do I invest in myself and spend the money? I guess I have a decision to make before my next payday. I do find that working out at the fitness center at work has me a little self conscious and so I kind of tone it down a bit. I haven't even attempted to jog on the treadmill because I already sound like a herd of elephants while walking on it and I'll be embarrassed as can be if someone sees me trying to jog and I can only go for a minute or so at a time. Maybe a gym where no one knows me is the better option.
@GretchenReine this so spoke to me - a little heart wrenchng, a whole lot gut wrenching. =< It's a major suck - a major suck that will get better and will improve because you have solid goals and there are actions behind them so...that's how it happens. And I know you know all that but - as one who has had that step onto the scale, just knowing and dreading but biting that bullet anyway - I just wanted to acknowledge it.
The days since and the days coming will be better and we're going to be here cheering you on and celebrating every bit of it with you. Hang tight, steady the course and do those actions for you...from YOU to YOU.
You deserve all the best you have and can give - for you and your goals.5 -

@AustinRuadhain lol! I'm glad I could give you a giggle! Yes, sleep makes an amazing difference and it's been very difficult for me lately.
@TeresaW1020 Sorry you are having sleep issues, too. I hope it helps to switch sides of the bed.
@raleighgirl09 I'm sorry about the hurty back and hip. It's good that you take a rest for a week and re-evaluate. Please take care of yourself! Yes, medium-rare salmon is the way to go! Your adult salmon patties sound really yummy! Yes, this is very intriguing...I have never made salmon patties before, but you make me want to make them!
@TeresaW1020 I'd consider it a win if you ate tortilla chips anywhere near your weigh-in day! lol Woo hoo!
Hi all! I'm hanging in over here. Trying not to be a stress case. I'm making something from a new cookbook tonight (Thug Kitchen: The Official Cookbook...it has a lot of bad language in it but if you can get past that, the recipes look good). I'm making Black Bean Tortas with Coconut Chipotle Mayo. It should be good! In other news, we are going to be able to stay in our house throughout the process of the bathroom remodel (most likely), as they didn't have to take out the toilet after all. That makes us very happy!

Friday check in
Here we are - July 4th holiday, wooooohooooo!! Had a moment last night and racked up an extra 425 calories at the end of the day, logged those this morning.... =< And I don't think I reported this to you guys but in the last, ohhh maybe 5 weeks, I have had 2 instances of sleep eating. Yes - I know it sounds kinda crazy. 4 or 5 weeks ago and then about 2 weeks ago, I got out of bed....from a sleep state but at the moment it felt as if I had been awake. Went into the kitchen and had a snack and at some point while eating, I realized that I was sooo, soooooo, soooooooo TIRED! I *think* that was when I was coming back to an actual awakened state, not the half in, half out state I got out of bed with. So, I'm going to just leave this right here because that is some cray-cray stuff and I have been thinking about it but honestly not sure how to process it. I Googled it to see if it was even a thing and saw some more wackoness than I have had so, there is that. Feeling better by not being as bad off as some other folks. Let's call it a coping mechanism and move along.
I felt good this morning so took a walk before it got too hot, a little over 2 miles and 6,000ish steps. I'll probably leave it at that and likely get to the 10,000 steps goal just with moving about because I have some things to do. No pains or woes from it - that, by its very definition, constitutes a Good Day in my eyes.
Have pre-planned and pre-logged today's food, have my firs 4 cups of water beside me, got great sleep. Seems to be a good day stacking up! YAY me!!
@trooworld so thrilled you don't have to move from your house for the reno!! Most excellent news! For the adult salmon patties (the other kind coming from canned salmon, still quite delish but a very different thing), I carefully mix my barely broken up cooked salmon and add in one beaten egg and some finely diced onion and some diced baked potato flesh. I add pepper and salt could be added - and any fresh herb you like such as minced parsley or cilantro, the green really gives a nice flavor. The key is for it to be able to make a patty but, like crab cakes, you want chunks of the meat and not a lot of filler. Minced peppers would be good, as well. I like panko pressed on the sides and a gentle saute in some light olive oil, can also be done or finished in the oven with less oil.
@TeresaW1020 excellent weigh in!! It's good to have a splurge sometimes and those were good ones! Way to go keeping it green!
@DesertColibri and @Katyjcrafts you guys are ROCKIN' IT solid.....fantastic week 1 weigh in and progress!!! WOOT!3 -

@DesertColibri and @trooworld - I don't actually eat much out of Thug Kitchen, but they are more fun to read than just about any other foodies I can think of! For the curious -- their website will give you a good idea as to whether their idea of fun lines up with yours.
@trooworld - Yay to being able to stay in your house! As someone who has stayed in my house through remodeling a bathroom, I wish you all the best.
@TeresaW1020 - Yay to being down despite eating out twice yesterday! And double yay to being down over 55 pounds!
I so hope your shoulder is getting better.
@DesertColibri -- Woohoo! You are in the 150s now! That is so amazing! Happy hiking!
@Katyjcrafts - WOW! Amazing weigh-in!
@raleighgirl09 - Yes, my dots did multiply. And I undid that today. I think I need to stick to "at least one thing" father than having dots for ALL the things for the projects. Too discouraging otherwise. I keep reminding myself -- we get better by being happy! So onwards with baby steps and celebration in the moment I get something done. I have been slacking on that and it truly does slow down the momentum.

Hi y'all! Please bear with me as I'm getting used to logging into MFP and groups again and tend to forget where I'm going and what I'm doing.
The support of this group is absolutely amazing. I was tearing up as I read the comments. The hard work everyone puts in is so inspirational.
I have successfully completed 2 days of my goals which feels great. I know there will be days that will be awesome and some that will be sucktacular. I have never tried to cut out sodas before (Diet Coke = oxygen) and so the fact that I haven't missed it yet is kind of weird for me. I haven't missed sweets either although I know the day will come where I'll crave it. I am a carbon-based lifeform after all. I have cut out sweets for over a year before and came out of it alive (obviously).
I showed my son my goals and he thinks they are rather aggressive. He said it's a whole lot of "NOs". I told him it's only 2 but he still thinks it's a lot for me. He's a big fan of moderation. I don't think it's that he doesn't believe I can't do it...it's just that he doesn't want me to limit myself and then if I slip up then I just give up. He thinks I should allow myself a soda once a day or two or whatever. I'm still sticking with the NO for now. I gave a lot of thought to my goals before I added them...and I think I can do this.
I am going to add self love to my goals. I don't remember where I saw it...must've been a different page...but I remember seeing someone suggest it for me. I know I'm very hard on myself. I always have been. I've done better the past couple of days as I've been working on pushing myself on my other goals...so hopefully this one will be easier to add!
And reward??? No, I haven't even thought of a reward. I guess I really should consider a reward. Hmmmmmm. I don't have a clue!!!
Getting my steps in on the holidays and weekends are toughest because they are the laziest days. I am going to join the club that my son works at so at least I'll have treadmills that I can use. My family will most certainly help hold me accountable. They have a tendency to be a nudge! LOL I know my son will definitely make sure that I go workout!!! He's always been a big supporter of his momma!!! So far...I'm feeling pretty good about this!4 -

Our group has been busy, wow!
@2020shih Great plans, I just got my new food scale in, I panicked when mine broke after 18 months of using it for everything! I didn't know what the apricot slices weighed and was really freaked not weighing chicken breasts for a recipe. I may be a little too dependent on it!
@trooworld Post what you make from the Thug Kitchen cookbook, I've only made the one recipe but loved it, it's probably my next cookbook though I love Skinnytaste's too, I don't want to return those to the library!
@katyjcrafts Big drop, way to go!
@DesertColibri Congratulations on achieving such a big milestone!
@raleighgirl09 Sleep eating must be so frustrating, I have no clue what is recommended for it so I can't advise you, maybe eating something filling before bed or visualization/self-hypnosis to calm your self-conscious? That would drive me nuts, it's hard enough being on track when awake! I hope this stops happening.
@AustinRuadhain How is that home office going? You've been working on that for awhile, I bet it looks great!
@GretchenReine It sounds like your son is great at encouraging you. I didn't add anything like self love until the end of losing weight, I think it will help a lot at accepting yourself as you are, more weight or not. Diet soda's been weird for me, I grew up on it and can't stand sugary soda. If I buy it I drink it like crazy, it doesn't make me crave food but more soda. I usually just get one on grocery shopping day as a treat for not getting junk but the guy I'm seeing drinks it too so I drink it more when he's here but still drink a ton of water. Congratulations on breaking the habit!
@cherrymajoni Wow, incredible drop in weight!
I'm sorry to those of you I missed, I can't sit normal at the keyboard and have my feet up on my desk so it's hard to make out names. I love meeting all of the new gang!

@Cornanda, (((hugs))) was this a rough week for you? Can you pinpoint what you need to do to turn it around? Or was it worth it? You know sometimes a weight gain is worth it and therefore we shouldn’t feel bad about it.
@cherrymajoni, WOW!! What a great week you had!! Please give us your best tips for what went so well for you?
@GretchenReine, you so right that we have an awesome group with very supportive members. Way to go at being successful with your goals. Giving up Diet Coke and sweets is so hard! I don’t think you have too many no’s on your list but I do agree that it’s a good idea to not just have a no but replace it with something positive. Adding self-love is perfect and it’s also wonderful that you have such a loving and supportive son!
@raleighgirl09, my ex-husband would sleep eat and it always freaked us out. He usually did when under a lot of stress. Are you under a lot of stress or taking any new medications? Did you at least clean up after yourself? Sorry, couldn’t resist!!
@trooworld, Mmmm coconut and chipotle are like two of my favorite flavors! Never thought to put them together in mayo. That is sooooo great that you don’t have to leave your home!! It is no bueno living in a hotel with a husband and a dog. I know!!
@DesertColibri, yayyyy on making to the 160’s!!! Keep your eye on the prize!
@katyjcrafts, Wow what a great weigh in your had this week!! Can you share with us what you did that went so right for you?
Hi everyone! Well, I had a fairly uneventful day. Did a good workout this morning and a little housework. Hubby had to return something to Kohls and came home with the cutest pale pink blouse for me. It was a 1X and I was like, “I don’t know if that will fit” and he was like, “I think it will.” And it did!! Perfectly in fact. I will wear it to church this week. Also, since it’s wine Friday (or at least it is in my house ) I am having red wine spritzers so that I can drink my wine but not have as many calories. I call it a win-win wine night!2 -
Friday check-in
Exercise- seated cardio/boxing, arm weights, yoga, foam rolling
Calories- hopefully under, I'm trying to stop binging at night when I'm in a lot of pain and using medical marijuana makes it worse!
Water- rockin it!
Habits
Cardio 30 minutes- done
Weights- done
Yoga- done
Recipe- made the Giant Parmesan Turkey Meatball again, that thing is a huge hit, everyone is telling me I'm an awesome cook, I love it! I just swap out the parsley in the meatball with basil then put both on top. I think I posted the recipe before, if not here it is: https://www.skinnytaste.com/giant-turkey-meatball-parmesan/
Steps- I'm at 8,000 but my goal is over 10,000 which is technically my arm cardio.
Quick intro for those of you that don't know me: I'm Kathy, I'm 48 and live in the Sacramento area. I've been disabled from back problems/pelvic nerve damage from the waist down for 25-30 years and was bedridden for most of that. A few years ago I went off all the pain meds I was on through pain clinics, was diagnosed with depression, and started to ease back into moving around again. Last year I lost the last of 100lbs, started working out, and went back to college. I really worked out like a beast last year but this year I ran into problems with my nerve damage again and currently can barely walk or stand. It's not going to keep me down for too long, I have ideas on things to try just need to give it time to see what I respond to. I'm currently deficient in a bunch of vitamins and have had symptoms of being so for a few years, so far my knees aren't as locked up so bending my legs is a little easier and my brain is starting to work again. Next up is nerve pain medication. To make life even more complicated I started seeing a high school friend I hadn't talked to since I was 17 during COVID to make me even more emotional! Seriously, so far that's going well, it's just a confusing time to start seeing someone but luckily I'm really comfortable around him and he gives great compliments that don't make me feel as much as a loser as I've been feeling like with all this emotional eating and gaining weight. I'm close with my family, have two amazing nephews that I love to pieces. I've been in this group for over a year now, I didn't think it was that long but came across a picture of the rutabaga/apple/onion bake @AustinRuadhain gave me the link to on my phone the other day, that was really good!3 -
Hello everyone --
The F2F Moderators have an announcement that is both sad and happy. We would like to thank Lisa @cafelelia for her wonderful service as a Moderator since December. Lisa has decided to step down due to family and professional life, the changes due to COVID-19, and wanting to concentrate her energies on her own wonderful team, WeightNoMore. We will miss her wise words, her awareness of the intricacies of the human interactions in a community such as F2F, and her wonderful sense of humour. It was fantastic working together, particularly through the big changes from December to January, and I'm sure we'll be asking her advice from time to time even if she is no longer taking on the weekly tasks she has so aptly performed.
Thank you Lisa! We will miss you as Moderator, but your team will be extra happy to have you all to themselves!
Best wishes from @jugar @Beka3695 and @TeresaW1020 - I am sure everyone on F2F wishes you well Lisa!!!!6 -

Saturday check in
Hi Slims! Happy 4th of July to all of my US brothers and sisters! And Merry Saturday to my pals in other countries....cause I want everyone to enjoy Saturday!!
Having logged the food I had after dinner last night (about 11:30 after returning from a yard gathering, so really - way past dinner) I checked back. It's the third day I have just randomly had snacks at night. I'm glad to recognize the pattern, just not very happy to see it present itself. I may have been trying to eat too few calories and backlashing...? I don't know for sure but this is also after having weighed the lowest in many years and that, too, is also part of a pattern. The 'do well and then take steps to kinda eff that up' pattern. Throw in a holiday weekend at the coast when we'll see folks - and tonight is a bbq so that can be tricky to navigate - and it isn't hard to predict how this could go. Could. Does not *have* to go that way. So - that's me and my thought work for the day/week and working to not just randomly eat, all the while also trying to not feel like I have to resist with all my might. Because that is not sustainable and eventually I 'give in' to whatever I was resisting.....I need to find another way, another approach. This is not an instance for which more willpower is needed - it's a time to figure out why I need willpower and work on that.
@AustinRuadhain I agree completely - we get better by being happy. So much wrapped up in that statement! The power that negativity can have over the trajectory of our goals and plans is huge - and can be debilitating in ways we don't even see at the time. I often imagine you doing your celebrations - smiling for yourself and being thrilled with the tiny habit accomplished....
@GretchenReine what a gift to have a son who is aware of what people working to better themselves physically are going through!! And what fun to be able to talk to our kids as people...I love this with my adult kids. => And when you assess your goals and results, you can tweak as needed or keep doing what you're doing because it worked - I love it that you already did this by considering your son's advice and recognizing that you put a lot of thought into the goals and you want to give those a chance. It's not all or nothing and not a never-changing proposition. Understanding the freedom of working goals and actions in that way makes it much easier because then the process is fluid and flexible. Self-love: finding ways to appreciate and love who you are right now will make the journey easier.
@cherrymajoni great day - way to go on the 5k work!!
@Cornanda hang in there, keep at it...
@2020shih and @digger61 way to maintain!!
@TeresaW1020 I love that hubby came home with a blouse - how immensley sweet is that!!!! => So many times, we don't see progress the way others do, very awesome feeling to be so pleasantly surprised!
@katmary71 I am going to one day do that meatball, the recipe looks so amazing!1 -
@DesertColibri Oh, I'll have to check out their Instagram, thanks! I made the black bean torta with coconut chipotle mayo last night for dinner but we made it into burritos instead of tortas. It was super good and easy to make.
@raleighgirl09 Wow, sleep eating! That's bananas! How's your hurty back and hip today? I'm thrilled we don't have to move out, too! So for the salmon patties, you would take maybe a pound of the salmon? How much baked potato flesh? Yummers!
@AustinRuadhain It's not easy, I can say that right now. You know that though. But the alternative is to leave the house unattended and the thought of sketchy people walking by and possibly noticing it unattended makes me nervous.
@Katmary71 I made the black bean torta with coconut chipotle mayo. We ended up putting it in a tortilla as a burrito because I did grocery pickup and the sandwich rolls I ordered for pickup were tiny and it would have been messy. The burritos were really tasty! We added cheese, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. There are actually a lot of good-looking recipes in the cookbook that I can't wait to make. On Sunday, I'm making the Sweet Potato, Squash, and Black Bean Enchiladas from the same cookbook. I might add cheese, I don't know. Maybe I'll give the recipe a shot as-written. I've heard good things about Skinnytaste cookbooks, too!
@TeresaW1020 Yeah I'm surprised it came out so good. I'm very happy we didn't have to go to the hotel. The dog wouldn't have liked it! Congrats on the 1X! I love wine spritzers, I drink them frequently as my relaxer lol.
Hello everyone! Happy 4th of July! Since today is my weigh-in day, I usually kind of have a high-point/calorie day on my weigh-in day and today is no exception. For breakfast/brunch/lunch, we are having filet mignon eggs benedict with hashbrowns. Dinner, we are doing it vegetarian-style: Texas BBQ-Style Seitan + Baked Beans + Instant Pot Quick Potato Salad. As for what I'm up to today, just housework and reading. It's too hot to do anything else!
