I had a great day yesterday. I logged a fairly low calorie, low carb, high protein day. I worked out. Then, after I put the kids to bed, I got a small peice of carrot cake. It actually made me feel yucky so hopefuI am DONE with sweets. The scale is going down. Today, I will continue to focus on eating clean and work out. I still have a lot of toys to put away.4

I hear you on the shortbread. I ate the last of my cardamom shortbread yesterday and no longer an option, hurray. Don't worry, we'll all get back on track .1 -

I thought I'd done well on Christmas, only to devolve the day after and eat lots cookies - even ones I don't love (why?!?!). But they're mostly all gone now, along with a sliver of lemon cheesecake that was delicious. With all that indulgence, time, and a sunny afternoon, I set out for a huge walk yesterday, a different route with some hills to climb on my route back. Loved it and thought I'd feel stiff today but feeling okay. The Fitbit calorie score for the walk was enough maybe to balance the intake. I used the recipe calculator to calculate one family standard recipe (smoked salmon with eggnoodles) and a mandarin orange dessert with jello, sour cream & vanilla icecream. I was a bit appalled at the results....more so when I think of past years and how without a thought, would eat and eat and eat well over a 'portion'....just tasted so good. I often double or triple recipes because we like leftovers, but when I made the salmon noodles the other evening I stuck to the single recipe. I'm thinking that maybe I need to do that more often (unless it's soup!) as there wasn't that big quantity calling my name to go back for another taste. A couple days before Christmas, we got indian takeout - I only ordered 1 main and 1 naan and we 3 split it. It was enough...well, I could have eaten more, much more, but it wasn't an option. So not that everyone needs to know the menu at my house but I"m just writing it down to try to cement that in my head....make less available and savor the portion.
Started to read Life is Hard Food is Easy last night - will take it a chapter at a time and will share any gleanings.4 -
I normally do not weigh at all between my normal weigh in day on Monday. But I wanted to "prepare" myself for a gain so I checked today. It is showing a gain, but not nearly as much as I anticipated and I am hopeful that some of it is still just water weight i am holding from sodium packed leftover lasagna for lunch and a processed frozen chicken patty for dinner. I just finished my coffee and will drink I nothing but water the rest of the day and see what the scale says tomorrow.3
-
@eggfreak No apologies for your food commentary. That is why we are hear. I love hearing how people work through the temptations and preparations. You are inspiring and comforting.
I have that book written in my notes so many times. I don't have it (yet), but am so looking forward to your gleanings and personal perspective. I'm sure it will be helpful to all of us.
Just checking in. Been sitting here drinking my water, talking to my bestie in Boston for the last almost two hours on zoom, so I better get up and move. Wishing you all a wonderful day full of good choices. We are still healthy on this end. Fingers crossed we all stay that way and can soon see each other again.
Air fryers, rice cookers, and new skillets! How fun!! Talk to you later.1 -

Well, team - we did not lose a lot this past week, but we lost some! Thanks to our hard-working top 3 for pulling us away from the brink of gains - you are fabulous @CurvyCalorie @happimess01 and @SMcFall0215
I am also thrilled that this week's full F2F challenge is the new year/new you theme for planning. Here in our team chat, let's get into the workshop and make sure our plans are doable, countable, fun (really?), and something that will not get boring or discouraging after a couple of weeks. Every time you post this week, throw out a question, an idea, a link - anything that will help us all to build a new plan if our old ones weren't working, or get back to the plan that was. New energy all around. And check out the group challenge too, see if there are any good ideas over there every day.
I followed a coyote's tracks all over my woods today - man, that thing must have been wearing a new step tracker and trying to hit the top of the leader board. It was everywhere. Once it even walked all along the entire length of a fallen tree, using it like a balance beam. Wish I could have seen it doing that! I love it when there is fresh snow that is not too deep - the clarity of the tracks makes for a really fun walk for me.7 -

Welcome to our first incoming new member for January!
@tschwery - we are looking forward to having you with us. It might feel a bit overwhelming at first - so don't try to catch up on our whole December craziness. Tell us a bit about yourself, and gradually you'll get to know everyone. We will switch into the January chat thread next Sunday and by then you'll be up and running. Post often! This week we are all revising or making our plans for January, so you are arriving at a good moment. good luck!4 -
Another newcomer heading your way ....Please welcome @sodonovan741

Will we be rolled over to January 2021?1

Don't forget to get your steps in this week. If you are taking a break and you usually give me your steps, please let me know. No worries. I plan to do the step report tomorrow, since so many are missing.
It's been a lazy day here. Not much exercise or steps. Food has been ok, but I need to get back to logging. That's one of my goals for the next three months. I need to start losing again. Held my ground for all of 2020, which isn't awful for a year with such craziness and a pandemic. But, I KNOW I can do better and need to.
Even though I have lost weight over the last 2 years and my body is definitely smaller, I had one of those "oh my goodness is that what I look like?" moments again. I was in a video that my SIL took of my sweet granddaughter singing to me. Eeeek. I thought I looked better than that. I'm not big on self shaming and I don't mean to, but I was not happy with what I saw. It's ok. It could have been the angle or whatever, but it was enough to say "get it together."
I will be working on my assessment of the last year and writing some new goals. I will share a cute new tracker I found for those of you visual folks. I hope you will all share your goals and visions for yourself for the coming year as well.
Head over to the weekly challenge. It offers a really great bunch of questions to get you started.

yes indeed! Unless you want to leave... You had missed a couple of weigh-ins so I was not sure if you were still with us! Glad to see you0 -
Steps for Sunday 12/27 10,421
It is actually probably a couple thousand higher but my step counter had an issue earlier and shut itself off somewhere during my work day.
I made pork chops and french fries in my new air fryer tonight. It was really good, but next time I'll do the fries a little longer or at a higher temp, they were not quite as crisp as I like, but still yummy. And without needing to use much oil, I had an under 500 cal dinner that included french fries, breaded pork chops, and cheesy broccoli pasta.5 -
I had a pretty good day. I did MBF workout. I didn't like workout 2 and 3 but now I am really getting into this program. It has a different feel and leaves me sore. I just took a bath with Epsom salt. I ate a lot of snacks foods, but got ina lot of vegetables. I just logged it was pleasantly surprised that my calories were still low and macros were good.
@jugar that is so crazy to see a coyote in the snow. I am used to seeing them here, in the desert. We get snow, but I have never seen a coyote in the snow.
@micki48 every time I see a photo of my self, I am in disbelief that I am really that big. 2021 is going to be your year, I can feel it.
@MandiSaysHey I love my airfryer!
Welcome new friends! I hope you all enjoy our group. I think you will find it is a very supportive group that keeps you motivated.1 -
Hello!
Today was great. I was under calories for the day. I did an hour of weights and increased my bench press weight from 32 lbs to 42 lbs😮. Later in the day I did an hour of ballet beautiful because it feels so good.
I'm definitely in the planning mood. I got my planner and then I added 2 petite planners. One for wellness to plan workouts, meal planning and track monthly measurements and progress. The other one is for goal planning. I'm adding a picture of the goal planner vision board page and the goal planning page. It also tracks progress toward your goals.
You guys can see on my vision board that my main goal is to lose 30 lbs this year. I have my action plans listed below. I will be breaking those down into smaller monthly goals. I have never made a pounds lost goal for a specific date. I think I am always so worried I won't be able to do it. This year I'm facing that fear with small doable steps.

How I managed a loss this week, I am not quite sure, but I'll take it!!6 -
@micki48 my steps for the last week!
The 2 days after Christmas were some of my laziest (and least-healthy eating) of the entire year, which I guess is fair - I needed a holiday break. I still got my long walks and steps done but I was literally on the couch the whole time otherwise. Today starts a recovery from all the eating this weekend for sure. I think I want to start setting some time-based water goals for myself each day, like by noon, finish 1 water bottle's worth, another by 4pm, and a final by 8pm? We'll see.
Awesome job for our team eking out the small drop - it was pretty encouraging that as a group, F2F actually gained this week, because I know I did and it's totally fine. Holidays are not the time to stress about food.
Welcome to the new members!!4 -
Greetings Team!

@jugar once more, I am going to log my weight on Thursday morning instead of Friday because there will surely be champagne galore on Thursday night haha.
For the new year, can I change my weigh-in day to Tuesday? (And then after I weigh-in 12/31, I will send my next update 1/5 right?) Trying to change some things up for 2021!1 -
@jugar, looking forward to turning the page to January. I am resetting my goal and would like to drop 10 lbs and see how I feel there...so not in the goal zone for January.
Looking to see the tracks in the snow is one of the few things I like about snow. Surprisingly, after that last snow, there were no coyote nor deer tracks in our yard.2 -

No problem to change days - I'll get you on Tuesdays starting Jan 5th, and Thursday for this week.1 -

Back on the regular team for you! Take it slow - see how it goes. I'm definitely heading back to the bottom of my maintenance zone, so we'll all be losing in January. Green green green2
