Sounds like a beautiful weekend in store for you! A candlelight rock orchestra gig? As an audience member or as a musician? Sounds like the latter and I didn't know that was part of TinkerBellang !1

Just as audience members, I should be allowed absolutely nowhere near instruments for other peoples aural health!3 -
Sounds amazing still! I'm a bit the same on the instrument front. But I was married to a drummer for many years and that gave me the opportunity to develop my ability to carry drums after gigs3

Is that like weight training?!?!?!1

I didn't have the most successful of weekends in terms of portion control, however I was very active last week compared to recent months, this is largely due to putting a walking challenge up on an app at work to do a 303km virtual walk between our office and our group HQ so I've been getting out a bit more during lunch break and evenings.2

Good start, Tinkerbellang. With the warmer weather being more active will help us all (except for those living where warmer turns to unbearably hot in a blink!).
Rather than portion control, "extras" are my problem. Or continuous meals - which I guess is a bit like portion control?
Yesterday I thought maybe I should just try not eating "extras" (mostly sweets for me) and I would probably do quite fine. But probably not. No doubt my body (hamsters) will probably start demanding extra calories from other places.
Control.
Such a simple word to spell.4 -
I feel you on the continuous meals front, I graze a lot on weekends, particularly if I am bored or stressed.
I am trialling Glucomannan supplements, I am not expecting any miracles but understand that the fibre content helps with feeling fuller and the Chromium it's paired with helps with regulating blood sugars so can reduce sugar cravings. Cost the same as a couple of multipacks of chocolate so not going to be too out of pocket if it's just expensive pee.
I ate a little better this week and have kept up the activity levels - I have an app from my health insurance company that scores me for overall health (based on activity, sleep, mindfullness, nutrition, physical health, etc). My score for March/beginning of April was hovering around the 590 mark (out of 1000) and is now back up to nearly 700 the last 30 days. So I am happy with that.
Lets see how I get on with my snacking this week. I am going to aim to log everything properly this week as my logging is still a bit lackadaisical and also to start writing up my weekly meal plan.3 -

I graze more during the week since I work from home and my desk in right outside of the kitchen. Not a great set up, but in a city one bedroom apartment, I didn't have a lot of choice on where the desk could go. Plus I eat when I am stressed or bored which both happen with this job (it seems like it is always all or nothing when it comes to what I have to do). Been trying to ask myself "Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Are you bored or stressed?" to make sure I am only eating when I am hungry. Still working on that.3 -

I tried something similar asking myself "would I eat broccoli right now?" to gauge if I was genuinely hungry and 9/10 I was not, didn't stop me still eating though unfortunately 😂3 -
Research still might help - long term. All these little bits of self-awareness will (should?) eventually add up to create a framework to support our new habits and ways of dealing with stress/boredom?

I hope everyone had a relaxing and productive weekend?
I was over in London for an old job reunion, so although there was indulgence I was too busy to emotionally/boredom eat and I walked for miiiiiiilllles.3 -
Sounds pretty lovely! It’s nice when you can have an experience that feels like normal celebratory eating without things getting out of hand.2
-
How many miiiiiiillllllllles is miles? And is a mile a mile if you walk many miles? or would it be 1.6 kilometers???!?! :hmmmm?????
Sounds like fun though! Hope Laurie is feeling a bit better? And @Athijade too! Yo Yooly-ster!Yo lurk-sters!
I need to get out a bit more!2 -
I’m here 😜1

Go on and run away from that desk and get outside, PAV. I hope you have clear air and sunshine….1

How about highly overcast and about to rain?
I was ready to call it a day after taking 20 minutes to get everyone in the car!
Looks like the alley is a good pathway for the workers at a major construction project down the road and it connects the project to McDonald's
So the alley contains fresh french fries, friendly people willing to share, squirrels, and the occasional lamb chop bone near the territory of the dog we like to dominate, Not to mention peanuts in the shell near more squirrel territory! As I said by the time we achieved car I was ready to Call it a day and go hide under the desk1 -
That does not sound like the bucolic paradise I had in mind for your outing1
-
IKR?!?!?!?!?!!? I had to go "THROUGH THE ALLEY OF **KITTEN**" in order to get her special-ness into the dang car to GO to the bucolic outing!!!!
I was heading right, uphill, towards the parked car... she was heading left, downhill, to the fry totters and smorgasbord down the hill!
I am about to attempt the gauntlet again!!!!!!!! Thankfully I don't think there are fry totting workers meandering around at THIS time!!!!
Just roasted lamb chop bits down the hill? I mean WHO buys lamb chops and then throws the bones at the side of a fence?!?!?!?!!? And squirrels? And peanuts?
I think we're marching to the car in full scruff mode this time!!!!2 -

16kms in total on Friday, about 5km each day Saturday & Sunday. A mile is a miiiiiiillllllllle if you walk many (spoken with a whiny tone).3 -

I'm alive. Work has just been crazy of late. It is a very busy time of the year for my position so I have been working extra hours and just not had much free time this week or last week.
My foot is still hurting quite a bit. I spoke to my doctor about it last week and she did not think an Xray was worth the cost. Broken or not the advice would be the same, stay off of it. Which for me is hard to do because I walk pretty much everywhere. Even if I take the bus or train I have to walk to the stop/station. So I am doing the best I can, but not stopping my life for it.
It does stink because I really want to start up workouts again and I just can't. Too painful for that.
Working on my meal list for next week, though it will be a work in process until after I go to the big Farmer's Market Saturday morning. I have plans this weekend since it is a holiday and I am off Monday. So I can actually do things and still have a day to rest back up.4 -
Enjoy your long weekend. But do take it easy on the painful foot! Those kinds of things take time to heal.2

Let's make a deal on the breaking us front and put a bit of a pause on it!🥺1

Interesting research on how obesity changes the brain - maybe permanently! Kind of explains why it’s so hard to maintain weight loss.

Interesting read, though I note they only checked if there was improvement after weight loss through diet only, many people (though not all) would increase activity/exercise when attempting weight loss which does improve Dopamine levels.
In my opinion and from my own personal experience many people regain weight because they choose short-term unsustainable ways of eating / intense workouts that they can't integrate into life long term.
It also takes a lot of emotional bandwidth - particularly for those of us who emotionally or stress eat so it's one of the first things to fall by the wayside when life throws other issues at you.2 -
Obviously more research to be done here. However I can relate to the notion that my internal satiation meter is permanently broken. I just never get the signal that I’m full/done and will eat well beyond my body’s needs.2

I have the same issue, I don't think it's a permanent problem for me, just one that needs a lot of brain work putting in, rather than physical/diet work, but I think that's more the exception than the rule for the general population.1
