December, bright lights and shiny trinkets. Merry Christmas to all

So happy . November was rough. December will be better. Well helping myself by helping my friends study is almost over. We take the written tomorrow. I have a 50/50 chance that one of my study group will do well enough to move onto the oral boards.

So glad it is almost done. I would rather read a good book and exercise. Studying really cramped my style!

I hope you all are ready to make this your best ever December!

What are your plans for the month? Goals?

I want to start each day with some physical activity. Mountain climbers, pushups or maybe a few burpees. Still working on not eating late.

    Highest weight ever: 306
    November starting weight: 168.4
    November ending goal weight: 163
    Ultimate goal weight: 155
    9/30 - 168.8
    10/30 - 168.4
    12/1 - 167.2

November was hard for me too...Thanksgiving week for sure! Ended lower than I started so that's good.

Shelley - I may just press repeat on some of my November goals actually:

    Eat whole food
    Less carbs, more protein
    Limit alcohol
    Increase water
    Daily exercise

Even though we aren't really going anywhere or having anyone over with COVID....there will be temptations. Trying to make it as "normal" as possible. We are all struggling a bit here in my house as the cold weather looms and COVID continues. Bella's school keeps reporting more and more cases. Not sure how much longer it will stay open. She has been volunteering at the thrift store each week, so she seems to really like that. Listening to her tales of retail bring me back to my 1st job. Need to try to focus more on non-food related activities more.

    Here's to a healthy December!

We can all agree November was tough and December may be just as difficult but I plan to work very hard. Keep up the exercise, less snacking at night, more water, avoiding some of the Christmas temptations and posting daily for encouragement from you guys!

Together we can make this a great December!

We were going to walk this morning...get up a 4:00 a.m....out the door at 5:00 a.m. in the dark...home by 6:00 a.m. still dark, BUT, somebody...not me...did not set the alarm correctly. bwahahahahaha! We are going to walk for an hour after Ronan is picked up. :D

They're planning on distributing the vaccine starting in December, folks.

It feels so auspicious. Like a brand new world is about to open up! I think everyone will appreciate little day-to-day freedoms more now. For sure, seeing my friends is going to feel precious to me!

Wishing you all bright cheer, hope and a happy new future.

Has anyone does an extended fast? I normally do between 20 and 22 hours fasting each day, but hear so much about throwing a longer fast in to kick your metabolism. The thought of not eating within a day though.....lol.

I've been doing a 22 hour fast. It's been hard since we get Ronan now. He loves...loves...loves to watch My Little Pony or Paw Patrol on my computer (which is in the kitchen) and eat sour dough toast with peanut butter. EGADS!!! I cut off the crust of the bread and then cut it into squares for him. Now...the crust, which is slathered with pb, either goes in the trash immediately or into Beans mouth...or :p . What can I say??? The trash and the dog lost BIG TIME yesterday and then I ate the left over squares. Trash can today for sure!!! But usually I can make it to 7:00 p.m. and have a huge salad and protein bar!

I claim 149.8 this morning. I'm trying for 145.0 by New Year's Eve.

I read about someone fasting for 35 hours and my brain went crazy!

Chris walking in the dark on a beautiful day is such fun. Best set that alarm yourself next time!

    Paula I love your enthusiasm!

Well I passed the written. Actually there were only 3 of us who did. And they are all part of the group here already. So I am so happy. I only tested to be sure certain others did not get the position. Now there is no chance of that happening. Orals tomorrow. I am really not wanting the position. If I got it I would have to work 2 years more. Not this girl.

Haven't been sleeping great this week....keep getting up at 4am!

Went to the GYN for my annual visit yesterday...anew doctor. Boy was she awesome....great bedside manner. She cared. Feels so rare with my expertise managed care in the past few years. I was 15lbs down from last year (more or less.) She applauded my weight loss efforts big time and really celebrated my ability to keep the bulk of this weight off (especially during COVID...which is not what she is seeing with most of her patients.)

So girls....a good reminder to us all....we have been doing a great job here...ups and downs, but we come back each day to the playing field in all of our truth and we aren't quitting!! Progress is sometimes as much about the failures as it is successes (although that scale going up frustrates doesn't it?)

    Let's have a healthy day!!

    Karen,

So glad you like your new OB/GYN, she sounds great. And you're so right about the importance for us to remember how much we've accomplished already. I still remember reaching onederland; and when Kathy did it too. And now we're all bouncing around in it. We're great!

Happy Friday :) had a rough time sleeping this week probably because I back to work :) So my sister Jennifer has COVID. She knew she had it... but the 1st test came back negative, she never got the 2nd test back, and when she was short of breath she went to the ER and they gave her a rapid test. So now she's home resting trying to get rid of the beast. Going to go ahead and make her a meal this weekend and take it over for her family. Mom made Turkey soup on Thursday to try to help as well. She really feels terrible. Just hoping none of my nephews or brother-in-law get it.

Was happy to see 165.2 on the scale this morning (however temporary it might be)....boy would love to get in the 150s again. I remember how great it felt. So 154 is the top of a "normal" BMI for me...I'm not a fan of the whole BMI army honestly, especially if you are muscular (not my issue lol!), but I do think it is a good indicator. For me, I do have a significant amount of skin which I hope to get removed some day...hoping it weighs a lot lol! Sure feels like it ;)

Thinking about prepping some easy to grab veg this weekend from the produce store. Does anyone on here meal plan? I normally plan out the week the wekened before and food shop for the recipes. With my job, I sort of need to if we are going to eat anything interesting;)

Karen I am hoping that the rest of your sisters family also does not get it. And wishing her a speedy recovery. I was hearing that people with A blood types are more susceptible. Do you know her blood type? Mine is O-Neg.

Paula I love this! I am bouncing around in the 150 land. I have to leave it behind.

    2fhp7dlmzkbi.png

Chris thanks. I am so wanting this next year to be one of my best!

Thanks everyone for your support. I missed passing the oral by less than 2 points. But when I was told I was not even a little disappointed. Which to me means I really did not want the job. I just wanted to prove to myself that I could pass the written test. And I did. Now I will be spending time helping my BF, Angie, to pass hers again. They are thinking about making a corporal position at the courthouse. She passed both the oral and written. We studied together, a lot! The other person scored higher and so we are anticipating he will get the Sgt. position. But we want her to get the Corporal. So need a woman in that position. So studying has only just begun. We walked and talked about it this morning. And wrote down every question we could remember, which were lots, that were on the written and oral board tests. We are not done!

Hey Kathy, So good to meet you last night, thank you for calling! It is such a nice feeling to connect with people. And it's nice to know I have someone to talk to. I hope you have a really nice break with your beau. <3

One of these days, us gals are all gonna meet up, yep yep? Retirement makes things so much easier. Teleporting would help too (except we'd probably need peppermints to settle our tummies).

Chris, Bad news. I've lost almost two pounds and we're less than a week into the month. Must confess that the month started at the top of a rebound (the original low point was 171# on 11/27) so 172.7 @ 12/01/20 was an artificial high. I'd understand if you want to ignore it...

Nopey, nope...no ignoring any drop, no matter what, when or why!! Congratulations on your loss, Paula, and may it never come back!!

Fact is, I'm down 3.0 from last Monday, Nov 30th. However, my weight on the 1st is wrong...should be 150.2. So, I'm down 2.2 from the 1st. I'll fix it on Monday...if I remember. Today I was 148.0 at 7:00. Monday will be higher If I get up at 5:30, so we'll see...dun...dun...dun!! :#

Safeway's restocks TP every night; but people are hoarding again so there's been none left on the shelves by the time we shop. I might have to get in line at 5:00am when the doors open...

If I need to get up at 4:30, no way am I weighing! I swear I'll fast until noon if necessary and weigh then. It's probably the difference of a couple pounds!

Paula retirement sounds so wonderful. When this Covid scrap is contained I might just plan a little trip. I so want to meet everyone in person. Long walks on the beach for sure. So happy Kathy and you were able to chat.

We walked the kids today. Tomorrow I want to try a spot we have never been before. It is an uphill climb one way. And then downhill on the way back. Not sure Libby can make it uphill. I will just have to carry her.

Happy Sunday ladies, feeling great because I had a very nice evening with Ron and a great night sleep.

Karen prayers for a full recovery for your sister. You will get back to the 150s because you’re very determined and focused.

Shelly congrats on passing the written portion of the exam. Good luck to Angie. Girl power!!! Get the position.

Chris I think you’re right we are all really focused for the new year. Not going to let December stop our progress.

Paula it was wonderful talking to you Friday night. I’m glad I finally made that call. Feel free to call anytime.

Kathy I sent Angie a message with a song for her. Helen Reddy and "I am Woman". Perfect. I am still studying. If they open up a corporals position I am going for it. I know what I did wrong on the Oral. I am ready now. B) That written portion knocked almost everyone out of the running. I am shooting for a higher score on it. It won't be the same. But I know the type of questions they will be asking. So glad you and Paula are talking.....

Did more Kettle bells today and walked my kids. Also made 4 loaves of Zuchinne bread to share with family.

Chris I have trouble with copying and pasting. But then my Kindle just will not do it! :* If I want to do anything fancy I have to get on the actual computer.

Planning on more Kettle Bell swings tonight. Almost made it 13 minutes last night before my legs started getting cramps. I did do the pushups also. Tiny steps.

    Chris,

Winds, yeah, crazy... We had a fire today in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Because of the red fire danger and the wild winds, crews jumped on it immediately with fire trucks, foot teams and air tankers; ...contained it before it even burned an acre.

If they think "oh it's small, no rush..." that's when it gets a toehold, spreads "like wildfire" and encompasses the mountain. They've learned to hit fast and hard. Glad I didn't know about it till after...

The winds feel like harbingers of change; filled with so much insane hope. I love them too. They scare the sheep out of me.
