Holiday craziness and bad weather has kept me out of the pool most of last week. I need to get back at it. I'm going to visit a friend this weekend in Tennessee, and I need to put some time in swimming, or sitting in the car for all those hours is going to kill my joints.4 -
@TwistedSassette - yoga? massage? lost a raccoon? Love, love love it!
@adhmrh - I think it was you that got off your afib meds? Forgot to congratulate you on that. An accomplishment to be sure.
@raleighgirl09 - Will think good thoughts your way for the covid funk.
@trooworld- Will think good thoughts for your sweet pup.
@TeresaW1020 Congrats on the new computer!
@buniphuphu - Dory, I know you can keep swimming!
Not much new here. It's a dreary day in FL. I stayed home- thanks Covid. And I got some housework and wrapping done. Zow!3 -
@anido1 - I hope that your scale is not broken and this is just a big whoosh!
@adhmrh I am so intrigued by pickleball! It's not really a thing here in Australia, I think some clubs are starting it up in the cities but it's not very widespread. I'm glad you enjoyed your first session, exercise is so much better when it's fun!
@raleighgirl09 I think there are a few of us getting into a funk at this time of year. I am counting down to some days off work and I tell you what, they can't get here quick enough.
@SammyDee2015 Sorry to see you stepping back but I'm glad you're going to hang around and rejoin next month!
@Katmary71 Our restrictions in Australia have eased a lot - we're almost back to normal. We have no active cases apart from returned travellers in hotel quarantine, so our gyms etc. are all open and trading as normal just with extra cleaning and supervision required. So my yoga class will be in the gym as normal
I think there are restrictions on the number she can have in the class (some kind of square metre rule, maybe 2 or 4 square metres per person, I'm not sure) but I live in a small town so it's not likely that she would have had to turn too many people away anyway.
@trooworld Sorry to hear about your dog. I hope it's good news this morning from the vet!
@TeresaW1020 New computers are always a lot of work! I hope that it transitions smoothly for you - and what a sweet hubby to buy it for you! I hope your hair appointment was enjoyable! I always love the scalp massage when they wash
@buniphuphu Sorry about your weigh in result this week. I know you're desperate to get back in the pool regularly so I hope you can get some time for that this week.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took my son to the pool yesterday, for the first time in a couple of weeks as it's been a bit cooler lately. He really enjoyed himself with his new swim vest as it allowed him to have a little more freedom of movement (i.e. I didn't have to completely hold him the whole time).
We are still eating birthday cake (whyyyyy did I make it so big?!) so nutrition hasn't been fantastic, but I still recorded a deficit.
@TeresaW1020 I hope your computer got fixed and your hair turned out well.
@TwistedSassette Very cute pic with Santa, he does look like he made friends with Santa!
Hi all. Thanks for the good wishes for my dog. He is fine, although we can't completely find out what happened, we think he had a bad reaction to a new medication. When we picked him up last night, he was alert and ready to go home.2 -
It is hump day!!!! Middle of the week, I can see the weekend coming.
@trooworld I am so glad your pup is ok!!
@Jactop and @leonadixon Congrats on the weight loss!!! Losses in November and December are extra awesome!!
@TwistedSassette I love the pics of your son!! He is precious. Keep making those memories. Hubby and I both loved the pickleball lesson. We are trying to do one a week till we learn more. When COVID restrictions are removed it will be much easier. Our church has an "Outreach Center" and my job is to manage it. In the Center we have open play for Pickleball 4 times a week. I'm looking forward to eventually being able to take a lunch break and play.
@Cornanda Thank you. I am so excited to get rid of some meds.
@buniphuphu I hope you have a great trip to Tennessee!!
@TeresaW1020 New computer - exciting. Hair appt day - love those days!!
@AustinRuadhain Love seeing all the green!!! It is inspiring to see someone keep making it happen!!!
@raleighgirl09 The covid stuff is tough. It is a struggle on so many levels. I am ready for a day of some normalcy!!!
Heading out to shop for some our church teenagers. Plan to have lunch with my hubby at one of my favorite places - Chicken Salad Chick. Love the soup and chicken salad there. I can't believe Christmas is a week from Friday and so much left to do. Trying to keep the true meaning in the forefront of my mind!! Hope everyone has a great day!!!
F2F Survey Report (a bit long, but please read!)
A big thank you to all the people who responded to our survey! Sixty-four responses were submitted. There was a lot of love, and many great ideas. Here are the highlights and some insights into how you can get even more out of F2F:
First of all, over 96% of you find that being on one of the F2F teams has helped you lose weight and improve fitness, 41% consistently and 56% at least some of the time. This is great! Most people are active in the team chats, and enjoy them as the best part of F2F.
The full group challenges are used by about half of the respondents. There are a few people who are not aware of them, or just get frustrated with MFP navigation. I know that navigating around the different areas of F2F can be tricky, especially if you are using a phone or tablet, but if you all bookmark/mark as favorite the F2F “home” page, you can find everything from there more easily. Here it is:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/114605-fat-2-fit-weight-loss-challenge-and-support-group
Full group challenges are meant to be optional, so there is no problem if you don’t have time or they do not interest you. We try to vary them as much as possible. Some people would like more fitness-based challenges, especially if they include modifications for those who need them. We’ll keep this in mind! If you have other suggestions, they are always welcome in the Idea Lounge (get there from the main page link above).
Internal team challenges also get about a 50% thumbs up (step teams, etc.) and some people would like to see more of that, others find it just clutters up the chat thread. Keep reading for some ideas on how to improve your experience if you are not feeling like your team does it for you!
One of F2Fs strengths is the openness to different approaches, ways of supporting one another, ages, levels, and general styles. A few people who answered the survey were unhappy with what I would call the team style or “feel”. Too much chat, not enough chat, too many challenges, not enough, too strict, too open - you get the idea. If you are feeling any of those things, please take some time to read the other team chats. Just browse through a few days of each, and see if there is one that fits your own style better than where you are. A change of team is always possible, and sometimes gives renewed energy and feeling more “at home”. Never hesitate to ask for a change if you want to give that a try!
If you want to make your team even better, go ahead and suggest some ideas. See what your teammates think, get involved, and you will improve your own weight loss while helping others. Don’t just wait for the captains to do everything :-)
A couple other problems people encountered that can’t really be fixed easily:- Tracking difficult? Not sure what this means. Members do not need to track - only post weekly weigh-ins. If you have any problem, please ask on the team chat or by message. I’m sure it can be made clearer.
- Too many new people on the team at the beginning of each month. No one likes it when this happens. This is why it is super important to make new people feel welcome, have their posts answered, spend some time chatting with them so they do not feel like strangers and don’t just disappear. No team needs new members if no one leaves… it is in everyone’s interest to build a community where you only need a couple of new people from time to time. The first week each month is the key to keeping members, but sometimes it just isn't the right moment, or they signed up for too many things. It happens - so do your best to keep them, and don't sweat it too much if they decide to leave.
Some new ideas that might be fun:- Body measurements instead of just weight - maybe monthly?
- Full group thread on how to set goals, kind of a step-by-step
- Weekly milestones? Habit tracker record for the week, fitness goals accomplished, etc.
- Maintenance chat - there is one! Called “Goal Zone” - check it out! Link from main page.
- Full group discussion threads - check out the Idea Lounge (can be ANY kind of ideas), and the Recipe thread.
- Buddies - feel free to set this up with anyone on your team, or if you want to know who has which fitness tracker, there is a thread on the main page for that as well.
@adhmrh - Hurray to your pickleball session! I had never heard of Chicken Salad Chick, but it sounds fun!
OhMyGosh yes to being behind this holiday season. My son wants spritz cookies, and I MUST make them today!
@trooworld - I am SO happy to hear your dog is doing better. Phew. Hugs to you and your puppy! 🙏
@Jactop and @leonadixon - Woohoo! Great weigh-ins! Congratulations on being DOWN this week! You guys are so inspiring! 🎉🥳
@TwistedSassette - Oh, my, that picture of your son with Santa is SO adorable! It is so great that things in Australia are gong so well. Not so great in my corner of the world. *sigh*
@Cornanda - Hurray to getting holiday stuff done. I am behind.
All trips outside the house are now super exciting here. We needed to go get a few things for my son's camping trip this weekend, and he was a bit nonplussed that his dad and I were ]both excited to need to go shopping at the sporting goods store. We took him and both grabbed new things we needed and it was, yeah, way more exciting than it would have been a year ago. Also less crowded, which was kinda nice. Even masked and making sure to get in and out fast, it was a treat.
@buniphuphu - Swimming extra sounds like a great plan. Have fun on that trip!
@TeresaW1020 - I so sympathize with the distraction of setting up a new computer. That always is so disruptive. Hopefully the dust will settle soon! I hope your hair appointment goes well.
@Katmary71 - How are you doing this morning? 🤗
@Sammydee2015 - So glad you are staying as a cheerleader while you need time off!
Oh, and maybe it is the week for scales dying. My food scale died this week and I had to get a new one. Erg.4 -
@leonadixon & @Jactop Congrats on your losses this week!
@trooworld I'm glad your doggo is ok! And yes, my boy definitely made friends with Santa, he was telling him all about the bell and everything - it was so cute!
@adhmrh How fun! It would be great to be able to get some fun fitness in on your lunch break! I know just what you mean about the time running out before Christmas, I still have so much to do!!
@GretchenReine Wow!! What a great weigh in this week! You will have to let us know what you have done differently as I know you were getting very frustrated at home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have a morning tea for our Secret Santa gift exchange at work this morning. There will be lots of delicious foods that I will have to try to ignore! I will allow myself to taste some, but I don't want to go overboard.
I need to try to get more exercise in too, I've been slacking off a bit and making excuses. I'm feeling really tired lately and I'm not getting enough sleep, so it just snowballs from there. On the bright side, I only have today and tomorrow left at work, then I don't come back until the 31st! I'm so looking forward to that break.

I KNOW you have been working on your fantabulousness - so lemme know what you rocked so far this week!

I am so angry with myself right now. I had been doing so good keeping my calories in the green for the past 2 weeks. I know being over by 131 calories isn't a big deal for most, but it is for me.
Thank you for letting me rant. I hope everyone is doing good this evening.6 -
Correction- I went over by 331.3
-
@buniphuphu I noticed you haven't been swimming, hope you're not too sore. Get back in there, Dory!
@TwistedSassette I'm glad yoga is still happening! Birthday cake is definitely a challenge, I haven't quite gotten back in the wagon since my birthday. Your son is totally relaxed with Santa!
@trooworld So glad your dog is home and doing better.
@adhmrh Great point about Christmas and remembering the true reason behind it. I know the religious reason but I think the point is driven home this year how lucky I am to have a close family and friends.
@jugar I totally forgot to do the survey, thank you for the great Information! If I can help with anything let me know, I've been modifying things for ages because of my back and nerve issues.2 -
@AustinRuadhain Thank you for asking and happy Wed! My boyfriend and I just went and looked at Christmas lights. Can't say it was very exciting but it was nice to get out of the house!
@GabiV125 huge hug!
@Sammydee2015 I love that! I started doing arm resistance bands again!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Just keep trying to do a little better each day, you got this!

Hey gang! I've been really tired, have a couple more Christmas gifts to get when I go to Trader Joe's and then I'm done.

@TwistedSassette Thank you! Honestly, all I did differently was try to eat a little less and make sure I was getting all of my water in. I hope you had a great time at your Secret Santa!
Happy Thursday everyone! Every other week I work remote (this week is one of those weeks) and I find that I'm much more sedentary when I'm not in the office. I'm trying to be careful with my food and not doing any snacking.
I'm counting down til my daughter comes back to me on Saturday afternoon. I miss my little bug so much. She's excited because she just turned 12 and she can workout with me at the gym now, no more mandatory kids' camp...so I ordered her some workout clothes for while she's here. That will get me back to the gym for sure!!! I refuse to disappoint my daughter!
I hope everyone has a great day and crushes their goals!4 -

GACK! I knew I was going to hate posting this! I've been a road warrior the past couple days, a lot of driving - and couple that with not great choices and it's a big swing. I'm not at home with my scale and can't weigh today but this was yesterday's weight and will have to suffice. My below daily habits have suffered, I have several days of no to them all - looking forward to checking in later tonight with some YESES!! =>

@GabiV125 I understand the levels....... Just got to dust ourselves off and get back to it today, even if it isn't not perfect
@bethanie0825 and @GretchenReine great weigh ins, guys! WOOT - so happy for your progress! Especially nice after having some tough ones.... =>
@Katmary71 we went out and cruised around looking at lights several days ago and it's nice - and was cheerful which was what I was seeking! I don't know about you, but I love TJ's all the time but especially at Christmas. There's something about the atmosphere there, kinda hippie nifty - when can follow TJ's with Starbucks, I've got a happy afternoon! Have not done that in a very long time, since way before COVID, even.
@vegan4lyfe2012 Thinking of you having a better day today - I think a lot of the team is having some up days and down days....here's to our brand new UP DAY!!
@SammyDee2015 love the kangaroo!! Today I am rockin' today and that's my goal! Going to make some chicken soup for dinner which always helps keep calories lower
@TwistedSassette Yay for upcoming time away!! I bet your son is getting excited with all of the commotion and energy swirling around with the holidays! I was in a Zoom yesterday with my new coworkers and they were all doing Secret Santa! I had not even considered that as a remote type of thing but they pulled it off!
@AustinRuadhain I've never been a big shopper but it totally can be a highlight these days! An outdoor store is fun, hope your son enjoys his camping trip - we have had such cold weather here, I bet Texas is warmer but still has a chill in the air!5 -
Good morning Team Slimpossibles!! I want us to talk about going into the New Year and how we can make our team even more awesome! The survey that we moderators just sent out to the whole group was very helpful and gave us much to talk about. However, what I want to talk about is THIS team! My favorite team!
I would love all your input on ways we can make the Slimpossibles even better. I really like how supportive we are with each other and in my opinion that is our greatest strength. But do you want something more? Do you want something less?
Challenges: Do you participate in the whole group challenges? Would you want to see a challenge every month in our group? If so what kind of challenges would help and be the most fun?
Conversation: We do great with our daily check-ins and responding to each other, so that shouldn’t change. But would you want me to post more questions to stimulate conversation? Would you like to have conversations that are more topical such as diet, fitness, mindset, etc?
I hope you all read the post that our group owner Liselyn posted yesterday. As she pointed out there are lots of options for you, including choosing a new group if this one doesn’t suit your style. I would hate to see you go but even more, I would hate to see you leave Fat2Fit because you weren’t getting what you need.
I hope you will respond to me either here and let’s get some conversation going and the ideas flowing. You can also send me a private message with anything that is on your heart. One of my New Year goals is to make this group thrive!
5 -
@adhmrh Thanks, me too! I can't believe Christmas is almost here, either. Have a great day!
@AustinRuadhain Thanks, me as well. He's back to his old self like he never stayed at the Ritz Carlton (that's what I'm calling his stay at the vet's because it was so expensive!).
@TwistedSassette Thanks. Aww, that's cute! I hope you enjoy the morning tea and Secret Santa. Wow, that's great you will be off for so long. Enjoy!
@SammyDee2015 I have rocked tracking! How about you?
@Katmary71 Thank you. You've been tired, but how has your pain level been?
@TeresaW1020 I'm very happy with how the group is run. I honestly can't think of anything to change. I get a lot out of being in this group. I sometimes participate in the whole group challenges, which I enjoy when I do. I am ambivalent about a challenge every month in our group. I like the idea of sometimes having topical conversations: maybe once a week? We seem to have a lot to talk about without any questions lol!
Good morning all. This week has been a trainwreck and I just can't wait to start over on Saturday. I've tracked (most of the time) and I ate a nice salad for dinner last night, but that is about the extent of my healthy habits.4 -
@SammyDee2015 - this week I rocked being inconsistent in eating and exercise, being cranky and moody. Hopefully there’s a finite quantity of those and I exhausted mine. You know how people buy stuff from pharmacy on December 30 to use up the remaining funds on their HSA? Like that.2
-
@GabiV125 Sending you hugs. It's a tough time of year for consistency. You will bounce back!
@bethanie0825 Congrats on your loss this week - little losses all add up!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Don't be too hard on yourself. You haven't undone all your hard work by having one day over target. And even though you were over target, you might have still been in a deficit (albeit a smaller one than planned) since your target (I assume) is below maintenance. Get back on the horse today - you got this!
@GretchenReine Sounds like that has worked, so good job! Sometimes I forget how important water is.
I'm glad you'll have your daughter back soon and how motivating she can go with you to the gym! Wonderful!
@raleighgirl09 Sending hugs your way. Driving always makes me retain water. Always. I don't know why! Doesn't seem to matter how much water I drink or even if I stay away from the salty fast foods. Must be something to do with cab pressure or something else scientific that I don't understand! Glad to see you're jumping right back in to your daily habits though.
Regarding Secret Santa, it can definitely be done remotely! I follow a blog called Fat Mum Slim, and she organises a worldwide gift exchange every Christmas - literally hundreds of people join and you just post your gift to your recipient. This year she had to drop the worldwide one and just run one for Australia, Europe and America separately, since the postage might be an issue (like, I know that for a while you could not post from Ireland to Australia, they just had no logistic route to get it there). It's really fun to be part of, we all join in a Facebook group where we answer questions about our likes & dislikes so you can "stalk" your recipient and figure out what to buy for them. My sister got me onto it about 4 or 5 years ago, we have a little tradition now where we open our gifts from this exchange at midnight on Christmas Eve.
@TeresaW1020 Like you, I love how supportive this group is and the daily checkins that some of us do help to stimulate conversation as we work through our struggles. I like the idea of having topical conversations too, sometimes you don't know what might trigger a response for someone if they haven't thought about that aspect before. I don't really participate in the whole group challenges anymore, but that's partly because I'm in a few other challenge groups on MFP and so I don't really need the extra challenges. I probably wouldn't participate in a group challenge for the same reason, but would depend what the challenge is. I like the 100 day countdown one that some of us are still doing because I could set my own challenge for that time.
I agree with Michael there, this is the best team ever!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I survived the morning tea. I did eat a few morsels, but then skipped the lunch I brought (which was only a cheese sandwich anyway) so ended up under calories for the day. I feel good that I didn't overdo anything!
Here's a group photo of us all about to enjoy our morning tea and gifts!
It's finally Friday so it's my last day of work before my break. So excited! But much to do and I woke up with a headache this morning that just won't budge so it's going to be a long day.
@raleighgirl09 I'm going to try to get to Trader Joe's tomorrow, I'm on Facebook groups and all the Christmas goodness is selling out! I need to get their Candy Cane Lane tea, it's seasonal and I drink it year-round.
@trooworld I'm having a bad pain day today, thanks for asking. I was injured when I had surgery for endometriosis, I've been worse than normal because my female problems are worse these days but my ob/gyn is too far for me to drive to so I'm just drinking a lot of cannabis tea and praying for menopause. On top of the pain I'm under a lot of stress, I'm hoping once I get some sleep I'll wake up and tomorrow will be a better day.
