The first night she laid right at my feet...last night in the heat, we were both drinking water like it was going out of style and she finally came to lie down next to me and I was able to fan both of us with a piece of cardboard and she started purring again. All of this and I'm actually on vacation this week. Only I would schedule a vacation during a Hurricane. SMH

Glad you made it through the hurricane fine. No power in the heat is miserable. Enjoy your vacay!1 -
@UCGRocks I need your steps for Jul 31 and Aug 1 please.
@RaeWats I need your steps for Jul 31 and Aug 1 please.
@ShredWeek1 I need your steps for Aug 1 please.
Once I get these, I can post July's weekly and overall Top three winners.
Thanks,

Things have gotten a little stagnant over the past few days, so I decided to try to start adding some running into my usual walk. I was a little concerned about how well my ankle would hold up. Ive had some issues in the past and it has just recently started feeling normal.
I put in 3 miles mixing walking and running for the first 2. I averaged 15'35" for the first mile and knocked it down to 14'58" on my second. My ankle held up, so hopefully I can start improving these numbers.3 -

@jessicakrall8
Hi Jess! I was busy over the weekend and Monday. On Tuesday I said I'd get it together, but before I was able to do anything the power and cell service were both lost due to the tropical storm. We also had tornado warnings. The wind was really awful as well. A couple of trees fell down on my sister's property, one quite close to the house. The whole neighborhood is a mess with downed trees and lines. Today we packed up a lot of stuff from the freezer and fridge, and went to a friend's place. We're pretty sure it will be a while before we get power back.
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful vacation!3 -
The Ole Xtreme Wellness tortillas are really good too.
Second recommendation for these tortillas. They are low cal, high fiber and delicious. The only downside is that they are a bit pricey. But when they go on sale, I pick up a lot of them. They freeze beautifully. Perfect for wraps or chicken burritos.
@Jax_Grim @simbersea
I need to find these tortillas!
@simbersea
Happy Belated Birthday!!

Tomorrow, I want to try this green smoothie that I found online. It sounds healthy and nutritious. I have all the ingredients as well. I'm going to halve all the ingredients though.
1 1/2 cup of milk or nut milk
2 cups (packed) of spinach
1 frozen banana
1 apple sliced into pieces
1/4 cup of avocado2 -
jessicakrall8 wrote: »Just spoke to my brother on the phone to wish him a happy birthday. We spoke a few days ago and he asked me for an old recipe of our Mom's and I've been searching this house over looking for that recipe.
Our Mom was an amazing cook and especially so with baking from scratch. Let's just say, I do not have her gift. She loved it...the kitchen was where she was in her element. She made it look easy...preparing elaborate meals, sometimes with two main courses, several sides and always desserts, usually made from scratch. I can cook a few of her creations, but not many and it's rare that I do any of them.
Today's discussion surrounded "Ann's Prune Cake"...now it sounds horrible, but anyone who bakes knows that prunes, like applesauce, can be used for moisture in baking. This is one of the richest cakes I've ever eaten and I'm not a sweets person. It was one of my favorites as the great thing about it is the moistness of it and it's not covered up by a whole bunch of frosting, as it has a clear glaze sauce over it...it's just amazing.
Long story short, I found mom's old recipe box in my kitchen (duh, I know--why didn't I start there, instead of searching through boxes). The card itself is covered in stains where it was used for many years. Now, I can't stop crying about that little green and white kitchen where I grew up watching her in her joy...she used to sing while she baked. Gosh I miss her.
Mom died 9 years ago, Jul 1st, 2011. She was 81.
I celebrated today by sharing that recipe with my brother (who's 14.5 years older than me) and posting the recipe on my Recipe Group. She'd like that I did that. I hope somebody makes her cake.
Hope ya'll are having a nice weekend. If anyone would like that recipe and you promise not to let it derail your diet, drop me an email (jakrall@cox.net) and I'll get it to you.

My mom past away at age 68 of a massive heartattack. On Jan 25 the 2007 two weeks away from seeing our first detached home. On that note my dad always came up for a visit yearly so he stepped up for some of her visits. A few years later we had our children now 7 and 8. My mom always had patience I guess that skipped a generation with us three girls lol. My mom always cooked everything till it was good and dead but we always had all the fixings and desert. I will miss her dearly. My brother is 14.5 years older than me too. Sorry about going all mushy but when you get food posioning you have alot to think about during the night. I got it from a vegetable grrrr. Corn was open and I left it on the table for a couple of nights before cooking it. Alarm bells should have rang out when I threw out one bad one that someone had opened up at the store. Maybe I should thoroughly check the others. So check your corn and smell it too. I was the only one who got sick the next day for almost two days that was the only symptom and all we had was steak and corn. Feeling 90% now so maybe a excerise in the morning my body is sluggish from not doing anything. Never thought excerise words would come out of my mouth but I miss it. My kitchen was WWII BUT for one full day I didn't feed or hear my kids. For her dad my daughter was fine with popcorn for lunch?????No three course meal. One day we just stayed on the couch and watched 2 movies. The past 4 days I didn't record any food intake. One of those I know I went over. Now just need to get back to a normal sleep pattern. Welcome August with some ranting, tears and whole lotta love for what I have.6 -

ShredWeek1 wrote: »@ShredWeek1 I'd love to try those potatoes. I'm vegetarian and a big fan of nutritional yeast. I don't have an air fryer though sadly. Do you reckon I could do them in the oven instead?
Yes! It takes a little finessing but they are yummy in the oven too. I haven't done a lot of experimenting with the oven, but I think you could try different temperatures and find just the right level of crispiness.
My other fav is overnight oats: Steel cut oats and almond milk overnight (1 part oats, 2 parts almond milk), and then in the am a dash of cinnamon and 1/2 a cup of blueberries.
This is my go to as well but instant oats I wasn't sure to do the steal cut I have some I'll try it tomorrow2 -
jessicakrall8 wrote: »August Motivator's challenge - Food, food, glorious food!
I'm a sandwich person, but I'm also trying to watch my sodium and as we all know, lunch meat is packed with salt. I've started doing pimento cheese, tuna or chicken salad in addition to my occasion turkey with thin sliced extra sharp cheddar (Sargento). My problem is that I don't like hard bread...has to be soft and I don't want seeds all over it...just a simple, soft bread. With that softness comes calories and I don't want to waste everything on the bread. I found a couple of brands that I like. Schmidt 647 white bread (40 cal per slice) and it's wonderful, but always sells out and hard to find. Heiner's white or wheat is good as well (35 cal per slice), but again, very hard to find.
What breads do you guys like? I found a picture of Aunt Millie's potato bread (35 cal)...anyone know what stores carry it?? Would love your favorite bread recommendations...
Great topic @Emmajhare !

Freshco carries a whole wheat wrap called Roti for 80 calories I stuff it with spinach, chicken, or ham and feta for the salt kick.1 -

So I did a thing. I am now a gym member. I'm at the point in my weight loss where I have some loose skin. I guess it was inevitable, but I'm going to start heavy lifting to offset some of it. It has be rethinking my end weight a bit. I guess I'll start lifting and just see where it takes me.9 -

That's great!
Lifting made all the difference in my life. I could be 140 lbs and a size 12 or 140 lbs and a size 8...and it was the same brand/cut of clothing, the difference was 3 hours of strength training every week.
Our gym is closed, but I do 20 minutes of strength training at home with 5 lb weights. I've been doing this for only 3 weeks, and I can see definition in my arms that I haven't seen for quite some time!

Looks like low carb tortillas are definitely next on the menu then @angmarie @Jax_Grim @UCGRocks!
@jessicakrall8 I must confess I'm a huge fan of seeded and granary breads, which are never low calorie, so I can't help you there! I just try to eat bread as a less frequent treat these days instead.
@shredweek1 - I love overnight oats. I also made your potato recipe last night for dinner and they worked fine in the oven. The nutritional yeast really does work as a tasty, crispy coating. They were a huge hit with my (non-vegetarian) husband too. Thank you!
My pleasure!
It seems nuts to go nuts over of all things: Nutritional yeast...but anything that gets our teen to eat reasonably healthy food is a win in our book!2
