Monday August 10th
Monday Weigh In: 192.7 lbs down 2.6 lbs this week! hoorah!!! 195.3 lbs last Monday.
Son’s wedding Friday night. I had nearly 26k steps that day. I stayed under my calories all week! I walked 5 of the 7 days averaging around 16k steps. I took the weekend off from walking. My feet and Achilles are just a bit sore. I ordered a pair of Million Air Fly wedge Sketchers to lift my heel. I have a long history of feet/Achilles issues and ha w been doing great for over 7 years with little to no exercise. As soon as I start walking or exercising they flare. I wear custom orthotics but still slight flare. I’ll see how the airs do. Coming in on Wednesday.
This week I will try to repeat last week’s efforts since it did me well in weight loss.
Hope everyone is doing well and pushing themselves to ride this journey out this month.
Net Calories for the week 8,136. Definitely right on target for the weight I lost this week.
Self care chart was fairly good. Kind of took a break this weekend also.5 -
@Tracey0088 Nice loss! All that walking really paid off!

I woke up feeling guilty that I fell off the wagon and didn’t do much this weekend. I started reading all that I missed and silently happy that I wasn’t alone in the struggle. I was also pleasantly surprised that I actually lost a pound considering what I ate in the last 2 days and hardly moved from the couch😬. It’s a new week and I hope I can get my butt moving again!7 -
@anido1 Congrats on your one-pound loss! Sometimes the scale will surprise us...in a good way!

@trooworld Yeah, I understand completely how crazy family dynamics can be.
YES!! I got the crazy monster. See below!
@buniphuphu Good I’m glad that you got a scale that you like and I agree that it's good to treat yourself. Congrats on your loss! You are doing great!!
@Tracey0088 Congrats on your great weigh-in!! I hope the new shoes will help your feet.
Hi Team! Well, today was busy. I went and did some shopping and took my mom to the eye doctor. I also worked out. This is my final week with the hybrid Barre/weight lifting calendar so next week I start something brand new. I’m ready for a change and a new trainer. I broke my fast earlier than usual today and I really need to stop doing that. Tomorrow, I’m setting a goal of a minimum of 21 hours, which means I’m NOT eating until 1:30 pm. I can do it! Yesterday, I bought this amazing puzzle for $40 from a woman off FB Marketplace. If you can even find it new it will cost well over a $100. It’s called Bizarre Town and it’s going to be intense!!
I hope to start it in a couple of days. Gotta finish the current one first.

@anido1 We're all in this together! Seeing others' struggles can really help you know you're not alone in this. Congrats on the loss!3
-
@raleighgirl09 Thank you! My goal is 1.5 pounds a week so I was pleased!
MFP stopped posting my weight losses 2 years ago. I was upset at first, but like you, I realized it really didn't matter. Once in awhile I will post my loss myself so my friends can see my progress.
Congratulations on hitting that milestone! I love hitting those new tens!3 -

Overall not a good week but no time me for self pity. Congratulations to everyone meeting their weekly goals. I am hopeful to get moving this week.6 -
@GretchenReine You've got this, one day at a time!
@trooworld I'm so sorry for your loss, I missed that the other day. Even with a complicated relationship it's hard to lose someone you care about.
@anido1 Congratulations on the unexpected weight loss! If I'm having a hard time getting moving I'll put on a fun song and dance or put on my "warm up" cardio song then tell myself if I'm not up to it after one song then I can quit. Usually by then I'm having fun and fired up so I keep going!
@TeresaW1020 What a cool puzzle! Ravensburger has the best-looking puzzles, I've spent a lot of time checking them out as they have a lot of cool fantasy ones I love. What type of workout are you going to try next? I love trying new stuff, I miss trying different genres of dance each day or a new video. I'm SO tired of the same instructors, it's wonderful to have new energy to follow.
@LynnJ9 Definitely post your weight loss, it's something to brag about! I noticed after gaining from pain anxiety eating I'm not getting recognition on the way back down now. It's disappointing though I don't mind that it didn't tell everyone all the weight I'd gained!
@bakatit8gn19 OK, but this is a new week, time to kill it my friend!3 -
OK gang, I can laugh at myself. My laptop is having issues making an awful drilling noise which makes meditating outside impossible as it drives me nuts. The guy I'm seeing said it was probably the drive crashing so I've been stressed after needing it soon for school plus I just replaced the screen but I let him listen to it today. He asked about the CD player and when I flipped it over a piece of straw was flapping around from the fan! OMG, I would've been so embarrassed taking that in for repairs! I feel kinda dumb with him seeing it but he didn't know either. Guess that's a possibility doing yoga and meditation on the grass! My Fitbit though IS genuinely screwed up, I'm going to have to get a replacement. I don't have a single electronic I haven't had problems with especially since COVID and my ice maker is still sending random cubes out so it's probably something wrong with me like energy I give off.
Monday check-in
Calories- under I hope! My Fitbit died right before 90 minutes of cardio and didn't come back up and I don't log yoga or meditation so I didn't get steps or calories burned.
Exercise- arm cardio, resistance band arms and legs for the splits, yoga, Kundalini kriya meditation, earth energy healing
Water- great
OK, it's freaking AWESOME having someone to go to Costco with! I stuck him with the cart while I dodged people to get everything, made him lift the cat litter, and he brought everything inside for me. Of course this is all stuff "I" can NORMALLY do just fine and take a lot of pride in (aside of pushing the cart, Costco sends my blood pressure through the roof dodging people who aren't paying attention and I'd gladly let someone else deal with that). Of course he likes all my favorite drinks, I have Diet Pepsi I can't drink in the house, coffee cream, and parmesan bagels, they smell so good! And their food is way high calorie, the only thing I could have was the fruit smoothie as it's only fruit. His chicken bake looked delicious. I hate my freaking body! Why can't I get away with stuff like that????

Another day with goals achieved! Thinking about setting an additional goal as I am doing well with the current two...I’m not convinced about whether to try intermittent fasting a few days a week or have a few non carb days...2
-
Katmary71 if you went through some Fitbits, you already know this, but saying it for the group, as long as the Fitbit was purchased from a recognized affiliate , you can get a replacement . I got one once from Groupon that was not replaced.
I feel naked without my Fitbit, so I understand your frustration, and to die right before a great workout... double frustration.2 -
My day, so and so. As soon as I bragged about having a good week, my husband stepped on a nail Sunday. He’s the alpha, so no doctor obviously, and now I’m changing the bandage couple times a day.
Maybe because I’m out of my comfort zone, or because my oldest goes back to school next week, but boy oh boy it’s so hard to stay away from the fridge. I’m already up a pound since Wednesday.
It might be lame but my strategy for today is to cook them what they like and I don’t. Then I’ll eat that, not something else like before, so I won’t be tempted for seconds.1 -

Happy Tuesday!
@TeresaW1020 - wow- that's an amazing puzzle. You'll have to tell us how long it takes you to complete it.
@trooworld - hang in there! I sure hope this week starts looking better for you!
Things have been a bit weird here and I have been doing some emotional eating. My daughter was exposed to Covid last week. She has not developed any symptoms. Wed she will be getting a rapid test done- if she's negative than she can get out of quarantine. She has been confined to her room so she doesn't give it to any of us. This is not how she planned to spend the end of her summer vacation.
Both of my young adults are going to the same university. We are moving them in 8/22, so just over 10 days to go. Previously I had been stressing quite a bit about the upcoming empty nest. I'm feeling more ready now. It's going to take some adjusting-- when my son left I shut his door and stayed out of that part of the house for awhile. It made me sad to see his empty room. Once that hump is passed, I am feeling excited for Husband and I to be able to do our own stuff.
I guess the rest of the month will be a bit of a roller coaster for me. I have resolved to be kind to myself and not stress about my weight loss journey. I will continue to watch what I eat and track it, but I will not get focused what the scale does.

@TeresaW1020 I love Ravensburger puzzles! They are a great past time during pandemic!
@bakatit8gn19 You've got a great attitude for the coming week! You can do it!
@Katmary71 I hate tech problems! So frustrating! I hope yours get worked out soon! Shopping with someone is so much more enjoyable than shopping solo. I haven't been to the store since....um....early April, I think. I miss wandering the aisles with the cart, deciding what looks good. Enjoy your tandem shops!
@digger61 Good day! I love how you are so consistent!
@Bettyboag Congrats on achieving your goals! My husband does IF two days a week...no food until 3 pm and does great. I tried IF, and I felt like I was going to be sick the whole time, and I was just skipping breakfast!
@GabiV125 Your hubby might need a tetanus shot if he stepped on a nail. If it's been more than 10 years since he had one, you should encourage him to run by an urgent care, and they should be able to get him taken care of. I've got two going back to college soon, and one heading back to high school. Thankfully, they decided to start high school online since the state numbers are up at right now.
@trooworld I'm sorry you are having a hard week. I hope pretracking helps you get back on track today. It sounds like you're off to a good start, making good choices.
@leonadixon Good luck with the surgery! Focusing now sounds like the best plan, so you will have optimal health beforehand.
@Jactop 30 pounds is quite an accomplishment! Way to go!
@Cornanda *fingers crossed* on your daughter's test! It's so scary these days! I hope you get to enjoy some time with your kids before they go off to school.0 -
I'm really working hard on my swimming this month. I'm trying to average at least 49 minutes of swimming each day because I had my 49th birthday on the 3rd. I've missed a few days during the month because of shoulder pain, but I saw my orthopedist last week, and he thinks I may have a rotator cuff injury, so I have to have an MRI.
It's supposed to rain all day today, so I checked the radar around 10 and saw that I had a little time before the rain was set to arrive. I stopped working and went and threw on my swim suit. I swam for 14 minutes before it started raining on me. I decided I would get at least 30 minutes in unless there was thunder. The rain picked up a lot, but I got my 30 in.
I'm going to have to make some more minutes up if I want to reach my birthday goal, but at least I don't have a zero for today.5 -
Buniphiphu, funny you said that. The way he told me what happened was “remember how I got the tetanus shot in December, it came quite in handy, look what I did”
I wanted to laugh, but had to put on the mom look.3 -
Wow - I hadn't logged on since Friday and it said there were 54 new postings! It's taken me about 30 minutes to read them all

@vegan4lyfe2012 Welcome to my neck of the woods! We live in VB and my husband spent 24 years in the Navy so I know all about those homecoming at NOB - enjoy your time here!!
@raleighgirl09 Yes congratulations - it must be so satisfying to see that number!
@trooworld So sorry to hear about your dad. I lost mine in February & it was hard despite the fact he was almost 90.
@Tracey0088 Glad to hear the wedding celebrations went well...and all those steps
@Cornanda My youngest heads off to college on the 23rd. Well only if he has a negative COVID test and passes a sports physical (he is a student-athlete). But he is a junior so I have adjusted to the quiet house - in fact as he has been here since March we are all ready for him to go
Phew - I need to do some work (as I am actually at work at the moment) and get up from my desk to stretch out my knee which is now starting to bother me from all the additional running I have been doing this week (almost 24 miles logged since Aug 1, only 52 to go to meet the challenge). Maybe I was a little ambitious to think a 53 year old woman who only runs about 5 miles a week could do 75.7 miles in a month.....

Hey everyone! Jumping on for a quick check-in. The last couple of days have been busy with me taking my mom to get eye surgery, which she is doing well but might still need more surgery in her left eye. My hubby got the booster shot for the Shingles vaccine and the side-effects have left him very sick. Chills, fever, and generally feeling like death. If we hadn't been prepared for this I would think he had COVID. Hopefully, he will start improving tomorrow. My eating has been OK but my fasting times are still suffering. Today, I managed 20 hours of the 21 I was shooting for. I'm a little concerned about weigh-in this week so I better get on with it.
2 -
@gwamajtw91 you keep on running and take some time off here or there for your knee if you have to. I bet you get that goal done anyway! I know what you mean about being ready for them to go..... I go back and forth. All being cooped up with Covid has helped me feel better about them being off doing their own thing!
@buniphuphu- your swimming is excellent- keep it up!
@GabiV125- yes, sometimes the husbands need the Mom face too!1 -

Tuesday check in
Hey gang! Had a good birthday – even had some cake! Not much, really, but kinda related to the fact that yesterday I ended up over indulging and, birthday or not, I don’t want two back to back blowout days, that’s how I can end up in trouble and backsliding. Good to know oneself and avoid those things.
Thanks everyone shouting out about my reaching the mini goal – I am pretty stoked. => Just like @TeresaW1020 says, then it’s the work of keeping the number. I feel good about it, I feel like I can. I also had too much gin Monday night and had a crazy amount of cals, adding 800 to my daily because I don’t know the actual number. Been helping my mom since she came home and – horder that she is way down deep – she had horded up the apartment in the many months since I had been inside. So – past that and past the overeating for no darn good reason. Onward and upward.
@bettyboag great work on the goal, GO YOU!! Very smart to start slowly and add things in as you acclimate – kudos!
@GretchenReine yep – Cap’n’ said it best….all of us have been there. Once day or weekend won’t define the entire experience and you have a very clear-headed attitude and approach!
@buniphuphu the smart scales are truly a *game changer* and worth the money! Quite a bold statement from me who is super cheap. Having that data as it all stacks up is extremely valuable! Good on ya for getting in so much pool time, most excellent!
@gabiv125 wow, that’s terrible – a nail in the foot! Glad he’s doing better and was up to date on the tetnus! Lovin’ what @Cornanda said about hubbies needing ‘mom face’!!!
@Tracey0088 that is an *amazing* loss and testimony to dedication and sticking it out! Very smart to look at the average and see the forest all around, full of trees!! Great work – so happy for you!
@anido1 sooooo fantastic that you see the value in just getting back on the hrse! Once the food is consumed, no sense wasting previous energy n feeling bad about it or beating yourself up. Mistakes are literally the way we learn what to do – and what to not do. You’ll get LOTS of mileage from the experience!
@TeresaW1020 that puzzle looks amazing! I hope your mom is on the mend and gets to enjoy everything that limited eyesight had probably started taking away from her! What a great gift…
@katmary71 I have a hard time in those big stores simply because of the number of people and the navigation – like….I don’t like people so much as to have to be in Costco. It’s kind of tough having to suddenly account for someone else’s food choices being around you when you have not had to do that! I bet there are a lot more positives than negatives but I completely agree with and support giving proper attention to the impact of that change! And I am thinking that you are probably learning a lot about *you* and how to navigate this change and how to get your food life balance back, despite the change and challenges. This isn’t going to take you down… =>
@digger61 looks like you’re having a great day and just keep keepin’ on!
@leonadixon we’ll be thinking of you and sending all the good vibes for the best outcome!
@jactop way to go, keeping the downward track GOING! WOOT!
@Cornanda for what it’s worth – it’s pretty fabulous to have an empty nest, once you settle in and past the oddness of it all. Rediscovering you, hubby and the youhubby team is pretty awesome and EVERYTHING it’s cracked up to be! Love it, just be kind to yourself, keep as many good habits as you can manage and be aware. It’ll work itself out… =>
@gwamajtw91 keep at it, you are doing a great job – for any age! Running is like anything else, you build those ‘muscles’ and can do more and more! Can’t wait to celebrate you making the 75+ miles in August!!!!

@bakatit8gn19 you can get past it Jay - and have a good day tomorrow, even if the week doesn't show what you want right now. Stack up each better day as it comes along and the next number and next week will be better. It's being consistent in doing what works, more than anything, and you can work each day to its fullest potential. Don't worry about the days coming after that - just keep at the actions and things that work, today - and one day at a time. You can do that for you - I know you can.3 -
So I have to say, I didn’t get to eat lunch since I was engrossed with work then I heard my son ordering Popeye’s. I so wanted a spicy chicken sandwich until I saw that it was 700 calories!! So I ended up with a thigh and drumstick for a total of 450 calories instead. I managed to walk for 45 minutes and biked for 20. I feel so good right now and hope that I can keep the momentum going. Good night everyone and thanks for the motivation you guys have given😄4

Omg the strategy for yesterday, to eat the foods I don’t particularly like worked! I know it’s not real lost, just water, but feels good.
I also found the Bingo yesterday and did 5 exercises, and now certain areas hurt, but it’s only because they were in deep sleep and I poked them.
Side note- my dog is the biggest supporter of jumping jacks.4
