@apple852hk Ohhh no! You might need to have a talk with your sweet friend about gifts that won’t cause you trouble. You sound just like me and if there is chocolate or sweets in my world then I will eat them all. This is a very hard time of the year for people like us when yummy sweets are everywhere. I am going totally sugar-free for the month of January. Care to join me? ;) And you should post a picture of your origami!

@Coranda Ohhh thank you so much for your sweet words! And this group wouldn’t work without wonderful members like you and so many others we have on the Slimpossibles. <3

@vegan4lyfe2012 I get that you are unhappy with the scale but you have done so great and your body might need a minute to adjust. Just keep doing what you know works and you will get in the 180s in no time. That is also what I’m telling myself. I’m 1.6 lbs away from being 189.9 and I want it bad!!

@trooworld Whoa!! :o Those cookies are not something a girl should watch when she has been fasting for 22 hours. That is when I watched the video and my stomach was like, “STOP torturing me and give me cookies!!!” :D What kind of gifts are you making for your coworkers?

@Katmary71 At least I wasn’t the only one drooling over those cookies! We must abstain from food porn! :D

Good morning team! Yesterday we had a guest pastor who has been a missionary pastor in Kenya for 30 years. He gave such a great message that I’m still fired up and so thankful for my sweet little church. :) I have a busy day planned. First, I have to do a leg workout that is sure to murder my body because it’s a new phase in the program and those are always harder. Then I’m going to have lunch with my friend and get the gossip on her new job and talk about church business. She is the children’s pastor and I’m considering switching from upper elementary Sunday school teaching to taking over the K-through 2nd graders when we start back up next year. After lunch, I will head over to Walmart and get the grocery shopping done for the week. I need the fixings for my Christmas beef stew dinner. :)

    SUPER PROUD of this team!!
December is one of the hardest months of the year and we rocked it this week. Yes, some of us had some struggles and that is OK because I know you will turn those struggles into victories. The Slimpossibles are unstoppable!! B)<3

    Monday check in

Hi gang - man, the Slimsters are ROCKIN' all the WEIGH!!! WOOHOO, way to go! Excellent job, especially as we round the corner and approach the end of a month and of a year. What a year, am I right??????? I keep thinking that 5 years from now, much of it will be just a memory and I shouldn't base my everyday emotions on it.

    Sunday goal stats
    Check in: no
    Water: no
Food logged (pre-logged?): no because I didn't log everything, meaning the chocolate after dinner and the eff it pimento cheese on crackers moment
Basic calorie goal: not even close - way over
    10,000 steps: no

As I read all of yesterday's posts this morning, I thought - wow, I wish I had been a part of that losing! Then - wow, I wish I wasn't in need to have been part of that losing! Then the reality - wishing will never, EVER make it happen. Wishing is not actions, planning, perseverance. Wishing obviously won't keep me out of the kitchen and making better choices. Wishing - in short - is the worst diet plan, eating style and method of improving that was ever wished for. It sucks.

I'm going to pre-log right after I am done with this, and grab a full water bottle to start the day with. I'm planning a long lunchtime walk and after work I need to go do a little last minute shopping so I believe I'll get the 10,000 steps today. I'll structure eating to plan for a snack before bed - I'm thinking about how I just chuck it all at the end of the day and I need to be prepared with something better than wishing I didn't suddenly find my feet moving into the kitchen and my hand reach for the fridge door and.....you know, I'm not dumb. I know what the issues are and just need to say enough is enough before I actually get up to go into the kitchen. Anyway, I'll plan a bowl of cereal for tonight.

Like @Katmary71 I am having pants issues - and I gave away my size 12 pants so the size 10s getting snug is a problem. Lucky me, I am right where I always said I need to be when I am gaining weight after losing weight: AWARE. So, Maria, you're aware - now what?

    CW- 146.4

I forgot to weigh in yesterday.
I've had a week of uncontrolled eating! But the last few nights I haven't snacked past 8pm, been more mindful of the snacks I've had during the day and I am walking everyday. This has stopped the weight increasing even further. Hopefully I will pull back this gain and help towards the team overall loss.

@Katmary71 LOL!!! It does have that vibe. Sorry I made you crave them.

@TeresaW1020 OMG no, not the time! I made them each a notebook with a decal that relates to them personally on it. And I made them a Christmas card. See the pic below for an example of the notebooks. That missionary pastor probably had a lot of wise things to say, being in Kenya for 30 years must have given him a lot of experiences. I hope you enjoy your lunch with your friend.

Hey Slim friends. Popping in with a quick question. I’m a bit meticulous about logging my food.

Today I have made 3 cookies and 3 sweet treats. I haven’t eaten a piece of anything. I have just had a taste here and there.

Any thoughts on how to track???

@adhmrh when I have been meticulous (which I am not, at the moment), I have used 1/3 as my tasting measure. YMMV, as they say!

    Weigh In Day: Monday
    PW 138.7
CW 137.3 - yay! I get to contribute to the team in a good way this week! Out to do it again next week!

    Check-in for Sunday
    🟢Food on plan, weighed, logged
    🟢Calories in the green
🟢Workout (50+ min) - 91 minutes platform stepping, and a bit of walking
    🟢Breathing exercises
🔴Martial arts forms (I changed my morning routine and broke my long-standing habit. Back at it tomorrow!)

    Monday Goals
    🟢Food on plan, weighed, logged
⚪Calories in the green (so far, so good! and I have closed the kitchen for the night!)
⚪Workout (50+ min) (not yet - 43 min so far)
    🟢Breathing exercises
⚪Martial arts forms (Didn't get it done at my old morning time, but will get it done before bed.)

@adhmrh - Wow to all your willpower, baking but not eating, especially with such a stressful week going on.
I am meticulous, too. When I have done estimates like that, I have done them (you may laugh) using the unit of Reese's peanut butter cups. One is about 100 calories and is a mouthful. Half is a dainty bite. MFP will let you enter the recipe, and you can weigh a smidge and get a really good idea, if you like.
I so hope that your quarantine ends us being just an inconvenience, with nobody ill.

@gwamajtw91 - Great to see you checking in! You almost held it steady in the midst of holiday season!

@trooworld - The butterfly notebook is gorgeous!
Oh, and I am a librarian, too, or was. I'm a stay-at-home mom these days.

@krea4 - Hugs for the weigh-in, and a big HURRAY for the fact that you noticed (before weigh-in!), have interrupted the things that have you headed away from your goal and are doing things you are proud of! Keep it up!

@TeresaW1020 and @Katmary71 - Oh, my. Based on the food porn description, I am continuing to resist clicking That Link. The idea of a food porn soundtrack made me laugh out loud!

@raleighgirl09 - Maria, I always feel wiser after reading your posts. Thank you for sharing all your thinking with us. All your comments about wishing are AWESOME! And prelogging -- what a great next step!

This team is so SO inspiring. Thank you. Thank you all.

@adhmrh I do count my bites, licks, and tastes. In my case, I would count one of those as 1 pt if it is a small amount (I'm on WW). In your case, I would count it as something small, like maybe 50-75 calories per B, L, or T.

@AustinRuadhain Congrats on the loss! Wow, I didn't know you are a librarian too, how cool is that! Once a librarian, always a librarian I say. Did you work at a public library? I work in a corporate/higher ed setting but used to work in a public library.

Hi all. I'm doing "okay" but I'm not doing the best I can do. I'm distracted by the upcoming holidays and not really thinking about my health. That is not to say that I am eating off-plan every day, that isn't really happening (although I did have an incident with tortilla chips yesterday). I really do think crafting is saving me from going off the deep end: I don't want to get crumbs, or stuff from eating with my fingers, on the paper I am doing things with. Have a good day, everyone!

@raleighgirl09, Yup we can’t wish our weight off. If we could, I would have been rocking a smoking hot body 30 years ago. We can’t count on motivation to get us there either because motivation will disappear as soon as we find it. It’s commitment, determination, and sheer grit that will get us where we need to be and keep us there. I KNOW you know that, and you will pull it together and not bust out of your pants. <3

@krea4 Mindfulness is the key to keeping that scale from tracking in the wrong direction. Good for you for getting your head back in the game. You will get that gain off! :)

@AustinRuadhain Yayyy for the good loss this week! Yeah, I don’t suggest you click on that chocolate chip cookie video if you are in the least bit hungry or having a craving! :D

@trooworld Your gifts to your co-workers are super cute! I think a homemade gift from the heart is so special. It’s a super hard time of the year to stay focused on our health and our goals. I’m doing great right now but in the back of my mind is what is about to happen from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day. How can I best manage those days with enjoyment and still not end up with a huge gain? Like I told raleighgirl, it’s going to come down to sheer determination. We can do it! And worse case we will forgive ourselves and move onward. We are going to rock 2021!! B)

Good morning everyone! Yesterday, I was proud of myself. I went to lunch at Panera and before going I Googled what to eat low carb on a low carb diet. I ended up with the Green Goddess chicken salad minus the tomatoes and subbing the Green Goddess dressing for the Caesar dressing. When the lady asked me what side I wanted (chips, apple, bread) I said NO side! I went in determined to stick to my plan. Yes, that little Devil >:) showed up on my shoulder trying to get me to get a sandwich or my favorite cup of broccoli cheese soup and baguette. But I didn’t! o:) How wonderful would it be if I could always make choices that left me feeling proud instead of angry? That would be super groovy!! The scale even blessed me by being down a little more this morning. Now, I just have to behave myself today! I’m off to work out and then do some much-needed housework. You all have a wonderful day! :)

    Tuesday Goals

    Breathing exercises

    @TeresaW1020
Yep. Still staying away from the choco chip cookie video. There's only so much I can stand, and baking cookies for my son is going to take it all, I think. I go pick him up from camping tomorrow afternoon, so today is a Baking Day! Also housecleaning and then food planning for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I am super excited about all that.
Huge HURRAY to your win at Panera! All that planning really paid off for you!
And hey, since planning worked so well -- are any parts of Christmas-through-New Year's things you can plan for?
By the way, you have me trying IF a bit. I have taken to extending my no-foods window by starting the day with coffee instead of a smoothie, and pushing food consumption out to lunchtime.

    @raleighgirl09
I kinda love that you tossed the bigger pants. It's such a huge step to do that. And for what it's worth, I am convinced that this is what successful maintenance looks like. The pants occasionally get tight, and you notice and nudge things the other direction. My pants were tight in October and are not tight now.

    @trooworld
I have jumped around a bit, library-wise. I worked in a public library, a university library and have run a corporate library. One of my best jobs ever was as an information specialist, hunting down info worldwide. If there were a card, I'd need to carry it.
Your "incident with tortilla chips" made me laugh. And it made me think of my favorite toy store, which has a "days since the last velociraptor incident" sign in their window which makes me giggle every time. Sharing link to something similar in case a giggle is helpful.
Crafting sounds like a brilliant way to stay out of food trouble!

I think this is going to be 10 days of falling off the wagon and getting back on as quickly as I can. Some sweet treats have been made here. And yesterday I "had an incident" with them (lol @trooworld ) Today, I've added a few control measures- and it's working! I added extra exercise this week. Usually I would be "too busy" to exercise at all this week. And I've scheduled some of my best healthy dinners for right after Christmas. I'm just doing the best I can, and it's OK.

    Happy Holidays to all!

My last 3 weeks I went up and down the same 2 lb, so after Christmas I can only guess which one will show on the scale 😁

I had some average days lately with short but really wild mood swings in between, just to spice things up, I assume. Yay, middle age!
I’ll login later with my updates for the countdown to New Year.

@TeresaW1020 Thank you! As I said, each cover is different, the butterfly notebook is for someone that 1) likes butterflies 2) has gone through a divorce and a total transformation. Yes, determination is the right word. So far, I'm hanging on but my weight is up. That's great you were able to stick with your plan at Panera! Well done!

@AustinRuadhain Your best job ever sounds really interesting! One of the things I do for my job is I work on a team that fact-checks every social media post that comes from our marketing department. It is a lot of hunting down information and facts and making sure they didn't twist the words out of context. It's interesting but can be maddening looking to find the source of their information (99.9% of the time, the posts just come to us with no sources). LOL! I love the sign! I need one of those, I need to blame my bad eating incidents on a velociraptor. ;)

@Cornanda You sound like you had a hiccup but are fighting for control and winning the battle! Well done! Happy Holidays to you as well.

@AustinRuadhain How did the baking go? Were you able to resist? I sure know I wouldn’t be able to. My main plan for the holidays is to do the best I can. I’m sticking to clean fasting for at least 19 hours a day (except for Christmas morning), doing my workouts, and trying to watch the carbs where I can so I can splurge a little on the goodies. Good for you for doing some IF!! Now, let me ask you is that coffee black, or is there sweetener and cream in it? ;)

@Cornanda It doesn’t have to be a complete fall, does it? Maybe you can just dangle off the wagon but still keep a hand on it so you can jump back in with more ease than if you fall off completely. That is what I’m planning to do! Extra exercise and making some healthy meal plans are great steps to take. You got this!! <3

@GabiV125 Great weigh-in!! This is a hard time of year so just keeping doing your best and looking forward to the New Year! :)

@trooworld with Christmas on and your weigh-in day on Saturday, you are going to have to give yourself some grace with the scale if it’s a number you don’t like. Whatever happens, Christmas will end and we will all begin again. I should make that into a bumper sticker! :D

Hello! Not much going on here today, which I’m thankful for. I did a workout, but my body is tired after doing 7 days straight. I plan to push through and do another one tomorrow and then take Christmas off. I’m getting excited for Christmas! Presents are super fun rather I’m the receiver or the giver. I’m really happy that we splurged this year and got my mom lots of things. She has done without for so much of her life that this will be a real treat for her and for us. I’ve been working on my goals for 2021. There might be a topic question posted after Christmas for the group to share their New Year reflections and aspirations. ;)

@TeresaW1020 I think you are right. My weight has been up all week. I don't think it's magically going to go down after I eat homemade lasagna and garlic bread. ;) You should make that a bumper sticker! LOL I'm excited for Christmas, too! I love this time of year. I gave my husband one of his gifts last night (a beer glass that I customized and put a gift card to a bottle shop in it). That's nice you spoiled your mom. <3
