Karen I am no longer eating after 7-8 PM. It differs to give me some flex in case I have to eat late due to work.

Shelley, I hope you like your instant pot. I gave mine to Sara.
Lately, I've been getting Bistro salads from Raley's. There are a couple I'm not crazy about, so they get taken off my favorite list. At least it's helping me eat my greens... I do like making an egg sandwich using sandwich thins, tho.
Chris1 -
Oooh, had forgotten about how good egg salad is; must make some. Tuna salad too (tuna, green onion, celery, enuf mayo to wet only, a dash of salt & pepper; yum) piled high on 5-6 rice crackers. Low carb, high protein and very very satisfying.
Working on staying lo-carb. I'm far enough immersed that it's some effort but not too much.

Shelley - good deal....I try to end my eating early too. Not quite successful last night...but today is a new day!

Retirement has gifted me with more time to spend with friends. And in the spirit of supporting each other, I offer you my ear.
If anyone is being dogged by temptation; you are welcome to call me in the evenings. I can be quite distracting - which sometimes is all we need.
If you'd like my cell#, send me a PM, okay? Then if it's after 7:00 and you're reaching for the chips, you can grab the phone and get me instead.
Very fond of all of you...

Chris0 -
Hey Karen!
I know what you mean! When my jeans come out of the dryer, it takes fifteen minutes of jumping around, tugging them up, jiggling my body, sucking in everything, and pulling as hard as possible just to squeeze into them. Thank goodness they stretch out a little.
It's fun though, isn't it, to get into that smaller number! Wanna race to get to goal? I've got two sizes to get comfortable in; about 30 pounds...
paula1 -
Paula - you know it....and of course i have 4 sizes in my closet what is your goal? I remember when we first lost our weight we kept lowering it...
I keep telling myself my goal is 155-160....(I'm 164.8 right now)
the lowest I ever reached was 148, but that was crazy low carb, no alcohol and working out like I was training for the national aerobics championship lol! I get I pretty boney....starting to see some of that now. My struggle is the bottom half of my body...which I need a surgeon for really. But I'm a small or medium on top, and in a stretch plant a L on bottom/or a 10 jean...soon to be 8. Frankly I'm find landing comfortably in an 8....and I want to be able to eat
Are you still doing intermittent fasting?
Maybe I'll try for that 10lbs off and land comfortably at 155....
We have off next week....a bit concerned about Thanksgiving week....need to keep focussed. Sadly with covid it will just be Jim, Belle, Mom and I. We will make some of our specialities and take them to my brother and sister. Mom's sausage stuffing = heaven on a plate. Can't wait for that!

Walked 25 min earlier....freezing!

Karen,
I'm 5'8.5" (have shrunk) and for a few years I hovered around 140-150# 35x28x38 . I currently weight 173.5 and want to (and can) get down to 138 - that will be skin & bone but every pound off my knees reduces pain and increases mobility. It be nice to remove the loose skin and gain a little fat back to fill out the curves. But that may be a dream.
BTW, the first time I got to goal (using bariatric surgery, reduced calories & exercise), there were huge flaps of loose skin. Then I gained and re-lost 40 pounds using low-carb - and there were no flaps; still wrinkly but the weight distribution was incredibly different.
I'm losing the 40# again right now (came back in March with Covid) but this time I'm using keto and collagen. My hair has filled back in and my fingernails are hard and smooth. The changes based on different eating regimes are dramatic. I wish there were a definitive study describing why things happen the way they do.
Getting into Keto is hard for me; it takes a couple faithful low-carb weeks to kick the body out of sugar-burning and into fat-burning and I have to avoid giving it alcohol; because that's another fuel it'll use before it switches to fats. It can take months of slip-ups to finally achieve it again. But once I do; the riddance of cravings is the blessing that makes it all possible.
Wow, ran off at the mouth. Sorry folks.
Need to do Chris' workout now. It's raining here but that's not an excuse to do nothing.

Love this! And as I have major sleeping issues and snacking issues I may be your first call. Very fond of you ladies as well!

OKAY, I want to join you guys.
I'm 5'5" ...down from 5'7" due to arthritis. The 2 inches had settled around my middle. I am currently 153.0 and want to get down to 139.0. My lowest ever was around 125, but that was the skin and bone phase of the taller me. I'd dropped 60 pounds on Weight Watchers back in 2006 and kept it off for a long time. This is killing me. I looked back at some of my old WW note books and I used to walk 12 and 13 miles a day!! Four miles by myself, four miles w/Sara, and five miles with my friends Sue and Susan. I mentioned that to Sara this morning and she said, "Yep, you did. Every day." These days I'm whining about walking two or three times a week...sigh.
So, starting this week...Walked Sat. (5.04 miles 107 mins) and Sun. (4.15 miles in 96 mins) w/Patrick. Monday was my day off. I walked yesterday (4.45 miles in 74 mins) and today (4.51 miles in 74 mins) by myself. Tomorrow I'll walk w/Sara. I have my trainer three times a week. She is starting to work me harder. My eating is going to be fasting then salad or egg sandwiches and fruit. I'll figure it out. I just have to stay away from trigger food.
Chris0 -
Chris, Walking is such a great way to burn calories. Thank you for inspiring me to get back into it too!
Kathy, Looking forward to hearing your voice!
Peace and joy.

I love that we are all sharing more about our journeys. Sadly this is not a straight line ladies but we are here to support each other and get to our goals together!
Paula - Tell me more about the collagen? I was putting it in my hot beverages and I just pulled it out to start doing it again. I definitely need more. Curious what you are doing there.
Chris- you will get there....sounds like a great start...you are our walking Queen!
So I have been doing intermittent fasting with at least a 20 hour window since March 13th when I started working from home due to the pandemic. It's been an absolute lifesaver. I'm definitely losing fat and trimming down. I also do think there is less loose skin, although after coming from 306 pounds it's inevitable. That's OK I absolutely have to stay away from the alcohol. Such a slippery slope. Makes me crave sugar and snack. Interestingly enough I find him losing more weight having a little bit more carbohydrates. Which I would not have guessed. When I 1st got weight loss surgery I did super low carb, but I also felt weak and faint. So I am thinking that perhaps I need a little bit more on the carb side. Not crazy high just a little bit more.
Have a healthy day gals!

Karen,
Jack Spratt could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean. And so betwixt the two of them, they licked the platter clean. Here's ye olde Spratt poem, if you're curious...
My ex is slender and healthy, can't gain weight, has no cravings and eats all the starches he wants. But fats send his cholesterol dangerously through the roof. Whereas I can eat most fats* and still maintain excellent HdL & LdL levels. But over-processed starches are literally addictive and make me morbidly obese.
That helps me realize how people are different; and that what works for me will work for everyone else. But I think you and I might have similar food patterns.
I tried adding a daily scoop of chocolate bone broth collagen powder (there are lots) and my hair and nails improved significantly.
paula :flowerforyou:
*I don't eat red meat because of a revulsion; or dairy because of an allergy. So most my fats are fish, poultry, soy, nuts and olive oils, aka "good" fats - which may help my cholesterol levels. I do eat a lot of eggs and mayonnaise though...1 -
OOPS, BIG TYPO
meant to say "what works for me will NOT work for everyone else!
paula2 -
I stole this from someone...
Today I was in a shoe store that sells only shoes, nothing else. A young girl with green hair walked over to me and asked, "What brings you in today? I looked at her and said, "I'm interested in buying a refrigerator." She didn't quite know how to respond, had that deer in the headlights look.
I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.
When people see a cat's litter box they always say, "Oh, have you got a cat?" I just say, "No, it's for company!"
Employment application blanks always ask who is to be called in case of an emergency. I think you should write, "An ambulance."
The older you get the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have gotten to be really good friends.
The easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement.
Have you ever noticed: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL.
The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he knows when he's really in trouble.
Did you ever notice that when you put the 2 words "The" and "IRS" together it spells "Theirs?"
Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way and a lot of the roads were not paved.
Ah! Being young is exciting but being old is comfortable.
May you always have:
Love to share,
Cash to spare,
Tires with air,
And friends who care.
Chris

Love it, Chris, Can't stop snorting and giggling!
Here's something (below) also nice (albeit not as funny) floating around Facebook:A little something to ponder...
I asked one of my friends who has crossed 70 & is heading to 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself?
He sent me the following very interesting lines, which I would like to share with you ....
#1 After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, my friends, now I have started loving myself.
#2 I just realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.
#3 I now stopped bargaining with vegetables & fruits vendors. A few pennies more is not going to burn a hole in my pocket but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.
#4 I pay my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than me
#5 I stopped telling the elderly that they've already narrated that story many times. The story makes them walk down the memory lane & relive the past.
#6 I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.
#7 I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You"
#8 I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.
#9 I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do.
#10 I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race.
#11 I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It’s my emotions that make me human.
#12 I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships I will never be alone.
#13 I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last.
#14 I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be!
I decided to send this to all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age....
I stole this, I don't know who to credit it to, but thank you!
Aging lets me feel more free without worrying what others think. I want life to be fun, like standing proud, appreciating beauty (everywhere/in everyone), singing (off key) & dancing (in the street), laughing at (with) life, amusing folks, and sharing smiles & hopefully joy too.

Oh my goodness ladies. You are all wonderful.
Paula I never heard that version before. What a wonderful man Jack was. And I have to admit to never doing that pant dance. I wear mine loose. Not fall around my ankles loose. But I need a belt if I don't want to be pulling them up a lot!
Chris I loved reading those little saying. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Karen I love that you and Paula are in a race to get to your goal! Go girl.
Kathy how is that snacking going? I messed up tonight.
I am still studying for the promotion exam with my friend. I really just want to pass. We were studying Use of Force and harassment in the work force issues today. I have been so stressed my stomach is in knots! I will be here more when this testing is over in two weeks.
Shelley0 -
Good Luck, Shelley!..and love!
Not that you will need luck,
Because you are a MONSTER
And you will do great!!!
So let that stomach relax!
And trust in yourself and your drive and your fortitude!
Sending you lots of positive vibes...

Shelley - I know you will do great on your exam. Deep breath. You've got this Use all those great superpowers you have. I thought of you yesterday because I have potential jury duty next week. Have to call in on Sunday to see if I am picked. Actually never been on a jury. Always think it would be super interesting.
