Excited to start the new year with all of you. I am slowly getting used to 1800 calories instead of the 4000+ I used to chow down on every day. I hope to hit onederland by June of this year and then do a body recomp.5

I saw this statement on reddit and I figured I'd share it for anyone feeling discouraged from holiday eating. Be good to yourself

I'm definitely in the planning mood. I got my planner and then I added 2 petite planners. One for wellness to plan workouts, meal planning and track monthly measurements and progress. The other one is for goal planning. I'm adding a picture of the goal planner vision board page and the goal planning page. It also tracks progress toward your goals.
I'm so impressed with your planners and your entries. I've never tried to formally lay out a plan like that and I can see how it can be inspiring and maybe keep one on track. hmmm...must look them up.2 -
You have a new member heading your way ...Please welcome @DD2654

@conleywoods you are so inspiring. All I think of when I see that is, 1: wow, her penmanship! And 2: holy cow, am I ever not that organized! My goal is to drop another 20lbs but I haven't given myself a deadline, I'm just floating along with little changes trying to get used to these smaller portion sizes. Like @happimess01 I'm used to eating at least double what I'm supposed to. This is my biggest challenge. I will slowly add in exercise, but I hate it unless it's a team sport so I don't want to rely on that for weightloss cause as soon as I can quit a workout, I will do it! If there's no one else there to yell at me to keep going or to be embarrassed in front of if I quit after 4 minutes, I'll just stop and give up. In the past, I've planned my day around going to the gym, but in reality I ended up getting changed, driving 20 minutes each way, and doing 3 minutes on the treadmill then leaving. Probably an hour and a half eated to burn 20 calories. Hats off to those of you who actually enjoy your workouts! I just want to play hockey. Not currently available because of covid, but hopefully I can get back on the ice soon. Sadly the section of river I live on doesn't freeze because of the current so I can't get out and skate at will. Snowshoes are on the wish list so maybe there will be a clearance sale before spring and I can get some good long walks in. Can't quit when you're over a mile from home with no other way back!!

Planning for disorganised people:
I am really bad at planning. I tend to make it up as I go along, have some general principles, and then wing it. It often does not work.
I found a useful "formula" that is a good place to start.
D x V + F > R
Dissatisfaction with how some things are, times Vision for what you want to achieve, plus First Steps (action) towards your vision, MUST together be greater than Resistance.
You don't need to work on the Resistance part of the equation - but build strong vision and action, and don't be afraid of that dissatisfaction. Define it very specifically so you know what actions to build.
What hinders you? What unhealthy habits have created the things you want to change? Dissatisfaction is a great place to start your planning. Figure out what specific things you want to leave in the past.
Then be sure to counter it with a vision of what you want to create.
Then make the FIRST steps towards that vision. Make that part doable, preferably measurable. Don't start with a daily hour in the gym or 10,000 steps if you are not there already. These FIRST steps can happen any time even if you have been at this for a long time. The first steps for right now are very different than the first steps for last year or some other time. What's the story right now? What can you do just about every day that will make a difference?
I love hearing how each of you starts to build your plan, and then as we go, the ups and downs happen and the revisions to the plan happen, and hopefully progress is made! I'm about to revise my plan, and here I am 8 years into maintenance. 9 years from when I started seriously making this work. I still need a plan.
Let's hear yours!7 -
Part of my approach for 2021 will be to actually track less things haha - sounds counterintuitive but I think I was putting too much pressure on myself and was getting too obsessed with checking things off. So I re-worked a new spreadsheet tonight in anticipation of the new year, and the only things I will track are: weight, steps, did I workout (Y/N), and water intake. I know I am consistent enough now with steps that I will always get them done, and the same goes for my yoga. (Plus, I always have the calendar pdf so I can check things off there if I would like to).
I am also finally going to up my fitbit step goal! Thinking about trying 12,000 on for size.
I may consider adding in some other things through the year, but I want to start it off really simple. And of course, calories will keep going into MFP.
I didn't workout today, but I did get some yoga in, and a good 2 mile run + walk back the way I came, so I was happy with that.6 -
Ugh, this is the worst migraine. π₯
Can't look at screens much. Be back more when light doesn't feel like stabby pain.7 -

Love reading your posts. Welcome new folks.
@conleywoods I love your planners. They are beautiful.
I had good intentions today, then got a terrible pain in my shoulder blade. Pretty much did me in for the day. Hoping to get outside tomorrow.2 -

@terytha Hope you feel better soon!
@micki48 Same to you! Feel better!
@jugar I like your take on planning! I usually tend to save my super planning for work and live a more carefree life at home π
@PlaneMonkey I was always baffled by how people had such nice writing in their journals and vision boards. Mystery solved, it's a stupid stencil! LOL I felt kinda dumb I never thought about that.
I have not planned so specifically in the past but haven't been to impressed with my progress lately. Time to try something new.
Today was a nice relaxing day with frosty cold temps and sun. Went for an hour walk and everything was sparkling. Stayed under my calories and did a much better job balancing my macros today. I don't know why I really struggle to eat enough protein.3 -
I have this set of inspirational cards from the workout program called Barre Blends. I like to go through the stack and find a few that speak to me at that time. Here are the 3 I pulled out today.6 -
Last week, I suddenly went through the down phase. I cut off all my social media activity, including MFP. I was too busy with work and personal life recently, we are in the middle stage of buying our first house, it is good but a little bit scary, because I yet am not sure if this house is the one or if yet we have to wait to find the one that I get the feeling that this is the one. I did not log my foods, but I tried my best to not overeat and I stuck to the rule of no added sugar. I biked a few hours and did not buy any xmas dessert or food with high calories.
I feel better now, and I met a friend today morning for a walk.7 -
Oh my, so much to read... I haven't been logging or watching what I eat, and after the 5k on Christmas morning, I haven't exercised either...
It's fine, I will be back on track, today starts with food, tomorrow exercise... So some new stuff going on... My son bought a family gift after Christmas, well it's a "family" gift, till he moves out, he bought a Peleton Bike... EEEEE I'm so excited, it won't be here till Feb 6th though, apparently they can't make them fast enough...
I have learned, that eating badly makes Peri-menopause so much worse, OMG - I slept maybe 3 hours total last night, I had the hot flashes so bad... So I learned that different people have different triggers, and one of mine must be sugar, so I am tossing all of it today... this is miserable... ( that's why I"m not exercising today, I just feel so tired)
I accidentally forgot to delete my free trial for Fitbit Premium, so I paid for a full year today, so I decided to buy myself a new fitbit, I got the Sense... Not exactly sure how that was even remotely fiscally responsible, but like I told my husband, I will call it a reward for stepping out of my comfort zone and getting that new job !
My goals for the year, are simple, I want to learn to do a handstand, and I want to start writing... I've always wanted to write a book, I started a few when I was younger, but then kids, and life got in the way... I'm going to start with some short stories...
My youngest son is still home until the 3rd, so I won't be on much until then, as I only work today, and tomorrow, then I am off, so I will be back on Saturday to do the dreaded weigh in for a Jan starting weight, but alas, my last goal is to have that be the highest weight of the year !
Have a wonderful day !

@conleywoods You are a bad influence!!! I just ordered that planner. I have a Happy Planner for home, for school, for goals, budgeting, and my side hustle. I have purchased the Happy Planner fitness before but I didn't end up using it. That one looks different though. Do you still have Beachbody? Elise has 4 min meditations now that go with those cards. I have been picking one everyday.
@terytha feel better
@Gidgitgoescrazy That's probably a good thing that sugar triggers your symptoms. It will help keep your sugar in check. Enjoy your new Pelton, when it comes in.
@mbakhtiaruz I am sorry you have been feeling down. Taking a break from social media can definitely be refreshing. Buying your first house is very exciting. Congratulations!
I am pretty proud of my current workouts and eating. I wish the scale would reflect that.3 -
Happy Tuesday!
I am a little bit sad even on this happy Tuesday because I will be bringing my daughter to Montreal tonight for her to fly back to Alberta. We'll stay over in a hotel right at the airport to avoid having to get up and drive at some unspeakable hour of the wee morning. It will be sad to see her go, but we have had a great couple of weeks.
I am happy too. Spreadsheet fan that I am, together with one of the captains of team WeightNoMore, we have added a new feature. It is fabulous - thanks @minstrelofsarcasm !! We can now track everyone's LTD - loss to date - as long as we have your original starting weight from back when your losses began (your worst moment, in other words!). I have some of yours, but if you could add your original starting weight to your weigh-ins this week that would be great. Of course, it is optional, but it sure makes celebrating milestones a lot of fun. And I always love seeing numbers appearing automatically. It is magic.
@micki48 and @terytha - I hope the stabby pains have receded Sounds terrible. Rest and relax until they slope off far away.
OK - stuff to do. Back later!2 -
I will be back on Saturday to do the dreaded weigh in for a Jan starting weight, but alas, my last goal is to have that be the highest weight of the year !
/quote]
@Gidgitgoescrazy I really like that! ^^^^ No matter how this week goes, the goal is to have that Week 5/January starting weight be the highest number of the year! Thank you for that. I think it's great. How exciting to have new fitness "toys". Enjoy your kids this week.
@mbakhtiaruz It's great to be so in tune with what you need. A visit with a friend sounds wonderful. I have a virtual date with my best friend on New Year's Day. Finding and buying a new house can be one of the most stressful events of our lives. Good luck with all of that. I hope you find the home of your dreams (even if it's just for now.)
Thank you for your good wishes on the covid thing and the stabby pain. I feel like I've been nothing but complaining and bad news lately. 2020 may be getting the better of me. But alas, the new year is upon us and I am hopeful that good things will follow. The back pain was sudden, sharp and hung around all day. My anxiety about it gave me other scary symptoms. But after Aleve and sleep, it feels better today, so I don't think it was a heart attack (my go to scare thought) or an embolism. (God! Does any one else do this to themselves?) I think it was just muscles/nerve related. I did do 27 minutes of pilates on Christmas day after not doing any for a few weeks. So yay!
Today, I want to move more. I sat a lot yesterday worrying about said pain. Still can't do too much beyond my house because we are still on quarantine until the 5th. But, more steps, more little organizing projects, more thinking and writing about goals for the new year.
Hope you all make your day great!

@Kali225 WTG!!!!! Hitting all 7 days during this past week - you are the bomb.
I just had a good (cold) ramble in the woods, getting ready for a big sushi dinner, and then we'll head off to Montreal in time to crawl into bed.
@micki48
You are not alone in having one of those genius minds that can turn everything into the scariest possible things! I always call that "building dungeons in the sky". Keep on building, I say - and soon you'll have a castle!
Quote of the day - food for thought:
"To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan, and not quite enough time." Leonard Bernstein
So let's see those plans develop this week. And then let's set a few inspiring deadlines! Not necessarily for weight, but maybe adding 10 more seconds to a plank each week, or getting to your first 5k in a few weeks, lifting heavier, going more miles in the same amount of time on the exercise bike, whatever! Pick a date and see how you do. I guess I miss performing - those concert dates are the BEST inspiration to get practicing. I miss them, so I am going to set a few simple deadlines for myself to get out of the 2020 slo-mo feels.5 -
One more heading your way.... Please welcome @sarkrisd4

Well I did not exercise this morning, I slept so good, and I really needed it, so I slept in... Turns out my nerve pain pills work really well for hot flashes, and night sweats... who knew....
Anywho, tomorrow night is my night, I make a nice dinner to celebrate. We are having a Beef tenderloin, scalloped potatoes, green bean almondine and crab legs. I don't eat the crab legs, but it makes it so there is more beef tenderloin for me... LOL I'm excited, Christmas is fun, but New years is yummy... I haven't decided on a dessert yet, I am thinking something not so sweet, maybe a baked pear dish of some sort...
I am ready to start again on Friday, I know the official week doesn't start until Sunday, but I my mind said the 1st, so that's my day.... I must have thrown away 2lbs of fudge yesterday, I tried to give away some, but apparently with not much to do due to covid, alot of people baked and made goodies this year.. LOL - So in the trash it went, and ya know, I don't even feel bad about it !
Okay Hope you all have a great day !
