@podperson1 A lazy day cuddling cats sounds lovely. Maybe some flavourful tea and soup can help you stay on your cals. Hugs.0

I'm late in posting this week. Plus I'm not starting off the new month very well, but I have gone to the gym every day this week and have been writing everything down. Here's to a new month and a new start.
Hi Debbie, Thinking about your slight gain (more of a maintain), I wonder if it's because you were at the gym every day. I'm no expert but have learned from @xX_PhoenixRising_Xx and @minstrelofsarcasm that the gym can cause water weight because your muscles are healing (I feel like I might have that wrong) and also perhaps your building some muscle. Keep going! Hugs.1 -
I didn’t do well yesterday I was under my steps by 1400 and only at 940 calorie and that because I forced myself to have a banana before bed. It was a busy day as usual. I’m trying to catch up on the chat. I worked a few hours this morning and then we’ve been working on the patio. I’m on a break but I’m headed back out in a few.
I probably won’t get my steps in this weekend but I can tell you my shoulders are burning so I’ll definitely build some muscle. 😁3 -
Weigh in day!
Well after I said I was going to have a gain, I actually ended up with a tiny loss. I will take it!
Last weight - 161.2
Current weight - 161.0
Loss- .2
Total weight loss of 58.4
Cheers!3 -
@podperson1
Thanks! I really have missed the gym. I had a good routine with it. Not being able to go did mess with my momentum. Not that I couldn't do workouts at home. For some reason it's better for me to actually leave the house and workout. I generally workout harder at the gym than at home. Probably from being around others who are also working out hard.
Hope you start feeling better and get some decent sleep again.2 -

I’ve had a really hard time getting in the app this week. I also struggled this week. We were on vacation the first half, we went to Rocky Gap Casino Resort in MD. I love it there. It is absolutely beautiful but the restaurants are not the greatest. And there isn’t anywhere close to go grab something. I guess one good thing to take away from the week is I have been doing about an hours worth of cardio everyday, and also some lifting.
You would think this would be simple, just don’t put bad crap in your mouth and swallow... Geeeesh if only!!!!!
I hope everyone’s doing well and has a great holiday here in the states!3 -

@jedaschultz and @1theresamcvean -
Theresa is correct! When you work out, you're creating small tears in your muscles. In order to repair these small tears, your body needs protein and water. While they're being repaired, your body holds onto more water, because some of that water is being used to restore your muscles (in the presence of enough protein) or build them stronger (in the presence of excess protein). There's also a few billion ways for water weight to occur.
I'm sure I've written a rant on it somewhere. I can find it, if anyone is interested in the science of water retention.
@timibotkin -
You may also be a victim of water retention! Excess salts and sugars, a common occurrence in restaurant food, require more water to be processed through the body. Do what you can - you know you have the ability to work off any bad food decisions anyway!0 -

Not surprised at all. Was my daughter's birthday on Tuesday so that led to 4 days of less than stellar eating (and maybe a little drinking) in extended celebrations! Also the cake I made was a doll cake, so had lots of carved off pieces most of which ended up in my tummy...
Weight has reduced a little since then, but my efforts to keep away from the cake are failing. This weight loss lark is a lot easier without cake in the house! Hoping the kids finish it tomorrow!
This past week has been hectic with the birthday, Ben back at school and Violet starting school, and work has been really busy (looks like the project I am working on has resulted in me getting a new job role). Looks like it has been super busy here to - lots for me ro catch up on. Hoping you are all doing well xx4 -

Looks like I need to buckle down! Not going to lie, should not of taken a month off. Truth be known, I had gained a solid 5 lbs back and have been working my *kitten* off to try and get er back to 215 for today. I know it doesn't work that way but really, I lost 3.8 lbs this week! LOL
The struggle is real folks!
PS, I say words like *kitten*, *kitten* and *kitten* because I think it's amusing when big brother replaces them with Kitten! That is all, Keep killing it "Rock Stars" !6 -
Saturday check-in
88 oz water
14,253 steps
Walked 90 minutes
Did not prelog
I guess I should have made the prelog goal a workweek goal. I don’t like to prelog on the weekends or days off. I experimented with new recipes yesterday and today. I tend to prelog in the morning once I decide what dinner or lunch “experiment” I’m doing.
Tonight I made the guilt free gourmet Alfredo sauce. It made a creamy sauce but looked more like chicken gravy than Alfredo. It also didn’t have the richness of real Alfredo (no heavy cream, no butter, and about 1/4 of the Parmesan I normally put in my homemade sauce so it shouldn’t have been a surprise,) but overall it was good and satisfying. I cheated on my food diary for tonight. I wanted to watch the Kentucky Derby so didn’t take the time to put it in the recipe builder. I’ll do that tomorrow and make corrections! 😉
The chocolate chips cookies didn’t win today! I had two after lunch, wanted more, but did not give in...even with watching my hubs and son grabbing them multiple times today! My son got my dad’s metabolism, it skipped a generation! He’s 6’2” and I don’t think he’s ever broke 170# even though he snacks on junk all the time. When I was little, the doctors always told my parents I’d probably be close to 6 foot tall based on the growth charts. Ha! Fooled them! Stopped growing at age 13 at 5’7” and started growing outward instead!
Walked my new route again this morning and added an extra mile on the road the runs along the lake. My ankle was pretty sore last weekend after trying to jog so I decided to go more for distance this weekend. The weather is absolutely gorgeous this weekend, too!
Good luck to everyone with kids going back to school!

I had a great week walking. Most of the week was 95+ with heat index of 105 but today was breezy and in the 80's. I did get some of my steps in the house in front of the TV or walking around the house on the phone. I call the older ladies in my church that live alone and I listen and walk! I have actually counted my steps as I walk outside and I have a mailbox 500 steps away so I can take a very short walk and get 1,000 steps. It seems to work for me. I am also doing my strength training 5-10 minutes at a time, I figure it all adds up and it is easier for me. It amazing how these short walks add up a lot of steps. I don't know what my weight will be on Monday but I have done well all week with my diet. I am eating pretty healthy and have even done about 13 hours a day of IF. I HAVE NOT BAKED ANYTHING THIS WEEK. I have been eating fruit instead of cake, pie or cookies. I am allowing myself a treat tomorrow but haven't decided what it will be yet. Wishing you all a great holiday weekend. Stay focused and enjoy your time with self, friends, and family!
@annliz
You definitely have your act together, awesome workout.
@GingerPwr
I talked with my teacher friends and they are all stressed to the max, so much technology to learn to pull of this remote teaching. We will find out on September 15 if they are going to stay remote or go to plan B, who knows! Don’t let this change your eating habits and progress. Covid has already taken so much from all of us, you can do this. Hope the new diet helps your husband.
@tryingagain5
Enjoy every minute of your three day weekend. That incentive for going to work is amazing. I am like you, I thought that is what you did anyway. I guess getting paid extra will definitely benefit the dedicated ones with a good work ethic. 29% not showing up WOW???? I sure don’t understand our new world. BTW, enjoy your marathon-you will succeed! Glad you can get back to the gym with your trainer.
@theresamcvean
Nice loss this week. I play with the same few pounds up and down all week. I just hope they will stay within that range. Go back and look at the last year, 6 months, 3 months and see how you are doing. I put my weight on my profile page yearly! It helps me to see where I was and where I am going. I love the pictures of the little ones.
@Lenka1
Great to have a supportive husband and one that loves cooking!!!! So glad to hear your 5 yr. old likes school and the fact that this will help you is certainly a win. Love the poster!
Nice loss, congrats!
@mainbeachbum
Good Friday check in. I have the same walking route every single day. It often gets boring but I live in the country and occasionally see a neighbor out in the yard and get to stop and chat a few minutes, of course from a distance! You have prepared great meals and even cookies, I smell them from here!
@Zumba_luvah
Awesome loss! Congratulations.
@Melzz19
Beautiful picture. Enjoy your time with your fiancee, the holiday and your hike.
@sleepymom5
Love the hunger scale idea. I always go back to “am I eating because I am hungry.” If you aren’t hungry, don’t eat. It sure has helped me. I will have to add, stop when full to it.
@kandi3570
Great weigh in, congratulations on a super week.
@hope002
New week ahead, you will do it this week
@goingape
Even a tiny bit is still a loss and it will add up!
@Freeglerock
Little bit of a gain but sounds like you got a handle on it. New week ahead.
@KUMEcyclingteam
After a month off and a slight gain, I call that a win! You are BACK now, get it done!

Great job on all the walking! That's a great idea to call someone while you walk. I bet you go farther and don't even know it. I find when I walk with someone I go farther than if I went alone.
Thanks, I will.
The incentive is nice and I think will benefit mostly the people who already show up to work. I always thought the incentive for going to work was a paycheck but what do I know.😉 Yes. I was surprised too. You have a job, you go to work. If doesn't make sense to me not to go to your job. My dad likes to say "we were put on this earth to work". He's 86 years old and still works doing yard work for someone in the summer. He has slowed down some but he still does quite a bit.
I think you have me mixed up with someone else on the marathon. I'm definitely not a runner. I'll run if something is chasing me.🤣
I will enjoy going back to the gym.3 -
@debbiewsharpe your steps are over the top! You are quite an inspiration0

But bad crap tastes SO GOOD!podperson1 wrote: »TOTM has decided to hit me hard (I have very bad periods and am normally on the injection to control them, but with my doctors only really taking emergencies it's run out), so lack of sleep last night due to pain pretty much everywhere...
My husband says any reasonalble adult male should recognize this IS an emergency...so clearly your doctor isn't either a) male or b) reasonable. I use birth control than reduces length, flow, etc etc etc and I suspect if I stopped, he would be very sad.
Sometimes, when everything hurts, a short walk or light yoga helps. It might (continue to) hurt but when I'm done, I feel better. Cuddling with fluffy friends would be nice too (I'm VERY allergic but I would assume that to be true).1 -

So I used the recipe builder. What a surprise! A serving was only 56 calories compared to the 120 calories I had logged by picking a lowfat jarred sauce!

Check in for Saturday
Food-not logged and over
Water-over 64 oz
Exercise-30 min Leslie Sansone video and PT
I am struggling this weekend. I did well with meals yesterday but had some evening snacking that I shouldn't have done. I need to be firm and say no to myself. I know the more I say no, the easier it will get.
It has been a fun weekend though. Jim and I became off season members of the local Yacht club. It takes years to get in so the off season is the first step. It isn't snooty at all thank goodness. Our little island closes up on the off season so it is an additional place to go for dinner. They also do fun things though out the year. We went to dinner with friends there last night and had a lot of fun. The other members and the staff were very friendly. Today our neighbor across the canal is having live music on his deck from 1-5. That is fun, people float around or hang on their decks to listen. We are having some friends over for that. I am thinking that will be a good time to hit the IF clock when it is done. That seems to help me with the night time eating and I seem to be having a problem with that the past few days...
@tryingagain5 I find it interesting that I am kinda learning how to eat when I am 54 Lol! Ugh! But hopefully it won't be as much of a struggle at some point
@Zumba_Luvah I think that is smart. I do have a goal weight but I feel the same way as you. If I get to a place where I am satisfied with how I look and feel, I will stop there.
@Cafelelia Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend!
@kandi3570 Nice loss! You had a good week! Why the low calories the other day? Where you not hungry or just so busy?
@hope002 No worries, I know you will turn it around. Not much you can do when TOM shows up
@podperson1 It is amazing what I have learned by paying attention. It has been eye opening!
I hope your TOM passes quickly and you are feeling better soon. Hugs!
@kirsten11872 Maintaining is good, especially after being so successful week after week. You must be in back to school mode with the kids. Hope all is well.
@goingape Nice! Plus look at that overall loss! Amazing! xo
@timibotkin Oh I can relate! It drives me crazy when people say weight loss is just move more eat less. Lol! If only...
@Freeglerock A doll cake! It must have been awesome! I was watching someone make a minion cake and were carving a lot of cake off. I was thinking that it would be dangerous for me because I would be eating the pieces that were carved off Lol! Don't worry about the past few days, just get back on track. I know it is a busy time but try to think of small things you can do to get back. For example, maybe add in another glass of water or if you aren't getting any exercise, try to fit in 15 min. You can do this! xo
@KUMEcyclingteam Haha! That kitten thing confused me when I first noticed it. You were so successful getting to your first goal and you even had the emergency with your Mother. So you have done it before, and you will do it again. I know you will work you *kitten* off and get to your next goal! I had to do the *kitten* thing too lol!
@mainebeachbum Great job with the cookies! I would have a hard time with them. Be proud that you made something that your son and hubs could enjoy and were able to enjoy them yourself in moderation. That is what I am trying to figure out. I just need to be more consistent. The alfredo sauce sounds like a good substitution for when you have a hankering for alfredo. What a nice surprise how low the calories actually were!
@debbiewsharpe Those steps are amazing! It is interesting to see how the little steps add up. I need to be more conscious of when I could be getting some steps in instead of sitting or standing. You had a good week this week. Enjoy your well deserved treat this evening!

@sleepymom5
I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing. And if I lose 10 to 20 more pounds so be it lol. Eventually I will have to figure out how many calories ill need to eat to maintain.3 -
Oh wow, a lot happened while I was taking a day off from reading everyone's posts! There's so many inspirational people in this group - I'm so happy to have you wonderful folks around to keep me on top of things.
For some reason, I lack the capacity to go through and respond to everyone, but I want all of you to know that you're doing something incredible. So much of the population has goals they excuse themselves from ever achieving, but something inside of you chose to take the hard route and not count yourself out before you ever even try. Your hard work means something, even if you can't see it now. No matter what, know that you are an inspiration. Maybe even to someone you've never met.
Wow. I'm from the dairy state, and even I found that too cheesy. Oh well. Not deleting it now.9 -
@minstrelofsarcasm
Even though you consider your post "cheesy" I'm glad you didn't delete it. I'm sure most of us have heard something similar but a reminder is always good. I don't usually think of myself as an inspiration to others but later find out that I am even when I don't know it.
@sleepymom5
I guess it's true that we never stop learning. You would think it would get easier. Hopefully someday. Enjoy your evening out.3 -
Saturday 9/5 check in
Food: not bad
Water: 48 oz
Exercise: 20 minutes low intensity
Since I didn't work Friday night, I got to actually sleep at night. I slept really well and slept in a little.
Not an overly exciting day. Did a couple of loads of laundry, played on my phone awhile, read for a little while, then felt sleepy, so I took a nap. It turned out to be a 3 hour nap. Guess I needed the sleep.
One of my friends and I took her dog (Jack)to the local dog park. He really enjoys going there. We were surprised at how many people were there, given the holiday weekend.2 -
Saturday check in
Really quick check in today. I am having a nice a Labour Day weekend so far. Supper out last night went well and big win in sticking to my 3 glasses of wine maximum. Tonight we are have supper out again, and then meeting neighbours for drinks afterwards. I have my meal planned and once again, will limit the drinking. Hope to squeeze in a walk before supper. Hope that everyone has an awesome Sunday!3 -

Well, I am in shock! Kind of...I could tell I was going to have a loss, because my anxiety as been HIGH all week and that has really kept me from eating much! 😕 My new Psychiatrist prescribed something for my anxiety, but she said it could take up to 9 weeks to show any sign of working...and then I Googled it and read that it can actually make it worse before better...But this is how it's been feeling before I even started it and it's been this way for probably 2 months now!! Not eating, weak all the time, zero energy, no motivation, (So, my depression has been bad too then...) And I cry a few times a day because the anxiety is so bad, it just won't let up! I see my Psychiatrist again on the 14th or 16th of this month...It's going to be over video though and I'm not sure how I'll tell her about any of this because she is new to me and I even try to get out of talking to my Counselor about most of it too! *BIG SIGH* I'm thinking of trying weed or THC oil, well ACTUALLY I did get some CBD oil and a vape...But it hasn't helped at all, so maybe it doesn't have enough THC in it or none at all! *Sigh* I'm gonna go look online!
Love you guys!5
