Monday check in
Food - on target
Water - 1.8l
Exercise - rest day
Early check in today as I have a busy day today. It was busy yesterday too and not the easiest day for a variety of reasons. This pandemic wears me down some days more than others and yesterday was not a good one. But it’s ok and there is a lot to be thankful for, so looking forward to a better day today.
@1theresamcvean - I love that weigh in graphic!3 -

Vacation is going great. A lot different this year with doing day trips but it's ok. Today a hurricane is moving through so we didn't make big plans. My husband is helping my sons girlfriend get tires on her car and I am going to exercise and then maybe later we will head out and find something indoors to do. I also don't mind a day at home because he still has to put the headboard on my bed and a few things around the house.3

@Cafelelia, Glad you liked that graphic. I made one mistake on the weigh-in list, Tracy @ljdanny is going to weigh in this week.

Tropical Storm Isaias ~ I know @GingerPwr and @debbiewsharpe are right in its path in North Carolina. But if we're seeing this all the way up in Toronto, all of you in the Eastern U.S. are in for some weather. Stay safe friends.

@1theresamcvean - That is an artful photo, but it kind of scares me! Like a giant, alien cloud is attacking our city.
Here is an aerial view of where I live. There is a giant park, and my house is more in the centre of the photo where you start to see houses dotted with the trees. Follow the top left of the photo to get to Theresa’s neighbourhood.

@Cafelelia The ominous shot was taken yesterday. Needless to say, I didn't get many steps in. When I opened the door, my dog backed away.

Can I please move to cheer squad for August?
Loved my new spine doctor. Put me on steroids, narcotics and PT. He promised to get me back to running. Encouraged9 -
Hey all! We got a lot of rain and wind yesterday from Isaias, but it's sunny today so far. We're heading to the golf course.
Sorry I missed conversations and intros Monday. I got swamped with school work and house work.
Today, however, I have dubbed "Tasty Tuesday"! I know @Mrsbell8well will love this one.
If you want, share your favorite, most delicious HEALTHY snack or meal.
I love having Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and a little granola for breakfast (or dessert!)1 -
We still have another hour of packing then on our way to lake. Back is hurting but I’m almost done. Will take a pill then relax rest of week.
Thanks for all the kind words.
@gingerpwr you know I love tasty Tuesday but every day is a food celebration in my world.
Really looking forward to getting my healthy body back.3 -
@mrsbell8well - Theresa submitted you for transfer to cheer. Have. A great vacation and really hope that your back improves soon.
@GingerPwr - Tasty Tuesday, Meal= healthy ratatouille, Snack=berries, especially seasonal. Love them both!2 -

For Tasty Tuesday, a favourite of mine at the moment is this high-volume flavour bomb. It's my own version of Slow Cooker Red Lentil Cauliflower Curry which I make a big batch of and eat almost every weekday for my first meal between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. following a workout these days.
Recipe notes:
Don't run away at the word curry. This is a lovely nod to Thai red coconut curry. That's a whole different flavour profile ~ kind of a skinny, creamy, dreamy, low-level aromatic experience.
I don't have a slow cooker or an instant pot for that matter. I just make about three cups of vegetable stock and add it in a little at a time as the curry simmers to keep it moist. That may sound like a lot of broth, but I also add an extra head of cauliflower.
Then, I divide it into 1-cup sized servings and freeze a bunch of them. I leave a big container of it in the fridge for the first week's lunches. My last batch was 15 cups at 153 cal/cup. I eat one, one and a half, or two servings depending on how hungry I am. For the 153 cal/cup batch I made last week, I had halved the red lentils because I had some leftover protein to eat on the side.
Recipe:
Here's the print view of it so you don't have to read about the invention of the wheel before you get down to the recipe on the blog page:

@1theresamcvean i will definitely be trying your slow cooker curry !!
My tasty Tuesday is veggie salad. Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, mushroom, peppers and chick peas tossed in balsamic vinaigrette.2 -
First off I hope everyone on the east coast is staying safe with the storms rolling in.
For tasty Tuesday I have to agree with @GingerPwr Greek yogurt and oranges are my go to snack.
As for my daily adventure 😊 got a good two miles in walking back and fourth remarking a few lines. The contractor called me this morning and seams the cows did a number on my flags. And odd thing I’ve noticed cows like yellow, red and orange flags more than blue or purple 🤷♀️ I’ve also seen the cows try and fight my flags when a gust of wind gets them moving. Spent the second part road tripping with an exclusive concert featuring me 😂 I get really bored on the long drives. If anyone knows of any good podcast let me know I need more variety for my drives. Ended up a few miles from the Canadian border marking one line like 50 feet then driving home. Stopped by one of the sunflower fields and put a bit over 200 miles on my truck today. Was under my calorie goal today. I only took my lunch with me so I wasn’t tempted to snack during the day. Now ending my night with a cozy book4 -

Yes, it was nice to see most of my family on Sunday. We don't see my brother much because of the distance. It was so nice having him here to celebrate dad's birthday, especially with dad getting older
Hope you have a great time with your grandchildren!2 -
Tuesday 8/4
I had planned on going to vote after work but was too tired so I went home to sleep.
Dad, Hennie and I went out for dinner to celebrate dad's 86th birthday today. I planned on buying dinner but dad wouldn't hear of it. He said were celebrating my birthday and Hennie's birthday since we weren't able to go out then because the restaurants were closed then. My birthday is in May and Hennie's is in March. A lot of things are still closed here, with restaurants operating at 50% capacity. My dad is an 86 year old stubborn Dutchman and you never win.😉 So dad paid for his own birthday dinner. He tells me to save my money. (I already do that) We went out early enough that I went to vote after dinner. I picked the right time to go because it wasn't busy at all when I was there. After that I went back to Hennie's where we played a few games of Rummikub(basically a tile board game)
Dad has been looking older lately and looked pretty old today. It's hard seeing that. He used to walk a lot but isn't doing that anymore. He still does yardwork for a family who doesn't have time to do it but I think that might be getting hard for dad to do now too.5 -
The storm passed through Wilson NC without any harm. Just the aggravation of putting all the outside stuff inside and then all plants down from hooks then back out again this morning. My sister lives at Holden Beach and the entire downstairs was flooded, a total gut job and all furniture is being thrown away. She and her husband were safe!
My Step total for Tuessday, 8/4 is 19,212
@1theresamcvean loved the pictures, that sky did look ominous. I live in a very rural setting on a farm in NC and you definitely are a city girl. Love the water nearby!
@JillyBT congrats on the 150's keep on keeping on.......
@Melzz19 You job sounds so interesting and also a good way to get exercise
@mrsbell8well I hope your back improves soon! I have had 4 surgeries on my back and I know the pain it can cause, enjoy your vacation
@Cafelelia I think Covid has gotten everyone down at times, I miss going out to dinner with my friends the most. I have cooked more in the last 4 months than in the last 4 years. I pray every day that things in our nation/world will improve soon
@brown6267 and @goingape good to be in the step challenge with you!
@ljdannyljdann Enjoy your vacation!
@GingerPwr Love the tasty Tuesday. I had Blueberry Yum Yum but it is not low cal, I just try to eat smaller portions - I do love greet yogurt with fresh fruit. My bushes still have a few blueberries left for maybe one more picking. I have several gallons in the freezer that I eat like little popsicles
@tryingagain5 Always good to have a visit with family, something I haven't done since March 13 due to Covid
To All- it will take me awhile to learn everyone but I am reading each day and hopefully soon I will get to know all of you. I am not even sure if I am posting correctly but ya learn by doing so I am giving it a shot tonight! Good night ALL, have a great day tomorrow.8 -
Belated intro - I'm Kristy, I am 41 from Auckland, New Zealand. I'm a Technical Writer so I sit at a desk all day, but I am also a qualified Personal Trainer.
Once upon a time I was super morbidly obese, weighing in at 330 lbs. I am 5' 7". I have always been overweight/obese, then, one day in 2011 something just clicked in my brain. I was 32 with 4 young kids, I didn't want to be in my 40s and disabled from eating myself into an early grave. I turned down the offer of Weight Loss Surgery (twice), joined Weight Watchers, and then at the start of 2013 after moving to Australia, I found MFP. By early 2014 I had lost over 160 lbs and gone from a NZ size 26 to a size 8. I had also injured my shoulder, developed Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and started getting severe migraines. I maintained my weight loss until mid 2016, but it all got too much. I was diagnosed with chronic pain, had to stop exercising altogether, was suffering from depression and anxiety, and on top of that was diagnosed not only with Binge Eating Disorder, which wasn't a shock, but with anorexia, which was.
BED won. In 2017 we moved back to NZ and I started gaining weight back. It was a rough few years, I had a lot of therapy, was banned from losing weight or tracking calories for quite a while. Now I am in recovery, have pain levels mostly under control (although I still have bad days/weeks, and suffer severe migraines) and have finally managed to start lifting weights again. My weight got back to 280 ish (I actually think in kg, but I translate because most of this group is American). Right now it's around 250 and I'm doing okay. My goal is to get healthy again - I feel like "me" when I am active, exercising and lifting weights and I haven't been able to do much of that for a few years. It's slow progress but I am on the right track. 🙂4 -

I am so surprised each week that I lose weight. Not sure why, because I am eating at a deficit and getting regular activity, so really it is just a matter of science, but nonetheless, I am still surprised! I think it maybe because other attempts to lose weight I have ended up in quite a long term plateau, so kind if expecting that to happen again. Also shocked to be in the list of mentions for July - I didn't have any one spectacular week, but guess the little amounts each week add up in the end.
I have had a good week. Work has started getting really busy - which I am enjoying for now (still working at home at the moment though), we took a day out to the beach last Friday which was lots of fun (in the afternoon we took a fairly long paddle over to Old Harry Rocks to explore - kids loved that), and our food has generally been good (except the bbq.....). Our allotment is producing cucumbers and beans at an incredible rate, so eating lots and lots of them!
Tasty Tuesday (sorry posting on a Wednesday!): as we have an abundance of cucumbers, my go to snack (and lunch!) Is cucumber stick with hummus and a spicy salsa.
@Mrsbell8well Hope your back starts feeling better soon and you have a great holiday!5 -
Hi everyone. I'm Lisa, 40yo and live in the UK. I have been with my partner for over 20 years and we have 2 kids (son 8 and daughter 4). Also have a cat (Curzon), fish and 4 chickens (and an endless supply of fresh eggs!). Other than occupying myself with kids, work and chores I have 2 main hobbies at present which are sewing and allotment gardening (I have 2 allotments that I use to grow fruit and veg with varying success!). The allotments are incredibly time consuming at the moment, but love that for pretty much every day of the year we can eat something we have grown ourselves.
I have always been on the "larger" side, and my weight has yo-yo'd as I have tried one diet after another. Turning 40 last November, I made the decision to return to start my weight loss on the 6th Nov. Weighing in at 218.5lb (height 5'6") at that point, there was a long way to go to my 154lb goal (top end normal BMI). Using MFP, and increasing my exercise, I have now lost over 45lb. I am now at my lowest weight in 20 years, which I am finding hard to believe. I haven't consistently lost weight during this time - there have been a few bumps in the road, but so far I have managed to get back on the wagon and continue.
My goals for July were:
- get below 180lb and stay there! - Done
- drink water more consistently - About 50% of the time I drink enough water, need to get more consistent!
- start adding core workouts to my schedule (30min at least once a week) - Did 3 in 5 weeks...
My goals for August:
- Post more than once a week to this group as I am feeling an increased need for the accountability
- Drink 2l of water a day (at least 5 days a week)
- Do at least 3hrs intentional exercise each week.3 -
I'm going to be away from my computer all of today for work, so I'd like to postpone my weigh-in until tomorrow.
(Also, I saw my weight this morning and know it's almost entirely water weight, and would like to give it more of a chance to disappear before my official weigh-in)2 -

I'm not upset about this as I know it isn't real. All that exercise over the weekend kicked my kitten and everything hurts...so muscles are hanging onto water. 2+ hours gardening always does this to me.
My Tasty Tuesday (6 hrs late) was Taco salad. Lots of lettuce with tomato, green onion, avocado and black olives. Some spicy refried beans (fat/lard free) and some turkey taco meat. Add a bit of light sour cream, salsa and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. And Voila! Yum!
I will get back in to intro and gush at how well everyone (else) is doing!
@Mrsbell8well -- hang in there ! and have a nice vacay!4 -

Tuesday Check In
Food - IF and on target
Water - 2l
Exercise - 30 min walk
I am scrambling to get everyone ready for vacation. Of course, work stuff decides to pop up at the same time. It is Murphy’s law. I had a good day yesterday. Completed a 24 hour fast and had a good supper. There is that feeling in the air of back to school, ugh. I need to keep up my active denial for a few weeks! I have to fun and I hope that everyone is doing great!
